Abstract
Health literacy and mental health are among the most important issues in the modern health and era of public health. This study aimed to investigate the association between health literacy and mental health status. This was a national cross-sectional study that was conducted in Iran. A sample of literate individuals aged 18-65 was entered into the study using multistage sampling. The data were collected by the Health Literacy Instrument for Adults (HELIA) and the 12-item General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12). Logistic regression and path analysis were used for data analysis. A total of 20,571 individuals completed the questionnaires. The mean(± SD) age of participants was 34.9(± 11.8) years old, 51% were female, and 38.1% had higher education. The mean(± SD) health literacy score was 68.3(± 15.2), and 29.8% of the respondents reported some mental health problems. Logistic regression analysis showed that limited health literacy was associated with poor mental health status (OR 2.560, 95% CI 2.396-2.735, P = 0.001). The path analysis showed that an increase in health literacy could reduce psychological and social dysfunction (the effect of health literacy on reducing psychological distress is more profound). It is recommended to carry out interventions that strengthen adult's cognitive and communication skills to improve their ability to access and use health information to make healthy choices.

Abstract
Background The prevalence of mental health issues has been gradually increasing among college students in recent years. Improvements in mental health can be achieved through changes in daily behavior and the use of psychological counseling. This study aims to investigate the relationship between health-promoting behaviors and negative emotions among college freshmen as they enter the university. It also examines the impact of various sub-dimensions of health-promoting behaviors and other factors on the negative emotions (stress, anxiety, and depression) experienced by college freshmen. Methods Using the Negative Emotion and Health-Promoting Behavior scales, a 7-month longitudinal study was conducted on 4,252 college freshmen, with collection of data at two time points (T1: November 12, 2021; T2: June 17, 2022). Out of this longitudinal study, 3,632 valid samples were obtained. This research aimed to explore the association and impact between negative emotions and the level of health-promoting behaviors among college students during their time at the university. Results ① There were significant differences in the levels of health-promoting behaviors and negative emotions over the course of 7 months (P < 0.05). Health-promoting behaviors were found to have a significant negative correlation with negative emotions (P < 0.05). ② Negative emotions at T1 significantly negatively predicted health-promoting behaviors at T2 (β = -0.11, P < 0.01), while health-promoting behaviors at T1 significantly negatively predicted negative emotions at T2 (β = -0.12, P < 0.001). ③ Stress management (β = -0.104, P < 0.05; β = -0.087, P < 0.05), self-actualization (β = -0.282, P < 0.01; β = -0.260, P < 0.05), health responsibility (β = -0.057, P < 0.05; β = -0.088, P < 0.05), and interpersonal relations (β = 0.068, P < 0.01; β = 0.138, P < 0.05) were important components in improving stress and anxiety. Self-actualization (β = -0.437, P < 0.001), exercise (β = 0.048, P < 0.001), nutrition (β = 0.044, P < 0.001), and interpersonal relations (β = 0.065, P < 0.001) were important components in improving depression. ④ Gender, place of household registration, and whether the individual is the only child were significant factors affecting negative emotions in college freshmen. Conclusion The level of health-promoting behaviors is an important indicator for assessing the negative emotional states of college freshmen. Enhancing health-promoting behaviors across various dimensions can help alleviate different types of negative emotions. Gender, place of household registration, and being the only child are significant factors that influence negative emotions.

