Abstract
This study employed an innovative copper oxide/cuprous oxide (CuO/Cu2O) polyhedron‑cadmium sulphide quantum dots (CdS QDs) double Z-scheme heterostructure as a matrix for the cathodic PEC determination of mercury ions (Hg2+). First, the CuO/Cu2O polyhedral composite was prepared by calcining a copper-based metal organic framework (Cu-MOF). Subsequently, the amino-modified CuO/Cu2O was integrated with mercaptopropionic acid (MPA)-capped CdS QDs to form a CuO/Cu2O polyhedron-CdS QDs double Z-scheme heterostructure, producing a strong cathodic photocurrent. Importantly, this heterostructure exhibited a specifically reduced photocurrent for Hg2+ when using CdS QDs as Hg2+-recognition probe. This was attributed to the extreme destruction of the double Z-scheme heterostructure and the in situ formation of the CuO/Cu2O-CdS/HgS heterostructure. Besides, p-type HgS competed with the matrix for electron acceptors, further decreasing the photocurrent. Consequently, Hg2+ was sensitively assayed, with a low detection limit (0.11 pM). The as-prepared PEC sensor was also used to analyse Hg2+ in food and the environment.

Abstract
Sensitive and quantitative detection of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) has been determined to be indispensable for clinical diagnostics of prostate cancer, whereas such detection is quite challenging due to the extremely low concentration of biomarkers in human serum samples. In this study, a photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor was effectively developed for the high-sensitivity analysis of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) using a signal amplification method utilizing sensitized carbon quantum dots (CQDs). In this experiment, cadmium sulfide quantum dots were employed as the substrate materials, and indium copper sulfide quantum dots were loaded on their surfaces. Moreover, the efficient matching of energy levels in these two materials contributed to the generation of photocurrents. The aforementioned heterojunction semiconductor QDs were thus combined with CQDs to produce CQDs on their surfaces. As a result of the presence of CQDs, the ability of heterojunction materials to absorb light was remarkably enhanced, increasing the photocurrent by over ten times. Consequently, in this study, CQDs were combined with PEC sensors, and the developed PEC biosensors exhibited excellent optical performance, sensitivity, repeatability, and stability. The results obtained from the analysis of actual samples were satisfactory and have promising application prospects.

Abstract
A molecularly-imprinted electrochemiluminescence sensor was constructed for the determination of fenpropathrin (FPT) by molecular imprinting technology. In this sensing platform, the introduction of CdS@MWCNTs significantly enhanced the initial ECL signal of the luminol-O2 system. Specifically, MWCNTs was used as a carrier to adsorb more CdS, in which CdS acted as a co-reaction promoter for luminescence. Molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) containing specific recognition sites of FPT was used as the material for selective recognition. With increasing amount of FPT the ECL signal decreased. Under the optimum conditions, the ECL response was linearly related to the logarithm of FPT concentration. The developed ECL sensor allowed for sensitive determination of FPT and exhibited a wide linear range from 1.0 × 10- 10 mol L- 1 to 1.0 × 10- 6 mol L- 1. The limit of detection was 3.3 × 10- 11 mol L- 1 (S/N = 3). It can be used for the detection of FPT in vegetable samples.

Abstract
Human health and ecology are seriously threatened by harmful environmental contaminants. It is essential to develop efficient and simple methods for their detection. Environmental pollutants can be detected using photoelectrochemical (PEC) detection technologies. The key ingredient in the PEC sensing system is the photoactive material. Due to the unique characteristics, such as a large surface area, enhanced exposure of active sites, and effective mass capture and diffusion, porous materials have been regarded as ideal sensing materials for the construction of PEC sensors. Extensive efforts have been devoted to the development and modification of PEC sensors based on porous materials. However, a review of the relationship between detection performance and the structure of porous materials is still lacking. In this work, we present an overview of PEC sensors based on porous materials. A number of typical porous materials are introduced separately, and their applications in PEC detection of different types of environmental pollutants are also discussed. More importantly, special attention has been paid to how the porous material's structure affects aspects like sensitivity, selectivity, and detection limits of the associated PEC sensor. In addition, future research perspectives in the area of PEC sensors based on porous materials are presented.

