Abstract
Organic radicals exhibiting SOMO-HOMO conversion (SHC) electronic configurations have recently garnered increasing attention due to their exceptional stability and photophysical properties. In this study, we investigate two series of phosphorus-boron cation radicals based on 1,3,5-trimethylphenyl units substituted with P and B atoms, varying numbers of P-B moieties, and π-conjugation linkers. We perform quantum-chemical calculations to systematically assess the influence of chemical substituents on the SHC electronic structural features. Our computational results demonstrate that the SHC electronic configurations of the studied complexes are primarily determined by the number of P-B moieties, specifically, phosphorus-boron cation radicals with two P-B moieties as terminal groups in π-conjugation linkers, which efficiently arrange electrons to increase HOMO energies compared to corresponding radicals with only one P-B unit. Furthermore, spin density distributions change as the size of π-conjugation linkers increases. Natural bond orbital (NBO) and atoms-in-molecules (AIM) analyses reveal strong intramolecular charge transfer between P and B atoms along with other stabilized donor-acceptor interactions and significant covalent bonds between P and B atoms. Moreover, synergistic effects resulting from 1,3,5-trimethylphenyl substitutions and enlarged π-conjugation linkers containing P-B units confer excellent photophysical properties upon these studied radicals, making them potential stable radicals in optoelectronic applications.

Abstract
In the current study, seven non-fullerene compounds abbreviated as ATTD2-ATTD8 were designed through structural tailoring and their nonlinear optical (NLO) properties were reported. The objective of this study was to explore the potential for newly configured D-π-A type non-fullerene-based compounds. Quantum chemical methods were adopted and revealed the molecules as highly efficient materials with favorable NLO characteristics for use in optoelectronic devices. The M06 functional along with the 6-311G(d,p) basis set in chloroform solvent were utilized for the natural bonding orbital (NBO) analysis, absorption spectra and computational assessments of frontier molecular orbitals (FMOs), global reactivity descriptors (GRPs), transition density matrix (TDM) and nonlinear optical properties (NLO) for ATTR1 and ATTD2-ATTD8. The HOMO-LUMO energy gap was significantly reduced in all the designed moieties compared to the reference compound in the following decreasing order: ATTR1 > ATTD8 > ATTD4 > ATTD5 > ATTD2 > ATTD7 > ATTD6 > ATTD3. All of the designed molecules (ATTD2-ATTD8) showed good NLO response. Global reactivity parameters were found to be closely associated with the band gap between the HOMO and LUMO orbitals, and the compound with the smallest energy gap, ATTD3, exhibited a lower hardness value of 1.754 eV and higher softness value of 0.570 eV with outstanding NLO response. For the reference compound and ATTD2-ATTD8 derivatives, attributes like dipole moment (μtot), average polarizability 〈α〉, first hyperpolarizability (βtot), and second hyperpolarizability γtot were calculated. Out of all the derivatives, ATTD3 revealed the highest amplitude with a βtot of 8.23 × 10-27 esu, which was consistent with the reduced band gap (1.754 eV) and suggested it was the best possibility for NLO materials in the future.

Abstract
The existence of lead ions seriously affects the quality of many metal products in metallurgical enterprises. Currently, the various methods of lead-ion removal tried by researchers will affect valuable metals in the removal process, thus resulting in low economic efficiency. In this study, a novel metal-organic framework adsorbent (UiO-FHD) which efficiently and selectively captures lead ions is developed by introducing multiple ligands. The maximum adsorption capacity of lead ions is 433.15 mg/g at pH 5. The adsorption process accords with the pseudo-second-order kinetic and the Langmuir isotherm models at room temperature. Thermodynamic experiments indicate that the removal of Pb(II) is facilitated by appropriate temperature reduction. The performance tests indicate that UiO-FHD maintains a high removal rate of 90.35% for Pb(II) after four consecutive adsorption-desorption cycles. The distribution coefficient of lead ions (26.7 L/g) shows that UiO-FHD has excellent selective adsorption for lead ions. It is revealed that the chelation of the sulfhydryl groups and the electrostatic interaction of the hydroxyl groups are the dominant factors to improve the removal rate of Pb(II) by density functional theory calculations. This study clarifies the value of self-designed novel organic ligands in metal-organic framework materials that selectively capture heavy-metal ions.

