Abstract
Grapes are fruits widely grown and known throughout the world, and they have significant economic and nutritional value. However, grapes are highly susceptible to attack by pests and insects, which reduces production and product quality. Pesticides are the most utilized solution for meeting global consumption demands and avoiding losses, and they can be used at any production stage. Although the benefits of using pesticides in grape production are evident, the prescribed limits must be observed to minimize their harmful effects on human health, as the accumulation of these compounds in the body over the long term can decrease life expectancy. This review of the literature intends to give a comprehensive analysis of pesticide residues in grape juice and wine, investigate analytical methodologies for pesticide detection, and set maximum residue limits (MRLs). Furthermore, the impacts of pesticide use and exposure to residues on the gut microbiota and adverse effects on human health were examined. Finally, insights into advances in detection and removal methods to mitigate the impact of pesticide residues in grape wine were presented. This review considers future perspectives in the field, including the development of safe and sustainable pesticides, with the improvement of international regulations to ensure food safety, aiming to expand pre-existing knowledge to provide more sustainable agricultural practices, encouraging global wine production. The target audience for this review includes researchers and academics, professionals in the agricultural and wine industry, regulators and government authorities, health professionals, and health and food safety-conscious consumers.

Abstract
This study systematically investigates the residue changes, processing factors (PFs), and relation between the physicochemical properties of pesticides during peanut processing. Results revealed that peeling, washing, and boiling treatments removed partial or substantial pesticide residues from peanuts with PFs of 0.29-1.10 (most <1). By contrast, pesticides appeared to be partially concentrated during roasting, stir-frying, and deep-frying peanuts with PFs of 0.16-1.25. During oil pressing, 13 of the 28 pesticides were concentrated in the peanut oil (PF range: 1.06-2.01) and 25 of the pesticides were concentrated in the peanut meal (1.07-1.46). Physicochemical parameters such as octanol-water partition coefficient, degradation point, molecular weight, and melting point showed significant correlations with PFs during processing. Notably, log Kow exhibited strong positive correlations with the PFs of boiling, roasting, and oil pressing. Overall, this study describes the fate of pesticides during multiproduct processing, providing guidance to promote the healthy consumption of peanuts for human health.

Abstract
The effectiveness, tolerance, and safety of pesticides must be established before their scientific or rational. This study evaluates the field control efficacy of broflanilide, tetraniliprole, and chlorantraniliprole in combating Spodoptera frugiperda in maize crops, as well as the resistance of S. frugiperda to these three diamide pesticides after exposure. By assessing field control efficiency, toxicity, effects on development and reproduction, and detoxification enzyme activity of these diamide pesticides on S. frugiperda, highlights broflanilide's significant insecticidal potential. A highly sensitive and efficient method using QuEChERS/HPLCMS/MS was developed to simultaneously detect residues of these three pesticides on maize. Initial concentrations of broflanilide, tetraniliprole, and chlorantraniliprole ranged from 2.13 to 4.02 mg/kg, with their respective half-lives varying between 1.23 and 1.51 days. Following foliar application, by the time of harvest, the terminal residue concentrations of these pesticides were all under 0.01 mg/kg. Chronic dietary intake risk assessments and cumulative chronic dietary exposure for three pesticides indicated that the general population's terminal residue concentration was within acceptable limits. Not only does this research provide valuable insights into field control efficiency, insecticidal effects, resistance, residues, and risk assessment results of broflanilide, tetraniliprole, and chlorantraniliprole on maize, but additionally, it also paves the way for setting suitable Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) values based on pre-harvest interval values, rational dosage, and application frequency.

Abstract
The effect of tannic acid (TA) binding on the thermal degradation of boscalid was studied in this work. The results revealed that TA binding has a significant impact on boscalid degradation. The degradation rate constant of bound boscalid was reduced, and its corresponding half-life was significantly prolonged compared to the free state. Four identical degradation products were detected in both states through UHPLC-Q-TOF-MS, indicating that degradation products were not affected by TA binding. Based on DFT and MS analysis, the degradation pathways of boscalid included hydroxyl substitution of chlorine atoms and cleavage of CN and CC bonds. The toxicity of B2 and B3 exceeded that of boscalid. In summary, the binding of TA and boscalid significantly affected the thermal degradation rate of boscalid while preserving the types of degradation products. This study contributed to a fundamental understanding of the degradation process of bound pesticide residues in complex food matrices.