Abstract
Herein, a sensitive photoelectrochemical (PEC) biosensor was designed for the detection of mercury ions (Hg2+) on the basis of the efficient sensitization of cadmium telluride quantum dots (CdTe QDs) towards 3,4,9,10-perylenetetracarboxylic dianhydride (PTCDA) and the significant quenching ability of a thymine-Hg2+-thymine (T-Hg2+-T) structure. The proposed CdTe QD/PTCDA sensitized structure was successfully constructed via continuous incubation of PTCDA and CdTe QDs on the glassy carbon electrode (GCE) interface, which embraced strong light absorption capacity and high carrier separation efficiency, giving rise to a remarkably improved initial photocurrent response. Notably, the PEC signal generated from the CdTe QD/PTCDA sensitized structure was almost fivefold higher than that of PTCDA owing to the efficient sensitization of CdTe QDs towards PTCDA. Once target Hg2+ ions were added, a T-rich S1 strand modified on the surface of 1-hexanethiol (HT)/S1/gold nanoparticles (Au NPs)/CdTe QDs/PTCDA/GCE immediately reacted with Hg2+ to produce multiple stable T-Hg2+-T structures. Therefore, the initial PEC signal would be considerably quenched by a high steric hindrance effect derived from the T-Hg2+-T structures. As a result, a quenched PEC response could achieve the detection of Hg2+ in concentrations ranging from 100 fM to 1000 nM. More importantly, the combination of the CdTe QDs/PTCDA sensitization structure and the T-Hg2+-T structure paves a promising pathway to developing a novel PEC biosensing platform for Hg2+ detection and also provides a favorable strategy for monitoring environmental pollution related to Hg2+.

Abstract
A novel electrochemiluminescence (ECL) sensor was constructed for the detection of permethrin by modifying Fe3CuO4-Ru(bpy)32+ and GO-CdS@ZnS on the electrode. Fe3CuO4 was used as a carrier to adsorb more luminous reagent Ru(bpy)32+ to promote luminescence. Meanwhile, it also can be used as a co-reaction promoter to amplify the initial signal of Ru(bpy)32+-tri-n-propylamine (TPrA) system. When GO-CdS@ZnS was introduced into this system, the ECL signal was further enhanced. The porous nature of graphene oxide (GO) was utilized to load a large amount of CdS@ZnS, in which CdS@ZnS acted as the co-reactant to amplify the ECL signal. The amount of permethrin (PMT) increased and the ECL signal decreased. Under the optimum conditions, the ECL response was linearly related to the logarithm of PMT concentration. The developed ECL sensor allowed for sensitive determination of PMT and exhibited a wide linear range from 1.0 × 10-11 mol L-1 to 1.0 × 10-7 mol L-1. The limit of detection was 3.3 × 10-12 mol L-1 (S/N = 3). It can be used for the detection of PMT in vegetable samples.

In situ Hg 2+ improved the peroxidase-like activity and triggered "ON" the oxidase-like activity of yolk-shell Co 3S 4 microspheres for the detection of Hg 2. Analyst 2024; 149:824-835. Abstract
Exploring highly active nanozymes is an important task to realize the real-time detection of some heavy metal ions in water. In this work, yolk-shell Co3S4 microspheres have been verified to possess excellent peroxidase-like activity, which can be further improved by adding Hg2+. Very interestingly, Hg2+ can trigger "ON" the oxidase-like activity of Co3S4 microspheres. The dual peroxidase-/oxidase-like activity of the yolk-shell Co3S4 microspheres is evaluated by using the chromogenic substrate 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB). Furthermore, comprehensive studies verify that the enhanced peroxidase-like activity, together with the "ON" oxidase-like activity of the yolk-shell Co3S4 microspheres, is attributed to the in situ generation of HgS on the surface of Co3S4 microspheres and then the release of more active sites. Importantly, the in situ generated HgS on the surface of Co3S4 microspheres can form a heterojunction, which also accelerates the catalytic process. During the catalytic reaction, some active species (O2- and h+) can be detected by ESR. Thus, a colorimetric sensing platform based on Hg2+-triggered signal amplification has been successfully constructed, which can be validated by the detection of Hg2+ residue in environmental water.

