Abstract
Plant polyphenols are widely distributed in most higher plants, garnering significant attention from researchers due to their remarkable antioxidative, antibacterial, anticancer, and anti-radiation properties. They also offer multiple health benefits for various lifestyle-related diseases and oxidative stress. While there has been considerable research on the extraction and antibacterial application of plant polyphenols, developing a rapid and efficient extraction method remains a persistent challenge. Furthermore, the introduction of novel technologies is imperative to enhance the bioavailability of polyphenolic compounds. This comprehensive review synthesizes recent research findings pertaining to the extraction, antibacterial mechanisms, and applications of plant polyphenols. This research highlights the prevalent issues of low extraction rates of plant polyphenols and the ambiguous antibacterial mechanisms in current research. To address these challenges, this research proposes innovative directions for improving extraction technology and expanding antibacterial applications. Additionally, this review outlines promising future research avenues within the realm of plant polyphenols. Graphical abstract

Abstract
Sugarcane is a popular crop whose cultivation generates a wide range of by-products. The aim was to optimize the hydrothermal extraction of hemicellulose from sugarcane straw using response-surface methods with a two-factor composite design and to assess its functional qualities. Three process parameters were subject to optimization: solid/liquid ratio (1:6-1:18), temperature (143-186 °C), and extraction time (20-60 min). A xylooligosaccharide (XOS)-enriched extract was characterized regarding its chemical composition, molecular weight, and antioxidant and antimicrobial potential. The optimized extraction yield was 24.46 g/100 g of straw with a polymerization degree of 17.40. Both hemicellulose and XOS demonstrated notable antioxidant properties, with antioxidant effects of 73% and 85%, respectively. Regarding skin enzyme activity, hemicellulose inhibited elastase by more than 50%, while XOS showed no significant effect. However, both extracts exhibited collagenase (MMP1) inhibition comparable to the positive control. In terms of production feasibility, the estimated costs were 130.5 EUR/kg for hemicellulose and 272.5 EUR/kg for XOS. Overall, the optimized XOS-enriched sugarcane straw extract demonstrated promising anti-aging, antioxidant, and preservative properties, highlighting its potential for cosmetic applications.

Abstract
Sugarcane, as one important and heavily planted industrial crop, is meaningful to develop its byproducts. In this paper, the ultrasonic collaborative pulse was beneficial for the yield improvement and good bioactivity protection. The sugarcane polyphenol extract (SPE) yield reached 2.42 ± 0.08 mg/g DW at the optimized conditions: pulse time of 60 s, pulse intensity of 2 kV/cm, ultrasonic time of 90 min, and ultrasonic power of 120 W. The SPE contained the total phenolic content of 6.01 ± 0.12 mg GAE/g extract and total flavonoids content of 7.15 ± 0.24 mg RE/g extract. The SPE was mainly composed of chlorogenic acid, schaftoside, hyperoside, quercitrin, and trans-3-hydroxycinnamic acid with 10.24 %, 14.92 %, 4.22 %, 12.05 %, 25.54 %, respectively. The SPE showed good radical scavenging activity with ORAC value of 134.57 μmol/g. The SPE could reduce the oxidative stress and extend the mean lifespan of nematodes by 7.19 % in vivo through increasing the activity of SOD and CAT to decrease the ROS level and MDA content. In addition, the SPE showed strong α-glucosidase inhibitory activity with IC50 of 0.53 mg/mL in a mixed inhibition type, which suggested that the SPE had good hypoglycemic potential.

Abstract
Phyllostachys makinoi, an endemic bamboo species in Taiwan, is underutilized, despite its rich forest resources. Known for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties, this study explores the antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and wound-healing activities of P. makinoi extracts. The antibacterial potential of P. makinoi extracts was first evaluated using the agar diffusion method, along with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) assays. Subsequently, electron microscopy and a conductivity meter were employed to assess whether P. makinoi extracts exert antibacterial effects by disrupting bacterial cell structures. Finally, the anti-inflammatory and cell proliferation-promoting effects of P. makinoi extracts were assessed in RAW264.7 and CCD-1112Sk cell models. The MIC and MBC of the P. makinoi water extracts against two multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus strains were 4 and 16-32 mg/mL, respectively, while those for ethanol extracts were 2 and 32 mg/mL, respectively. In the time-kill assay, both strains were killed after treatment with extracts for 12 and 18 h. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that the bacterial cells treated with the extracts appeared rough, ruptured, and shriveled. The extracts disrupted the cell membranes, causing electrolyte, protein, and nucleic acid leakage, leading to cell death. Additionally, P. makinoi extracts reduced lipopolysaccharide-induced nitric oxide, tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin (IL)-1β, and IL-6 levels in RAW264.7 cells, and promoted wound healing by enhancing CCD-1112Sk cell proliferation. In conclusion, P. makinoi water and ethanol extracts demonstrated antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects, showing potential for treating wound infections and accelerating healing, making them promising candidates for wound-healing therapies.

Abstract
Excessive inflammation caused by bacterial infection is the primary cause of implant failure. Antibiotic treatment often fails to prevent peri-implant infection and may induce unexpected drug resistance. Herein, a non-antibiotic strategy based on the synergy of silver ion release and macrophage reprogramming is proposed for preventing infection and bacteria-induced inflammation suppression by the organic-inorganic hybridization of silver nanoparticle (AgNP) and quercetin (Que) into a polydopamine (PDA)-based coating on the 3D framework of porous titanium (SQPdFT). Once the planktonic bacteria (e.g., Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus) reach the surface of SQPdFT, released Que disrupts the bacterial membrane. Then, AgNP can penetrate the invading bacterium and kill them, which further inhibits the biofilm formation. Simultaneously, released Que can regulate macrophage polarization homeostasis via the peroxisome proliferators-activated receptors gamma (PPARγ)-mediated nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) pathway, thereby terminating excessive inflammatory responses. These advantages facilitate the adhesion and osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs), concomitantly suppressing osteoclast maturation, and eventually conferring superior mechanical stability to SQPdFT within the medullary cavity. In summary, owing to its excellent antibacterial effect, immune remodeling function, and pro-osteointegration ability, SQPdFT is a promising protective coating for titanium-based implants used in orthopedic replacement surgery.

