Abstract
Endometriosis is a chronic systemic disease characterized by the presence of endometrium-like glands and/or stroma outside the uterus, usually with an associated inflammatory process. It affects around 5-10% of women worldwide, with chronic pelvic pain and infertility being the predominant symptoms. Although suspected clinically, transvaginal ultrasound (TVUS) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are the primary imaging tools for diagnosing pelvic endometriosis, as well as helping in pre-surgical mapping. Computed tomography (CT) is not the preferred imaging modality for detection or depiction of disease extent. However, CT of the abdomen and pelvis is often performed as the initial imaging test in women presenting with acute or non-specific abdominal/ pelvic pain. CT features of endometriosis can vary depending on the organ affected, and the correct diagnosis is often not suspected due to its nonspecific CT appearance and overlap with other pathologies. Ovarian endometriomas (OMAs), the most recognized phenotype of endometriosis, may appear as hyperdense adnexal masses either in the expected location of the ovaries or positioned posterior to the uterus. Endometriomas may rupture, presenting with hemoperitoneum. The uterus may be distorted and acutely retroflexed from deep endometriosis along the posterior uterine surface. The bowel can be affected by endometriosis, especially the rectosigmoid colon, presenting as enhancing soft tissue bridging from the posterior uterine surface to the anterior rectal wall. Small bowel involvement may present with recurrent small bowel obstructions. Involvement of the urinary system may present with ureteral obstruction or a bladder wall mass. Given such varied appearances, a high degree of clinical suspicion and knowledge of CT features suggestive of endometriosis is required to facilitate an early diagnosis. This review paper therefore describes the imaging findings of endometriosis that can be recognized on an abdominopelvic CT, with the goal of decreasing the existing delay to accurate diagnosis and improving long term patient outcomes.

Abstract
Endometriosis is a common condition impacting individuals assigned female at birth. Though incompletely understood, the disorder is caused by endometrial-like tissue located outside of the endometrial cavity, associated with inflammation and fibrosis. Clinical presentation is variable, ranging from asymptomatic to severe pelvic pain and infertility. Treatment is determined by the patient's individualized goals and can include medical therapies to temporize symptoms or definitive surgical excision. Imaging is used to help diagnose endometriosis and for treatment planning. The American College of Radiology Appropriateness Criteria are evidence-based guidelines for specific clinical conditions that are reviewed annually by a multidisciplinary expert panel. The guideline development and revision process support the systematic analysis of the medical literature from peer reviewed journals. Established methodology principles such as Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation or GRADE are adapted to evaluate the evidence. The RAND/UCLA Appropriateness Method User Manual provides the methodology to determine the appropriateness of imaging and treatment procedures for specific clinical scenarios. In those instances where peer reviewed literature is lacking or equivocal, experts may be the primary evidentiary source available to formulate a recommendation.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To compare computed tomography-enterography (CTE) and magnetic resonance-enterography (MRE) in the detection of right-sided bowel deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE). MATERIALS AND METHODS Fifty women with DIE who underwent preoperatively CTE and MRE were included. CTE and MRE were first analyzed separately by two independent readers who analyzed five bowel segments (cecum, appendix, ileocecal junction, distal ileum and proximal small bowel [i.e., proximal ileum and jejunum]) for the presence of DIE and then interpreted in consensus. CTE, MRE and CTE with MRE were compared in terms of sensitivity, specificity and accuracy. Interobserver agreement was assessed with kappa (κ) test. RESULTS Using the reference standard 25 out 250 bowel segments were involved by DIE in 18 women and 225 were free of DIE. Sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of CTE were 60% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 39-79), 93% (95% CI: 89-96) and 90% (95% CI: 85-93) for Reader 1, respectively, and 52% (95% CI: 31-72), 99% (95% CI: 97-100) and 94% (95% CI: 91-97) for Reader 2, with no differences in sensitivity (P = 0.564) and specificity (P = 0.181) between readers and fair interobserver agreement (κ = 0.37). For MRE these figures were 52% (95% CI: 31-72), 92% (95% CI: 88-95) and 88% (95% CI: 84-92) for Reader 1 and 60% (95% CI: 39-79), 99% (95% CI: 96-100) and 95% (95% CI: 91-97) for Reader 2, with no differences in sensitivity (P = 0.157) and specificity (P = 0.061) between readers and fair interobserver agreement (κ = 0.31). Significant differences in sensitivity (20%; 95% CI: 7-41) were found between CTE + MRE vs. CTE alone for Reader 1 and vs. MRE alone for Reader 2 (P = 0.041 for both) CONCLUSION: CTE and MRE have not different sensitivities and convey only fair interobserver agreement but are highly specific for the diagnosis of right-sided bowel DIE. CTE and MRE are complementary because they improve the detection of DIE implants when used in combination.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The digestive involvement of endometriosis accounts for up to 20-25% of deep localisations. Precise mapping of digestive lesions is essential in order to plan surgery and specialized teams. The aim of this study is to assess the contribution of the MRI-coloscan couple in the preoperative assessment of digestive endometriosis. METHODS We analyzed 45 files of patients referred for suspected digestive endometriosis. They had all undergone a preoperative MRI and coloscan associated with surgery throughout the year. We first compared the data collected in imaging, and then compared the synthesis of this data with the surgical procedure performed. RESULTS 35 patients required digestive surgery. 24 of 45 files were concordant in MRI and coloscanner. Data from MRI alone matched with surgery in 69% of cases, against 84% for the coloscan. The synthesis allowed a concordance of 89%. 25 segmental resections, 2 discoid and 16 shaving were performed. The use of coloscan made up for nine extra cases: the detection of four additional cases of multifocality, a single undiagnosed case of a deep lesion, and allowed to specify the depth of the involvement in four cases. On the contrary, the MRI was correct compared to the CT in four cases. The presence of a digestive surgeon was necessary in 53% of cases. CONCLUSION In the era of imaging staging, it would seem interesting to turn towards a subclassification of the digestive involvement of endometriosis in order to decide which surgery to perform. In our experience, the coloscan is a useful complement of MR, especially to assess the depth of involvement and the multifocality.

