Abstract
The innovations of the present work include these items; (i) Design and preparation of three-dimensional flexible conductive polymeric nanocomposites (3D-FCPNCs) containing polypyrrole (PPy), V2O5 and TiO2 and modification of their surface with polygon-shape polyvinylpyrrolidone/CuO nanorods (PVP/CuO NRDs) and Fe2O3 NRDs using an hierarchical process based on isoelectric point (IEP), (ii) Application of the prepared surfaces as the flexible enzymeless creatinine sensors using four calibration curves (impedimetric, real capacitance (C'), imaginary capacitance (C″) and double layer capacitance (Cdl)) obtained from electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) technique. The best results have been obtained using PVP/CuO NRDs-Fe2O3 NRDs/TiO2-V2O5-PPy 3D-FCPNC hierarchical electrode with a wide range of the linear concentration range (10 nmol L-1 -1.3 mmol L-1). Although, determination of creatinine through extraction of parameters such as charge transfer resistance (Rct) and Cdl from measuring impedance at a wide range of frequencies provides useful information about the characteristics of the electrolyte/electrode interface, but measuring real and imaginary capacitances at a specific frequency instead of a wide frequency range can decrease the response time to lower than 1 min. Finally, the prepared hierarchical enzymeless sensors have been successfully used to estimate creatinine concentration in blood serum.

Abstract
In recent years, notable headway has been made in augmenting supercapacitor functioning through employment of pioneering components, exceptional nanostructures and additional investigation of electrolytes. Nonetheless, achieving superior performance with straightforward techniques remains a significant hurdle. In order to surmount this, an experimental three-dimensional nanospherical pore structure (TPB-20@Ni(OH)2) was designed and prepared. TPB-1 was obtained through carbonisation and activation. TPB-20@Ni(OH)2nanoparticles were synthesized using TPB-1 as the carbon source and nickel chloride hexahydrate as the nickel source. Furthermore, the TPB-20@Ni(OH)2//AC supercapacitor displayed an impressive energy density of 22.1 Wh kg-1. The TPB-20@Ni(OH)2composites exhibited a specific capacity of 978 F-1, which is noteworthy. The exceptional output exhibited by the TPB-20@Ni(OH)2composite derives from its innovative structure, presenting an extensive specific surface area of 237.4 m2g-1and porosity of roughly 4.0 nm. Following 20 000 cycles (at a current density of 1 A g-1), asymmetric supercapacitors assembled from TPB-20@Ni(OH)2//AC retained 80.0% of its initial specific electrostatic capacity, indicating superior electrochemical stability and high electrochemical reversibility.

Abstract
The design of hierarchical electrocatalysts with plentiful active sites and high mass transfer efficiency is critical to efficiently and sustainably carrying out the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), which presents a challenging and pressing need. In this study, a hierarchical Ni(OH)2@NiFe-Prussian blue analogue nanoarray grown on nickel foam (NF) [labeled as Ni(OH)2@NiFe-PBA/NF] was synthesized by combining a mild electrodeposition method with an ion-exchange strategy. The resultant Ni(OH)2@NiFe-PBA/NF displays superhydrophilic/superaerophobic properties that optimize the contact with the electrolyte, improve mass transfer efficiency, and expedite detachment of O2 bubbles during the electrocatalytic OER. Specifically, Ni(OH)2@NiFe-PBA/NF exhibits exceptional capability in the OER with low overpotentials of 224 and 240 mV at the current densities of 50 and 100 mA cm-2, respectively, accompanied by a low Tafel slope of 37.1 mV dec-1 and outstanding stability over 100 h at a fixed potential of 1.78 V vs reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE). Furthermore, Ni(OH)2@NiFe-PBA/NF demonstrates remarkable OER performance even in alkaline simulated seawater. During the OER process, active metal-OOH intermediates were formed by the partial self-reconstruction of NiFe-PBA in the heterostructure, as revealed by in situ Raman spectroscopy.

Abstract
Polyaniline (PANI) is among the most widely studied conducting polymers due to its potential technological applications in various fields. Recently, PANI-based hybrid materials have played an important role in the development of energy storage and conversion systems. The aim of the present work is the investigation of the simultaneous electrochemical growth of PANI and Ta2O5 on the Ta substrate and the characterization of the morphology, redox behavior and pseudocapacitive properties of the resulting micro- or nanostructured composite thin films. A well-adherent conductive Ta2O5-PANI composite film was first formed using cyclic voltammetry on Ta that facilitates the on-top electrodeposition of single PANI via an autocatalytic mechanism. The electrochemical characterization of the Ta|Ta2O5-PANI|PANI electrodes reveals unique redox properties of PANI not shown previously upon using PANI electrodeposition on Ta. Scanning electron microscopy shows that the morphology of the electrodeposited films comprises nano- or microspheres that may develop into nano- or microrods when the polymerization proceeds. Preliminary evaluation of the capacitive properties of the Ta|Ta2O5-PANI|PANI electrode shows adequately high specific capacitance values as high as 1130 F g-1 (at 9.2 mA cm-2), depending on the electrochemical parameters, as well as adequate stability (~80% retention after 100 cycles), indicating their potential application as energy storage devices.