Abstract
Ginger is consumed as a spice and medicine globally. However, pesticide residues in ginger and their residue changes during processing remain poorly understood. Our results demonstrate that clothianidin, carbendazim and imidacloprid were the top detected pesticides in 152 ginger samples with detection rates of 17.11-27.63%, and these pesticides had higher average residues of 44.07-97.63 μg/kg. Although most samples contained low levels of pesticides, 66.45% of the samples were detected with pesticides, and 38.82% were contaminated with 2-5 pesticides. Peeling, washing, boiling and pickling removed different amounts of pesticides from ginger (processing factor range: 0.06-1.56, most <1). By contrast, pesticide residues were concentrated by stir-frying and drying (0.50-6.45, most >1). Pesticide residues were influenced by pesticide physico-chemical parameters involving molecular weight, melting point, degradation point and octanol-water partition coefficient by different ginger processing methods. Chronic and acute dietary risk assessments suggest that dietary exposure to pesticides from ginger consumption was within acceptable levels for the general population. This study sheds light on pesticide residues in ginger from market to processing and is of theoretical and practical value for ensuring ginger quality and safety.

Abstract
This study presents a method for analyzing dimethomorph residues in lychee using QuEChERS extraction and HPLC-MS/MS. The validation parameters for this method, which include accuracy, precision, linearity, and recovery, indicate that it meets standard validation requirements. Following first-order kinetics, the dissipation dynamic of dimethomorph in lychee was determined to range from 6.4 to 9.2 days. Analysis of terminal residues revealed that residues in whole lychee were substantially greater than those in the pulp, indicating that dimethomorph residues are predominantly concentrated in the peel. When applied twice and thrice at two dosage levels with pre-harvest intervals (PHIs) of 5, 7, and 10 days, the terminal residues in whole lychee ranged from 0.092 to 1.99 mg/kg. The terminal residues of the pulp ranged from 0.01 to 0.18 mg/kg, with the residue ratio of whole lychee to pulp consistently exceeding one. The risk quotient (RQ) for dimethomorph, even at the recommended dosage, was less than one, indicating that the potential for damage was negligible. This study contributes to the establishment of maximum residue limits (MRLs) in China by providing essential information on the safe application of dimethomorph in lychee orchards.

Abstract
The residue behaviors of carbendazim, thiamethoxam, imidacloprid, acetamiprid, prochloraz, and difenoconazole during the production and accelerated storage of apple clear and cloudy juice was systemically evaluated. The pesticides were determined by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) after each processing step and at different storage times. The results indicated that the different processing steps in the apple clear and cloudy juices production have different effects on the reduction of pesticide residues. The pre-processing steps including washing and pressing reduced the pesticide residues significantly by 36.8 % to 67.9 % and 32.9 % to 89.8 %, respectively, mainly due to the water solubility and log Kow of pesticides. The enzymation step in clear juice production slightly reduced six pesticide residues from 1.9 % to 31.6 %, and the filtration step after clarification and purification decreased the pesticide residues from 14.0 % to 87.5 % with no significance, while prochloraz was not detected. The centrifugation step in cloudy juice production reduced the pesticide residues from 6.3 % to 88.9 %. The pasteurization step in clear and cloudy juice production lowered the pesticide residues slightly on account of the short heating time of 30 s. The accelerated storage of clear and cloudy juices was effective in the reduction of pesticide residue levels. The processing factors (PFs) in the whole process of clear and cloudy juice production were equal to or lower than 0.2, especially for prochloraz and difenoconazole, illustrating that apple juice production could decrease the pesticide residues greatly. The results will provide important references to predict the levels of pesticide residues in apple juice during processing and storage. Meanwhile, the PFs identified in the study could be helpful in the risk assessment of pesticides in apple juice.

