Abstract
Electrochemical approaches for generating hydrogen from water splitting can be more promising if the challenges in the anodic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) can be harnessed. The interface heterostructure materials offer strong electronic coupling and appropriate charge transport at the interface regions, promoting accessible active sites to prompt kinetics and optimize the adsorption-desorption of active species. Herein, we have designed an efficient multi-interface-engineered Ni3Fe1 LDH/Ni3S2/TW heterostructure on in situ generated titanate web layers from the titanium foam. The synergistic effects of the multi-interface heterostructure caused the exposure of rich interfacial electronic coupling, fast reaction kinetics, and enhanced accessible site activity and site populations. The as-prepared electrocatalyst demonstrates outstanding OER activity, demanding a low overpotential of 220 mV at a high current density of 100 mA cm-2. Similarly, the designed Ni3Fe1 LDH/Ni3S2/TW electrocatalyst exhibits a low Tafel slope of 43.2 mV dec-1 and excellent stability for 100 h of operation, suggesting rapid kinetics and good structural stability. Also, the electrocatalyst shows a low overpotential of 260 mV at 100 mA cm-2 for HER activity. Moreover, the integrated electrocatalyst exhibits an incredible OER activity in simulated seawater with an overpotential of 370 mV at 100 mA cm-2 and stability for 100 h of operation, indicating good OER selectivity. This work might benefit further fabricating effective and stable self-sustained electrocatalysts for water splitting in large-scale applications.

Abstract
Oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is a critical half-reaction in electrochemical overall water splitting and metal-air battery fields; however, the exploitation of the high activity of non-noble metal electrocatalysts to promote the intrinsic slow kinetics of OER is a vital and urgent research topic. Herein, Fe-doped Ni3S2 arrays were derived from MOF precursors and directly grown on nickel foam via the traditional solvothermal way. The arrays integrated into nickel foam can be used as self-supported electrodes directly without any adhesive. Due to the synergistic effect of Fe and Ni elements in the Ni3S2 structure, the optimized Fe2.3%-Ni3S2/NF electrode delivers excellent OER activity in an alkaline medium. The optimized electrode only requires a small overpotential of 233 mV to reach the current density of 10 mA cm-2, and the catalytic activity of the electrode can surpass several related electrodes reported in the literature. In addition, the long-term stability of the Fe2.3%-Ni3S2/NF electrode showed no significant attenuation after 12 h of testing at a current density of 50 mA cm-2. The introduction of Fe ions could modulate the electrical conductivity and morphology of the Ni3S2 structure and thus provide a high electrochemically active area, fast reaction sites, and charge transfer rate for OER activity.

Abstract
The development of efficient bifunctional catalysts for overall water splitting is highly desirable and essential for the advancement of hydrogen technology. In this work, Mo-Ni(OH)2/FexNiy(OH)3x+2y with hierarchical nanotube structure is constructed on flexible carbon cloth (CC) through simple electrochemical deposition and hydrothermal method. The hollow tube-structure is in favor of both exposing active sites and enhancing mass transfer capability. Moreover, the doping of Mo can enhance the electronic conductivity of heterostructures. The interfacial interaction between amorphous and crystal can enhance effectively the charge transfer kinetics across the interface. Therefore, Mo-Ni(OH)2/FexNiy(OH)3x+2y can achieve a low overpotential of 57 mV for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and 229 mV for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) at 10 mA·cm-2. In addition, Mo-Ni(OH)2/FexNiy(OH)3x+2y needs a potential of only 1.54 V at 10 mA·cm-2 for overall water splitting, and retains for a long period of time (60 h) reliable. The work will provide a valuable approach to the construction of highly efficient electrocatalysts for overall water splitting.

Abstract
Powder electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reactions usually need adhesives for electrocatalytic performance tests, leading to the increase of resistance, reduction of catalyst loading, and easy stripping of the catalyst under long-time or high current operation. In this study, Ce-doped CoFe layered double hydroxides were uniformly grown on nickel foam by a one-step hydrothermal route. A nanostructured self-supported electrode Ce-CoFe-LDH/NF without adhesive was obtained directly, which has a regular nanoneedle morphology with a length of ∼1.2 μm and tip width of ∼20 nm. Adopting Ce3+ ions with a large radius to partially displace Fe3+ ions with a small radius produced lattice distortion and more defects in the host layer of CoFe-LDH, whereby possessing the great potential to enhance catalytic behaviors. Once used as an electrocatalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction, Ce-CoFe-LDH/NF shows an outstanding electrocatalytic performance, including an optimized overpotential of 225 mV at 10 mA cm-2, a decreased Tafel slope of 34.34 mV dec-1, and a low charge transfer impedance of 2.4 Ω in 1 M KOH electrolyte. Moreover, the overpotential of the working electrode increased by only 0.04 V after 24 hours and was maintained at a current density of 50 mA cm-2. These results demonstrate a low-cost strategy compared to using noble metal OER electrocatalysts. Thus, this study highlights a ready universal approach to fabricate high-performance supported catalysts for energy-related applications.

