Abstract
Flunitrazepam, as an emerging new psychoactive substance classified as a third-generation drug that is more harmful and camouflaged, is gradually proliferating globally. Maliciously used as a criminal tool in homicide and rape cases, it has already caused serious harm to public safety and social stability. Owing to its special molecular structure, low concentration level and rapid metabolic process in the human body, accurate detection of flunitrazepam remains a major challenge, especially for real sample and on-site detection. In this paper, a lanthanide MOF (Eu-MOF) based on bi-ligand was constructed as a luminescence probe and used for the first time to detect trace amounts of flunitrazepam. The 'antenna effect' promotes strong luminescence of Eu-MOF, while the lower LUMO orbital energy level of flunitrazepam allows it to accept electrons from the electron donor leading to quenching of Eu-MOF luminescence. The probe has a high sensitivity and can detect flunitrazepam in the range of 0-800 μM with a detection limit as low as 73 nM. Moreover, flunitrazepam was detected in urine from real samples as well as in a variety of beverages to further validate its accuracy and practicality. The reported Eu-MOF represents one of the pioneering luminescence probes for the detection of flunitrazepam, which offers great promise for the on-site or on-line analysis of flunitrazepam.

Abstract
Magnesium oxide nanoparticles (MgO NPs) have gained significant importance in biomedicine and variety of nanotechnology-based materials used in the agriculture and biomedical industries. However, the release of different nanowastes in the water ecosystem becomes a serious concern. Therefore, this study was executed to evaluate the toxic impacts of MgO NPs on grass carp. A total of 60 grass carp were randomly divided in three groups (G0, G1, and G2). Fish reared in group G0 were kept as control while fish of groups G1 and G2 were exposed to 0.5 mg/L and 0.7 mg/L MgO NPs, respectively, mixed in water for 21 days. The 96h median lethal concentration (LC50) of MgO NPs was found to be 4.5 mg/L. Evaluation of oxidative stress biomarkers, antioxidant enzymes, DNA damage in different visceral organs and the presence of micronuclei in erythrocytes were determined on days 7, 14, and 21 of the trial. Results revealed dose- and time-dependent significantly increased values of reactive oxygen species, lipid peroxidation product, DNA damage in multiple visceral organs and formation of micronuclei in the erythrocytes of treated fish (0.7 mg/L). The results on antioxidant profile exhibited significantly lower amounts of total proteins, catalase, superoxide dismutase, and peroxidase in visceral organs of the fish exposed to MgO NPs (0.5 and 0.7 mg/L) at day 21 of trial compared to control group. In conclusion, it has been recorded that MgO NPs severely influence the normal physiological functions of the grass carp even at low doses.

Abstract
Excess reactive oxide species (ROS) is a direct factor in myocardial injury death, thus anti-oxidant therapy is a necessary measure to prevent rapid death of cardiomyocyte cell. Cysteine (Cys) is a potent antioxidant but easily become instability because of the hyperactivity. Therefore, in order to protect the the stability of Cys, we according to the mitochondria are the main sites of ROS production, utilized the loading and ROS scavenging capacity of mesoporous polydopamine (mPDA) constructed a nanosystem targeting mitochondria with effectively ROS elimination capability by loading cysteine (Cys-mPDA@TPP). The mesoporous structure of mPDA effectively inhibited the advance reaction and hyperactivity of Cys, thus effectively improving its stability that reached the double-collaborative treatment excess ROS. In particular, Cys-mPDA@TPP achieved directly reacting with ROS in mitochondria under the targeting of triphenylphosphine (TPP), not only enhancing the elimination efficiency of ROS, but also preventing mitochondrial dysfunction of monocyte-macrophage. Furthermore, with double-collaborative ROS elimination, Cys-mPDA@TPP effectively prevent the damage of cardiomyocyte cell through inhibiting macrophage inflammatory response. Therefore, this study provides a new therapeutic strategy for myocardial inflammatory injury.

