Abstract
In this study, the one-step switchable hydrophilic solvent (SHS)-based effervescence tablet microextraction (ETME) was coupled with smartphone digital image colorimetry (SDIC) for the field detection of nickel ion (Ni2+) for the first time. Both extractant and CO2 were generated in situ when the novel SHS-based effervescence tablet was placed in the sample solution. The complexant 1-(2-pyridinylazo)-2-naphthaleno (PAN) dissolved from the effervescence tablet to form a stable complex with Ni2+, and the extractant was uniformly dispersed in the sample solution under the action of CO2 and fully in contact with Ni-PAN, which enabled efficient extraction of Ni2+. The color changes of the extraction phase were captured by smartphone, then a quantitative relationship between the concentrations of Ni2+ and color intensity of images captured using a smartphone was established by customized applet WASDIC, which realized quantitative analysis of Ni2+ in different samples. Under optimal conditions, the enhancement factor (EF) of the proposed method was 65.1, the limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) were 1.69 and 5.64 μg L-1, respectively. The developed method was successfully applied to the detection of trace Ni2+ in the environmental samples and natural medicines. And the applicability of the method for use in field analysis was validated.

Abstract
The harmful effects of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) to humans and other organisms in the environment have been well established over the years, and more studies are ongoing to classify other chemicals that have the potential to alter or disrupt the regular function of the endocrine system. In addition to toxicological studies, analytical detection systems are progressively being improved to facilitate accurate determination of EDCs in biological, environmental and food samples. Recent microextraction methods have focused on the use of green chemicals that are safe for analytical applications, and present very low or no toxicity upon disposal. Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) have emerged as one of the viable alternatives to the conventional hazardous solvents, and their unique properties make them very useful in different applications. Notably, the use of renewable sources to prepare DESs leads to highly biodegradable products that mitigate negative ecological impacts. This review presents an overview of both organic and inorganic EDCs and their ramifications on human health. It also presents the fundamental principles of liquid phase and solid phase microextraction methods, and gives a comprehensive account of the use of DESs for the determination of EDCs in various samples.

Abstract
Herein, two novel amino-functionalized triazine-based hyper-crosslinked porous polymer (NH2-HCPs) (named as DPT-BB, DPT-DX) were designed and synthesized by direct crosslinking of 2,4-diamino-6-phenyl-1,3,5-triazine (DPT) with 4,4'-bis(chloromethyl)-1,1'-biphenyl (BB) or α, α'-dichloro-p-xylene (DX). Thanks to the amino functional group and hyper-crosslinked porous structure, NH2-HCPs displayed remarkable adsorption ability for phenolic EDCs. The adsorption mechanism mainly involved hydrogen bond, π-π interaction, hydrophobic interaction and pore filling. Thus DPT-BB was applied as solid phase extraction sorbent to extract phenolic EDCs from water and orange juice samples prior to quantitative analysis by high performance liquid chromatography. Under the optimal conditions, detection limit as low as 0.07-0.2 ng mL-1 for water and 0.1-0.27 ng mL-1 for orange juice was achieved. Good recoveries spanned the range of 83.5%-114% were obtained for spiked samples, with relative standard deviations below 8.9%. The results demonstrated that the developed method displayed excellent practicability for sensitive analysis of EDCs.

Abstract
In this study, Zn(NO3)2·6H2O was selected as the metal source, and ZIF-7-modified magnetic graphene-based matrix materials (MRGO@ZIF-7) were prepared by in situ growth. ZIF-7 modified magnetic graphene-based molecular imprinting complexes (MRGO@ZIF7-MIP) were successfully synthesized by a surface molecular imprinting technique using bisphenol A (BPA) as the template molecule. The obtained experimental materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Brunner–Emmet–Teller (BET) analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The proper adsorption and selective recognition ability of the MRGO@ZIF7-MIP were studied by an equilibrium adsorption method. The obtained MRGO@ZIF7-MIP showed significant molecular recognition of bisphenol A (BPA) and good selectivity and reproducibility for BPA in different aqueous environments such as drinking water, river water, and lake water. These properties make this material potentially applicable for the efficient removal of phenolic endocrine disruptors in real water environments.