Abstract
Pistacia vera L. hull, a the major byproduct of pistachio processing, is a source of functional compounds with antioxidant and antimicrobial activities. The extraction of these natural compounds from pistachio hulls and their use instead of synthetic chemicals has gained great attention. In this work, the phytochemical contents and antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of pistachio hull ethanolic (PVE) and aqueous (PVD) extracts obtained by microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) were investigated. Gallic acid (1.9 and 1.5 mg/g dw), quercetin (0.025 and 0.009 mg/g dw), total phenolic (23.3 and 14.7 mg GAE/g dw) and flavonoid (5.0 and 2.9 mg QE/g dw) contents and antioxidant activities (SC50 0.63 and 0.56 mg/mL) of PVE and PVD extracts were determined, respectively. The extracts exhibited antimicrobial effects against Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus uberis, Bacillus cereus, and Bacillus subtilis. Minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs, 0.8-49.0 and 9.6-82.5 mg/mL) and the minimal bactericidal concentrations (MBCs, 1.3-99.1 and 15.5-150.0 mg/mL) of PVE and PVD extracts were determined, respectively. Kill curves revealed that PVE and PVD extracts could inhibit the growth of bacteria. It was shown that PVE and PVD extracts could represent a good economical source of functional and bioactive compounds.

Abstract
Implant-related infections are among the major post-surgery problems, and treatment of these infections is challenging due to the formation of biofilms by microorganisms such as Staphylococcus aureus. Herein, a novel gold-curcumin nanohybrid (GCNH) was synthesized for the first time and characterized. GCNH had a band gap energy of 2.41 eV, a zeta potential of -15 mV, and comprised uniform spherical particles with a mean diameter of 8 ± 2 nm. The biological macromolecule of polydopamine was then coated on GCNH to prepare a gold-curcumin-polydopamine nanohybrid (GCDNH). The nanohybrids were employed as novel dual photo-sonosensitizers for bacterial eradication by near-infrared (NIR) light and ultrasound (US) irradiations. GCNH and GCDNH represented photothermal conversion efficiencies of 26 and 32 %, respectively, and GCDNH represented a hemolysis rate of 2.3 % under both near-infrared (NIR) light and ultrasound (US) irradiations. NIR light and US irradiations (photo-sonotherapy) of Staphylococcus aureus using GCDNH depicted anti-bacterial and anti-biofilm efficiencies of 98 and 99 %, respectively, in synergistic manners, which are higher or as high as other sensitizers reported previously. The mechanism of photo-sonotherapy was related to generation of high levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS), and protein and nucleic acid leakages. In an in vivo infection model, NIR light and US irradiations annihilated Staphylococcus aureus on GCDNH-covered implants with high efficiency, without causing damage to normal tissues.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The fruit wastes, in particular agricultural wastes, are considered potential and inexpensive sources of bioactive compounds. OBJECTIVE The current study was aimed at the preparation of an optimized extract of sugarcane bagasse using microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) technology and comparative evaluation of chemical composition, antioxidant, and antidiabetic activities with extract prepared through maceration technique. METHODOLOGY Box-Behnken Design (BDD) with response surface methodology was applied to observe interactions of three independent variables (ethanol concentrations [%], microwave power [W], and extraction time [min]) on the dependent variables (total phenolic content [TPC] and antioxidant status via 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl [DPPH] to establish optimal extraction conditions. The ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q-TOF-MS) analysis was applied for untargeted metabolite profiling, and in vitro assays were used for evaluation of the antidiabetic and antioxidant potential of the extract. Moreover, an in silico study was used to predict the interaction of five dominant compounds from the UHPLC-Q-TOF-MS profile against the dipeptidyl peptidase-IV (DPP-IV) enzyme. RESULTS The optimal conditions for the extraction were established at 60% (v/v) ethanol, 500 W microwave power, and 5 min time with TPC 12.83 ± 0.66 mg GAE/g d.w. and DPPH 45.09 ± 0.07%. The UHPLC-Q-TOF-MS analysis revealed the presence of a total of 106 compounds in the extract. Moreover, the extract prepared through MAE technology presented higher TPC and DPPH findings than the extract prepared through maceration. Similarly, the extract was also found with good antidiabetic activity by inhibiting the DPP-IV enzyme which was also rectified theoretically by a molecular docking study. CONCLUSION The current study presents a sustainable and an optimized approach for the preparation of sugarcane bagasse extract with functional phytoconstituents and higher antidiabetic and antioxidant activities.

Abstract
Preservative ingredients in cosmetic formulations undertake a necessary role in the prevention of microbial contamination. In this field, there is an unmet need for natural, sustainable, and effective preservatives. Thus, the main goal of this work was to evaluate a sugarcane straw extract-based ingredient and investigate its potential as a preservative for cosmetic applications. Different ingredients were developed using several cosmetic solvents to improve the solubility of the extracted compounds. The antimicrobial activity was assessed against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Candida albicans. The 1,2-hexanediol was the solvent that allowed us to achieve the ingredient (20% dry extract dispersed in 25% 1,2-hexanediol in water) with the best antimicrobial performance, showing a minimum inhibitory concentration of between 5% and 3% (I). The 5% (w/v) concentration of this ingredient complied with the USP51 standards for cosmetic preservatives. Real-time (25 °C, 65% RH) and accelerated stability (40 °C, 75% RH) tests were conducted to determine the ingredient stability, and it was found that one month of storage time at room temperature would be ideal for better ingredient stability and performance in terms of composition, pH, color, and antioxidant activity.

