Abstract
A facile, green, selective and practical method for the catalytic N-alkylation of amines using molecular hydrogen as the reductant was developed. This procedure involves a lipase-mediated one-pot chemoenzymatic cascade wherein an amine undergoes a reductive amination with an aldehyde generated in situ. The imine formed thereby is reduced to give the corresponding amine. This process represents a convenient, environmentally benign and scalable one-pot process for the synthesis of N-alkyl amines. We report for the first time chemoenzymatic reductive alkylation in aqueous micellar media with an E-factor of 0.68.

Abstract
A Brönsted acidic ionic solid pyridinium-functionalized organosilica network (PMO-Py-IL) was demonstrated to efficiently catalyse one-pot Biginelli condensation reaction. The green synthesis of 3,4-dihydro-2(H)-pyrimidinones (DHPMs) with high yield was carried out via one-pot three component condensation of β- dicarbonyls, aldehydes, and urea in the presence of a catalytic amount of PMO-Py-IL nanomaterial as an efficient nanocatalyst under solvent free conditions. Furthermore, the catalyst showed outstanding stability and could be easily separated and reused for at least ten reaction runs without significant loss of activity and product selectivity. The green protocol features simple set-up, cost-effectiveness, easy work-up, eco-friendly and mild reaction conditions.

Abstract
Novel one-pot multicomponent synthesis of 2-pyrimidinamine derivatives can be achieved via green chemistry, using Cu(II)-tyrosinase enzyme (Cu-Tyr) as a catalyst. This method offers mild reaction conditions and a high yield of derivatives. We synthesised several compounds in this manner and evaluated their larvicidal, and antifeedant activities. Out of the synthesised derivatives, compound 3, with a median lethal dose (LD50) of 21.43 µg/mL, was highly active against Culex quinquefasciatus, compared to compounds 1a-m and 2, and the control, hydantocidin. Compounds 1j, 1d, and 1e were low active against C. quinquefasciatus with LD50 values of 78.46, 78.59, and 79.54 µg/mL, respectively. In antifeedant screening, compounds 1j, 1l, and 2 generated 100% mortality within 24 h against Oreochromis mossambicus at 100 µg/mL, where toxicity was determined as the ratio of the number of dead and live fingerlings (%) at 24 h. In contrast, compounds 1a-f, 1i, 1m, and 3 were less toxic to O. mossambicus as compared to the control, dibromoisophakellin. Therefore, compound 3 had high larvicidal activity against C. quinquefasciatus and was less toxic to non-target aquatic species. Molecular docking studies also supported the finding that compound 3 was an effective larvicide with more inhibition ability than the control hydantocidin (-9.6 vs. -6.1 kcal/mol).

Abstract
The potential of biocatalysis becomes increasingly recognized as an efficient and green tool for modern organic synthesis. Biocatalytic promiscuity, a new frontier extended the use of enzymes in organic synthesis, has attracted much attention and expanded rapidly in the past decade. It focuses on the enzyme catalytic activities with unnatural substrates and alternative chemical transformations. Exploiting enzyme catalytic unconventional reactions might lead to improvements in existing catalysts and provide novel synthesis pathways that are currently not available. Among these enzymes, hydrolase (such as lipase, protease, acylase) undoubtedly has received special attention since they display remarkable activities for some unexpected reactions such as aldol reaction and other novel carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bond-forming reactions. This chapter introduces the recent progress in hydrolase catalytic unconventional reactions and application in organic synthesis. Some important examples of hydrolase catalytic unconventional reactions in addition reactions are reviewed, highlighting the catalytic promiscuity of hydrolases focuses on aldol reaction, Michael addition, and multicomponent reactions.

Abstract
Enzymes, which provide more efficient and eco-friendly strategies for various functional molecules' construction than traditional chemo-catalysts, were utilized for the synthesis of 4H-pyrimido[2,1-b] benzothiazole derivatives. Reported herein is a trypsin-catalysed three- component Biginelli reaction of aldehyde, β-ketoester and 2-amino benzothiazole in one pot, affording a streamlined pathway to diverse ring-fused pyrimidines. In addition to using commercially available aromatic aldehydes as substrates, acetaldehyde, the chemical liquid with rather low boiling point and difficult to handle above room temperature, is utilized to further extend the range of substrates. It was verified that most of the tested substrates exhibited satisfactory reactivity. In addition, several substrates indicated AIE (Aggregation-Induced Emission) property and have been investigated as potential biomarkers.