Abstract
Pesticide residues in citrus may cause health risks in related juice products, and bring much uncertainty during the processing procedures. In this study, based on the dispersive solid-phase extraction (d-SPE) and UPLC-MS/MS, the residual levels of ten analytes in citrus and its processed products were monitored. The results showed that dissipation of the pesticides followed the first-order kinetics and the half-lives in citrus varied greatly, ranging from 6.36 to 63.0 days. The terminal residues of the five pesticides at harvest time were <0.01-0.302 and <0.01-0.124 mg/kg in raw citrus and citrus flesh, respectively, all of which were lower than the corresponding maximum residue limits (MRLs) of 0.5-1 mg/kg. In the processing experiments, the residues of ten analytes in sterilized juice, concentrated juice, and citrus essential oil were in the range of <0.01 to 0.442 mg/kg, <0.01 to 1.16 mg/kg, and <0.01 to 44.0 mg/kg, respectively, and the corresponding processing factors (PFs) were 0.127-1.00, 0.023-3.06, and 0.006-39.2. Particularly, in citrus essential oil, the PFs of etoxazole, fluazinam, lufenuron and spirotetramat-keto-hydroxy were 1.68-39.2, exhibiting obvious enrichment effects. By integrating the residue data of the field trials and the PFs, the acute and chronic dietary risks of the target pesticides in citrus juice were 0.031-1.83 % and 0.002-2.51 %, respectively, which were far lower than 100 %, demonstrating no unacceptable risk to human health. This work provides basic data for the establishment of the MRLs and dietary exposure risk assessment for processed citrus products.

Abstract
People with coeliac disease have a limited diet. Therefore, rice-based products are an ideal alternative. Highlighting this import item, an analytical methodology was validated to determine pesticides in rice-based product samples. The precision was satisfactory for all pesticides since the RSD did not exceed 13% in any case. Regarding recovery, the method had values close to 100%. The limit of quantification was established at 10 µg/kg and the expanded uncertainty was less than 20%. After validation, 80 samples of toasts and rice crackers were analysed. All samples were compliant with the national regulations for dichlorvos and tebuconazole. The pesticide that was present in the highest number of samples was pirimiphos - methyl, but all below the maximum residue limit. From all samples analysed, 38 were positive for at least one pesticide and only one contained four pesticides simultaneously: deltamethrin, pirimiphos-methyl, kresoxim-methyl and epoxiconazole.

Abstract
Tomatoes grown in an experimental greenhouse were sprayed with 13 selected pesticides at the recommended field doses, and used for pickle processing. Three different pickle processing techniques (natural fermentation, starter added fermentation and canning) were applied during the trials. Two strains of Lactobacillus plantarum were used as starter cultures in starter added fermentation trials. Changes in pesticide residues, pH levels and microbiological populations were periodically analysed and processing factors (PFs) were calculated at the end of the processing period. Yeasts-moulds and enterobacteria were not detected in any of the trials. Mesophilic aerobic bacteria were detected during both fermentation treatments (natural and starter added), whereas lactic acid bacteria were only observed in starter added trials. The initial pH levels of brines in all treatments were measured as 2.7 at the beginning of the processes and changed depending on the type of treatment. Lower pH values were detected in starter added treatments. Following the harvest day, significant reductions were observed in pesticide concentrations during both types of fermentation (natural and starter added) trials (p < .01) with the exception of bifenazate and abamectin. But on the contrary, residue changes were not significant (p > .05) throughout the canning process. Since bifenazate and abamectin are more stable at lower pH, their residue levels were not affected by the methods applied during fermentation processes. Only PF of canning process for bifenazate was higher than 1 and calculated as 1.17. All other PF values were lower than 1, indicating that the treatments caused degradation of the active compounds. Processing methods affected the pesticide residue levels in different ways, as a result of various degradation mechanisms.

Abstract
Before use as medicines, most traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) plants are processed and decocted. During processing, there may be some changes in pesticide residues in TCM. In recent years, reports have studied the changes of pesticides during the processes of boiling, drying and peeling of TCM materials but have rarely involved special processing methods for TCM, such as ethanol extraction and volatile oil extraction. The changes of carbendazim, carbofuran, pyridaben and tebuconazole residues in common processing methods for P. cablin products were systemically assessed in this study. After each processing step, the pesticides were quantitated by UPLC-MS/MS. The results showed amount decreases in various pesticides to different extents after each processing procedure. Processing factor (PF) values for the four pesticides after decoction, 75% ethanol extraction and volatile oil extraction were 0.02~0.75, 0.40~0.98 and 0~0.02, respectively, which indicated that residual pesticide concentrations may depend on the processing technique. A risk assessment according to the hazard quotient with PF values showed that residual pesticide amounts in P. cablin were substantially lower than levels potentially posing a health risk. Overall, these findings provide insights into the safety assessment of P. cablin.