Direct solidification of switchable-hydrophilicity salicylic acid: A design for the on-site dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction of benzoylurea insecticides in water and honey samples. J Chromatogr A 2023; 1688:463710. Abstract
This study describes the development of a fully manual method for on-site dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction based on the direct solidification of switchable-hydrophilicity salicylic acid (on-site DLLME-DSSA) coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography with an ultraviolet detector (HPLC-UVD) and its utilization for the detection of benzoylurea insecticides (BUs) in water and honey samples. Salicylic acid (SA), a switchable hydrophilic aromatic acid, was used as an extraction solvent. It can be converted into the hydrophobic/hydrophilic forms in pH-changeable solutions, facilitating facile and effective dispersion and phase separation. Moreover, the melting point of SA (significantly higher than room temperature) enables its direct solidification without an ice-water bath, facilitating its collection by filtration. The dispersion, separation, and collection of the extraction solvent were carried out entirely in a plastic syringe without requiring special apparatus or additional energy. Univariate and response surface analyses were used to optimize various parameters of the on-site DLLME-DSSA method. Under optimal conditions, the limits of determination (LODs) were 1.50 µg L-1 and 0.03-0.09 mg kg-1 in water and honey, respectively. The relative standard deviations (RSDs) for inter-day (n = 5) and intra-day (n = 5) precision were ≤8.4%, whereas the extraction recoveries and enrichment factors for the BUs ranged from 67.0 to 97.1% and 29 to 34, respectively. Furthermore, the proposed method was used for the on-site extraction and laboratory detection of BUs from real water and honey samples. Theoretical analyses indicated non-covalent interactions (such as hydrogen bonds, electrostatic interactions, van der Waals forces, and π-π interactions) to be the main driving force for extraction. This study introduces a switchable hydrophilic aromatic acid capable of direct solidification into on-site DLLME for the first time, opening new frontiers in the development of on-site sample pretreatment methods.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In recent years, protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO, EC 1.3.3.4) inhibitors have been widely studied as important agricultural herbicides. Our research focused on the design and synthesis of novel PPO inhibitor herbicides, through linking of a diphenylether pyridine bioisostere structure to substituted coumarins, which aims to enhance environmental and crop safety while retaining high efficacy. RESULTS A total of 21 compounds were synthesized via acylation reactions and all compounds were characterized using infrared, 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR, and high-resolution mass spectra. The respective configurations of compounds IV-6 and IV-12 were also confirmed using single crystal X-ray diffraction. The bioassay results showed that the title compounds displayed notable herbicidal activity, particularly compound IV-6 which displayed better herbicidal activity in greenhouse and field experiments, crop selectivity and safety for cotton and soybean compared with the commercial herbicide oxyfluorfen. CONCLUSION The work revealed that compound IV-6 deserves further attention as a candidate structure for a novel and safe herbicide. © 2021 Society of Chemical Industry.

Abstract
To seek novel and safe protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO, EC 1.3.3.4) inhibitors with excellent herbicidal activity. A series of novel phenoxypyridine derivatives containing natural product coumarins with allelopathy were designed and synthesized based on bioisosterism and active subunit combination in this research. Compounds W3.1 and W3.4, with the half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) value of 0.02653 mg/L and 0.01937 mg/L, respectively, displayed excellent herbicidal activity in greenhouse. Their herbicidal activity was similar to commercial herbicide oxyfluorfen (IC50 = 0.04943 mg/L). The best field inhibitory effect of compounds W3.1 and W3.4 recorded was at doses of 450 g ai/ha and 300 g ai/ha, respectively. Compound W3.4 had the best herbicidal activity among all the target compounds in this paper. Molecular docking analysis revealed that compounds W3.1 and W3.4 could form a hydrogen bonds with the amino acid AGR-98 and a π-π superposition with the amino acid PHE-398, respectively, which was similar to the oxyfluorfen. The crop selectivity tests results indicated that maize, cotton and soybean showed high tolerance to compound W3.4. Compound W3.4 reduced the Ca and Cb contents of wheat and rice, but had less effect on maize, cotton and soybean. Selectivity of compound W3.4 in maize, cotton and soybean were appeared to be due to reduced absorption of the herbicide compared to wheat and rice. Compound W3.4 deserves further attention as a candidate structure for new herbicides.