Abstract
Objective To explore the relationship between stress events and stress symptoms and their gender and academic year characteristics in Chinese secondary school students. Methods 4,995 secondary school students were investigated by the Adolescent Self-rating Life Events Checklist (ASLEC) and the Calgary Symptoms of Stress Inventory (C-SOSI). Results First, there were significant differences in all dimensions and total scores of stress events and stress symptoms between boys and girls in secondary school and between junior high school students and senior high school students. Second, the dimensions and total scores of stress events in secondary school students are positively correlated with the dimensions and total scores of stress symptoms. Third, the influence of punishment on the stress symptoms of secondary school boys is the most obvious, and the influence of punishment, adaption, relationship stress, and learning stress on the stress symptoms of secondary school girls is the most obvious. The influence of punishment on the stress symptoms of junior high school students is the most obvious, and the influence of punishment and relationship on the stress symptoms of senior high school students is the most obvious. Conclusion Stress events and stress symptoms of Chinese secondary school students have significant differences in gender and academic year. The same stress event has different influence mechanisms on the stress symptoms of Chinese secondary school students of different genders and different academic years.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Guided by the ecosystem theory model framework, we aimed to explore the influence of three ecological dimensions (social, family and psychological factors) on suicidal intention in people with severe mental illness (SMI). We hypothesized that three factors influence suicidal intention, and that psychological factors may play a mediating role in the influence of social and family factors on suicidal intention. METHODS We collected 994 patients with SMI aged 18 and above from May 2021 to March 2022 in the Fourth Hospital of Fuzhou City. We used logistic regression to analyse the association between social, family, psychological factors and suicidal intention. Furthermore, we explored the mediating effects among the influencing factors. RESULTS Younger male patients with schizophrenia were more likely to have suicidal intention due to psychosocial family factors (p < .05). Social factors (poor interpersonal relations, social retreat, social activities outside the home), family factors (parental functions, activities within the family, family functions), psychological factors (anxiety, depression, interest in the outside world, overt aggression, lack of accountability and planning) were all independent risk factors for suicidal intention in patients. Mediation analysis showed anxiety and depression mediated the role of social and family factors on suicidal intention (p < .05). CONCLUSION Social, family and psychological factors were important risk factors for suicidal intention, with anxiety and depression being partial mediators for suicidal intention. Therefore, interventions that enhance family and social functioning and reduce anxiety and depression may be effective in reducing suicidal intention in SMI.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Depression in middle-aged and elderly individuals is multifaceted and heterogeneous, linked to biological age (BA) based on aging-related biomarkers. However, due to confounding with chronological age and the absence of subgroup analysis and causal reasoning, the association between BA and depressive symptoms (DS) might be unstable and requires further investigation. METHODS We utilized data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (N = 9478) to perform association analysis, causal inference, and subgroup analysis. BA acceleration (BAA) was derived using machine learning and adjusted for chronological age. A generalized linear mixed-effects model (GLMM) tree algorithm was employed to identify subgroups. The causal reasoning frame included propensity score matching and fast large-scale almost matching exactly. RESULTS In the longitudinal analysis, BAA exhibited a consistent and significant positive association with DS, even after controlling for demographic characteristics, lifestyle factors, health status, and physical functions. This association remained unchanged within the causal framework. GLMM tree analysis identified three partitioning variables (sex, satisfaction, and BMI) and five subgroups. Further subgroup analysis revealed that BAA exerted the strongest effect on DS among women with less satisfying lives. LIMITATIONS Depressive symptoms were evaluated through scale measurements rather than clinical diagnosis. The sample was derived from the general population, not the clinically depressed population. CONCLUSIONS This study provided the first longitudinal evidence that biological age acceleration increases depressive symptoms under causal reasoning and subgroup analysis, particularly among less satisfied women. And the association between BAA and DS was independent of known risk factors.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Assessment of vaccine literacy is essential for understanding people's ability to access various vaccine information to meet health demands. Few studies have examined the role of vaccine literacy in vaccine hesitancy, which is a psychological state. This study aimed to validate the applicability of the HLVa-IT (Vaccine Health Literacy of Adults in Italian) scale in Chinese settings and to explore the association between vaccine literacy and vaccine hesitancy. METHODS From May to June 2022, we conducted an online cross-sectional survey in mainland China. Potential factor domains were obtained by the exploratory factor analysis. Cronbach's alpha coefficient, composite reliability values, and square root values of average variances extracted were calculated to determine the internal consistency and discriminant validity. The association between vaccine literacy, vaccine acceptance, with vaccine hesitancy was assessed using logistic regression analysis. RESULTS Totally, 12,586 participants completed the survey. Two potential dimensions, the functional and the interactive/critical, were identified. Cronbach's alpha coefficient and composite reliability values were >0.90. The square root values of average variances extracted exceeded the related correlations. The functional dimension (adjusted odds ratio (aOR): 0579; 95 % Confidence Interval (CI); 0.529, 0.635), interactive (aOR: 0.654; 95%CI: 0.531, 0.806)/critical (aOR: 0.709; 95%CI: 0.575, 0.873) dimension were significantly and negatively associated with vaccine hesitancy. Similar results were also found in different vaccines acceptance subgroups. LIMITATIONS This report is limited by the convenience sampling method. CONCLUSIONS The modified HLVa-IT is suitable for use in Chinese settings. Vaccine literacy was negatively associated with vaccine hesitancy.
