Abstract
Dressing with the function of anti-wound infection and promoting skin repair plays an important role in medicine, beauty industry, etc. In terms of anti-wound infection, traditional dressings, such as gauze, have problems such as excessive bleeding in the process of contact or removal, and slow wound healing due to poor biological compatibility. The development of new functional and biocompatible dressings has essential application value in biomedical fields. In this study, a new type of dressing based on polypeptide functional sponge patch was constructed. The porous sponge patch is made of antimicrobial peptide and medical agarose through gel and freeze-drying technology. In vitro antibacterial experiments and small animal skin wound infection model experiments show that the porous sponge has excellent antibacterial and anti-skin infection activities, as well as the function of promoting wound healing.

Abstract
For decades, crude oil spills and oil wastewater have become the most problematic environmental pollution and damage to public health. Therefore, it is considerable to develop superhydrophobic polymer foam for separating oil from water with high selectivity and sorption capacity. Here, a new type of environmentally friendly pure polypropylene (PP) foam with superhydrophobicity is first time proposed with a particular coexistence of microspheres and microporous structure fabricated via an advanced solvent-evaporation method. The PP foam exhibits exceptional superhydrophobic with a water contact angle of 151° and the maximum saturated adsorption capacity of 26 g/g. After more than 15 h of cyclic continuous oil-water pumping experiment, it still maintains a high oil absorption efficiency of 98%, providing the basis for practical commercial applications. More importantly, the variation of hydrophobic properties is described by Flory-Huggins polymer solution theory and Huggins interaction parameters, and the optimal solution ratio range is predicted which providing a relevant theoretical basis for actual industrial production. Abstract
Compositing is an interesting strategy that has always been employed to introduce or enhance desired functionalities in material systems. In this paper, sponges containing polypropylene, lignin, and octavinyl-polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (OV-POSS) were successfully prepared via an easy and elegant strategy called thermally induced phase separation (TIPS). To fully explore the behaviour of different components of prepared sponges, properties were characterized by a thermogravimetric analyser (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Fourier transform infrared measurement (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Furthermore, wettability properties toward an organic liquid and oil were investigated. The FTIR analysis confirmed the chemical modification of the components. TGA and DSC measurements revealed thermal stability was much better with an increase in OV-POSS content. OV-POSS modified sponges exhibited ultra-hydrophobicity and high oleophilicity with water contact angles of more than 125°. The SEM revealed that POSS molecules acted as a support for reduced surface roughness. Moreover, OV-POSS-based blend sponges showed higher sorption capacities compared with other blend sponges without OV-POSS. The new blend sponges demonstrated a potential for use as sorbent engineering materials in water remediation.

Abstract
Removing contaminants from wastewater is critical towards resolving global water pollution problems. However, the variety of oily contaminants composition, and the unsatisfactory performance and efficiency of current separation systems are still big challenges, thus developing efficient and scalable oil-water separation (OWS) methods is needed. Here, the performance of a novel pilot-scale oil-water separator skimmer (OWSS) prototype is fully investigated using an upflow fixed bed column system packed with polypropylene (PP) fibrous sorbent materials for dual continuous OWS and in situ oils/organic solvents recovery. The mechanism of oil sorption by the PP fibrous sorbents, as well as capillary and vacuum assisted oil flow within the inter-fiber voids is fully explored. A series of pilot-scale column experiments were performed with different bed heights (7.5-30 cm) and using different types of oil/solvent in order to determine their influence on the oil flux, OWS efficiency and recovered organic solvent purity. The OWSS provided excellent and stable performance. A trade-off relationship between oil flux and OWS efficiency can be obtained: The maximum flux was attained at the lowest sorbent bed height (7.5 cm), while the maximum OWS efficiency (>99%) was achieved at the highest sorbent bed height (30 cm). The materials' morphology and wettability were examined showing outstanding stability and recyclability, which demonstrates their efficient integration into the overall OWSS. This study is expected to provide significant insights into the feasibility and scalability of an advanced, environmentally friendly, and relatively cost-effective OWS system, towards promising industrial implementation to overcome large-scale oil spill cleanup and oily wastewater treatment shortcomings.

Abstract
With increasing industrial development, frequent oil spillages in water; therefore, it is imperative and challenging to develop absorbents materials that are eco-efficiency, cost-effective, and pollution prevention. In this study, sorbents obtained from Lignin incorporated with Polypropylene in different levels loading 0, 10, 20 % wt using thermally induced phase separation Technique (TIPS). The Polypropylene/Lignin blend monoliths were fabricated and compared in terms of morphological, thermal, and wetting characterizations. The successfully blending of different lignin concentrations with preserved the chemical structure of the polymer was confirmed by FTIR analysis. Thermogravimetric tests displayed that the existence of Lignin has changed the onset temperature (Tonset) of the blending sorbents, decreasing as the loading of Lignin is increased. The contact angle measurement showed a decrease in the hydrophobicity of sorbents with increasing lignin loading, Polypropylene/Lignin blend monoliths showed better absorption toward oils (soybean - engine) as compared to Polypropylene itself. PP10L showed an improvement in the oil sorption capacity around 2 times compared to the Polypropylene. These excellent features make Polypropylene/Lignin blend monoliths more competitive promising candidates than commercial absorbent.