Abstract
Methotrexate, as a folate antagonist, is one of the first anti-neoplasm drugs offered and is still used as an effective drug in the treatment of various malignancies. Methotrexate has a narrow treatment index and is associated with numerous side effects. In thisresearch, for the first time a double-solvent supramolecular system (DSS) was developed as an extractant without disperser solvent for dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME). DSS - DLLME was applied to the extraction of methotrexate in plasma of children with acute leukemiaprior to itsdetermination by high-performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet detection (HPLC - UV). In the present method, two long normal chain alcohols are mixed in a particular ratio, and then it is injected into the sample solution, which is on the magnetic stirrer. In this case, the mixture of the two alcohol changes to new supramolecular aggregate. This new supermolecule is used as an extractant, which has a higher extraction power than any of its components alone. Under the optimum conditions, the calibration graph was linear in the rage of 0.1-150 µg L-1 with detection limit of 0.03 µg L-1. Relative standard deviations (RSDs) including intra-day and inter-day of method based on7 replicate determinations of 100.0 µg L-1of methotrexate were 2.6% and 4.8%,respectively. The results proved that DSS - DLLME is a sensitive, very simple, inexpensive, environmental friendly, rapid and efficient method for the preconcentration of trace amount of drugs in biological samples.

Abstract
Dispersive microextraction techniques are key in the analytical sample treatment context as they combine a favored thermodynamics and kinetics isolation of the target analytes from the sample matrix. The dispersion of the extractant in the form of tiny particles or drops, depending on the technique, into the sample enlarges the contact surface area between phases, thus enhancing the mass transference. This dispersion can be achieved by applying external energy sources, the use of chemicals, or the combination of both strategies. Effervescence-assisted microextraction emerged in 2011 as a new alternative in this context. The technique uses in situ-generated carbon dioxide as the disperser, and it has been successfully applied in the solid-phase and liquid-phase microextraction fields. This minireview explains the main fundamentals of the technique, its potential and the main developments reported.

Abstract
Deferasirox is an oral iron chelator that has been on the market since 2005 and has been a suitable replacement for injectable chelators. It is important to check the amount of this drug in the blood of patients due to side effects. In this study, a new dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction based on solidification of floating drganic drop (DLLME - SFO) was applied to the extraction of deferasirox in the blood of patients with thalassemia prior to its analysis by high-performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet detection (HPLC - UV). In this method, two long alcohols of the normal chain are mixed in a particular ratio, and then it is injected into the sample solution, which is on the magnetic stirrer. In this case, the mixture of the two alcohol changes to new double-solvent aggregate. This new double-solvent system is used as an extractant, which has a higher extraction power than any of its components alone. Under the optimum conditions, the calibration graph was linear in the rage of 0.2-200 μg L-1 with detection limit of 0.06 μg L-1. Repeatability (intra-day) and reproducibility (inter-day) of method based on seven replicate measurements of 100.0 μg L-1of deferasirox were 3.8 % and 5.7 %, respectively. The results showed that DLLME - SFO is a very simple, inexpensive, environmental friendly, sensitive and efficient analytical method for the determination of trace amount of drugs in biological samples and suitable results were obtained.

Abstract
Bisphenol A is a synthetic compound widely used in industry, in the production of polycarbonate, epoxy resins, and thermal paper, among others. Its annual production is estimated at millions of tons per year, demonstrating its importance. Despite its wide application in various everyday products, once in the environment (due to its disposal or leaching), it has high toxicity to humans and animal life, and this problem has been well known for years. Given this problem, many researchers seek alternatives for its monitoring in matrices such as natural water, waste, food, and biological matrices. For this, new advanced materials have been developed, characterized, and applied in creative ways for the preparation of samples for the determination of bisphenol A. This article aims to present some of these important and recent applications, describing the use of molecularly imprinted polymers, metal and covalent organic frameworks, ionic liquids and magnetic ionic liquids, and deep eutectic solvents as creative solutions in sample preparation for the long-standing problem of bisphenol A determination.

Abstract
Bisphenol A (BPA) is used as a stabilizing agent in many food packaging plastics and is a known endocrine-disrupting chemical that can alter the development of mammary glands, affect egg cells, and cause chromosomal defects. However, the pretreatment of traditional assays for detecting BPA is difficult. In this work, a novel aptamer functionalized magnetic adsorbent was developed and combined with magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) for the selective enrichment of BPA. First, magnetic silica-coated Fe3O4 microspheres (Fe3O4@SiO2) were synthesized by the sol-gel method, and functional magnetic nanoparticles (Fe3O4@SiO2@Apt) were formed by modifying with nucleic acids. In the presence of BPA in a MSPE system, the nucleic acid aptamer can specifically capture the target BPA. After magnetic separation, the Apt/BPA composite was eluted, and we observed enhanced fluorescence with the Apt/BPA composite that was formed. Our results showed that this method allowed a limit of detection of 0.05 ng mL-1.
