Abstract
An applicable and highly efficient methodology for the preparation of medium- and long-chain triglycerides (MLCTs) via the enzymatic transesterification of coconut oil with long-chain fatty acid triglycerides, named camellia oil, olive oil, linseed oil, algal oil, and rapeseed oil, respectively, has been proposed. The novel system achieved equilibrium in 5 min, and the MLCT yield ranged from 78.7 to 83.8 %. This is the fastest record reported to date. The catalytic efficiency of the novel biocatalyst, CSL@HMS-C8, was 140 g/g•h, 1.43 times higher compared to the control (free lipase), and it retained 62.5 % of its relative activity after 15 cycles. A UPLC-MS provided an accurate structural analysis of the MLCTs, and molecular docking analysis was performed to understand the binding interactions between the protein and molecules. The method of preparing MLCT enriched with functional fatty acids in this paper is efficient, broadly applicable, economical, and promising for industrial applications.

Abstract
Candida antarctica lipase B (CALB) is regarded as non-regiospecific. This study aimed to investigate the regiospecificity of CALB in the solvent-free interesterification of high-oleic sunflower oil with stearic acid ethyl ester for 1,3-distearoyl-2-oleoylglycerol (SOS)-rich fat preparation using a packed bed reactor. The content ratio of 1,2-distearoyl-3-oleoylglycerol (SSO) to SOS (denoted by SSO/SOS content) obtained using Lipozyme 435 (a commercially immobilized CALB; 0-4.1%), at residence times (1-32 min) was similar to that obtained using Lipozyme RM IM (0-3.0%), but lower than that obtained using Lipozyme TL IM (6.0-39.4%). When immobilized on Lewatit VP OC 1600, Lipozyme CALB had an SSO/SOS content of 0-10.4%, which was greater than that of Palatase 20,000 L (0-1.1%) but was lower than that of Lipozyme TL 100 L (8.8-97.7%). Our findings suggest that immobilized CALB shows distinct sn-1,3 regiospecificity in the interesterification of triacylglycerol with fatty acid ethyl esters.

Abstract
This study evaluated bati butter (Ouratea parviflora) as a substrate for lipase production by solid-state fermentation (SSF) using Aspergillus terreus NRRL-255. A gas chromatograph with a flame ionization detector determined the bati butter fatty acid profile. Lipase production and spore count were optimized using a 32 experimental design and evaluated using the response surface methodology. Moreover, the crude enzyme extract was evaluated against different pH, temperature, and activating and inhibitors reagents. Regarding the fatty acids identified, long-chain accounted for 78.60% of the total lipids. The highest lipase production was obtained at 35 °C and 120 h of fermentation, yielding 216.9 U g-1. Crude enzyme extract presented more significant activity at 37 °C and pH 9. β-Mercaptoethanol increased the enzyme activity (113.80%), while sodium dodecyl sulfate inactivated the enzyme. Therefore, bati butter proved to be a potential substrate capable of inducing lipase production by solid-state fermentation.

Abstract
Glycerol is a common by-product of industrial biodiesel syntheses. Due to its properties, availability, and versatility, residual glycerol can be used as a raw material in the production of high value-added industrial inputs and outputs. In particular, products like hydrogen, propylene glycol, acrolein, epichlorohydrin, dioxalane and dioxane, glycerol carbonate, n-butanol, citric acid, ethanol, butanol, propionic acid, (mono-, di-, and triacylglycerols), cynamoil esters, glycerol acetate, benzoic acid, and other applications. In this context, the present study presents a critical evaluation of the innovative technologies based on the use of residual glycerol in different industries, including the pharmaceutical, textile, food, cosmetic, and energy sectors. Chemical and biochemical catalysts in the transformation of residual glycerol are explored, along with the factors to be considered regarding the choice of catalyst route used in the conversion process, aiming at improving the production of these industrial products.

Abstract
A novel greener MNC/PES membrane was developed through an electrospinning technique for lipase immobilization to catalyze the synthesis of ethyl valerate (EV). In this study, the covalent immobilization of Aspergillus oryzae lipase (AOL) onto an electrospun nanofibrous membrane consisting of magnetic nanocellulose (MNC) and polyethersulfone (PES) to produce EV was statistically optimized. Raman spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy: attenuated total reflection, field emission scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), and differential thermal gravimetric (DTG) of MNC/PES-AOL demonstrated that AOL was successfully immobilized onto the fibers. The Taguchi design-assisted immobilization of AOL onto MNC/PES fibers identified that 1.10 mg/mL protein loading, 4 mL reaction volume, 250 rpm stirring rate, and 50 °C were optimal to yield 72.09% of EV in 24 h. The thermal stability of MNC/PES-AOL was improved by ≈20% over the free AOL, with reusability for up to five consecutive esterification cycles while demonstrating an exceptional half-life of 120 h. Briefly, the electrospun MNC/PES fibers that immobilized AOL showed promising applicability in yielding relatively good EV levels. This study suggests that using MNC as fillers in a PES to improve AOL activity and durability for a longer catalytic process could be a viable option.

Abstract
This study sought to prepare a cognitive enhancer l-α-glycerylphosphorylcholine (l-α-GPC) using an immobilized Lecitase Ultra (LU, phospholipase A1) to catalyze the hydrolysis of soy phosphatidylcholine (PC). Immobilization of LU on Lewatit VP OC 1600 provided the highest fixation level (83.1 g/100 g) and greatest catalytic activity achieving 100 g/100 g l-α-GPC within 20 h and was therefore selected as the optimal system for biocatalysis. Immobilization of LU increased its positional specificity compared to free LU, as shown by a decrease in the production of the phosphocholine byproduct. Under the optimal conditions determined by response surface methodology, PC was completely hydrolyzed to l-α-GPC and required a simple purification via phase separation of the biphasic media to obtain a yield of ∼26.4 g l-α-GPC from 100 g PC, with a purity of 98.5 g/100 g. Our findings suggest a possibility of using the immobilized LU as a new biocatalyst for the l-α-GPC production.

This study aimed to prepare MLCTs rich in α-linolenic by enzymatic interesterification of perilla oil and medium-chain triacylglycerols (MCTs), catalyzed by Lipozyme RM IM, Lipozyme TL IM, Lipozyme 435, and Novozyme 435 respectively. RESULTS The effects of lipase loading, concentration of MCTs, reaction temperature, and reaction time on the yield of MLCTs were investigated. It was found that the reaction achieved more than a 70% yield of MLCTs in triacylglycerols under the conditions of 400 g kg-1 MCTs and 60 g kg-1 lipase loading after equilibrium. A novel two-stage deodorization was also applied to purify the interesterification products. The triacylglycerols reach over 97% purity in the products with significant removal (P < 0.05) of the free fatty acids, and the trans fatty acids were strictly controlled at below 1%. There was more than 40% α-linolenic in the purified products, with long-chain fatty acids mostly occupying the desired sn-2 position in acylglycerols, which are more active in hydrolysis. CONCLUSION A series of novel α-linolenic acid-rich medium- and long-chain triacylglycerols was prepared. Under appropriate reaction conditions, the yield of MLCTs in triacylglycerols was above 70%. A novel two-stage deodorization can be used to promote the elimination of free fatty acids and limit the generation of trans fatty acids. © 2020 Society of Chemical Industry.
