Abstract
A Schiff base complex of nickel, bis{(2-methoxy-6-[(E)-(propylimino)methyl]phenolato}nickel(II) was synthesised by condensing bis(2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde) nickel (II) and n-propylamine in methanolic medium. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis of the complex revealed it to possess planar geometry with a monoclinic crystal system. The non-isothermal TG/DTA runs on this complex in a high purity (99.99 %) nitrogen environment at atmospheric pressure confirmed the absence of any coordinated water. A sharp endotherm in its DTA shows a melting temperature range of 168-171 °C. It is thermally stable up to 243 °C and decomposes in two steps, yielding NiO and carbon as residue. In addition to the methoxy group (-OCH3), infrared analysis (IR) confirmed the presence of the characteristic azomethine group (-C[bond, double bond]N-) which is also responsible for the biological action. It was further analysed by elemental analyser (C, H, N), 1H and 13C NMR as well as mass spectrometry. It showed considerable antibacterial activity towards Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus when the concentration exceeds 200 μg/ml. The antifungal study shows significant inhibition with the antifungal drug imidazole as a positive control (PC). Small values of MIC, MBC/MIC indicate a lesser quantity of complex is required to inhibit the growth of micro-organisms.

Abstract
Metal complexes displaying antiplatelet properties is a promising research area. In our methodology, Platelet-Activating Factor (PAF), the most potent lipid pro-inflammatory mediator, serves as a biological probe. The antiplatelet activity is exerted by the inhibition of the PAF-induced aggregation in washed rabbit platelets (WRPs) and in rabbit plasma rich in platelets (rPRPs). Herein, the synthesis and biological investigation of a series of organometallic tin(II) and tin(IV) complexes, featuring the oxygen tripodal Kläui ligands [(η5-C5R5)Co{P(OEt)2O}3]-, {R = H, (LOEt-); Me (L*OEt-)}, are reported. Reaction of NaLOEt (1a) and NaL*OEt (1b) with SnCl2, yielded the rare four-coordinate LOEtSnCl (2a) and L*OEtSnCl (2b) complexes. Accordingly, LOEtSnPh3 (3a) and L*OEtSnPh3 (3b) were prepared, starting from Ph3SnCl. Characterization includes spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction studies for 2a, 2b and 3b. The antiplatelet activity of the lead complexes 2b and 3a (IC50 = 0.5 μΜ) is superior compared to that of 1a and 1b, while both complexes display a pronounced inhibitory activity against thrombin (IC50 = 1.8 μM and 0.6 μM). The in vitro cytotoxic activities of 3a and 2b on human Jurkat T lymphoblastic tumor cell line is higher than that of cisplatin.

Triphenyltin(IV) dithiocarbamate compound induces genotoxicity and cytotoxicity in K562 human erythroleukemia cells primarily via mitochondria-mediated apoptosis. Food Chem Toxicol 2022; 168:113336. Abstract
The novel di-and triphenyltin(IV) dithiocarbamate compounds represented as RnSnL2 (where R = C4H9, C6H5; n = 2,3; L = N,N-dithiocarbamate), Ph2Sn(N,N-diisopropyldithiocarbamate) (OC1), Ph3Sn(N,N-diisopropyldithiocarbamate) (OC2), Ph2Sn(N,N-diallyldithiocarbamate) (OC3), Ph3Sn(N,N-diallyldithiocarbamate) (OC4), and Ph2Sn(N,N-diethyldithiocarbamate) (OC5) were assessed for their cytotoxicity in K562 human erythroleukemia cells. All compounds inhibited the growth of cells at low micromolar concentrations (<10 μM), and the mechanism underlying their antiproliferative effects on K562 cells was apoptosis, as corroborated by the exposure of plasma membrane phosphatidylserine. OC2, which showed the most promising antiproliferative activity, was selected for further analyses. The results demonstrated that OC2 induced apoptosis in K562 cells via an intrinsic mitochondrial pathway triggered upon DNA damage, an early apoptotic signal. Subsequently, OC2 produced excessive intracellular reactive oxygen species. The role of oxidative stress was corroborated by the significant reduction in GSH levels and percentage of apoptosis in NAC-pretreated cells. OC2 could arrest the cell cycle progression in the S phase. These new findings elucidate the antiproliferative potential of OC2 in the K562 human erythroleukemia cells and warrant further investigation, specifically to determine the exact signaling pathway underlying its antileukemic efficacy.