Abstract
Pesticides have become an integral part of modern agricultural practices, but their widespread use poses a significant threat to human health. As such, there is a pressing need to develop effective methods for detecting pesticides in food and environmental samples. Traditional chromatography methods and common rapid detection methods cannot satisfy accuracy, portability, long storage time, and solution stability at the same time. In recent years, photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensing technology has gained attention as a promising approach for detecting various pesticides due to its salient advantages, including high sensitivity, low cost, simple operation, fast response, and easy miniaturization, thus becoming a competitive candidate for real-time and on-site monitoring of pesticide levels. This review provides an overview of the recent advancements in PEC methods for pesticide detection and their applications in ensuring food and environmental safety, with a focus on the categories of photoactive materials, from single semiconductor to semiconductor-semiconductor heterojunction, and signaling mechanisms of PEC sensing platforms, including oxidation of pesticides, steric hindrance, generation/decrease in sacrificial agents, and introduction/release of photoactive materials. Additionally, this review will offer insights into future prospects and confrontations, thereby contributing novel perspectives to this evolving domain.

Abstract
In this work, a photoelectrochemical sensor for Cu2+ trace detection was prepared based on the excellent semiconductor material BiVO4 modified ITO electrode. It was found that Cu2+ formed a doping effect by adsorption on the surface of ITO/BiVO4 electrode, which inhibited the photogenerated electron complex and thus caused an increase in photocurrent. In addition, due to the complexation effect of EDTA on Cu2+, the Cu2+ adsorbed on the electrode surface is desorbed and the photocurrent returns to the blank value, making it possible to reuse electrodes. Under optimal conditions, the linearity range was measured between 0.1 pM and 0.1 μM and the detection limit was 0.063 pM. The PEC sensor exhibits the advantages of high sensitivity and reusability for Cu2+ detection. This provides a novel PEC detection platform for Cu2+ monitoring in environmental water samples.

Abstract
Graphene and graphene-like two-dimensional layered nanomaterials-based photoelectrochemical (PEC) biosensors have recently grown rapidly in popularity thanks to their advantages of high sensitivity and low background signal, which have attracted tremendous attention in ultrahigh sensitive small molecule detection. This work proposes a non-enzymatic and visible-light-sensitive PEC biosensing platform based on ZIF-67@MoS2/rGO composite which is synthesized through a facile and one-step microwave-assisted hydrothermal method. The combination of MoS2 and rGO could construct van der Waals heterostructures, which not only act as visible-light-active nanomaterials, but facilitate charge carriers transfer between the photoelectrode and glassy carbon electrode (GCE). ZIF-67 anchored on MoS2/rGO heterostructures provides large specific surface areas and a high proportion of catalytic sites, which cooperate with MoS2 nanosheets, realizing rapid and efficient enzyme-free electrocatalytic oxidation of glucose. The ZIF-67@MoS2/rGO-modified GCE can realize the rapid and sensitive detection of glucose at low detection voltage, which exhibits a high sensitivity of 12.62 μAmM-1cm-2. Finally, the ZIF-67@MoS2/rGO PEC biosensor is developed by integrating the ZIF-67@MoS2/rGO with a screen-printed electrode (SPE), which exhibits a high sensitivity of 3.479 μAmM-1cm-2 and a low detection limit of 1.39 μM. The biosensor's selectivity, stability, and repeatability are systematically investigated, and its practicability is evaluated by detecting clinical serum samples.

Abstract
In light of potential risks of heavy metal exposure, diverse aptasensors have been developed through the combination of aptamers with nanomaterials for the timely and efficient detection of metals in environmental and biological matrices. Aptamer-based sensors can benefit from multiple merits such as heightened sensitivity, facile production, uncomplicated operation, exceptional specificity, enhanced stability, low immunogenicity, and cost-effectiveness. This review highlights the detection capabilities of nanomaterial-based aptasensors for heavy-metal and metalloid ions based on their performance in terms of the basic quality assurance parameters (e.g., limit of detection, linear dynamic range, and response time). Out of covered studies, dendrimer/CdTe@CdS QDs-based ECL aptasensor was found as the most sensitive option with an LOD of 2.0 aM (atto-molar: 10-18 M) detection for Hg2+. The existing challenges in the nanomaterial-based aptasensors and their scientific solutions are also discussed.