Abstract
Endometriotic lesions may affect peritoneal and ovarian tissues, cause secondary adhesions, and - in case of deep endometriosis (DE), invade organs such as the urinary bladder, ureters, and bowel. Over decades, several classification systems have been proposed with the rASRM score being the most widely accepted one to date. However, the rASRM classification has certain limitations regarding the description of DE. In contrast, the Enzian classification, which has been updated and modified recently in the form of the so-called #Enzian classification, has proved to be the most suitable tool for staging DE and now also includes peritoneal or ovarian diseases as well as adhesions. In the ideal scenario, a classification for endometriosis can be used with both diagnostic and surgical methods. The present work discusses the pros and cons of scores for endometriosis and highlights the need for using one universal classification system.

Abstract
Endometriosis is a common entity causing chronic pain and infertility in women. The gold standard method for diagnosis is diagnostic laparoscopy, which is invasive and costly. MRI has shown promise in its ability to diagnose endometriosis and its efficacy for preoperative planning. The Society of Abdominal Radiology established a Disease-Focused Panel (DFP) to improve patient care for patients with endometriosis. In this article, the DFP performs a literature review and uses its own experience to provide technical recommendations on optimizing MRI Pelvis for the evaluation of endometriosis.

Abstract
Endometriosis is a chronic condition primarily affecting young women of reproductive age. Although some women with bowel endometriosis may be asymptomatic patients typically report a myriad of symptoms such as alteration in bowel habits (constipation/diarrhoea) dyschezia, dysmenorrhoea and dyspareunia in addition to infertility. To date, there are no clear guidelines on the evaluation of patients with suspected bowel endometriosis. Several techniques have been proposed including transvaginal and/or transrectal ultrasonography, magnetic resonance imaging, and double-contrast barium enema. These different imaging modalities provide greater information regarding presence, location and extent of endometriosis ensuring patients are adequately informed whilst also optimizing preoperative planning. In cases where surgical management is indicated, surgery should be performed by experienced surgeons, in centres with access to multidisciplinary care. Treatment should be tailored according to patient symptoms and wishes with a view to excising as much disease as possible, whilst at the same time preserving organ function. In this review article current perspectives on diagnosis and management of bowel endometriosis are discussed.

Abstract
PURPOSE To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis regarding the performance of CT for diagnosis of bowel endometriosis. MATERIALS AND METHODS Pubmed and EMBASE were systematically searched up to March 28, 2019. Diagnostic accuracy studies using CT for diagnosis of bowel endometriosis using laparoscopy followed by histopathology as the reference standard were included. Methodological quality of the included studies was evaluated using Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-2. Sensitivity and specificity were pooled using hierarchical summary receiver operating modelling. Meta-regression analysis was done to explore heterogeneity. RESULTS Twelve studies (1091 patients) were included. Pooled sensitivity and specificity were 0.92 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.83-0.97) and 0.95 (95% CI, 0.88-0.98), respectively. Substantial heterogeneity was present: I2 = 92.38% for sensitivity and 89.09% for specificity. Deeks' asymmetry test suggested publication bias (p = 0.04). At meta-regression analysis, history of prior surgery for endometriosis was the only significant factor affecting heterogeneity (p < 0.01). Specifically, studies that included patients with such history demonstrated significantly greater specificity than studies that did not (0.95 [95% CI, 0.91-1.00] vs 0.75 [95% CI, 0.43-1.00]). CONCLUSIONS CT shows excellent performance in the diagnosis of bowel endometriosis. Due to small number of included studies and publication bias, further studies may be needed to validate these results.