Abstract
Organotin(IV) compounds have wide applications in industrial and agricultural fields owing to their ability to act as poly(vinyl chloride) stabilizers and catalytic agents as well as their medicinal properties. Moreover, organotin(IV) compounds may have applications as antitumor, anti-inflammatory, antifungal, or antimicrobial agents based on the observation of synergistic effects following the binding of their respective ligands, resulting in the enhancement of their biological activities. In this review, we describe the antiproliferative activities of organotin(IV) compounds in various human cancer cell lines based on different types of ligands. We also discuss the molecular mechanisms through which organotin(IV) compounds induce cell death via apoptosis through the mitochondrial intrinsic pathway. Finally, we present the mechanisms of cell cycle arrest induced by organotin(IV) compounds. Our report provides a basis for studies of the antitumor activities of organotin(IV) compounds and highlights the potential applications of these compounds as anticancer metallodrugs with low toxicity and few side effects.

Abstract
The title diorganotin Schiff base derivative, [Sn(C4H9)2(C15H13N3O2S)], features a penta-coordinated tin centre defined by the N,O,S-donor atoms of the di-anionic Schiff base ligand and two methyl-ene-C atoms of the n-butyl substituents. The resultant C2NOS donor set defines a geometry inter-mediate between trigonal-bipyramidal and square-pyramidal. In the crystal, amine-N-H⋯O(meth-oxy) hydrogen bonding is found in a helical, supra-molecular chain propagating along the b-axis direction. The chains are assembled into a layer parallel to (01) with methyl-ene-C-H⋯π(phen-yl) inter-actions prominent; layers stack without directional inter-actions between them. The analysis of the calculated Hirshfeld surface showed the presence of weak methyl-ene-C-H⋯π(phen-yl) inter-actions and short H⋯H contacts in the inter-layer region. Consistent with the nature of the identified contacts, the stabilization of the crystal is dominated by the dispersion energy term.

Abstract
In this study, the spectroscopic methods (UV-vis, fluorimetric), Atomic force microscopy, and computational studies (molecular docking and molecular dynamic simulation) were used to investigate the interaction of [SnMe2Cl2(Me2phen)] complex with CT-DNA in the presence of glucose. The results showed the complex in the medium containing glucose has less effect on calf thymus DNA (ct-DNA) than the medium without glucose. Cytotoxicity of [SnMe2Cl2(Me2phen)] complex on MCF-7 cells was examined and showed Sn(IV) complex possesses potential cytotoxicity against this cell line. Molecular docking study showed that Sn(IV) complex interacts with DNA by groove binding mode. Radius of gyration (Rg) was smaller upon binding of the Sn(IV) complex suggesting a more compact structure of DNA in the presence of Sn(IV) complex.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. Sarma.

Abstract
Three new benzaldehyde thiosemicarbazone derivatives namely benzaldehyde thiosemicarbazone (BST), 4-carboxyl benzaldehyde thiosemicarbazone (PBST) and 2-carboxyl benzaldehyde thiosemicarbazone (OCT) were synthesized and their inhibition effects on mild steel corrosion in 0.5 M H2SO4 solution were studied systematically using gravimetric and electrochemical measurements. Weight loss results revealed that PBST exhibited the highest inhibition efficiency of 96.6% among the investigated compounds when the concentration was 300 µM. The analysis of polarization curves indicated that the three benzaldehyde thiosemicarbazone derivatives acted as mixed type inhibitors and PBST and OCT predominantly anodic. The adsorption process of all these benzaldehyde thiosemicarbazone derivatives on Q235 steel surface in 0.5 M H2SO4 solution conformed to Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Scanning electron microscopy was conducted to show the presence of benzaldehyde thiosemicarbazone derivatives on Q235 mild steel surface. The results of theoretical calculations were in good agreement with that of experimental measurements.

