Abstract
This study established an efficient separation of the highly hydrophobic analytes fenofibrate, orlistat, lumefantrine and a micelle marker using microemulsion electrokinetic capillary chromatography. A starting buffer with sodium dodecyl sulphate, heptane and butan-1-ol resulted in a partial separation of the analytes. Various experimental parameters were investigated, including voltage, sample loading time, buffer composition and temperature. An excellent separation was achieved, and compounds with hydrophobicity of up to a calculated log P of 10.2 (est. 12) could be clearly distinguished. Due to observed variabilities in retention time when changing the capillaries, it is advisable to calibrate with a standard mixture before each measurement series.

Abstract
In this study, 2-mercapto-3-phenyl-2,3-dihydro-1H-quinazolin-4-one (1), which exists as a thiol and thione tautomer, was treated with acetylacetone to give the target compound, namely, 1-methyl-5-phenyl-5H-pyrido[1,2-a]quinazoline-3,6-dione (2). The spectroscopic data, including UV/Vis, IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and mass data, of this compound were recorded. The molecular structures of the starting material (1) and the product (2) were optimized by using density functional theory (DFT) by employing the B3LYP exchange correlation with the 6-311G (d, p) and 6-31G++ (d, p) basis sets. The electronic spectra were determined based on time-dependent DFT calculations in three different solvents (i.e., chloroform, ethanol, and acetonitrile) starting from the same solvated run of the optimized geometry with the same two basis sets. The solvent effects were considered based on the polarizable continuum model (PCM), and the energetic behavior of the compounds and the total static dipole moment (μ) in different solvents were examined in the two basis sets; the results showed that the total energy of the compounds decreased upon increasing the polarity of the solvent. Time-dependent DFT calculations were performed to analyze the electronic transitions for various excited states that reproduced the experimental band observed in the UV/Vis spectrum. A study on the electronic properties, such as the HOMO and LUMO energies, was performed by the time-independent DFT approach. Using the gauge-independent atomic orbital method (GIAO), the 1H NMR chemical shifts were calculated and correlated with the experimental ones. The computed results showed that the introduction of different dielectric media had a slight effect on the stability and reactivity of the title compound as well as on the Milliken atomic charges and the molecular geometry. Besides, the molecular electrostatic potential of target product 2 was evaluated in different solvents.

Abstract
This work presents the characterization of 4-ethyl-5-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-2H-1,2,4-triazole-3(4H)-thione (III) by quantum chemical calculations and spectral techniques. The molecular geometry, vibrational frequencies and gauge including atomic orbital (GIAO) (1)H and (13)C NMR chemical shift values of III in the ground state have been calculated using the density functional method (B3LYP) with the 6-31G(d) basis set. The calculated results show that the optimized geometry can well reproduce the crystal structure, and the theoretical vibrational frequencies and chemical shift values show good agreement with experimental values. To determine conformational flexibility, the molecular energy profile of the title compound was obtained by DFT calculations with respect to the selected torsion angle, which was varied from -180° to +180° in steps of 10°. The energetic behavior of III in solvent media was examined using the B3LYP method with the 6-31G(d) basis set by applying the Onsager and the polarizable continuum model (PCM). The predicted nonlinear optical properties of III are greater than ones of urea. In addition, DFT calculations of molecular electrostatic potentials and frontier molecular orbitals of III were carried out at the B3LYP/6-31G(d) level of theory. The title compound was screened for antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant activities.

Abstract
The triazole compound 1-(3-Methyl-3-mesityl)-cyclobutyl-2-(5-pyridin-4-yl-2H-[1,2,4]triazol-3-ylsulfanyl)-ethanone, (C23H26N4OS), was characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction technique, IR NMR spectroscopy and quantum chemical computational methods as both experimental and theoretically. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/c with Z=4. The molecular geometry was also optimized using density functional theory (DFT/B3LYP) method with the 6-311G(d,p) basis set in ground state and compared with the experimental data. The computed vibrational frequencies are used to determine the types of molecular motions associated with each of the experimental bands observed. The results of the calculations were applied to simulate spectra of the title compound, which show excellent agreement with observed spectra. Data of the title compound display significant structure correlation and provide the basis for future design of efficient materials having the derivatives of 1,2,4-triazole. From the optimized geometry of the molecule, vibrational frequencies, gauge-independent atomic orbital (GIAO) 1H and 13C NMR chemical shift values, molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) distribution, non-linear optical properties and frontier molecular orbitals (FMOs) of the title compound were performed at B3LYP/6-311G(d,p). On the basis of theoretical vibrational analyses, the thermodynamic properties (standard heat capacities, standard entropies, and standard enthalpy changes) of the title compound at different temperatures have been calculated, revealing the correlations between Cp,m0, Sm0, ΔHm0 and temperatures. The predicted non-linear optical properties of the title compound are much greater than those of urea. Abstract
Quantum chemical calculations of the structure, molecular electrostatic potential and thermodynamic functions have been performed using the density functional (DFT/B3LYP) method with the 6-311++G(d,p) basis set for the title compound 1-[N-(2-pyridyl)aminomethylidene}-2(1H)-Naphtalenone. The energetic behavior of the title compound in solvent media has been examined by applying the Onsager and the polarizable continuum model. To investigate second order nonlinear optical properties of the title compound, the electric dipole μ, the polarizability α and the first hyperpolarizability β were computed using the density functional B3LYP and CAM-B3LYP methods with the 6-311++G(d,p) basis set. According to our calculations, the title compound exhibits nonzero β value revealing second order NLO behavior. The changes of thermodynamic properties for the formation of the title compound with the temperature ranging from 200 K to 500 K have been obtained using the statistical thermodynamic method. The relationship between formation enthalpy and entropy changes has been investigated with the entropy–enthalpy compensation. Besides, natural bond orbital and frontier molecular orbital analysis of the title compound were investigated by theoretical calculations.

Abstract
The optimized molecular geometry, vibrational frequencies, and gauge including atomic orbital (GIAO) (1)H and (13)C NMR shift values of 5-(4-bromophenylamino)-2-methylsulfanylmethyl-2H-1,2,3-triazol-4-carboxylic acid ethyl ester have been calculated by using Hartree-Fock (HF) and density functional method (DFT/B3LYP) with 6-31G(d), 6-31G(d,p) and LANL2DZ basis sets. The optimized molecular geometric parameters were presented and compared with the data obtained from X-ray diffraction. In order to fit the calculated harmonic wavenumbers to the experimentally observed ones, scaled quantum mechanics force field (SQM FF) methodology was proceeded. Correlation factors between the experimental and calculated (1)H chemical shift values of the title compound in vacuum and in CHCl(3) solution by using the conductor-like screening continuum solvation model (COSMO) were reported. The calculated results showed that the optimized geometry well reproduces the crystal structure. The theoretical vibrational frequencies and chemical shifts are in very good agreement with the experimental data. In solvent media the energetic behavior of the title compound was also examined by using the B3LYP method with the 6-31G(d) basis set, applying the COSMO model. The obtained results indicated that the total energy of the title compound decreases with increasing polarity of the solvent. Furthermore, molecular electrostatic potential (MEP), natural bond orbital (NBO) and frontier molecular orbitals (FMOs) of the title compound were performed by the B3LYP/LANL2DZ method, and also thermodynamic parameters for the title compound were calculated at all the HF and B3LYP levels.