Abstract
Various studies have shown that natural colorants, in addition to their coloring attributes, have valuable biological effects such as antioxidant, anti-inflammation, and anticarcinogenic properties. Moreover, their use as a food colorant can restrict the potential disadvantages of synthetic additives and turn foods into functional products. In this study, in vitro antimicrobial activities of two natural colorants of bixin and curcumin against some important foodborne pathogens: Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus), Listeria innocua (L. innocua), and Escherichia coli (E. coli) were investigated by disk diffusion method. Minimum inhibitory concentration and minimum bactericidal concentration values were determined by agar dilution and broth microdilution methods. The synergistic activity of the colorants against selected microorganisms was assayed by the checkerboard microdilution method. The results showed that the inhibitory effects of bixin against S. aureus were more pronounced than E. coli and L. innocua. The lowest concentration of curcumin (0.6 mg/mL) in the disk diffusion method was not inhibited by any tested bacteria. However, it was effective at the higher concentrations against three microorganisms, but its diameter of inhibition zones was lower than gentamicin in all concentrations. Synergetic effects were observed by curcumin and bixin combination against S. aureus (FICI ≤ 0.5), but they act as an antagonist against E. coli and L. innocua. The results of the synergy test were confirmed by the isobologram curves.

Abstract
Sugarcane (Saccharum sp.) plants are grown in warmer climates throughout the world and processed to produce sugar as well as other useful byproducts such as molasses and bagasse. Sugarcane is rich in (poly)phenols, but there has been no attempt to critically evaluate the published information based on the use of suitable methodologies. The objective of this review is to evaluate the quantitative and qualitative (poly)phenolic profiles of individual parts of the sugarcane plant and its multiple industrial products, which will help develop new processes and uses for sugarcane (poly)phenols. The quantitative analysis involves the examination of extraction, concentration, and analytical techniques used in each study for each plant part and product. The qualitative analysis indicates the identification of various (poly)phenols throughout the sugarcane processing chain, using only compounds elucidated through robust analytical methodologies such as mass spectrometry or nuclear magnetic resonance. In conclusion, sugarcane (poly)phenols are predominantly flavonoids and phenolic acids. The main flavonoids, derivatives of apigenin, luteolin, and tricin, with a substantial proportion of C-glycosides, are consistently found across all phases of sugarcane processing. The principal phenolic acids reported throughout the process include chlorogenic acids, as well as ferulic and caffeic acids mostly observed after hydrolysis. The derivation of precise quantitative information across publications is impeded by inconsistencies in analytical methodologies. The presence of multiple (poly)phenols with potential benefits for industrial applications and for health suggests sugarcane could be a useful provider of valuable compounds for future use in research and industrial processes.

Abstract
Cold-pressed sugarcane juice (SCJ) is a beverage rich in vitamins, carbohydrates, and antioxidants. Various sterilization methods impact fruit juice's appearance, nutrients, and flavor. Hence, this study aims to assess how different sterilization techniques affect the flavor, appearance, and nutritional value of SCJ. Freshly prepared SCJs were subjected to two sterilization methods: pasteurization (referred to as PTG) and autoclaving (referred to as HTHP). The pasteurization process was carried out at 63°C for 30 min, whereas the HTHP process was applied at 115°C for 30 min. The appearances, Brix value, colors, sugar, organic acid content, and aromatic compounds were determined. The Brix and pH values of the juice show little variation across different heat treatments. The color index of PTG was similar to that of the control group, whereas the L* value of HTHP increased about 21%, resulting in a significant color change. The glucose and fructose contents of HTHP were 7.03 and 5.41 mg/mL, which were much higher than those of PTG (3.26 and 2.33 mg/mL) and control group (3.33 and 2.48 mg/mL). A total of 77 aromatic compounds were identified in the SCJ after various heat treatments. Among them, pentanoic acid, octanal, and β-damascenone were the most abundant substances contributing to the overall flavor in the control group, PTG, and HTHP. Pasteurization preserved the original flavor of the juice, whereas autoclaving triggered the Maillard reaction, forming pyrazine and furan-like compounds that altered the SCJ's flavor. In conclusion, pasteurization retained SCJ's original characteristics, whereas HTHP induces changes in nutrition and imparts a distinct flavor.

Abstract
Influenza A virus (IAV) is one of the major global public health concerns but the emerging resistance of IAV to currently available antivirals requires the need to identify potential alternatives. Polyphenol rich sugarcane extract (PRSE) is an extract prepared from the sugarcane plant Saccharum Officinarum. Herein we aimed to determine if PRSE had antiviral activity against IAV. We showed that treatment of IAV-infected cells with PRSE results in a dose-dependent inhibition of virus infection at concentrations that were non-cytotoxic. PRSE treatment limited the early stages of infection, reducing viral genome replication, mRNA transcription and viral protein expression. PRSE did not affect the ability of IAV to bind sialic acid or change the morphology of viral particles. Additionally, PRSE treatment attenuated the replication of multiple IAV strains of the H3N2 and H1N1 subtype. In conclusion, we show that PRSE displays antiviral activity against a broad range of IAV strains, in vitro.

Abstract
Sugarcane straw (Saccharum officinarum) is a valuable coproduct renowned for its abundant polyphenolic content. However, extracting these polyphenols for natural ingredients faces challenges due to their inherent variability, influenced by biotic stress factors and plant characteristics. We explored the impact of five crucial factors on sugarcane straw polyphenolic diversity: (i) production area (Guariba, Valparaíso), (ii) borer insect (Diatraea saccharalis) infestation, (iii) plant age (first to seventh harvest), (iv) harvest season, and (v) plant variety. Response surface methodology (RSM) and artificial neural networks (ANN) were used to optimize polyphenol extraction conditions. A second-order polynomial model guided us to predict ideal sugarcane straw harvesting conditions for polyphenol-rich extracts. The analysis identified CU0618-variety straw, harvested in Guariba during the dry season (October 2020), at the seventh harvest stage, with 13.81% borer insect infection, as the prime source for high hydroxybenzoic acid (1010 µg/g), hydroxycinnamic acid (3119 µg/g), and flavone (573 µg/g) content and consequently high antioxidant capacity. The ANN model surpasses the RSM model, demonstrating superior predictive capabilities with higher coefficients of determination and reduced mean absolute deviations for each polyphenol class. This underscores the potential of artificial neural networks in forecasting and enhancing polyphenol extraction conditions, setting the stage for AI-driven advancements in crop management.

