Abstract
Accurate land cover data was fundamental for formulating sound land planning and sustainable development strategies. This study focused on the Tibetan Plateau (TP), a globally sensitive ecological area, and developed a locally tailored annual 30 m resolution land cover dataset from 1990 to 2023 (TPLCD). Leveraging the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform for Landsat data processing, LandTrendr was employed to generate robust, high-precision training samples. Subsequently, random forest classification and spatiotemporal smoothing strategies were applied to precisely map the land cover dynamics of the TP. Rigorous validation through visual interpretation, authoritative third-party datasets (Geo-Wiki and GLCVSS), and thematic dataset cross-comparisons, revealed an overall accuracy of 84.8%, and a Kappa coefficient of 0.78, fully affirming the dataset's high reliability. This dataset provided invaluable empirical evidence for understanding the vulnerability and adaptability of the TP's ecosystem.

Abstract
The changes in landscape ecological risk (LER) of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (QTP) profoundly affect the ecological environment of China and the world. We measured the evolution of the LER level and its driving factors through the past 40 years using meteorological data, population density information, and land use data acquired through remote sensing monitoring techniques spanning the years 1980 to 2020. Several key findings were derived: (1) The overall LER of the QTP was at a medium level during 1980-2020, with a fluctuating but decreasing overall trend. (2) Between 1980 and 2020, the spatial distribution of LER in the QTP was high in the west and low in the east; the LER level of the six provinces (districts) showed an overall decrease. (3) During 2000-2020, the LER of the QTP was influenced by a complex mechanism of action. The interactions between different influencing factors were mainly non-linear reinforcement and two-factor reinforcement, and factor interaction significantly enhanced the effect on LER. The findings are of significance for the prevention, control, and management of LER in the QTP.

Spatial-temporal evolution of production-living-ecological space and layout optimization strategy in eco-sensitive areas: a case study of typical area on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, China. Abstract
To achieve sustainable development goals and to solve environmental problems, land resources in eco-sensitive areas should be used and optimized. Qinghai, which is an important eco-sensitive area in China, represents a typical ecological vulnerable region on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. Using land use/cover data for 2000, 2010 and 2020, this study applied a series of quantitative methods to analyze the spatial pattern and structure of the production-living-ecological space (PLES) in Qinghai. The results indicated that the spatial pattern of the PLES in Qinghai was stable over time, but the spatial distribution was very different. The structure of the PLES in Qinghai was stable, and the proportion of each space from high to low was ecological (81.01%), production (18.13%) and living (0.86%). We found that the proportion of ecological space in both the Qilian Mountains and the Three River Headwaters Region was lower than the rest of the study area, except for the Yellow River-Huangshui River Valley. Our study objectively and credibly presented the characteristics of the PLES in an important eco-sensitive area in China. This study further formulated targeted policy suggestions to provide a basis for regional sustainable development, ecological environment protection, and land and space optimization in Qinghai.

Abstract
A key biodiversity area (KBA) is one of the important emerging area-based conservation measures that is being implemented recently in China; however, the human pressure faced by a KBA is still unclear. This study analyzed the spatiotemporal variation of human pressure on KBAs from 1990 to 2017 and compared it with the human pressure on national natural reserves (NNRs) through a case study of the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau. In addition, changes in the trend of human pressure before and after 2010 were analyzed to examine the influence of conservation policies on human pressure. Results showed that human pressure on KBAs and NNRs gradually increased from 1990 to 2017. Furthermore, the growth rates and mean values of human pressure in KBAs were higher than those in NNRs. After the implementation of conservation policies in 2010, the growth rates of human pressure on both KBAs and NNRs have significantly slowed, and the areas with negative growth in both KBAs and NNRs have gradually expanded. In addition to providing an understanding of the changing spatiotemporal trends of human pressure on KBAs, this study can serve as a reference to formulate policies for the improvement of the effectiveness of conservation.