Abstract
Due to the inherent merits of the anodic photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor, it was widely utilized in the field of analytical chemistry. However, it must be noted that the anodic PEC sensor was susceptible to interference in practical applications. The situation with the cathodic PEC sensor was exactly the opposite. Therefore, this work fabricated a PEC sensor combining photoanode and photocathode that solved the defects of conventional PEC sensors in detecting Hg2+. Specifically, Na2S solution was carefully dropped on the BiOI-modified indium-tin oxide (ITO) to obtain ITO/BiOI/Bi2S3 directly by self-sacrifice method and the resulting electrode was used as photoanode. In addition, a sequential modification process was employed to decorate the ITO substrate with Au nanoparticles (Au NPs), Cu2O, and L-cysteine (L-cys), thereby realizing the fabrication of the photocathode. Moreover, the presence of Au NPs further amplified the photocurrent of the PEC platform. During the detection process, when Hg2+ is present it will bind to the L-cys, resulting in an increase in current, thus enabling sensitive detection of Hg2+. The proposed PEC platform exhibited good stability and reproducibility, providing a new idea for the detection of other heavy metal ions.

Abstract
The use of dyes and segments has increased widely in recent years, but it poses a serious health risk to ecosystems. In this work, TiO2 and two-dimensional g-C3N4 nanosheets (g-CN) were fabricated through co-precipitation and thermal polymerization technique, respectively. The g-CN-TiO2 photocatalyst (1: 3, 2: 2, 3: 1) in various weight percentages was prepared using a simple impregnation process. The photocatalytic behaviour of the g-CN, TiO2 NPs, and different weight percentages of g-CN-TiO2 photocatalyst was evaluated against methylene blue (MB) dye under UV-visible light illumination. Compared to pristine and other weight percentages of the g-CN-TiO2 nanocomposite, the optimized g-CN-TiO2 nanocomposite (3:1) showed promoted performance against MB dye. The enriched catalytic efficiency can be accredited to the low amount of TiO2 nanoparticles deposited on gCN nanosheets, possibly due to the boosted transport properties of the electron-hole pairs. The enriched photocatalytic behaviour can be attributed to the development of the Z-scheme system between TiO2 and g-CN. The current study is an outstanding demonstration of the development of maximum catalytic efficiency for destroying hazardous chemical dyes.

Abstract
A highly sensitive self-powered photoelectrochemical (spPEC) sensing platform was constructed for Hg2+ determination based on the g-C3N4-CdS-CuO co-sensitized photoelectrode and a visible light-induced redox cycle for signal amplification. Through successively coating the single-layer g-C3N4, CdS, and CuO onto the surface of an electrode, the modified electrode exhibited significantly enhanced PEC activity. The microstructure of the material was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). However, the boost in photocurrent could be noticeably suppressed due to the consumption of hole-scavenging agents (reduced glutathione) by the added Hg2+. Under optimal conditions, we discovered that the photocurrent was linearly related to the Hg2+ concentration in the range of 5 pM–100 nM. The detection limit for Hg2+ was 0.84 pM. Moreover, the spPEC sensor demonstrated good performance for the detection of mercury ions in human urine and artificial saliva.

Abstract
The development of the effective diagnostic method for the determination of cancer biomarkers is one of the most promising strategies for early clinical diagnosis of cancer. Here, based on the preparation of heterogeneous cuprous oxide coated silver (Ag@Cu2O) nanocomposites/graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4)/cadmium sulfide (CdS) nanoarrays structure, a highly sensitive photoelectrochemical (PEC) biosensor for the examination of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) has been constructed successfully. The combination of photoactive semiconductor materials g-C3N4 and CdS increases the electron transfer rate between them and enhances their photocurrent response, thus greatly increasing the concentration detection range. At the same time, the specific recognition between antigen and antibody is used to form a sandwich structure secondary antibody (Ab2)/CEA/antibody (Ab1). And because Ag@Cu2O has the function of absorbing light and consuming electron donor. Therefore, the successful measurement of CEA was achieved by labeling Ag@Cu2O on Ab2 and finally immobilizing it on the sensor to correlate the current reduction with the CEA concentration. The sandwich PEC biosensor proposed by this signal amplification strategy under optimal conditions has good analytical performance for CEA, with a wide linear detection range (from 10-5 to 1 ng/mL) and a low detection limit of 0.0011 pg/mL. The PEC biosensor constructed by this method showed high sensitivity, excellent anti-interference ability, favourable repeatability, and good stability.