Abstract
Food-borne pathogenic bacteria are a major public health concern globally. Traditional control methods using antibiotics have limitations, leading to the exploration of alternative strategies. Essential oils such as cardamom possess antimicrobial properties and have shown efficacy against food-borne pathogenic bacteria. The utilization of essential oils and their bioactive constituents in food preservation is a viable strategy to prolong the shelf-life of food products while ensuring their quality and safety. To the best of our knowledge, there are no studies that have utilized 1,8-cineole (the main active constituent of cardamom essential oil) as a preservative in meat, so this study might be the first to utilize 1,8-cineole as an antibacterial agent in meat preservation. The application of 1,8-cineole had a significant suppressive impact on the growth rate of Listeria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Salmonella Typhimurium in meat samples stored for 7 days at 4 °C. Additionally, the surface color of the meat samples was not negatively impacted by the application of 1,8-cineole. The minimum inhibitory concentration was 12.5-25 mg/ml, and the minimum bactericidal concentration was 25-50.0 mg/ml. The bacterial cell membrane may be the target of cardamom, causing leakage of intracellular proteins, ATP, and DNA. The obtained data in this study may pave a new avenue for using 1,8-cineole as a new perspective for dealing with this problem of food-borne pathogens and food preservation, such as meat.

Abstract
To fight the global epidemic of drug-resistant bacteria, essential oils have gained increasing attention as a new source of antibiotics. The antimicrobial activity of Monarda didyma essential oils (MDEO) for the Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) strains were determined by agar disc diffusion assay and broth microdilution assay. To further understand MDEO efficacy, a time-growth curve was performed. The biofilm formation of CRKP were determined by crystalline violet staining method, additionally, changes in intracellular Adenosine triphosphate (ATP), protein, Alkaline phosphatase (AKP) activities, and membrane integrity were investigated to assess the influence of MDEO on cell membrane damage. Finally, the activities of key enzymes in the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) pathways and pentose phosphate (PPP) pathways were examined to determine the effect of MDEO on the respiratory metabolism of CRKP. This study presents the antibacterial mechanism of MDEO against CRKP with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) of 1.25 mg/ml. To understand MDEO efficacy, a time-kill kinetics approach was performed. The bactericidal effect of MDEO was evident at 2 h compared to the control at its MIC and 2MIC. Surface electron microscopic and ATP assay studies provided evidence for the multi-target action of MDEO against CRKP. MDEO could inhibit CRKP biofilm formation. MDEO could also cause irreversible damage to the CRKP cell membrane, resulting in the leakage of biological macromolecules (protein, ATP) and the reduction of intracellular enzymes (AKP) activities. Finally, MDEO affected the pathways of respiratory metabolism, such as PPP and TCA pathways. MDEO could reduce the activity of key enzymes (Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, citrate synthase, isocitrate dehydrogenase, and α-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase) in the PPP and TCA pathways to exert its biological effects against CRKP. These results suggest MDEO can exert inhibitory effects on CRKP, and potential mechanisms of action including inhibition of biofilm formation, damage of cell membrane structure and inhibition of energy metabolism.

Abstract
The microbial contamination of food poses a threat to human health. Chestnut shells, which are byproducts of chestnut processing, contain polyphenols that exert various physiological effects, and thus have the potential to be used in food preservation. This study investigates the bacteriostatic effect and mechanism(s) of the action of chestnut shell polyphenols (CSPs) on three food-spoilage bacteria, namely Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas fragi, and Escherichia coli. To this end, the effect of CSPs on the ultrastructure of each bacterium was determined using scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. Moreover, gene expression was analyzed using RT-qPCR. Subsequent molecular docking analysis was employed to elucidate the mechanism of action employed by CSPs via the inhibition of key enzymes. Ultrastructure analysis showed that CSPs damaged the bacterial cell wall and increased permeability. At 0.313 mg/mL, CSPs significantly increased the activity of alkaline phosphatase and lactate dehydrogenase, as well as protein leakage (p < 0.05), whereas the activity of the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle enzymes, isocitrate dehydrogenase and α-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase, were inhibited (p < 0.05). The expression levels of the TCA-related genes gltA, icd, sucA, atpA, citA, odhA, IS178_RS16090, and IS178_RS16290 are also significantly downregulated by CSP treatment (p < 0.05). Moreover, CSPs inhibit respiration and energy metabolism, including ATPase activity and adenosine triphosphate (ATP) synthesis (p < 0.05). Molecular docking determined that proanthocyanidins B1 and C1, the main components of CSPs, are responsible for the antibacterial activity. Therefore, as natural antibacterial substances, CSPs have considerable potential for development and application as natural food preservatives.

Abstract
Introduction: Astragalus membranaceus Fisch. ex Bunge is a traditional botanical drug with antibacterial, antioxidant, antiviral, and other biological activities. In the process of industrialization of A. membranaceus, most of the aboveground stems and leaves are discarded without resource utilization except for a small amount of low-value applications such as composting. This study explored the antibacterial activity of A. membranaceus stem and leaf extracts to evaluate its potential as a feed antibiotic substitute. Materials and methods: The antibacterial activity of the flavonoid, saponin, and polysaccharide fractions in A. membranaceus stems and leaves was evaluated by the disk diffusion method. The inhibitory activity of the flavonoid fraction from A. membranaceus stems and leaves on B. cereus was explored from the aspects of the growth curve, cell wall, cell membrane, biofilm, bacterial protein, and virulence factors. On this basis, the flavonoid fraction in A. membranaceus stems and leaves were isolated and purified by column chromatography to determine the main antibacterial components. Results: The flavonoid fraction in A. membranaceus stems and leaves had significant inhibitory activity against B. cereus, and the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) were 1.5625 and 6.25 mg/mL, respectively. A. membranaceus stem and leaf flavonoid fraction can induce death of B. cereus in many ways, such as inhibiting growth, destroying cell wall and cell membrane integrity, inhibiting biofilm formation, inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, and downregulating virulence factor expression. In addition, it was clear that the main flavonoid with antibacterial activity in A. membranaceus stems and leaves was isoliquiritigenin. Molecular docking showed that isoliquiritigenin could form a hydrogen bonding force with FtsZ. Conclusion: A. membranaceus stem and leaf flavonoid fractions had significant inhibitory activity against B. cereus, and the main chemical composition was isoliquiritigenin.

