Abstract
The intersection between Cu-catalyzed atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) and organometallic mediated radical polymerization (OMRP) has been recently shown to be a result of competition between the CuI and CuII complexes of polyamine ligands for the same organic free radical. The tetradentate ligands N,N'-bis-2'-pyridylmethyl-ethane-1,2-diamine (L1) and N,N'-dimethyl-N,N'-bis-2'-pyridylmethyl-ethane-1,2-diamine (L2) form stable Cu complexes which, depending on their oxidation state, can either liberate or complex organic radicals. Herein, we show that this process may be affected by subtle changes to the ligand system. Switching from a tertiary amine (L2) to a secondary amine (L1) retains ATRP and OMRP activity through a series of cyclic voltammetry measurements in the presence of the initiator bromoacetonitrile.

Abstract
In the past decade, the use of earth-abundant metals in homogeneous catalysis has flourished. In particular, metals such as cobalt and iron have been used extensively in reductive transformations including hydrogenation, hydroboration, and hydrosilylation. Manganese, on the other hand, has been considerably less explored in these reductive transformations. Here, we report a well-defined manganese complex, [Mn(iPrBDI)(OTf)2] (2a; BDI = bipyridinediimine), that is an active precatalyst in the hydroboration of a variety of electronically differentiated alkenes (>20 examples). The hydroboration is specifically selective for terminal alkenes and occurs with exclusive anti-Markovnikov selectivity. In contrast, when using the analogous cobalt complex [Co(iPrBDI)(OTf)2] (3a), internal alkenes are hydroborated efficiently, where a sequence of isomerization steps ultimately leads to their hydroboration. The contrasting terminal versus internal alkene selectivity for manganese and cobalt was investigated computationally and is further discussed in the herein-reported study.

Abstract
A series of heteroleptic metal(II) complexes of formulation [M(Tm)(diimine)](ClO4) (1-8), [Tm = hydrotris(methimazolyl)borate, diimine = 2,2'-bipyridyl or 1,10-phenanthroline and M = Mn(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) or Zn(II)] have been synthesized and characterized by spectroscopic methods. The geometric parameters of the complexes were determined using UV-Vis spectroscopy and DFT calculations. The analyses of HOMO and LUMO have been used to explain the charge transfer within the molecule. Antimicrobial activity of the synthesized heteroleptic complexes were evaluated against two Gram (-ve) (Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae) and two Gram (+ve) (Bacillus cereus and Staphylococcus aureus) bacterial, and three fungal (Candida albicans, Candida glabrata and Candida krusei) strains with respect to the standard drugs erythromycin and amphotericin-B. The copper(II) complex 6 showed better scavenging activity against DPPH when compared to other complexes. The cytotoxic activity of copper(II) complexes 5 and 6 against MCF-7 cell line was assessed by MTT assay, which showed exponential responses toward increasing concentration of complexes. In the molecular docking studies, the complexes showed π-π, σ-π, hydrogen bonding, van der Waals and electrostatic interactions with FGFR kinase receptor.

Abstract
The two novel manganese(II) complexes with 2-hydroxymethylpyridine (2-CH2OHpy) {[Mn2(μ-Cl)2(2-CH2OHpy)4]Cl2·2H2O (1)} and 2-hydroxyethylpyridine (2-(CH2)2OHpy) {[Mn(2-(CH2)2OHpy)2(NCS)2] (2)} were synthesized and characterized by means of X-ray diffraction, IR, EPR, HF EPR spectroscopy, magnetic and TG/DTG data. The complexes show catalase-like activity in neutral aqueous solution since they were able to disproportionate H2O2 to harmless H2O and O2. Both complexes act as true catalysts since they reverted to their original form after depleting all the H2O2, as suggested by the operando resonant inelastic X-ray spectroscopy (RIXS) measurements.

Crystallization induced emission is observed for bis-pyridyl-ethyl-di-imine and bis-pyridyl-butyl-di-imine. While in case of bis-pyridyl-di-imines, with no alkyl spacer, the quenching is observed in the solid state.
