Abstract
Interface engineering is an important strategy to improve the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) performance of metal-based electrocatalysts. However, how to develop efficient and abundant interface is still a challenge. Herein, the three-dimensional mesoporous metal oxide-supported Pd-based catalyst was prepared and its ORR activity was further improved through the interfacial modification with microporous covalent organic polymer. Due to the meso/microporous structure and optimized organic-inorganic interface, the as-obtained catalyst could provide abundant active sites and suitable electronic structure, which makes it as a superior catalyst toward alkaline ORR. The surface modified Pd catalyst shows an improved half-wave potential (E1/2) from 0.84 V to 0.86 V and an improved limiting current density (JL) from 5.8 mA cm-2 to 6.0 mA cm-2. Moreover, the developed catalyst has excellent methanol tolerance and stability during the long-time cycling. When it was used as cathodic electrocatalyst in zinc-air battery, a peak power density of 106 mW cm-2 could be achieved and the battery maintains excellent stability during cycling tests over 45 h, which is better than the benchmarked commercial Pt/C catalyst. This study provides an efficient interface engineering strategy for constructing active and stable electrocatalysts, which may be useful in ORR and other energy-related conversions.

Abstract
Under the background of green chemistry, the synthesis of N-heterocycles using efficient, stable and long-life catalysts has still faced great challenges. Herein, we used biomass resource chitosan to fabricate a nanoporous chitosan carbon microsphere (CCM), and successfully designed a stable and efficient Pd nano-catalyst (CCM/Pd). Various physicochemical characterizations provided convincible evidences that the palladium nanoparticles (NPs) were tightly and evenly dispersed on the CCM with a mean diameter of 2.28 nm based on the nanoporous structure and abundant functional N/O groups in CCM. Importantly, the graphitized constructure, the formed defects and larger surface area in CCM were able to promote the immobilization of Pd NPs and the electron transfer between Pd and CCM, thereby significantly improving the catalytic activity. The CCM/Pd catalyst was applied for hydrogenation of quinoline compounds, which showed excellent catalytic activity and durability, as well as good substrate applicability. The application of renewable biomass-based catalysts contributes to the progression of a green/sustainable society.

Abstract
A new covalent organic framework loaded-molybdate (COFMo) nanomaterial was prepared simply by solvothermal procedure and characterized by electron microscopy and molecular spectral techniques. The COFMo had a strong resonance Rayleigh scattering (RRS) signal at 465 nm and a fluorescence peak at 345 nm. When the PO43- was added in the system, it reacted with the molybdate, which loaded on the surface of COF particles, to form stable phosphomolybdic acid occurring RRS/fluorescence-energy transfer, the RRS and fluorescence signals were decreased. The decreased RRS/fluorescence intensities were linear to the PO43- concentration in the range of 0.053-3.2 nmol/L and 0.10-3.2 nmol/L, with a detection limit of 0.050 nmol/L and 0.090 nmol/L respectively. Accordingly, a new and facile RRS/fluorescence dimode method for detection of trace PO43- was established, only one fluorometer was used.

Abstract
A covalent organic framework named N-COF was successfully constructed by the aldehyde-amine condensation reaction between 2,4,6-tris (4-formyl phenoxy)-1,3,5-triazine and 1,3-bis(4-aminophenyl) urea for the first time. The prepared N-COF exhibited good stability and high affinity to organochlorine pesticides (OCPs). Thus, the N-COF was served as solid phase microextraction fiber coating for extraction of six OCPs from vegetables and fruits including romaine lettuce, cabbage, Chinese cabbage, apple, pear and peach, followed by quantitation with gas chromatography-electron capture detector (GC-ECD). Under the optimal conditions, good linearities for the OCPs existed in the ranges from 0.1 to 1.0 ng g-1 to 100.0 ng g-1 for the samples. The low limits of detection for analytes were obtained in the range of 0.03-0.3 ng g-1. The present work can offer new alternative for sensitive analysis of trace level of OCPs in vegetables and fruits.

Abstract
A novel magnetic covalent organic framework was synthesized via one step coating approach with solvothermal reaction employing 2,4,6-tris(4-aminophen-yl)-1,3,5-triazine and 2,4,6-triformylphloroglucinol as two building blocks by covalent bonding. The prepared magnetic covalent organic frameworks were properly characterized by different techniques and employed as adsorbent of magnetic solid phase extraction. An analytical method was developed for simultaneous determination of five fungicides in two Chinese herbal medicine samples via magnetic solid phase extraction coupled to UHPLC-MS/MS analysis. Under optimized magnetic solid phase extraction conditions, the method exhibited satisfactory recoveries (74.0-109.6%) with the relative standard deviations of 0.4-4.6%, low limits of detection (0.003-0.015 μg kg-1 ), and good linearity (R2 > 0.9960). Compared with the traditional extraction method, the proposed method required a lower amount of adsorbent (3 mg) and extraction time (5 min). The adsorbent also had favourable reusability (not less than 8 times). Therefore, the magnetic covalent organic frameworks could be a promising adsorbent for the extraction and quantitation of pesticide residues in Chinese herbal medicines. Abstract
There is no doubt that the wide application of COFs depends on the diversity and complexity of their structure and composition, as well as the feasibility and convenience of use. Herein, large area defect-free continuous functional material layers have been fabricated by compounding sub-stoichiometric tetratopic-tritopic covalent organic frameworks (TT-COFs) on graphene oxide (GO) via simply hot pressing. The one-step synthesis of TT-COFs with built-in formyl groups endowed the robust material layers with extraordinary host-guest interactions, so they can specifically reject cations dyes according to adsorption effect, molecular sieving and Donnan effect. Owing to the through-plane molecular transfer channels, large amounts of water molecules can pass through the internal channel rapidly. As a result, high rejection of 99.5% and large flux of 309.99 L·m-2·h-1·bar-1 for dye molecules have been realized. This simple and effective method provided more extensive practicality and greater convenience in recycling and reuse, and demonstrated the utility and high efficiency of TT-COFs with built-in formyl groups as an advanced material platform for dyes removal.