Abstract
Klebsiella is a common dangerous pathogen for humans and animals and is widely present in the digestive system. The genus Klebsiella is ubiquitous, as it is endemic to surface water, soil, and sewage. In this study, 70 samples were obtained from soil-dwelling invertebrates from September 2021 to March 2022 from Taif and Shafa in different altitudinal regions of Saudi Arabia. Fifteen of these samples were identified as Klebsiella spp. The Klebsiella isolates were genetically identified as Klebsiella pneumoniae using rDNA sequencing. The antimicrobial susceptibility of the Klebsiella isolates was determined. Amplification of virulence genes was performed using PCR. In this study, 16S rDNA sequencing showed a similarity from 98% to 100% with related K. pneumonia from the NCBI database, and the sequences were deposited in the NCBI GenBank under accession numbers ON077036 to ON077050. The growth inhibition properties of ethanolic and methanolic extracts of the medicinal plant Rhazya stricta's leaves against K. pneumoniae strains using the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) method and disc diffusion were evaluated. In addition, the biofilm inhibitory potential of these extracts was investigated using crystal violet. HPLC analysis identified 19 components divided into 6 flavonoids, 11 phenolic acids, stilbene (resveratrol), and quinol, and revealed variations in the number of components and their quantities between extracts. Both extracts demonstrated interesting antibacterial properties against K. pneumoniae isolates. The 2 extracts also showed strong biofilm inhibitory activities, with percentages of inhibition extending from 81.5% to 98.7% and from 35.1% to 85.8% for the ethanolic and methanolic extracts, respectively. Rhazya stricta leaf extract revealed powerful antibacterial and antibiofilm activities against K. pneumoniae isolates and could be a good candidate for the treatment or prevention of K. pneumonia-related infections.

Abstract
Succinic acid (SA) has been produced from rice straw (RS) and sugarcane bagasse (SB) as low-cost feedstocks in this study through sequential peracetic acid (PA) and alkaline peroxide (AP) pretreatment assisted by ultrasound and pre-hydrolysis followed by simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (PSSF). The effect of yeast extract (YE) concentration, inoculum concentration, and biomass type on SA production was investigated. The results showed that SA production from RS and SB was significantly affected by the YE concentration. Final concentration and yield of SA produced were significantly increased along with the increasing of YE concentration. Moreover, inoculum concentration significantly affected the SA production from SB. Higher inoculum concentration led to higher SA production. On the other hand, SA production from RS was not significantly affected by the inoculum concentration. Using RS as the feedstock, the highest SA production was achieved on the medium containing 15 g/L YE with 5 % v/v inoculum, obtaining SA concentration and yield of 3.64 ± 0.1 g/L and 0.18 ± 0.05 g/g biomass, respectively. Meanwhile, the highest SA production from SB was acquired on the medium containing 10 g/L YE with 7.5 % v/v inoculum, resulting SA concentration and yield of 5.1 ± 0.1 g/L and 0.25 ± 0.05 g/g biomass, respectively. This study suggested that RS and SB are potential to be used as low-cost feedstocks for sustainable and environmentally friendly SA production through ultrasonic-assisted PA and AP pretreatment and PSSF.

Abstract
Eimeria spp. causes eimeriosis in the guts of numerous domestic mammals and poultry, and the employment of medication and the effects of certain aspects of synthetic anticoccidials in the treatment of eimeriosis have given rise to the appearance of resistant parasites that require the search for alternate remedies. Natural products, which are safe and have no negative impact on the environment, may be utilized in the therapy of an enormous range of parasitic infections. This research aimed to assess the effectiveness of VVLE on the oocyst sporulation of an E. papillate infection in the mouse jejunum. In addition, obtaining the ideal concentration will interrupt the parasite's life cycle and limit infection. In vitro: Collected unsporulated oocysts (1 × 103) of E. papillata were given six different concentrations (w/v) of Vitis vinifera leaf extract (10, 25, 50, 100, 150, and 200 mg/mL) and toltrazuril (25 mg/mL), three replicates per group, whereas the control group received 2.5% potassium dichromate solution. In vivo: The mice were separated into six groups; the first and second groups did not receive infection, whilst the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth groups were each given 1 × 103 sporulated oocysts of E. papillate in the experiment. In addition, an oral dosage of 100 and 200 mg/kg VVLE were given to the fourth and fifth groups, while the sixth group was given toltrazuril at 25 mg/kg. On the fifth day, unpopulated oocysts were collected from each mouse separately. The incubation period and treatments had considerable impacts on the rate of sporulation. The infrared spectroscopy of V. vinifera extract revealed many expected active classes of chemical compounds. Further, the infection of mice with E. papillata caused an oocyst output of nearly 2 × 104 oocysts/g of faeces. VVLE significantly decreased the oocyst output to nearly 88%. In addition, we detected an inhibitory effect on the sporulation (%) and harm (%) of E. papillata oocysts in a dosage-dependent modality compared with the control group. Furthermore, they destroyed the oocyst morphology in terms of the shape, size, and quantity of sporocysts. The results indicate that grape vines have powerful activity as anticoccidials.

Abstract
Here, a comprehensive review of sugarcane industrialization and its relationship with bioactive compounds (BCs) detected in various products and by-products generated during its processing is presented. Furthermore, it is discussed how these compounds have revealed important antioxidant, antineoplastic, antidiabetic, and antimicrobial activities. From this bibliographic research highlights the significance of two types of BCs of natural origin (phenolic compounds (PCs) and terpenoids) and a group of compounds synthesized during industrial transformation processes (Maillard reaction products (MRPs)). It was found that most of the studies about the BCs from sugarcane have been conducted by identifying, isolating, and analyzing ones or a few compounds at a specific period, this being a conventional approach. However, given the complexity of the synthesis processes of all these BCs and the biological activities they can manifest in a specific biological context, novel approaches are needed to address these analyses holistically. To overcome this challenge, integrating massive and multiscale methods, such as omics sciences, seems necessary to enrich these studies. This work is intended to contribute to the state of the art that could support future research about the exploration, characterization, or evaluation of different bioactive molecules from sugarcane and its derivatives.