Abstract
A simple way to reduce pesticides in cereal grains is to use washing methods. The challenge of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of reduction of 3 triazole fungicides (difenoconazole, tebuconazole, tetraconazole) and 3 pyrethroid insecticides (beta-cyfluthrin, cypermethrin, deltamethrin) commonly used in wheat protection. Four different pre-washing methods (hot and cold water washing, twice water, and ultrasound-supported washing) were evaluated. The processing factor (PF) was calculated based on the concentration of pesticides determined by LC-MS/MS in the samples of cereal grains before and after the washing process. PFs were within the range 0.01-0.97. Time, teperature and ultrasound were factors influencing the efficiency of water treatment. The study showed that ultrasound-supported washing eliminated pesticide residues to a greater extent than ordinary washing. This process significantly affected or completely reduced concentrations of triazoles in wheat grains. The highest reduction of residues (99%) was received for tebuconazole and ultrasound washing with heating temperature of 60 °C for a total of 10 min. In all washing processes, pyrethroids were removed with lower efficiency than triazoles. The lowest residue reduction was obtained for cypermethrin and washing under cold water for 5 min (3%; PF = 0.97). Beta-Cyfluthrin showed only a 6-27% reduction regardless of the process (PF: 0.73-0.95). Using static analysis, the relationship between the properties of pesticides and the reduction of their concentration in cereals was clarified and showed a strong correlation.

Abstract
Pesticides are used on fruit and vegetable crops to obtain greater yield and quality. Residues can be detected in these crops or their products if applied pesticides do not degrade naturally. Therefore, this study aimed to estimate pesticide residues in some strawberry and tomato-based products available in the market for human consumption and associated dietary risks. Contamination with 3-15 pesticides in the tested samples was found. The total number of pesticides detected in the tested samples was 20, belonging to the group of insecticides (84%) and fungicides (16%). Pesticides of cypermethrin, thiamethoxam, chlorpyrifos, and lambda-cyhalothrin appeared at 100% in a number of samples, where the most detected was cypermethrin followed by thiamethoxam. The average values of pesticide residues detected in the tested samples ranged from 0.006 to 0.568 mg kg-1, where it was found that cypermethrin had the highest residue value and appeared in strawberry jam obtained from the market. The recovery rate of pesticides from fortified samples with pyrethroids ranged from 47.5% (fenvalerate) to 127% (lambda-cyhalothrin). Home processing of fortified tomato and strawberry samples had a significant effect on reducing residues in tomato sauce and strawberry jam, where the reduction reached 100%. The results of acute and chronic risk assessment showed that their values were much lower than 100%, indicating minimal risk of dietary intake.

Abstract
A derivatization method combined with high-performance liquid chromatography-fluorescence detection (HPLC-FLD) was used to evaluate the dissipation, residue distribution and risk assessment of emamectin benzoate in whole longan and pulp. The average recoveries were 82-111% with relative standard deviation (RSD) less than 11%. The limit of quantification (LOQ) was 0.001 mg/kg in longan and pulp. The half-lives were 3.3-4.2 days. The terminal residues in whole longan were <0.001-0.025 mg/kg applied two and three times at two levels of dosage with PHIs of 10, 14, and 21 days. The residues in whole longan had a higher quantity than those in the pulp, and the terminal residues of pulp were all lower than LOQ (0.001 mg/kg). The chronic risk of emamectin benzoate was not negligible to humans depending on ADI% value, which was higher than 1; and the acute risk was acceptable to the consumer. This study could provide guidance for the safe use of emamectin benzoate in longan and serve as a reference for the establishment of maximum residue limits (MRLs) in China.

