Abstract
In this work, tin sulfide nanosheets decorated on face-mask-derived activated carbon have been explored as electrode material for electrochemical supercapacitors. A hydrothermal route was employed to grow tin sulfide on the surface and inside of high-surface-area face-mask-derived activated carbon, activated at 850 °C, to produce a hierarchical interconnected porous composite (ACFM-850/TS) structure. The presence of tin sulfide in the porous carbon framework exposed the surface active sites for rapid adsorption/desorption of electrolyte ions and ensured high utilization of the porous carbon surface. Furthermore, the porous ACFM-850 framework prevented the stacking/agglomeration of tin sulfide sheets, thereby enhancing the charge-transport kinetics in the composite electrodes. Benefiting from the synergistic effect of tin sulfide and ACFM-850, the resulting ACFM-850/TS composite exhibited an attractive specific capacitance of 423 F g-1 at a 0.5 A g-1 current density and superior rate capability (71.3% at a 30 A g-1 current density) in a 1.0 M Na2SO4 electrolyte. In addition, we fabricated a planar symmetric interdigitated supercapacitor on a stretchable Spandex fabric using an ACFM-850/TS composite electrode and carboxymethyl cellulose/NaClO4 as a solid-state gel electrolyte employing a scalable screen-printing process. The as-prepared stretchable supercapacitors displayed an ultrahigh energy density of 9.2 μWh cm-2 at a power density of 0.13 mW cm-2. In addition, they exhibited an excellent cyclic stability of 64% even after 10,000 charge-discharge cycles and 42% after 1000 continuous stretch (at 25% stretching)/release cycles. Such screen-printed interdigitated planar supercapacitors with activated carbon composite electrodes and a solid-state gel electrolyte act as promising low-cost energy-storage devices for wearable and flexible integrated electronic devices.

Abstract
Supercapacitors (SCs) are a novel type of energy storage device that exhibit features such as a short charging time, a long service life, excellent temperature characteristics, energy saving, and environmental protection. The capacitance of SCs depends on the electrode materials. Currently, carbon-based materials, transition metal oxides/hydroxides, and conductive polymers are widely used as electrode materials. However, the low specific capacitance of carbon-based materials, high cost of transition metal oxides/hydroxides, and poor cycling performance of conductive polymers as electrodes limit their applications. Copper-sulfur compounds used as electrode materials exhibit excellent electrical conductivity, a wide voltage range, high specific capacitance, diverse structures, and abundant copper reserves, and have been widely studied in catalysis, sensors, supercapacitors, solar cells, and other fields. This review summarizes the application of copper-sulfur compounds in SCs, details the research directions and development strategies of copper-sulfur compounds in SCs, and analyses and summarizes the research hotspots and outlook, so as to provide a reference and guidance for the use of copper-sulfur compounds.

Abstract
Pomelo peel (PP) is a kind of solid waste that is produced in the processing industry of honey pomelo. This study deeply explored the feasibility of recycling PP in the form of hydrochar (HC) by microwave-assisted hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) technology. Under the non-catalytic reaction conditions, the yield of hydrochar initially increased with the rise of reaction temperature (150-210 °C) until it remained relatively stable after 210 °C. Under the CaO-catalytical reaction condition, the yield of hydrochar did not change much at first (150-190 °C) but decreased significantly when the reaction temperature exceeded 190 °C. After the microwave-assisted HTC treatment, the PP-derived HC presented higher aromaticity, carbonization degree, porosity, and caloric value. Compared with raw PP, the nutrients in HC were more stable (conducive to being used as slow-release fertilizer). The application of CaO increased the pH value of HC and effectively promoted the accumulation of phosphorus in HC. The HC produced at 210 °C without any catalyst possessing a high devolatilization ability. Additionally, the HC obtained at 190 °C with CaO as the catalyst presented a high combustion property. In general, PP-derived HC showed great application potential in the field of soil remediation/improvement and solid fuels. This preliminary study would undoubtedly provide some important fundamental understanding of the microwave-assisted HTC of PP.

Abstract
The need to find a feasible alternative to commercial membranes for microbial fuel cells (MFCs) poses an important challenge for the practical implementation of this technology. This work aims to analyse the influence of the internal structure of low-cost terracotta clay-based membranes on the behaviour of MFCs. To this purpose, 9 different combinations of temperature and time were used to prepare 27 MFC separators. The results show that the temperature has a significant effect on both porosity and pore size distribution, whereas the ramp time do not show a significant influence on these parameters. It was observed that kilning temperatures higher than 1030 °C dramatically reduce the porosity of the samples, reaching a minimum value of 16.85%, whereas the pore size increases as the temperature also increases. Among the membranes with similar porosities, those with a medium pore size distribution exhibited the lowest bulk resistance allowing MFCs to reach the highest power output (94.67 μW cm-2). These results demonstrate the importance of not only the porosity but also the pore size distribution of the separator in terms of MFC performance and longevity, which for these experiments was for 90 days.