Abstract
Herein, an integral approach has been made towards the exploration of electronic and structural parameters of four synthesized (DMA with an A-π-A configuration and DMM, DAM, and DMD with a D-π-D configuration) and one designed (DMB-D) novel Schiff base compounds. Bis phenylenediamine derivatives were prepared by condensation of 4,5-dimethyl-o-phenylenediamine (1) with various substituted benzaldehydes (2a-d). The structures of compounds were confirmed by spectroscopic techniques, i.e., UV-visible, FT-IR, and NMR spectroscopy. The DFT-based analysis of entitled compounds was performed via density functional theory utilizing the M06-2X functional in conjugation with the 6-311G(d,p) basis set to acquire geometrical parameters, natural bonding orbital (NBO), the density of states (DOS), non-linear optical (NLO), molecular electrostatic potential (MESP), and natural population analyses. The smallest band gap of (5.446 eV) was noted for DMAvia frontier molecular orbital (FMO) analysis. GRPs were obtained with the aid of E gap values as DMA with the lowest band gap displayed a small magnitude of hardness (2.723 eV) and a large magnitude of softness (0.183 eV). The β tot values of DMA, DMM, DMB-D, DAM, and DMD were 56.95, 0.43, 2.53, 8.98, and 68.47 times larger than urea (β tot = 3.71 × 10-31 e.s.u.), respectively. The observed fascinating NLO properties of these novel compounds might be helpful for further advancement in non-linear optics.

Abstract
Herein, a series of N-1-sulfonyl substituted derivatives of 2-substituted benzimidazoles (2a-2e) were designed and synthesized via structural tailoring of the acceptor part of donor-π-acceptor schemes, and their nonlinear optic (NLO) characteristics were reported. The structures of 2a-2e were investigated and their characterization was accomplished by employing spectroscopic procedures, i.e., UV-vis, FT-IR, and 1H and 13C NMR. Further, a density functional theory (DFT) approach was used to calculate UV-vis, vibrational, and 1H and 13C NMR techniques; frontier molecular orbitals (FMOs); global reactivity parameters (GRPs); natural bond orbitals (NBOs); optical and vibrational analysis; and nonlinear optics (NLO). The most promising results were obtained for 6-nitro-2-(4-nitrophenyl)-1-(4-nitrophenylsulfonyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole among entitled compounds, as it exhibited the highest ⟨α⟩ and βtot values, showing it is an eye-catching NLO material. This DFT study evokes the interest of researchers regarding the development of benzimidazole-based tempting NLO compounds that could be beneficial in modern hi-tech applications.

Abstract
High-energy materials containing azole and furazan have revealed numerous properties; however, the underlying optical properties need to be solved. Meanwhile, the uncertainty for the choice of fluorescent matrix materials and the flexible situational conditions prompted us to estimate the optical and fluorescent properties of 5,5'-dinitro-2H,2H'-3,3'-bi-1,2,4-triazole (DNBT), 4,4'-dinitroazolefurazan (DNAF), and 4,4'-dinitro-3,3'-4,3'-ter-1,2,5-oxadiazole (DNTO). The first-principles calculation with improved dispersion correction terms and time-dependent density functional theory were utilized to calculate the absorbance and excitation energy of DNBT, DNAF, and DNTO, as well as characterization for their crystal structure, electronic structure, molecular orbitals, and so forth, synchronously. In this work, the absorbance anisotropy of DNBT and DNTO is stronger than that of DNAF. The absorbance for each of the (0,0,1) crystal planes in the three compounds is greater than that of the other two crystal planes. Moreover, DNBT has the maximum absorbance on the (0,0,1) crystal plane. The N-N-H from DNBT and N-O-N from DNTO and DNAF are responsible for these results, while N=N in DNAF weakens the performance of N-O-N. UV-vis spectra show that the maximum absorption wavelengths λmax for DNBT, DNAF, and DNTO are 225, 228, and 201 nm, respectively. The number of five-membered rings and the coplanarity of groups in the intermolecular non-conjugation interaction potentially improve this ability due to the results from the crystal diffraction analysis. In addition, the polarization rate DNBT > DNTO > DNAF based on the molecular orbital analysis and the electrostatic potential calculation implies that the excitation energy of DNBT is less than DNTO, and the excitation energy of DNTO is less than DNAF. This work is beneficial to the expansion of energetic materials into the optical field and the accelerated application process of the related industry.