Abstract
Water pollution presents a significant environmental concern on earth. Herein, due to the serious environmental harmfulness of arsenate [As(V)], an iron phthalocyanine (FePc)-induced switchable photocurrent-polarity platform was developed for highly selective assay of As(V). First, magnetic Co3O4-Fe3O4 cubes were obtained by calcination of the CoFe Prussian blue analogue and then functionalized with oligonucleotide (S1). In the presence of As(V), S1 could be released based on the stronger affinity between As(V) and Co3O4-Fe3O4 cubes. After magnetic separation by Co3O4-Fe3O4 cubes, the released S1 was used to trigger the catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA) and hybridization chain reaction, resulting in the formation of lots of G-quadruplex structures on the AgInS2/ITO electrode. Then, the capture of FePc by the G-quadruplex led to the switch of the photocurrent polarity of the AgInS2/ITO electrode from the anode to the cathode. Thus, As(V) was sensitively assayed with a low detection limit of 1.0 nM and a wide linear response range from 10 nM to 200 μM. This meets the detection requirement of the World Health Organization for the arsenic concentration in drinking water [less than 10 μg L-1 (130 nM)]. In addition, whether it was cationic or anionic interferents except phosphate (PO43-), only As(V) could generate the cathodic photocurrent, effectively avoiding the false-positive or false-negative results during As(V) assay. Interestingly, As(V) was also simultaneously separated from the detection system by Co3O4-Fe3O4 magnetic cubes. The proposed photoelectrochemical platform may have a great potential application for the selective detection of As(V) in environmental fields.

Abstract
Nanomaterial selection is critical for photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensing. In this report, a novel cathodic photoelectrochemical (PEC) strategy was proposed for the detection of doxorubicin hydrochloride (Dox) and gentamicin sulfate (CN). The photocathode was synthesized by noncovalently coupling cadmium sulfide (CdS) to the porphyrin-derived metal-organic framework (CdS@PCN-224). This type of assembly created a pleasant interface for the combination of doxorubicin hydrochloride and gentamicin sulfate, resulting in a good CdS@PCN-224 donor-acceptor system. When compared to a single optoelectronic material, its photocurrent is enhanced by unprecedented nine times. This research could pave the way for the realization of PCN-224's enormous potential in PEC sensing.

Abstract
Heavy metal pollution has severe threats to the ecological environment and human health. Thus, it is urgent to achieve the rapid, selective, sensitive and portable detection of heavy metal ions. To overcome the defects of traditional methods such as time-consuming, low sensitivity, high cost and complicated operation, QDs (Quantum dots)-based nanomaterials have been used in sensors to significantly improve the sensing performance. Due to their excellent physicochemical properties, high specific surface area, high adsorption and reactive capacity, nanomaterials could act as potential probes or offer enhanced sensitivity and create a promising nanosensors platform. In this review, the rapidly advancing types of QDs for heavy metal ions detection are first summarized. Modified with ligands, nanomaterials, or biomaterials, QDs are assembled on sensors by the interaction of electrostatic adsorption, chemical bonding, steric hindrance, and base-pairing. The stability of QDs-based nanosensors is improved by doping the elements to QDs, providing the reference substance, optimizing the assemble strategies and so on. Then, according to transducer principles, the two most typical sensor categories based on QDs: optical and electrochemical sensors are highlighted to be discussed. In the meanwhile, portable devices combining with QDs to adapt the practical detection in complex situations are summarized. The deficiencies and future challenges of QDs in toxicity, specificity, portability, multi-metal co-detection and degradation during the detection are also pointed out. In the end, the development trends of QDs-based nanosensors for heavy metal ions detection are discussed. This review presents an overall understanding, recent advances, current challenges and future outlook of QDs-based nanosensors for heavy metal detection.

Abstract
A novel cathodic photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor was developed for the ultrasensitive detection of kanamycin sulfate (KAM) based on the g-C3N4 coupled zirconium-based porphyrinic metal-organic framework (PCN-222). Photocathodes made by double n-type semiconductors, which was attributed to the transfer of electrons and holes from g-C3N4 broad band to PCN-222 with narrow band gap. The photocurrent decreased when KAM was added, which was conducive to the construction of the PEC sensor. Then, the PCN-222@g-C3N4 was used as a photosensitive platform to construct a label-free strategy and ultrasensitive detection of KAM with wide linear range from 1 to 1000 nM and a low detection limit of 0.127 nM. Moreover, this sensing platform shows good selectivity, favourable reproducibility and brilliant stability. The reported sensors provided great potential for the detection of KAM in actual samples.