Abstract
Organotins(IV) exhibit significant in vitro anti-proliferative activity, while the in vivo tests are encouraging. The recent reports on the anti-proliferative activity of organotin(IV) compounds are summarized in this review. The period covered by this work goes back to 2009 until late 2018, while the earlier ones, are included over the previous review of our group published by S.K. Hadjikakou, N. Hadjiliadis, in Coord Chem Rev, 253 (2009) 235-249. During the last decade (2009-2018), >300 organotin(IV) derivatives with oxygen-donor ligands, such as carboxylic acids, amino-acids, Non Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs), biological active derivatives or natural products, organotins(IV) with sulfur containing ligands such as thiones, thiosemicarbazones, dithiocarbamates, organotin(IV) compounds of oximes and organotins(IV) with amines or semicarbazones were screened for their anti-proliferative effect against various cancer cell lines and their results are included in numerous reports over this period. Although much work has been carried out on organotin(IV) derivatives with O-donor ligands, however significant fewer reports are found on organotins(IV) with oximes as ligands.

Abstract
Four binuclear phosphanesilver(I) dithiocarbamates, {cyclohexyl3PAg(S2CNRR')}2 for R = R' = Et (1), CH2CH2 (2), CH2CH2OH (3) and R = Me, R' = CH2CH2OH (4) have been synthesised and characterised by spectroscopy and crystallography, and feature tri-connective, μ2-bridging dithiocarbamate ligands and distorted tetrahedral geometries based on PS3 donor sets. The compounds were evaluated for anti-bacterial activity against a total of 12 clinically important pathogens. Based on minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and cell viability tests (human embryonic kidney cells, HEK 293), 1-4 are specifically active against Gram-positive bacteria while demonstrating low toxicity; 3 and 4 are active against methicillin resistant S. aureus (MRSA). Across the series, 4 was most effective and was more active than the standard anti-biotic chloramphenicol. Time kill assays reveal 1-4 to exhibit both time- and concentration-dependent pharmacokinetics against susceptible bacteria. Compound 4 demonstrates rapid (within 2 h) bactericidal activity at 1 and 2 × MIC to reach a maximum decrease of 5.2 log10 CFU/mL against S. aureus (MRSA).

Abstract
In this paper, synthesis and characterization of metal complexes [Cu2(L)3]ClO4 (1), [Ga(L)2]NO3·2H2O (2) and [In(L)2]NO3·H2O (3) (HL = 2-acetylpyridine N(4)-phenylthiosemicarbazone) was carried out, including elemental analysis, spectral analysis (IR, UV-vis, NMR), and X-ray crystallography. Complex 1 contains one S-bridged binuclear [Cu2(L)3]+ unit, where two Cu atoms display diverse coordination geometries: one being square planar geometry and the other octahedral geometry. Both 2 and 3 are mononuclear complexes, and the metal centers in 2 and 3 are chelated by two NNS tridentate ligands possessing a distorted octahedral geometry. Biological studies show that all the complexes possess a wide spectrum of modest to effective antibacterial activities and remarkable cytotoxicities against HepG2 cells, and 1, in particular, with an IC50 value of 0.19 ± 0.06 μM, is 113-fold and 28-fold more cytotoxic than HL and the antitumor drug mitoxantrone, respectively. In addition, 3 exhibits excellent photoluminescence properties. Upon the addition of 1 equiv of In3+ ions, a remarkable fluorescence intensity of HL and fluorescent color change (from transparent to light-green) could be observed with 365 nm light, indicating that this ligand may be used as a promising colorimetric and fluorescent probe for In3+ detection.

Abstract
This study is planned to report the advancement of green microwave approach in the fabrication of a new series of biologically potent (N^X, where X=O/S) donor Schiff bases and their cadmium(II) and tin(II) complexes. The ligands and their metal complexes have been characterized in terms of elemental analysis, molar ionic conductance, magnetic moment and spectral (IR, UV-Vis, NMR ((1)H, (119)Sn), FAB-mass, thermal and XRD) data. The data revealed that the ligands coordinated to the metal center via nitrogen and oxygen/sulfur atoms and form an octahedral arrangement of the ligands around central metal atom. All compounds were evaluated for their in vitro antimicrobial activities against two pathogenic bacteria Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli and two fungi Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus flavus by standard disc diffusion method. The discs were stored in an incubator at 37°C. The compounds were dissolved in DMF at 500 and 1000 ppm concentrations for screening biocidal activity. The compounds were dissolved in DMF to get the 100 and 200 ppm concentration of test solutions for screening fungicidal activity. The inhibition zone around each disc was measured (in mm) after 24 h and 96 h for biocidal and fungicidal activities respectively.