Abstract
Organic compounds having significant nonlinear optical (NLO) applications are being employed in the optoelectronics field. In the current work, a series of non-fullerene acceptor (NFA) based compounds are designed by modifying the acceptors with different substituents using DTS(FBTTh 2 ) 2 R1 as a reference compound. To study the NLO responses to the tuning of various acceptors, DFT and TD-DFT based parameters were calculated at the M06 level along with the 6-31G(d,p) basis set. The designed compounds (MSTD2-MSTD7) showed smaller values of the energy gap in comparison to the reference compound. The energy gaps of the title compounds were linked to global reactivity insights; MSTD7 provided a lower band gap, with smaller and larger quantities for hardness and softness characteristics, respectively. Further, UV-vis analyses were performed for all of the designed compounds, displaying wavelengths red-shifted from that of DTS(FBTTh 2 ) 2 R1 . The intraelectron transfer (ICT) process and stability of the title compounds were explored via frontier molecular orbital (FMO) and natural bond orbital (NBO) studies, respectively. Out of all the designed compounds, the highest value of linear polarizability ⟨α⟩ of 3.485 × 10-22 esu, first hyperpolarizability (βtotal) of 13.44 × 10-27 esu and second-order hyperpolarizability ⟨γ⟩ of 3.66 × 10-31 esu were exhibited by MSTD7. In short, all of the designed compounds exhibited promising NLO properties because of their low charge transport resistance. These NLO properties may be useful for experimental researchers to uncover NLO materials for modern applications.

Abstract
The current research presents the synthesis of novel salicylaldehyde thiosemicarbazones (1-6) and their spectroscopic characterization employing UV-visible, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and NMR techniques. Experimental results are compared and validated with the results obtained theoretically by employing density functional theory at the M06 level with the 6-311G (d,p) basis set. Further, various parameters [natural bond orbital (NBO)], linear and nonlinear optical (NLO) properties, and global reactivity parameters (GRPs) are computationally calculated. The NBO approach has confirmed the stability of compounds on account of charge delocalization and hyper conjugative interaction network. Frontier molecular orbital analysis has explained the charge transfer and chemical reactivity capability, while GRPs have led to the analysis of kinetic stability of the studied molecules. Further, the probability of being NLO-active has been theoretically proved by the HOMO/LUMO energy difference (4.133-4.186 eV) and β values (192.778-501.709 a.u). These findings suggest that the studied compounds possess potential NLO applications as they have shown larger NLO values in comparison with that of the urea molecule, and such distinct properties prove their technological importance.

Abstract
Compounds having nonlinear optical (NLO) characteristics have been proved to have a significant role in many academic and industrial areas; particularly, their leading role in surface interfaces, solid physics, materials, medicine, chemical dynamics, nuclear science, and biophysics is worth mentioning. In the present study, novel peptoids (1-4) were prepared in good yields via Ugi four-component reaction (Ugi-4CR). In addition to synthetic studies, computational calculations were executed to estimate the molecular electrostatic potential, natural bond orbital (NBO), frontier molecular orbital analysis, and NLO properties. The NBO analysis confirmed the stability of studied systems owing to containing intramolecular hydrogen bonding and hyperconjugative interactions. NLO analysis showed that investigated molecules hold noteworthy NLO response as compared to standard compounds that show potential for technology-related applications.

Abstract
In this study, seven derivatives of salicylaldehyde thiosemicarbazones (1-7) were synthesized by refluxing substituted thiosemicarbazide and salicylaldehyde in an ethanol solvent. Different spectral techniques (UV-vis, IR, and NMR) were used to analyze the prepared compounds (1-7). Accompanied by the experimental study, quantum chemical studies were also carried out at the M06/6-311G(d,p) level. A comparative analysis of the UV-visible spectra and vibrational frequencies between computational and experimental findings was also performed. These comparative data disclosed that both studies were observed to be in excellent agreement. Furthermore, natural bond orbital investigations revealed that nonbonding transitions were significant for the stability of prepared molecules. In addition, frontier molecular orbital (FMO) findings described that a promising charge transfer phenomenon was found in 1-7. The energies of FMOs were further used to determine global reactivity parameters (GRPs). These GRP factors revealed that all synthesized compounds (1-7) contain a greater hardness value (η = 2.1 eV) and a lower softness value (σ = 0.24 eV), which indicated that these compounds were less reactive and more stable. Nonlinear optical (NLO) evaluation displayed that compound 5 consisted of greater values of linear polarizability ⟨α⟩ and third-order polarizability ⟨γ⟩ of 324.93 and 1.69 × 105 a.u., respectively, while compound 3 exhibited a larger value of second-order polarizability (βtotal) of 508.41 a.u. The NLO behavior of these prepared compounds may be significant for the hi-tech NLO applications.