Abstract
In this study, chitosan (CS) film containing covalent organic frameworks (COFs) immobilized silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were developed for food packaging with improved antibacterial activities and film properties. COFs-AgNPs were fabricated via in-situ synthesis of immobilizing AgNPs on COFs. Transmission electron microscope, Zeta potential, X-ray diffraction, element mapping and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy confirmed the successful fabrication of COFs-AgNPs, and COFs-AgNPs showed superior antibacterial activity against S. aureus and E. coli. Furthermore, the as-prepared COFs-AgNPs composite was further used to fabricate CS composite films (CS/COFs-AgNPs) by a solution casting method. The findings showed that the tensile strength of the nanocomposite films enhanced dramatically with the increase of the COFs-AgNPs content, while the UV-visible light barrier property, water swelling and solubility properties, and water vapor permeability (WVP) decreased significantly. Not only that, the CS/COFs-AgNPs nanocomposite films also showed outstanding antibacterial activity and effectively prolonged the storage time of white crucian carp (Carassius auratus). As a result, CS/COFs-AgNPs nanocomposite films show great potential in active food packaging.

Abstract
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are an emergent group of crystalline porous materials that have gained incredible interest in recent years. With foreseeable controllable functionalities and structural configurations, the constructions and catalytic properties of these organic polymeric materials can be controlled to fabricate targeted materials. The specified monomer linkers and pre-designed architecture of COFs facilitate the post-synthetic modifications for introducing novel functions and useful properties. By virtue of inherent porosity, robust framework, well-ordered geometry, functionality, higher stability, and amenability to functionalization, COFs and COFs-based composites are regarded as prospective nanomaterials for environmental clean-up and remediation. This report spotlights the state-of-the-art advances and progress in COFs-based materials to efficiently mitigate pharmaceutical-based environmental pollutants from aqueous solutions. Synthesis approaches, structure, functionalization, and sustainability aspects of COFs are discussed. Moreover, the adsorptive and photocatalytic potential of COFs and their derived nanocomposites for removal and degradation of pharmaceuticals are thoroughly vetted. In addition to deciphering adsorption mechanism/isotherms, the stability, regeneratability and reproducibility are also delineated. Lastly, the outcomes are summed up, and new directions are proposed to widen the promise of COF-based smart materials in diverse fields.

Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution from Water Splitting Using Core-Shell Structured Cu/ZnS/COF Composites. NANOMATERIALS 2021; 11:nano11123380. Abstract
Hydrogen is considered to be a very efficient and clean fuel since it is a renewable and non-polluting gas with a high energy density; thus, it has drawn much attention as an alternative fuel, in order to alleviate the issue of global warming caused by the excess use of fossil fuels. In this work, a novel Cu/ZnS/COF composite photocatalyst with a core–shell structure was synthesized for photocatalytic hydrogen production via water splitting. The Cu/ZnS/COF microspheres formed by Cu/ZnS crystal aggregation were covered by a microporous thin-film COF with a porous network structure, where COF was also modified by the dual-effective redox sites of C=O and N=N. The photocatalytic hydrogen production results showed that the hydrogen production rate reached 278.4 µmol g−1 h−1, which may be attributed to its special structure, which has a large number of active sites, a more negative conduction band than the reduction of H+ to H2, and the ability to inhibit the recombination of electron–hole pairs. Finally, a possible mechanism was proposed to effectively explain the improved photocatalytic performance of the photocatalytic system. The present work provides a new concept, in order to construct a highly efficient hydrogen production catalyst and broaden the applications of ZnS-based materials.

Abstract
Due to the good electrical, optical, magnetic, catalytic properties, transition metal nanoparticles (TMNPs) have been becoming more and more interesting in the fileds of environment, material, biomedicine, catalysis, and so on. Here, tannic acid (TA) is used as a green and efficient stabilizer to fabricate all kinds of TMNPs including AuNPs, AgNPs, CuNPs and PdNPs. These TMNPs possess small sizes ranging from 1 nm to 6 nm, which is conducive to several catalytic reactions in aqueous solution, such as 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) reduction, CuAAC reactions and Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reactions. AuNPs and PdNPs are found to have distinctly higher catalytic activities than AgNPs and CuNPs in the 4-NP reduction process. Especially, PdNPs show the highest catalytic activities with TOF up to 7200 h-1 in the 4-NP reduction. Furthermore, PdNPs also exhibit satisfying catalytic performance in the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling process, and CuNPs are catalytically active in the copper-catalyzed azide alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) reactions. The applicability and generality of PdNPs and CuNPs are respectively confirmed via the reaction between different substrates in the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reactions and the CuAAC reactions. This work present a simple, fast, green and efficient strategy to synthesize TMNPs for multiple catalysis.