Abstract
Billions of tons of agro-industrial residues are produced worldwide. This is associated with the risk of pollution as well as management and economic problems. Simultaneously, non-edible portions of many crops are rich in bioactive compounds with valuable properties. For this reason, developing various methods for utilizing agro-industrial residues as a source of high-value by-products is very important. The main objective of the paper is a review of the newest studies on biologically active compounds included in non-edible parts of crops with the highest amount of waste generated annually in the world. The review also provides the newest data on the chemical and biological properties, as well as the potential application of phytochemicals from such waste. The review shows that, in 2020, there were above 6 billion tonnes of residues only from the most popular crops. The greatest amount is generated during sugar, oil, and flour production. All described residues contain valuable phytochemicals that exhibit antioxidant, antimicrobial and very often anti-cancer activity. Many studies show interesting applications, mainly in pharmaceuticals and food production, but also in agriculture and wastewater remediation, as well as metal and steel industries.

The present work aims to evaluate concentration of polyphenolics and the mode of action of aqueous extract from jaboticaba peels against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Jaboticaba peel extract showed minimum inhibitory concentration and minimum bactericidal concentration against S. aureus of 5.1 g L-1 and 10.1 g L-1, respectively; meanwhile, against E. coli the parameters were 2.0 g L-1 and 3.4 g L-1. Kinetics of viable cell counts indicated a bacteriolytic action against both bacteria and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) showed that jaboticaba peel extract causes subtle morphological changes in bacterial cells. Concentration of total polyphenols in the extract was 1535.04±36.05 mg of gallic acid equivalent (GAE) mL-1, monomeric anthocyanins was 14.52 ± 0.98 mg of cyanidin 3-glucoside mL-1, condensed tannins was 0.49 ± 0.05 mg of epicatechin equivalent mL-1 and phenolic acids was 80.04 ± 4.11 mg of caffeic acid equivalent (CAE) mL-1, which have demonstrated well-documented antibacterial activity. In conclusion, jaboticaba peel aqueous extract may be an interesting natural preservative to control Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria growth when interacting with the bacteria cell wall.

Abstract
Intensive livestock and poultry farming in China largely relied on the use of in-feed antibiotics until July 2020. The consequences of antibiotic overuse in animal feed include accumulation in animal products and the development of bacterial antibiotic resistance, both of which threaten food safety and human health. China has now completely banned the circulation of commercial feed containing growth-promoting drug additives (except Chinese herbal medicine). Therefore, alternatives to in-feed antibiotics in animal production are greatly needed. Natural phenolic compounds (NPCs) exist widely in plants and are non-toxic, non-polluting, highly reproducible, and leave little residue. Many natural flavonoids, phenolic acids, lignans, and stilbenes have polyphenol chemical structures and exhibit great potential as alternatives to antibiotics. In this review we delineate the characteristics of plant-derived NPCs and summarize their current applications as alternatives to in-feed antibiotics, aiming to provide new strategies for antibiotic-free feeding and promote the development of more sustainable animal husbandry practices.

Abstract
An increased number antibiotic-resistant bacteria have emerged with the rise in antibiotic use worldwide. As such, there has been a growing interest in investigating novel antibiotics against antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Due to the extensive history of using plants for medicinal purposes, scientists and medical professionals have turned to plants as potential alternatives to common antibiotic treatments. Unlike other antibiotics in use, plant-based antibiotics have the innate ability to eliminate a broad spectrum of microorganisms through phytochemical defenses, including compounds such as alkaloids, organosulfur compounds, phenols, coumarins, and terpenes. In recent years, these antimicrobial compounds have been refined through extraction methods and tested against antibiotic-resistant strains of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. The results of the experiments demonstrated that plant extracts successfully inhibited bacteria independently or in combination with other antimicrobial products. In this review, we examine the use of plant-based antibiotics for their utilization against antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections. In addition, we examine recent clinical trials utilizing phytochemicals for the treatment of several microbial infections.

Abstract
The sugarcane processing industry generates a large amount of straw, which has a negative environmental impact, and high costs are associated with their elimination, wasting their potential bioactive value attributed to their richness in polyphenols. In this study, an ethanolic extract produced from sugarcane straw was screened for its phenolic compounds content, and the potential use of this extract in the development of a food ingredient was further evaluated. Fifty different secondary metabolites belonging to the hydroxybenzoic acids, hydroxycinnamic acids, and flavonoids were identified by liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-ultrahigh-resolution-quadrupole time of flight-mass spectrometry (LC-ESI-UHR-QqTOF-MS). The predominant phenolic compounds found were 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde, chlorogenic acid, and 5-O-feruloylquinic acid. The obtained extracts showed strong potential as food preservatives by exhibiting (a) antioxidant activity using both 2.2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) diammonium salt radical cation (ABTS) and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) methods; and (b) antimicrobial capacity, with a minimum inhibitory concentration of 50 mg/mL for Staphylococcus aureus, 74% inhibition for Bacillus cereus, and 44% for Salmonella enterica; and (c) the capacity to inhibit a food browning enzyme, tyrosinase (28-73% for 1-8 mg/ mL). Moreover, the extracts showed antidiabetic potential by inhibiting the enzymes α-glucosidase (15-38% for 1.25-5.00 mg/mL) and dipeptidyl peptidase-IV (DPP-IV) (62-114% for 0.31-5.00 mg/mL). The extract (0.625 mg/mL) also exhibited the capacity to reduce proinflammatory mediators (i.e., interleukins 6 and 8, and tumor necrosis factor alpha) when Caco-2 cells were stimulated with interleukin 1 beta. Thus, sugarcane straw extract, which is rich in phenolic compounds, showed high potential to be used in the development of food-preservative ingredients owing to its antioxidant and antimicrobial potential, and to be explored as a food supplement in diabetes prevention and as coadjuvant to reduce intestinal inflammation by reducing proinflammatory mediators.

Abstract
Quercetin, as a flavonol compound found in plants, has a variety of biological activities. It is widely present in nature and the human diet, with powerful oxidative properties and biological activities. In this review, the antioxidant mechanism and broad-spectrum antibacterial properties of quercetin are revealed; the intervention effects of quercetin on pesticide poisoning and the pathway of action are investigated; the toxic effects of main mycotoxins on the collection and the detoxification process of quercetin are summarized; whether it is able to reduce the toxicity of mycotoxins is proved; and the harmful effects of heavy metal poisoning on the collection, the prevention, and control of quercetin are evaluated. This review is expected to enrich the understanding of the properties of quercetin and promote its better application in clinical practice.