Abstract
Materials with nonlinear optical (NLO) properties have significant applications in different fields, including nuclear science, biophysics, medicine, chemical dynamics, solid physics, materials science and surface interface applications. Quinoline and carbazole, owing to their electron-deficient and electron-rich character respectively, play a role in charge transfer applications in optoelectronics. Therefore, an attempt has been made herein to explore quinoline–carbazole based novel materials with highly nonlinear optical properties. Structural tailoring has been made at the donor and acceptor units of two recently synthesized quinoline–carbazole molecules (Q1, Q2) and acceptor–donor–π–acceptor (A–D–π–A) and donor–acceptor–donor–π–acceptor (D–A–D–π–A) type novel molecules Q1D1–Q1D3 and Q2D2–Q2D3 have been quantum chemically designed, respectively. Density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) computations are performed to process the impact of acceptor and donor units on photophysical, electronic and NLO properties of selected molecules. The λmax values (321 and 319 nm) for Q1 and Q2 in DSMO were in good agreement with the experimental values (326 and 323 nm). The largest shift in absorption maximum is displayed by Q1D2 (436 nm). The designed compounds (Q1D3–Q2D3) express absorption spectra with an increased border and with a reduced band gap compared to the parent compounds (Q1 and Q2). Natural bond orbital (NBO) investigations showed that the extended hyper conjugation and strong intramolecular interaction play significant roles in stabilising these systems. All molecules expressed significant NLO responses. A large value of βtot was elevated in Q1D2 (23 885.90 a.u.). This theoretical framework reveals the NLO response properties of novel quinoline–carbazole derivatives that can be significant for their use in advanced applications. Materials with nonlinear optical properties have significant applications in nuclear science, biophysics, medicine, chemical dynamics, solid physics & materials science. We show how π bridges, donors & acceptors can be reconfigured to improve optical properties.![]()

Abstract
In this work, we report the efficient synthesis of novel (hydroxybenzoyl)pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine heterocycle derivatives: 6-(2-hydroxy-5-methylbenzoyl)-1-methylpyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dione (6a), 6-(5-fluoro-2-hydroxybenzoyl)-1-methylpyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dione (6b), 6-(5-ethyl-2-hydroxybenzoyl)-1-methylpyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dione (6c) and 6-(2-hydroxy-5-isopropylbenzoyl)-1-methylpyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dione (6d). The chemical structures of the title compounds were ascertained by spectral techniques including 1H, 13C NMR, UV-visible and FT-IR spectroscopy as well as single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Additionally, density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent (TD-DFT) computation were adopted to analyze the electronic structures of 6a-d. Compounds 6a-d were computed in the ground state for FT-IR spectroscopic and natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis by DFT/B3LYP with the 6-311+G(d,p) basis set. UV-vis spectroscopic and HOMO and LUMO energy values for 6a-d were determined via TD-DFT/B3LYP with the 6-311+G(d,p) basis set. The optimized geometric parameters, UV-vis findings, and vibrational frequencies indicate good consistency with the experimental data. NBO analysis was conducted to explore the interactions and charge transfer among different orbitals in the title compounds. The HOMO and LUMO band gap (ΔE) values for 6a-d were found to be 3.93, 3.91, 4.10 and 3.91 eV, respectively. Molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) analysis explored the reactivity of the title compounds by predicting their nucleophilic as well as electrophilic sites.

Abstract
Pyrazoline are widely being studied due to their potential applications in chemical field. Herein, five pyrazolines compounds were synthesized and characterized spectroscopically using nuclear magnetic resonance techniques (1H NMR &13C NMR) to determine the structures of molecules along-with UV-Visible and infrared (FT-IR) studies for additional spectroscopic support in characterization of entitle synthesized molecules. Unit cells, specific space groups, bond lengths, bond angles and hydrogen bonding interactions were determined by the x-ray diffraction studies. Further, computational study of compounds with B3LYP/6-311 + G(d,p) level were carried out to explore optimized geometry, spectroscopic data for FT-IR, frontier molecular orbitals (FMOs) and non-linear optical (NLO) parameters. While, UV-Vis spectral were performed by TD-DFT/B3LYP/6-311 + G(d,p) level. The experimental results of spectroscopic and single crystal studies were compared and found in good agreement with the computational. The global reactivity parameters have been calculated with the help of the energy of FMOs. The order for the total first and second order hyperpolarizabilities of 1-5 is found in the following orders: 1 > 4 > 3 > 5 > 2 and 1 > 4 > 5 > 2 > 3 respectively. Overall, greater NLO response than urea molecule prove that investigated molecules are excellent candidate for NLO applications.
