Chemical synthesis, in vitro biological evaluation and theoretical investigations of transition metal complexes derived from 2-(((5-mercapto-1H-pyrrol-2-yl)imino) methyl)6-methoxyphenol

Pharmaceutical manifestation of Knoevenagel condensed metal (II) complexes through virtual, in vitro and in vivo assessments

Sulphur containing compounds possess a great deal of interest due to wide range of beneficial activities towards biotic species. This work also deals with the study of biological examination of newly synthesized sulphur containing Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes derived from (E)-4-(phenylimino)-3-((E)-1-(phenylimino)ethyl)pent-2-ene-1-thiol Schiff bases. Moreover, the DNA nuclease efficiency of the synthesized metal complexes is studied by UV absorption studies, Fluorescence studies, Viscosity and CV titrations which confirm the intercalative mode of binding. Pharmacokinetic studies and drug like activity of these compounds are screened with the help of SWISS ADME online freeware. Their morphological nature is corroborated by various spectral techniques. Optimized geometry and biologically accessible nature of the synthesized compounds are investigated by Gaussian 09 W software. Interestingly, molecular docking studies are carried out against cancer DNA and 6J10 cancer cell. Anti-inflammatory and in vitro antioxidant activities have been studied to validate the theoretical prediction. Based on these preliminary pharmacological activities, the in vitro cytotoxicity and in vivo antitumor activities are examined using MCF-7, HeLa, Hep-2, HepG-2 and Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) cell lines. All the above examinations reveal that the nitro substituted transition metal complexes possess higher biological bustle.

2-methoxy-4-(((5-nitropyridin-2-yl)imino)methyl)phenol Schiff base ligand and its Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes: synthesis, characterization and biological investigations

In this current work we have prepared a Schiff base ligand, (HL) derived from 5- nitropyridine-2-amine with 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde and its Cu(II), and Zn(II) in 2:1 stoichiometric ratio (2HL:M). The formation of the ligand and the metal complexes were evaluated by means of MS, FT-IR, UV-Visible, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and thermogravimetric methods. The free radical scavenging activity of compounds was evaluated through a sequence of in vitro assays viz., DPPH, ABTS and Superoxide where BHA was used as a positive controller. In vitro α-glucosidase inhibitory activities showed that complexes had considerable inhibitory potential when compared to the ligand.

Schiff bases and their metal complexes with biologically compatible metal ions; biological importance, recent trends and future hopes

Schiff bases are in the field of medicinal and material chemistry for a long time. There are several advancements from time to time towards facile synthesis and potential applications. As medicines they have been applied as organic molecules as well as their metal complexes. The activities of metal complexes have been found to increase due to increase lipophilicity in comparison to the corresponding free ligand. Besides simple coordination compounds they have been applied as ionic liquid (IL)- supported and IL-tagged species with far enhanced efficiency. Among metal complexes recent advancement deals with photodynamic therapy to treat a number of tumors with fewer side effects. Schiff bases are efficient ligands and their complexes with almost all metal ions are reported. This mini-review article deals with complexes of Schiff bases with biologically compatible metal ions, Co(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Pd(II), Ag(I), Pt(II) and their potential uses to combat cancerous cells. Strong hopes are associated with photodynamic therapy and IL-tagged and IL-supported Schiff bases and their complexes.