STUDY OBJECTIVE To prospectively determine the accuracy of magnetic resonance enterography (MRE) compared with conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for multifocal (i.e., multiple lesions affecting the same digestive segment) and multicentric (i.e., multiple lesions affecting several digestive segments) bowel endometriosis. DESIGN A prospective study (Canadian Task Force classification II-2). SETTING Tenon University Hospital, Paris, France. PATIENTS Patients with MRI-suspected colorectal endometriosis scheduled for colorectal resection from April 2014 to February 2016 were included. INTERVENTIONS Patients underwent both 1.5-Tesla MRI and MRE as well as laparoscopically assisted and open colorectal resections. MEASUREMENTS AND MAIN RESULTS The diagnostic performance of MRI and MRE was evaluated for sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values, accuracy, and positive and negative likelihood ratios (LRs). The interobserver variability of the experienced and junior radiologists was quantified using weighted statistics. Forty-seven patients were included. Twenty-two (46.8%) patients had unifocal lesions, 14 (30%) had multifocal lesions, and 11 (23.4%) had multicentric lesions. The sensitivity, specificity, positive LR, and negative LR for the diagnosis of multifocal lesions were 0.29 (6/21), 1.00 (23/24), 15.36, and 0.71 for MRI and 0.57 (12/21), 0.89 (23/25), 4.95, and 0.58 for MRE. The sensitivity, specificity, positive LR, and negative LR for the diagnosis of multicentric lesions were 0.18 (1/11), 1.00 (1/1), 15, and 0.80 for MRI and 0.46 (5/11), 0.92 (33/36), 5.45, and 0.60 for MRE. Lower accuracies for MRI compared with MRE to diagnose multicentric (p = .01) and multifocal lesions (p = .004) were noted. The interobserver agreement for MRE was good for both multifocality (κ = 0.80) and multicentricity (κ = 0.61). CONCLUSION MRE has better accuracy for diagnosing multifocal and multicentric bowel endometriosis than conventional MRI.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To compare the accuracy of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and rectal endoscopic sonography (RES) for the diagnosis of colorectal endometriosis. METHODS In retrospective study, 407 patients operated on service of gynecology of Tenon hospital for deep endometriosis with suspected colorectal involvement. All patients underwent MRI and then RES. RESULTS In the study, 239 patients (59%) had colorectal endometriosis which were diagnosed with the histology. The sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value (PPV and NPV) of RES and MRI for the diagnosis of colorectal endometriosis were respectively 92%, 87%, 91%, 88% and 85%, 88%, 91%, 80%. The accuracy of RES was not significantly different than MRI (90% versus 86%, P=0.09). CONCLUSION RES is a good exam to diagnose colorectal endometriosis. It is able to improve diagnosis performances.

Abstract
The IDEA (International Deep Endometriosis Analysis group) statement is a consensus opinion on terms, definitions and measurements that may be used to describe the sonographic features of the different phenotypes of endometriosis. Currently, it is difficult to compare results between published studies because authors use different terms when describing the same structures and anatomical locations. We hope that the terms and definitions suggested herein will be adopted in centers around the world. This would result in consistent use of nomenclature when describing the ultrasound location and extent of endometriosis. We believe that the standardization of terminology will allow meaningful comparisons between future studies in women with an ultrasound diagnosis of endometriosis and should facilitate multicenter research. Abstract
Computed tomographic colonography (CTC) is a minimally invasive, patient-friendly, safe and robust colonic imaging modality. The technique is standardized and consolidated evidence from the literature shows that the diagnostic performances for the detection of colorectal cancer and large polyps are similar to colonoscopy (CS) and largely superior to alternative radiological exams, like barium enema. A clear understanding of the exact role of CTC will be beneficial to maximize the benefits and minimize the potential sources of frustration or disappointment for both referring clinicians and patients. Incomplete, failed, or unfeasible CS; investigation of elderly, and frail patients and assessment of diverticular disease are major indications supported by evidence-based data and agreed by the endoscopists. The use of CTC for symptomatic patients, colorectal cancer screening and colonic surveillance is still under debate and, thus, recommended only if CS is unfeasible or refused by patients.