Abstract
The design and construction of a photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor with excellent photoelectric properties and good photoelectrocatalysis activity is significant for the effective detection of analytes. In this paper, based on a two-step anodic oxidation method and successive ionic layer adsorption (SILAR) method, a TiO2 nanotube array (TNT) photoelectrochemical sensor modified with BiOBr nanosheets was constructed and applied for the detection of H2O2 for the first time. The photocurrent of the photoelectrochemical sensor increases with the increase of the H2O2 concentration under the irradiation of an 8 W UV lamp. Excellent linearity was obtained in the concentration range from 10 nM to 100 μM with a low detection limit of 5 nM (S/N = 3). This excellent photoelectrochemical performance is due to the formation of a p-n heterojunction between BiOBr and TiO2 nanotube arrays, which provides efficient separation of charge carriers and accelerates electron transport. Moreover, it is applied to detect H2O2 in milk samples and it showed a good recovery result ranging from 95.73% to 105.65%, which provides a promising new strategy for the detection of H2O2.

Abstract
Kanamycin (Kana) is widely used as a veterinary medicine and its abuse causes a serious threat to human health, raising the urgent demand for detection of residual Kana in animal-derived food with high specificity and sensitivity. Here, we developed a photoelectrochemical (PEC) biosensor for rapid quantification of Kana, with lead sulfide quantum dots/titanium dioxide nanoparticles (PbS QDs/TiO2 NPs) as a photosensitive composite, a Kana-specific DNA aptamer as a functional sensor, and ruthenium(III) hexaammine (Ru(NH3)63+) as a signal booster. To prepare the PEC aptasensor, TiO2 NPs, PbS QDs, and polyethyleneimine (PEI) were respectively used to modify the indium tin oxide electrode, and then the amine-terminated aptamer probe was connected to the PEI via glutaraldehyde. Finally, Ru(NH3)63+ was attached on the surface of the aptamer to increase the photocurrent intensity. When Kana binds competitively with Ru(NH3)63+ to the aptamer immobilized on the surface of the aptasensor, Ru(NH3)63+ will be released from the aptamer, resulting in a decrease of the photocurrent signal. This PEC aptasensor exhibits a good linear relationship between the photocurrent shift and the logarithm of Kana concentration within the range of 1.0-300.0 nmol L-1, and the detection limit is 0.161 nmol L-1. Importantly, the PEC aptasensor presented good detection selectivity owing to specific interaction with Kana and was successfully implemented to quantify Kana in honey and milk, suggesting that the PEC aptasensor has the potential of rapid detection of residual Kana in animal-derived foods.

Abstract
Exploring excellent peroxidase mimics with enhanced peroxidase-like activity is important to the construction of a fast, low-cost, and convenient colorimetric sensing platform for heavy ions. In this work, 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl)porphyrin (H2TCPP) was first used to modify ZnS/CoS and make it show better peroxidase-like activity. The metal-cation vacancies generated by Hg2+ contacting H2TCPP/ZnS/CoS further stimulate the catalytic activity. It is reported that the addition of Hg2+ usually causes a decrease of the peroxidase-like activity of metal sulfides. Oppositely, in our work, Hg2+ can trigger the colorimetric signal amplification because of lots of metal-cation vacancies generated on the surface of the nanocomposites (bimetallic sulfides). The peroxidase-like activity of ZnS/CoS was evaluated by virtue of the chromogenic substrate 3,3,5,5-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) from colorless to blue in 3 min. The enhanced catalytic activity of H2TCPP/ZnS/CoS was attributed to lots of active sites from the metal-cation defects on the surface of H2TCPP/ZnS/CoS as well as the synergistic effect of porphyrin molecules and ZnS/CoS. The adsorption behavior of H2O2 on the H2TCPP/ZnS/CoS surface with defects was studied by density functional theory calculation. Thus, a colorimetric sensing platform based on Hg2+ trigger signal amplification has been successfully constructed, which can be used to sensitively and selectively determine Hg2+ in environmental samples.