Abstract
Inappropriate and disproportionate antibiotic use contributes immensely to the development of antibiotic resistance in bacterial species associated with food contamination. Therefore, alternative strategies to treat multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacterial infections are urgently needed. In this study, verbascoside was shown to exhibit excellent antibacterial activity and synergistic effects in combination with cell wall synthesis-inhibiting antibiotics, indicating that it can be used as an adjuvant to restore or increase the activity of antibiotics against resistant pathogens. In a mechanistic study, higher concentrations of verbascoside resulted in a longer lag phase and a lower specific exponential-phase growth rate of bacteria. Furthermore, verbascoside exerted its antimicrobial activity through multiple mechanisms, including cell membrane dysfunction, biofilm eradication and changes in cell morphology. The promising antibacterial activity and in vitro safety assessment results suggested that verbascoside can be used as a food additive for fresh meat preservation. Treatment with medium and high doses of verbascoside caused significant bacterial death in meat samples, slowed the spoilage rate, and extended the shelf life. Collectively, verbascoside is expected to be useful as an antibiotic adjuvant to prevent or treat resistant bacteria-related infections and an alternative novel antimicrobial additive in the food industry.

Abstract
Quercetin, an essential plant flavonoid, possesses a variety of pharmacological activities. Extensive literature investigates its antimicrobial activity and possible mechanism of action. Quercetin has been shown to inhibit the growth of different Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria as well as fungi and viruses. The mechanism of its antimicrobial action includes cell membrane damage, change of membrane permeability, inhibition of synthesis of nucleic acids and proteins, reduction of expression of virulence factors, mitochondrial dysfunction, and preventing biofilm formation. Quercetin has also been shown to inhibit the growth of various drug-resistant microorganisms, thereby suggesting its use as a potent antimicrobial agent against drug-resistant strains. Furthermore, certain structural modifications of quercetin have sometimes been shown to enhance its antimicrobial activity compared to that of the parent molecule. In this review, we have summarized the antimicrobial activity of quercetin with a special focus on its mechanistic principle. Therefore, this review will provide further insights into the scientific understanding of quercetin’s mechanism of action, and the implications for its use as a clinically relevant antimicrobial agent.

Abstract
Sugarcane contains various anthocyanins, which are responsible for the colors present in sugarcane. In this study, the color intensification of the major anthocyanin, cyanidin-3-O-glucoside, by phenolic acids/aldehydes (ferulic acid, vanillic acid, p-coumaric acid, syringic aldehyde and vanillic aldehyde) was investigated. The color enhancement of cyanidin-3-O-glucoside (hyperchromic effect and bathochromic shift) was affected by the temperature and concentration of phenolic acids/aldehydes present. Reactions were spontaneous and exothermic, as determined using different thermodynamic parameters (ΔG0, ΔH0, ΔS0). Quantum chemical calculations demonstrated their intermolecular interaction differences, and AIM analysis indicated that hydrogen bonds and van der Waals force interactions contributed to color. Pyranoanthocyanins derived from cyanidin-3-O-glucoside and ferulic/p-coumaric acids during storage were recognized as cyanidin-3-O-glucoside-vinylphenol and cyanidin-3-O-glucoside-vinylguaiacol, respectively, by UPLC-ESI-QTOF-MS/MS. The electron-donating substituents on the aromatic ring of ferulic/p-coumaric acids stabilized the intermediately formed carbenium ion. Decarboxylation and further oxidation of the pyran moieties to the aromatic heterocycles resulted in the final products.

Abstract
Polyphenolic compounds have many benefits, one of which being their efficacy as antioxidants. They can be extracted from various parts of plants and from agricultural waste. In this research, sugarcane pulp, and empty palm fruit bunches from the palm oil production were investigated as potential raw materials. This study aims to determine solvents and easy-to-perform extraction methods that show the highest effectivity in regards to total phenolic and flavonoid yield and the correlated antioxidant activity. Extraction methods comprised maceration, Soxhlet extraction, and ultrasound assisted extraction (UAE); solvents that were investigated included water, 70% methanol and 70% ethanol. The antioxidant activity was measured by the DPPH (diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method and FRAP (Ferric Reduction Ability of Plasma) method. Based on the amount of polyphenol compounds as well as the antioxidant activity, the experiments showed that Soxhlet extraction with 70% methanol as solvent worked best for palm bunch waste and sugar cane pulp, resulted in about two times higher values for total phenolic content, flavonoid content and FRAP antioxidant activity as well as extract mass (yield) compared to the results from other extraction methods or solvents used in this experiment. The antioxidant activity of the extracts as measured by DPPH method seemed also to be promising, although the trend among solvent and extraction method was rather inconclusive.

Abstract
As a C4 energy crop widely planted all over the world, sweet sorghum is mainly used in sugar making and brewing. Fresh sweet sorghum stalks contain many natural ingredients that have antioxidant properties and can significantly inhibit the growth of foodborne pathogens. In this study, the polyphenols in sweet sorghum were extracted by acid ethanol and ion precipitation, and the types of polyphenols were determined by HPLC-MS. The polyphenol content in fresh sweet sorghum stalks was 5.77 mg/g after process optimization with 18 types of phenolic acids identified. The extract had a total antioxidant capacity of 9.4 μmol Trolox/mL. Polyphenol extract of sweet sorghum displayed antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Listeria spp., and Salmonella spp. The extract increased the conductivity of cell suspensions by destroying the membrane structure, resulting in leakage of cell electrolytes. Changes in bacterial morphology and internal structure were indicated. The data describe an optimized process to extract polyphenols from sweet sorghum stalks and the methodology to identify the major components within the extract. The data provide a novel option for the comprehensive utilization of fresh sweet sorghum stalks.

