Abstract
Pediatric germ cell tumors represent a rare but biologically diverse group of neoplasms arising from pluripotent primordial germ cells. The 2022 edition of the WHO Classification of Pediatric Tumors introduced the first organ independent classification of germ cell tumors, reflecting advances in molecular biology, histopathology, and clinical practice. This review highlights the key changes, including the refined distinctions between the different subtypes. These updates enhance diagnostic accuracy and provide a framework for understanding age-dependent differences in tumor biology and behavior. Emphasis is placed on integrating the new classification into multidisciplinary care, particularly in addressing diagnostic challenges in pre- and post-pubertal-type germ cell tumors. By bridging the gap between histopathology and oncology, the updated classification represents a pivotal step forward in improving outcomes for children with germ cell tumors.

Abstract
Research reveals that 1% of neoplasms in females under 17 years of age are ovarian neoplasms and though usually benign, malignant tumors may occur in the pediatric age group. This review considers various current concepts of these tumors including the epidemiology, risk factors, clinical presentations, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and treatment options including the need to provide fertility-sparing surgery as well as their potential impacts on the psychological well-being of children and adolescents. We gathered data from the published articles ranging from studies, meta-analyses, retrospective studies, and reviews. We focused on the articles published in English between January 1, 2000, and August 31, 2023. Only a few articles published prior to 2000 were included for historical perspective.

Abstract
In young women with anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (anti-NMDAR) autoimmune encephalitis (AE), co-occurrence with ovarian teratoma is common. While the management of mature teratoma with AE is well documented, literature on managing immature teratoma (IT) in tandem with AE is relatively scarce. Here, we report a case of a female patient in her early adolescence who presented with abdominal pain and was diagnosed with grade 3 IT combined with anti-NMDAR AE after an ovarian tumour was discovered and resected. Postsurgery, the patient received immunotherapy, chemotherapy and antiepileptic therapy, and two follow-up evaluations showed no signs of recurrence or sequelae. This case highlights the importance of a high index of suspicion for concurrent AE in the presence of ovarian teratoma, particularly IT, and the crucial role of concurrent administration of immunotherapy and chemotherapy following tumour resection in impacting prognosis.

Abstract
Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is a commonly used clinical biomarker. Before 1970, the two-way agar diffusion method was mainly used, and the specificity of AFP in the diagnosis of primary liver cancer was satisfactory. However, its positivity rate was not very high. The diagnostic value of AFP is changing with the evolution of detection methods. Here, we performed a literature search to identify English-language publications. The search was performed from January 2015 to April 2023 using the PubMed database and the following terms in [Titles/Abstracts]: alpha-fetoprotein, clinical practice, detection, etc. The references of retrieved articles were also screened to broaden the search. Studies referring to liver cancer and AFP detection methods were excluded. In this review, several clinical application scenarios for AFP were systematically reviewed, and its potential detection value in the future was discussed.