Abstract
Enzyme catalysis is a very active research area in organic chemistry, because biocatalysts are compatible with and can be adjusted to many reaction conditions, as well as substrates. Their integration in multicomponent reactions (MCRs) allows for simple protocols to be implemented in the diversity-oriented synthesis of complex molecules in chemo-, regio-, stereoselective or even specific modes without the need for the protection/deprotection of functional groups. The application of bio-catalysis in MCRs is therefore a welcome and logical development and is emerging as a unique tool in drug development and discovery, as well as in combinatorial chemistry and related areas of research.

Abstract
A novel strategy combining visible-light and enzyme catalysis in one pot for the synthesis of 4H-pyrimido[2,1-b] benzothiazole derivatives from alcohols is described for the first time. Fourteen 4H-pyrimido[2,1-b] benzothiazole derivatives were prepared with yields of up to 98% under mild reaction conditions by a simple operation. The photoorgano catalyst rose Bengal (rB) was employed to oxyfunctionalise alcohols to aldehydes. Compared with aldehydes, alcohols with more stable properties and lower cost, thus we used photocatalysis to oxidize alcohols into aldehydes. Next, the enzyme was used to further catalyze the reaction of Biginelli to produce the target product of 4H-pyrimidine [2,1-b] benzothiazole. Experimental results show that this method provides a more efficient and eco-friendly strategy for the synthesis of 4H-pyrimido[2,1-b] benzothiazole derivatives.

Abstract
A one-pot efficient biocatalytic strategy for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2-(1H)-ones was developed in a circulating microwave reactor selecting α-chymotrypsin as the promiscuous biocatalyst. In the circulating reaction system, the combination of microwave heating and external cooling could avoid the denaturation and inactivation of enzyme, and greatly improved the radiation power of microwave, thus improving the specific effects of microwave. During the reaction process, the microwave radiation power was automatically adjusted by adjusting the speed of the reaction mixture circulation. When the microwave power was maintained at 110 W, the best results could be obtained with the highest yield of 96% at 55 °C in 50 min, and the reaction had a wide range of substrates. But no obvious product was detected in a tank microwave reactor at 55 °C for 100 min, under this condition, the microwave power was maintained at about 3 W. As a contrast, the reaction only obtained 63% yield in 55 °C oil bath for 96 h.

Abstract
Enzymes have emerged in recent decades as ideal catalysts for synthetic transformations under mild reaction conditions. Their capacity to accelerate a myriad of biotransformations with high levels of selectivity and broad substrate specificity including excellent atom economy has led to a current full recognition. The six classes of enzymes (oxidoreductases, transferases, hydrolases, lyases, isomerases and ligases) possess outstanding abilities to perform specific modifications in target molecules. Nevertheless, in the last fifteen years, novel examples have appeared related to nonconventional processes catalyzed by various classes of biocatalysts. Amongst these, hydrolases have received special attention since they display remarkable activities in initially unexpected reactions such as carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bond-formation reactions, oxidative processes and novel hydrolytic transformations. In this review, the main findings in this area will be disclosed, highlighting the catalytic properties of hydrolases not only to catalyze single processes but also multicomponent and tandem nonconventional reactions.

Abstract
In the present study, a tin complex immobilized on silica gel as a novel, green, highly efficient and heterogeneous reusable catalyst was synthesized by grafting 2-amino benzamide onto the silica gel surface as a result of the reaction between isatoic anhydride and 3-aminopropyl-functionalized silica gel, followed by complexing with tin chloride. The resulting organic-inorganic hybrid material was evaluated in the one-pot three-component synthesis of spiro[indoline-pyrazolo[4',3':5,6]pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine]trione derivatives in water via the condensation reaction of isatins, barbituric acids, and 1H-pyrazol-5-amines. All the reactions were completed in short reaction times and all the products were obtained in high to excellent yields with high purity. In addition, the synthesized novel catalyst could be separated from the reaction mixture by simple filtration and can be reused up to seven runs without significant loss in activity.

Abstract
We report here an efficient and green method for Biginelli condensation reaction of aldehydes, β-ketoesters and urea or thiourea catalyzed by Brønsted acidic ionic liquid [Btto][p-TSA] under solvent-free conditions. Compared to the classical Biginelli reaction conditions, the present method has the advantages of giving good yields, short reaction times, near room temperature conditions and the avoidance of the use of organic solvents and metal catalyst.

Abstract
Abstract
Enzyme promiscuity can be classified into substrate promiscuity, condition promiscuity and catalytic promiscuity. Enzyme promiscuity results in far larger ranges of organic compounds which can be obtained by biocatalysis. While early examples mostly involved use of lipases, more recent literature shows that catalytic promiscuity occurs more widely and many other classes of enzymes can be used to obtain diverse kinds of molecules. This is of immense relevance in the context of white biotechnology as enzyme catalysed reactions use greener conditions.