Abstract
Pesticide use is indispensable for combating diseases occurring during olive cultivation. However, this has led to challenges of pesticide residues in consumer products as a result of pesticide application errors and the methods used during processing and preservation. This work aimed to identify the effects of table olive processing and preservation techniques on the concentrations of malathion and its degradation product malaoxon. For this purpose, olive trees in an experimental olive orchard were sprayed homogeneously with malathion at a dose of 975 mg L-1 and processed as (i) vacuum-packed, (ii) alkali treated and (iii) directly brined for natural fermentation. The changes in microbial growth, pH-acidity and pesticide (malathion and malaoxon) concentrations were monitored regularly during the experiment. Lactic acid bacteria, yeast and mould growth were not detected in any of the treatments. Mesophilic aerobic bacteria and enterobacteria were the dominant microbial groups in all non-sprayed treatments, but no enterobacteria growth was detected in sprayed treatments. Lower pH values were observed in the brines of natural fermentation treatments of both sprayed and non-sprayed olives. The independent effects of time and processing method and their interactions on malathion and malaoxon concentrations were found significant (p < .05). During the experiments, the highest reduction in malathion concentration was observed in alkali treated samples (95-99%), followed by naturally fermented (77-88%) and vacuum-packed samples (74-76%). Processing factors for all treatments were lower than 1.

Abstract
Metamifop has been used to control gramineous weeds in paddy fields and may form residues in rice. In this study, the residue analysis method for metamifop and the metabolites was set up based on high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry and the chiral analysis method was also developed. The enantioselective degradation and residue of metamifop in rice processing were studied, and the major metabolites were monitored. The removal rate of metamifop by washing could reach 60.03%, while the loss in rice and porridge cooking was less than 16%. No decrease was found in fermentation into fermented grains, but metamifop was degraded in the process of rice wine fermentation with half-lives of around 9.5 days. N-(2-fluorophenyl)-2-(4-hydroxyphenoxy)-N-methylpropionamide and 6-chlorobenzo [d] oxazole-2 (3H)-one were found to be the major metabolites. This study reveals the enantioselective residue of metamifop in rice processing, which helps understand the potential risk in food consumption.

Abstract
Grapes' growth and processing conditions have various effects on pesticides with different physicochemical properties. Therefore, it is important for the healthy human diet to investigate pesticide residue behavior. To explore the relationship between pesticide residue behavior and physicochemical properties, the distribution of ten pesticides and one metabolite on grape peel and pulp was examined and the results showed that pesticides with low octanol-water partition coefficient (Kow) were more likely to be transferred to the pulp as the harvest interval increases. The removal methods were ranked according to pesticide removal effectiveness as follows: peeling > ozone water washing > tap water washing. Furthermore, the logKow played a key role in pesticide transfer rates during the juicing and winemaking. Notably, drying was the process of increasing pesticide residues. Additionally, the prediction models for the PFs of the pesticides in the juicing and winemaking processes were constructed as PFj = 0.952-0.116logKow (r = 0.886) and PFw = 0.736-0.143logKow (r = 0.959) by stepwise regression analysis. The prediction models recommended that Kow could be used to predict pesticide residues in grape juice and wine, which can predict the effect of pesticide physicochemical properties on PFs.

Abstract
This study evaluated the uptake and translocation of the fungicide picarbutrazox (PBZ) and its isomer in greenhouse cabbage. Two distinct treatments, including foliar spray and soil application of PBZ, were used in this study. In the foliar application, the fungicide was sprayed thrice at intervals of 7 days from 30, 21, and 14 days before harvest following the OECD guidelines of fungicides in crops, whereas in soil treatment, PBZ was applied for one time at concentrations of 2 and 10 mg/kg, and cabbage was cultivated for 68 days. Additionally, the role of root and translocation factors during residual fungicide distribution was demonstrated. The quality control of the analytical study exhibited excellent linearity (R2 ≥ 0.99), the limit of quantification (LOQ 0.005 mg/kg), accuracy (recovery within the range of 70-120%), and precision (relative coefficient within 0.3-13.8%) for studied PBZ and its metabolites. In the foliar application, initially higher amount of residual PBZ was evident in the outermost leaf of the cabbage, whereas in soil treatment, the highest residual PBZ was observed in the soil and roots. Therefore, the application method of picarbutrazox is a critical factor for defining the initial entry route of pesticides and the subsequent translocations through the investigated crops.