Abstract
Ultra-fine hydrogen produced by electrochemical water splitting without carbon emission is a high-density energy carrier, which could gradually substitute the usage of traditional fossil fuels. The development of high-performance electrocatalysts at affordable costs is one of the major research priorities in order to achieve the large-scale implementation of a green hydrogen supply chain. In this work, the development of a vanadium-doped FeBP (V-FeBP) microsphere croissant (MSC) electrocatalyst is demonstrated to exhibit efficient bi-functional water splitting for the first time. The FeBP MSC electrode is synthesized by a hydrothermal approach along with the systematic control of growth parameters such as precursor concentration, reaction duration, reaction temperature and post-annealing, etc. Then, the heteroatom doping of vanadium is performed on the best FeBP MSC by a simple soaking approach. The best optimized V-FeBP MSC demonstrates the low HER and OER overpotentials of 52 and 180 mV at 50 mA/cm2 in 1 M KOH in a three-electrode system. In addition, the two-electrode system, i.e., V-FeBP || V-FeBP, demonstrates a comparable water-splitting performance to the benchmark electrodes of Pt/C || RuO2 in 1 M KOH. Similarly, exceptional performance is also observed in natural sea water. The 3D MSC flower-like structure provides a very high surface area that favors rapid mass/electron-transport pathways, which improves the electrocatalytic activity. Further, the V-FeBP electrode is examined in different pH solutions and in terms of its stability under industrial operational conditions at 60 °C in 6 M KOH, and it shows excellent stability.

Abstract
Due to the sluggish kinetic reaction, the electrolytic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is one of the obstacles in driving overall water splitting for green hydrogen production. In this study, we demonstrate a strategy to improve the OER performance of Ni3S2. The effect of addition of different FeCl2 contents during the hydrothermal process on the OER activity is systematically evaluated. We found that all samples upon the addition of FeCl2 produced Fe-doped Ni3S2 and FeS2 to form a nanocomposite. Their OER performances strongly depend on the amount of FeCl2, where the NSF-0.25 catalyst with 0.25 mmol FeCl2 added during the hydrothermal synthesis shows the best OER performance. Its overpotential was 230 mV versus RHE and it achieves a high current density of 100 mA·cm-2, which was much lower than that of pristine Ni3S2 (320 mV) or RuO2 (370 mV) as the benchmark OER catalyst. The postcharacterizations reveal that NSF-0.25 has gone through an in situ phase transformation into an Fe-NiOOH phase during the OER test. This study presents a simple method and a low-cost material to improve the OER performance with in situ formation of oxyhydroxide.

Abstract
The development of a scalable strategy to prepare highly efficient and stable bifunctional electrocatalysts is the key to industrial electrocatalytic water splitting cycles to produce clean hydrogen. Here, a simple and quick one-step hydrothermal method was used to successfully fabricate a three-dimensional core chrysanthemum-like FeS/Ni3S2 heterogeneous nanoarray (FeS/Ni3S2@NF) on a porous nickel foam skeleton. Compared with the monomer Ni3S2@NF, the chrysanthemum-like FeS/ Ni3S2@NF heterostructure nanomaterials have improved catalytic performance in alkaline media, showing low overpotentials of 192 mV (η10) and 130 mV (η-10) for OER and HER, respectively. This study attests that integrated interface engineering and precise morphology control are effective strategies for activating the Ni3+/Ni2+ coupling, promoting charge transfer and improving the intrinsic activity of the material to accelerate the OER reaction kinetics and promote the overall water splitting performance. The scheme can be reasonably applied to the design and development of transition metal sulfide-based electrocatalysts to put into industrial practice of electrochemical water oxidation.

Abstract
Developing efficient and low-cost non-noble metal catalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is important for hydrogen production through water electrolysis. Herein, Fe doped NiS nanosheets directly grown on conductive carbon fiber paper (Fe-NiS@CFP) were fabricated through a two-step hydrothermal process. The microstructure, interface and electronic states of the prepared sample were modulated by Fe doping, exhibiting small internal and interface charge-transfer resistance. Benefiting from these factors, Fe-NiS@CFP shows superior electrocatalytic performance with an overpotential of 275 mV at 100 mA cm-2 and maintains the activity for at least 50 h as a working electrode for the OER. This work may provide insights into the design and fabrication of non-noble metal sulfide electrocatalysts.

Abstract
The design and construction of highly efficient and durable non-noble metal bifunctional catalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in alkaline media is essential for developing the hydrogen economy. To achieve this goal, we have developed a bifunctional nanowire-structured FeP-CoP array catalyst on carbon cloth with uniform distribution through in-situ hydrothermal growth and phosphating treatment. The unique nanowire array structure and the strong electronic interaction between FeP and CoP species have been confirmed. Electrochemical studies have found that the designed Fe0.14Co0.86-P/CC catalyst appears excellent HER (130 mV@10 mA cm-2)/OER (270 mV@10 mA cm-2) activity and stability. Moreover, the bifunctional Fe0.14Co0.86-P/CC(+/-) catalyst is also used in simulated industrial water splitting system, where the pair catalyst requires about 1.95 and 2.14 V to reach 500 and 1000 mA cm-2, even superior to the control RuO2(+)||Pt/C(-) catalyst, showing good industrial application prospects. These excellent electrocatalytic properties are attributed to the synergy between FeP and CoP species as well as the unique microstructure, which can accelerate charge transfer, expose more active sites and enhance electrolyte diffusion and gas emissions.

Abstract
To enhance the overall water splitting efficiency, it is widely attractive yet challenging to develop low price, abundance and efficient bifunctional electrocatalysts towards oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Herein, Fe,Rh-codoped Ni2P nanosheets arrays were in situ anchored on three-dimension (3D) Ni foam under hydrothermal condition and successive phosphorization, denoted as Fe,Rh-Ni2P/NF for simplicity. The unique nanosheets arrays effectively enriched the active sites with easy accessibility. By virtue of the unique sheet-like arrays and 3D porous conductive substrate, the prepared Fe,Rh-Ni2P/NF showed the low overpotentials of 226 mV at 30 mA cm-2 towards the OER and 73 mV at 10 mA cm-2 for the HER. Moreover, the electrocatalyst effectively worked as anode and cathode for overall water splitting system, showing a small voltage of 1.62 V to drive a current density of 10 mA cm-2. The present work provides alternative option for fabricating advanced catalysts in electrocatalysis and energy devices.