Abstract
A Ag2S-Ag2O-Ag/poly-2-aminobenzene-1-thiol (P2ABT) nanocomposite was prepared using the photopolymerization reaction using AgNO3 as an oxidant. The size of the nanocomposite was about 40 nm, in which the morphology was confirmed using TEM and SEM analyses. The functional groups of Ag2S-Ag2O-Ag/P2ABT were confirmed using FTIR; also, XRD confirmed the inorganic Ag2S, Ag, and Ag2O formation. This nanocomposite has great performance in supercapacitor applications, with it tested in acidic (1.0 M HCl) and basic mediums (1.0 M NaOH). This pseudo-capacitor has great performance that appeared through the charge time in an acid medium in comparison to the basic medium with values of 118 s and 103 s, correspondingly. The cyclic voltammetry (CV) analysis further confirmed the excellent performance of the supercapacitor material, as indicated by the large area under the cyclic curve. The specific capacitance (CS) and energy density (E) values (at 0.3 A/g) were 92.5 and 44.4 F/g and 5.0 and 2.52 W·h·Kg-1 in the acidic and basic mediums, correspondingly. The charge transfer was studied through a Nyquist plot, and the produced Rs values were 4.9 and 6.2 Ω, respectively. Building on these findings, our objective is to make a significant contribution to the progress of supercapacitor technology through a prototype design soon.

Abstract
Electrodes with hierarchical nanoarchitectures could promote electrochemical properties due to their largely exposed active sites and quick charge transfer. Herein, in situ grown hierarchical NiO nanosheet@nanowire films are reported by a one-step hydrothermal process followed by heat treatment. The unique NiO hierarchical nanostructures, which are composed of NiO nanowires grown on the surface of a nanosheet array, show improved electrochromic properties such as large optical modulation in different light regions (95% at 550 nm and 50.6% at 1000 nm), fast color change (9.8/5.4 s) and better coloring efficiency (91.2 cm2 C-1) with long-term cycling properties (82.2% after 700 cycles). Simultaneously, the hierarchical nanostructures possess optimal areal capacitance (117.2 mF cm-2), rate performance and cycling properties. The enhanced electrochemical properties are due to the pretreated seed layer and the synergistic effect between the unique in situ grown ultrathin nanowire and the underlying vertical nanosheet layer which can strengthen the mechanical adhesion of the nanoarray film to the substrate and make both nanosheets and nanowires more exposed to the electrolyte, enhancing charge transfer and mass diffusion. This work provides a promising pathway towards developing high quality electrochromic energy storage devices.

Abstract
NiCo(OH)4-NiO composite electrode materials were prepared using hydrothermal deposition and electrophoretic deposition. NiCo(OH)4 is spherical and flowerlike, composed of nanosheets, and NiO is deposited on the surface of NiCo(OH)4 in the form of nanorods. NiCo(OH)4 has a large specific surface area and can provide more active sites. Synergistic action with NiO deposits on the surface can provide a higher specific capacitance. In order to study the influence of hydrothermal reaction temperature on the properties of NiCo(OH)4, the prepared materials of NiCo(OH)4-NiO, the hydrothermal reaction temperatures of 70 °C, 90 °C, 100 °C, and 110 °C were used for comparison. The results showed that the NiCo(OH)4-NiO-90 specific capacitance of the prepared electrode material at its maximum when the hydrothermal reaction temperature is 90 °C. The specific capacitance of the NiCo(OH)4-NiO-90 reaches 2129 F g−1 at the current density of 1 A g−1 and remains 84% after 1000 charge–discharge cycles.

Abstract
Electrode materials with a hierarchical nanostructure derived from transition metal-based compounds is an important branch of energy storage materials and have attracted widespread attention in recent years. Herein, a Cu-Ni(OH)2@CoO nanoflower cluster (Cu-Ni(OH)2@CoO NFCs) heterojunction was successfully constructed by a simple two-step hydrothermal method in the presence of Co2+. The optimized Cu-Ni(OH)2@CoO NFCs presented a high capacitive performance and outstanding cycle stability when used as a battery-type supercapacitive electrode material. In particular, an ultra-high areal specific capacitance of 5.8 F cm-2 (354.8 mA h g-1) at 1 mA cm-2 was obtained in 3 M KOH electrolyte. Even after 10 000 cycles, the capacitance still remained 98.4% of its initial value. All the experimental characterization results indicate that the excellent performance of the Cu-Ni(OH)2@CoO NFC self-supporting electrode can be attributed to the regulatory effect of Co2+ on the morphology and electronic structure, which is induced by the second hydrothermal process. More specifically, the transformations in the morphology and electronic structure will expose more active sites and accelerate charge transfer during the electrochemical reaction. Besides, the rapid oxidation reactions of multivalent transition metal ions and enhanced hydrophilicity promote the electrochemical reaction kinetics processes on the Cu-Ni(OH)2@CoO NFC electrode. This study provides a promising strategy for exploring low-cost and efficient electrode materials based on transition metal compounds for electrochemical energy storage.