Abstract
Globally, honeysuckle is consumed as a food and administered as a medicinal agent. However, pesticide residues in honeysuckle limit its application and development of the honeysuckle industry, affecting food safety and endangering human health. Here, the degradation kinetics of 11 typical pesticides, including insecticides, fungicides, and an acaricide, in honeysuckle were investigated. The half-lives of pesticides in Henan and Liaoning fields were 1.90-4.33 and 2.05-4.62 d, respectively. The processing factors (PFs) of these pesticides after oven, sun, and shade drying ranged from 3.52 to 11.2. After decocting, the PFs of the pesticides were <1. Twenty degradation products were identified using ultra high performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry, and pathways were proposed based on drying and decoction. The ecotoxicities of the degradation products were evaluated using the Toxicity Estimation Software Tool. Finally, the acute hazard indices of these pesticides, as determined via dietary exposure assessment combined with the PFs, were 0.227 and 0.911 for adults and children, respectively. Thus, special populations, such as children, require particularly careful risk control in terms of dietary exposure.

Abstract
As the pesticide and its metabolite residues in processed fruits could become a significant route of human exposure. The work presented herein focuses on developing a feasible quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged and safe method with improved extraction and cleanup system for the determination of imidacloprid, acetamiprid, thiamethoxam and clothianidin (metabolite of thiamethoxam) in canned fruits. The low toxic solvent ethanol was used to extract the analytes, and ammonium sulfate was used to promote the phase separation. Moreover, the carboxylated multi walled carbon nanotube was acted as the clean-up sorbent for removal of high solubility impurities. The proposed method was validated with fortified real samples at different concentration levels (20∼200 μg kg-1 ). Recoveries obtained from three spiked levels (20, 50, 200 μg kg-1 ) were ranged from 74.9% to 86.4% with relative standard deviations of the intra-day and inter-day in the range of 0.8 to 5.5% and 2.0 to 7.1%, respectively. Limit of detections were ranged from 0.2 to 0.5 μg kg-1 and 0.2 to 0.6 μg kg-1 for orange and peach, respectively. The results demonstrated that the proposed method could be considered appropriate, comparatively lower toxic for the analysis of neonicotinoid pesticide residues in canned fruit. Abstract
The residue changes of five pesticides in samples from different steps of rice flour production and accelerated storage were systematically investigated. Rice flour was produced both by the extrusion process and the drying on roller process. The change of pesticide residues varied in different processing steps and storage time. The water adjusting step had little influence on the pesticide residues. The pesticide residues were decreased significantly in the extruding, soaking, and grinding steps with reduction from 21% to 76%. The drying step increased or decreased the pesticide residues in varying degrees through concentration due to water evaporation and thermal evaporation or thermal degradation. All the pesticide residues decreased during the accelerated storage, especially for methidathion and chlorpyrifos, neither was detected after accelerated stored for 14 days. The processing factors (PFs) for imidacloprid and isocarbophos in the drying step were greater than 1, and the others were all less than 1. The whole drying on roller process had lower PFs than the whole extrusion process, indicated that the drying on roller process had a greater effect on pesticide residues. The PFs of accelerated storage for five pesticides were all below 1. Overall, this study provides important references for monitoring pesticide residues in the processing and storage of rice flour. Moreover, the PFs obtained in this study could be useful in the dietary exposure and risk assessment of pesticides in rice flour.

Abstract
Baijiu is a traditional and popular Chinese liquor which is affected by the storage time. The longer the storage time of Baijiu is, the better its quality is. In this paper, the raw and mellow Baijiu samples from different storage time are discriminated accurately throughout midinfrared (MIR) spectroscopy and chemometrics. Firstly, changing regularities of the substances in Chinese Baijiu are discussed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) during the aging process. Then, infrared spectrums of Baijiu samples are processed by smoothing, multivariate baseline correction, and the first and second derivative processing, but no significant variation can be observed. Next, the spectral date pretreatment methods are constructively introduced, and principal component analysis (PCA) and discriminant analysis (DA) are developed for data analyses. The results show that the accuracy rates of samples by the DA method in calibration and validation sets are 91.7% and 100%, respectively. Consequently, an identification model based on support vector machine (SVM) and PCA is established combined with the grid search strategy and cross-validation methods to discriminate the age of Chinese Baijiu validly, where 100% classification accuracy rate is obtained in both training and test sets.