Abstract
Current strategies of combating bacterial infections are limited and involve the use of antibiotics and preservatives. Each of these agents has generally inadequate efficacy and a number of serious adverse effects. Thus, there is an urgent need for new antimicrobial drugs and food preservatives with higher efficacy and lower toxicity. Edible plants have been used in medicine since ancient times and are well known for their successful antimicrobial activity. Often photosensitizers are present in many edible plants; they could be a promising source for a new generation of drugs and food preservatives. The use of photodynamic therapy allows enhancement of antimicrobial properties in plant photosensitizers. The purpose of this review is to present the verified data on the antimicrobial activities of photodynamic phytochemicals in edible species of the world’s flora, including the various mechanisms of their actions.

Abstract
Quercetin, a bioactive secondary metabolite, holds incredible importance in terms of bioactivities, which has been proved by in vivo and in vitro studies. The treatment of cardiovascular and neurological diseases by quercetin has been extensively investigated over the past decade. Quercetin is present naturally in appreciable amounts in fresh produce (fruits and vegetables). However, today, corresponding to the growing population and global demand for fresh fruits and vegetables, a paradigm shift and focus is laid towards exploring industrial food wastes and/or byproducts as a new resource to obtain bioactive compounds such as quercetin. Based on the available research reports over the last decade, quercetin has been suggested as a reliable therapeutic candidate for either treating or alleviating health issues, mainly those of cardiovascular and neurological diseases. In the present review, we have summarized some of the critical findings and hypotheses of quercetin from the available databases foreseeing its future use as a potential therapeutic agent to treat cardiovascular and neurological diseases. It is anticipated that this review will be a potential reference material for future research activities to be undertaken on quercetin obtained from fresh produce as well as their respective processing wastes/byproducts that rely on the circular concept.

Abstract
In this work, detailed life cycle assessment (LCA) and techno-economic analysis (TEA) of a novel lactic acid (LA) production process from sugarcane bagasse is performed, with the objective of identifying process improvement opportunities. Moreover, this is first such study in the Indian context. Experimental data generated at the Vasantdada Sugar Institute (VSI) for upstream processes is combined with ASPEN Plus simulation of the downstream steps for a commercial plant producing 104 tonnes per day of LA. Equipment sizing is performed and costing is done using standard approaches. OpenLCA is used to develop the LCA model and Ecoinvent database is used to quantify life cycle impacts for 1 kg of LA. Different scenarios for the LA plant are studied. Results showed that the pretreatment stage was crucial from both economic and environmental perspectives. The total life cycle climate change impact for production of 1 kg of lactic acid was 4.62 kg CO2 eq. The product cost of LA was USD 2.9/kg, and a payback time of 6 years was achieved at a selling price of USD 3.21/kg. Scenario analysis has revealed that lactic acid plant annexed to a sugar mill led to significant environmental and economic benefits. Sensitivity analysis has identified opportunities to reduce the life cycle climate change impact to 2.29 kg CO2 eq. and product cost to USD 1.42/kg through reduced alkali consumption, higher solid loading, and reduced enzyme loading.

Abstract
Plant polyphenols have an array of health benefits primarily thought to be related to their high content of anti-oxidants. These are commonly undervalued and knowledge of their biological properties have grown exponentially in the last decade. Polyphenol-rich sugarcane extract (PRSE), a natural extract from sugar cane, is marketed as high in anti-oxidants and polyphenols, but its anti-cancer activity has not been reported previously. We show that, PRSE exerts anti-cancer properties on a range of cancer cells including human (LIM2045) and mouse (MC38, CT26) colon cancer cells lines; human lung cancer (A549), human ovarian cancer (SKOV-3), pro-monocytic human leukemia (U937) and to mouse melanoma (B16) cell lines; whereas no effects were noted on human breast (ZR-75-1) and human colon (HT29) cancer cell lines, as well as to human normal colon epithelial cell line (T4056). Anti-proliferative effects were shown to be mediated via alteration in cytokines, VEGF-1 and NF-κB expression.

Abstract
The main objective of this study was to investigate the antibacterial activity and mechanism of Litsea cubeba essential oil (LCEO) against Acinetobacter baumannii. The antibacterial activity was examined by a serial dilution method and growth curves. The essential oil showed strong activity against A. baumannii. The mechanism of the antibacterial action was evaluated by the integrity and permeability of the membrane, scanning electron microscopy ( SEM) and SDS-PAGE. The change in permeability of the cell membrane and leakage of cell intracellular biomacromolecules verified that LCEO has an obvious effect on the cell membrane. SEM showed the damaging effect of the essential oil on cells since the morphology of the treated bacteria was significantly changed. Different expression of proteins indicated the effect of the essential oil on protein synthesis. It is suggested that LCEO with both emulsifying and antibacterial activities, has a potential to serve as an inhibitor against A. baumannii.

Abstract
Abstract This study aimed to investigate the extraction of total phenolic compounds of sugarcane bagasse using various solvents. In addition, the Sugarcane Bagasse Water Extract (SBWE) was used in refrigerated fresh meat as natural preservative. The fresh meat was dipped into water solutions containing various phenolic compounds concentrations (T1:125, T2:250 and T3:500 ppm). During 10 days of storage at 4 °C for all the treated samples were compared with untreated one. The results revealed that SBWE showed relevant values of total phenolic compounds (17.90 mg/g) and total flavonoids content (4.50 mg/g), as well as 45.90% of antioxidant content. On the other hand, microbiological examination and sensory evaluation have turned out to be the best treatment for T3:500 ppm. The SBWE showed an antibacterial impact on Staphylococcus sp. and a reduction in the Total Plate Count and in the group of Psychrotrophs. The shelf-life of refrigerated fresh meat treated with SBWE by dipping it into water solutions was also extended to more than 10 days.

Abstract
Quercetin is a flavonoid compound widely present in plants and exhibits a variety of biological activities. Research on quercetin has shown its potential for medical application. In this research, we elucidate its antioxidant mechanism and the broad-spectrum antibacterial and antiparasite properties; summarise its potential application in antioncology and cardiovascular protection and anti-immunosuppression treatment; and demonstrate its ability to alleviate the toxicity of mycotoxins. This research is expected to offer some insights and inspirations for the further study of quercetin, its properties, and the scientific basis for its better application in clinical practice.
