Abstract
Cerium ions immobilized magnetic graphite nitride material have been prepared using L-Alanyl-L-Glutamine as the new chelator. The resulting Fe3O4/g-C3N4-L-Ala-L-Gln-Ce4+, as an immobilized metal ion affinity chromatography (IMAC) sorbent, was reusable. This is due to the strong coordination interaction between L-Alanyl-L-Glutamine and cerium ions. After a series of characterizations, the magnetic nanocomposite showed high surface area, good hydrophilicity, positive electricity, and magnetic response. Fe3O4/g-C3N4-L-Ala-L-Gln-Ce4+ had high sensitivity (0.1 fmol), selectivity (α-/β-casein/bovine serum albumin, 1:1:5000), and good recyclability (10 cycles). A total of 647 unique phosphopeptides mapped to 491 phosphoproteins were identified from A549 cell lysate by nano LC-MS analysis.

Abstract
Pectin is an abundant complex polysaccharide obtained from various plants. Safe, biodegradable, and edible pectin has been extensively utilized in the food industry as a gelling agent, thickener, and colloid stabilizer. Pectin can be extracted in a variety of ways, thus affecting its structure and properties. Pectin's excellent physicochemical properties make it suitable for many applications, including food packaging. Recently, pectin has been spotlighted as a promising biomaterial for manufacturing bio-based sustainable packaging films and coatings. Functional pectin-based composite films and coatings are useful for active food packaging applications. This review discusses pectin and its use in active food packaging applications. First, basic information and characteristics of pectin, such as the source, extraction method, and structural characteristics, were described. Then, various methods of pectin modification were discussed, and the following section briefly described pectin's physicochemical properties and applications in the food sector. Finally, the recent development of pectin-based food packaging films and coatings and their use in food packaging were comprehensively discussed.

Abstract
Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) is an urgent threat and unmet medical need. The current treatments for CDI are not enough to fight the burden of CDI and recurrent CDI (r-CDI). This review aims to highlight the future drugs for CDI and their related patented applications. The non-patent literature was collected from PubMed and various authentic websites of pharmaceutical industries. The patent literature was collected from free patent databases. Many possible drugs of the future for CDI, with diverse mechanisms of action, are in development in the form of microbiota-modulating agents (e.g., ADS024, CP101, RBX2660, RBX7455, SYN-004, SER-109, VE303, DAV132, MET-2, and BB128), small molecules (e.g., ridinilazole, ibezapolstat, CRS3123, DNV3837, MGB-BP-3, alanyl-L-glutamine, and TNP-2198), antibodies (e.g., IM-01 and LMN-201), and non-toxic strains of CD (e.g., NTCD-M3). The development of some therapeutic agents (e.g., DS-2969b, OPS-2071, cadazolid, misoprostol, ramoplanin, KB109, LFF571, and Ramizol) stopped due to failed clinical trials or unknown reasons. The patent literature reveals some important inventions for the existing treatments of CDI and supports the possibility of developing more and better CDI-treatment-based inventions, including patient-compliant dosage forms, targeted drug delivery, drug combinations of anti-CDI drugs possessing diverse mechanisms of action, probiotic and enzymatic supplements, and vaccines. The current pipeline of anti-CDI medications appears promising. However, it will be fascinating to see how many of the cited are successful in gaining approval from drug regulators such as the US FDA and becoming medicines for CDI and r-CDI.

Abstract
Aqueous colloidal dispersions of water-insoluble polymers (APDs) avoid hassles associated with the use of organic solvents and offer processing advantages related to their low viscosity and short processing times. Therefore, they became the main vehicle for pharmaceutical coating of tablets and multiparticulates, a process commonly employed using pan and fluidized-bed machinery. Another interesting although less common processing approach is co-spray drying APDs with drugs in aqueous systems. It enables the manufacture of capsule- and matrix-type microspheres with controllable size and improved processing characteristics in a single step. These microspheres can be further formulated into different dosage forms. This systematic review is based on published research articles and aims to highlight the applicability and opportunities of co-spray drying drugs with APDs in drug delivery.

Abstract
The Amadori compound of glucose and l-alanyl-l-glutamine (Ala-Gln-ARP) was prepared and characterized by UPLC-MS/MS and NMR. There were no pyrazines produced by heated Ala-Gln-ARP alone due to the asynchronicity of regenerated l-alanyl-l-glutamine and α-dicarbonyl compounds. High temperature (130 °C) and long reaction time could facilitate the 2,5-dimethylpyrazine formation at a small concentration (33.4 ± 3.47 μg/L). The exogenous amino substrates would lower the formation temperature of pyrazines and make it to be generated effectively. Extra supplied l-alanyl-l-glutamine could generate 2,5-dimethylpyrazine at 110 °C, while higher temperature of 140 °C could strengthen the formation of 2,5-dimethylpyrazine (793 ± 119 μg/L) and stimulate the generation of other pyrazines, including methylpyrazine and 2,6-dimethylpyrazine. The exogenous alanine, glutamic acid, and glutamine was also beneficial to enhance the pyrazines formation, especially the glutamic acid. Furthermore, alkaline pH of thermal reaction made pyrazines increase significantly than in neutral medium and further enriched their species such as unsubstituted pyrazine and trimethylpyrazine.

Abstract
Peptide/protein therapeutics have been significantly applied in the clinical treatment of various diseases such as cancer, diabetes, etc. owing to their high biocompatibility, specificity, and therapeutic efficacy. However, due to their immunogenicity, instability stemming from its complex tertiary and quaternary structure, vulnerability to enzyme degradation, and rapid renal clearance, the clinical application of protein/peptide therapeutics is significantly confined. Though nanotechnology has been demonstrated to prevent enzyme degradation of the protein therapeutics and thus enhance the half-life, issues such as initial burst release and uncontrollable release kinetics are still unsolved. Moreover, the traditional administration method results in poor patient compliance, limiting the clinical application of protein/peptide therapeutics. Exploiting the sustained-release formulations for more controllable delivery of protein/peptide therapeutics to decrease the frequency of injection and enhance patient compliance is thus greatly meaningful. In this review, we comprehensively summarize the substantial advancements of protein/peptide sustained-release systems in the past decades. In addition, the advantages and disadvantages of all these sustained-release systems in clinical application together with their future challenges are also discussed in this review.

Abstract
Current oral squamous cell carcinoma chemotherapies demonstrate off-target toxicity, which could be reduced by local delivery. Curcumin acts via many cellular targets to give anti-cancer properties; however the bioavailability is hindered by its physicochemical characteristics. The incorporation of curcumin into emulgel systems could be a promising approach for its solubilization and delivery. The aim of this work was to develop emulgel systems containing curcumin for the treatment of oral cancer. The emulgels containing curcumin were prepared with poloxamer 407, acrylic acid derivatives, oil phase (sesame oil or isopropyl myristate). The more stable system was evaluated for mechanical and rheological properties, as well as, the in vitro drug release profile, permeation and cytotoxic potential to oral mucosa models. The flow-throw system evidenced that the formulations could keep 5 min over porcine oral mucosa. Emulgel showed pseudoplastic behavior and a gelation temperature of 33 °C, which ensure their higher consistency. In addition, 70% of the incorporated curcumin was released within 24 h in an in vitro drug release study and could permeate porcine oral mucosa. Monolayers cultures and tissue-engineered models showed the selectivity of the drug and systems for tumor cells. The physicochemical properties, subsequent release and permeation of curcumin to selectivity kill cancer cells could be improved by the incorporation into emulgel systems.