Abstract
Gastrointestinal (GI) cancer is a major health problem worldwide, and current diagnostic and therapeutic approaches are often inadequate. Various metallic nanoparticles (MNPs) have been widely studied for several biomedical applications, including cancer. They may potentially overcome the challenges associated with conventional chemotherapy and significantly impact the overall survival of GI cancer patients. Functionalized MNPs with targeted ligands provide more efficient localization of tumor energy deposition, better solubility and stability, and specific targeting properties. In addition to enhanced therapeutic efficacy, MNPs are also a diagnostic tool for molecular imaging of malignant lesions, enabling non-invasive imaging or detection of tumor-specific or tumor-associated antigens. MNP-based therapeutic systems enable simultaneous stability and solubility of encapsulated drugs and regulate the delivery of therapeutic agents directly to tumor cells, which improves therapeutic efficacy and minimizes drug toxicity and leakage into normal cells. However, metal nanoparticles have been shown to have a cytotoxic effect on cells in vitro. This can be a concern when using metal nanoparticles for cancer treatment, as they may also kill healthy cells in addition to cancer cells. In this review, we provide an overview of the current state of the field, including preparation methods of MNPs, clinical applications, and advances in their use in targeted GI cancer therapy, as well as the advantages and limitations of using metal nanoparticles for the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal cancer such as potential toxicity. We also discuss potential future directions and areas for further research, including the development of novel MNP-based approaches and the optimization of existing approaches.

Abstract
Analyzing the levels of anticancer medications in biological samples and body fluids reveals important details on the course and effects of chemotherapy. p (L-Cys)/graphitic-carbon nitride (g-C3N4)/GCE, a modified glassy carbon electrode, was created for the current study's electrochemical detection of methotrexate (MTX), a drug used to treat breast cancer, in pharmaceutical fluid samples. l-Cysteine was electro-polymerized on the surface of the g-C3N4/GCE after the g-C3N4 was first modified to prepare the p (L-Cys)/g-C3N4/GCE. Analyses of morphology and structure showed that well-crystalline p (L-Cys) on g-C3N4/GCE was successfully electropolymerized. Studying the electrochemical characteristics of p (L-Cys)/g-C3N4/GCE using CV and DPV techniques revealed a synergistic impact between g-C3N4 and l-cysteine that improved the stability and selectivity of the electrochemical oxidation of MTX while enhancing the electrochemical signal. Results showed that 7.5-780 μM was the linear range, and that 0.11841 μA/μM and 6 nM, respectively, were the sensitivity and limit of detection. The applicability of the suggested sensors was assessed using real pharmaceutical preparations, and the results showed that p (L-Cys)/g-C3N4/GCE had a high degree of precision. Five breast cancer patients who volunteered and provided prepared blood serum samples between the ages of 35 and 50 were used to examine the validity and accuracy of the proposed sensor in the current work for the determination of MTX. The results showed good recovery values (greater than 97.20%), appropriate accuracy (RSD less than 5.11%), and good agreement between the ELISA and DPV analysis results. These findings showed that p (L-Cys)/g-C3N4/GCE can be applied as a trustworthy MTX sensor for MTX level monitoring in blood samples and pharmaceutical samples.

Abstract
To reduce the progression of the viral process in patients infected with COVID-19, new treatments and drug active substances are needed. One of these drugs is Molnupiravir (MNP) which has a direct antiviral effect and has also proven to be highly effective in reducing the azopharyngeal SARS-CoV-2 infectious virus and viral RNA. Due to the importance and frequent use of this drug in the treatment of COVID-19, its accurate, quick, and cheap detection in pharmaceutical or biological samples is crucial. In this work, electrochemical behavior and sensitive voltammetric determination of MNP are described using a magnetite nanoparticle modified carbon paste electrode (Fe3O4@CPE) for the first time. Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) were characterized by recording their transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images, energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectra. Cyclic voltammetric measurements showed that MNP was irreversibly oxidized at Fe3O4@CPE at 760 mV in pH 2.0 Britton Robinson buffer solution (BRBS). The peak current of MNP was increased approximately threefold at Fe3O4@CPE compared to bare CPE due to a good electrocatalytic efficiency of Fe3O4 NPs. According to differential pulse voltammetric studies, the fabricated electrode exhibited a linear range (LR) between 0.25 and 750 µM with sensitivity and limit of detection (LOD) of 4591.0 µA mM-1 cm-2 and 0.05 µM, respectively. On the other hand, although lower sensitivity (327.3 µA mM-1 cm-2) was obtained from CV compared to DPV, a wider linear calibration curve between 0.25 and 1500 µM was obtained in CV. Studies performed in tablet samples confirmed that the Fe3O4@CPE exhibits high applicability for selective and accurate voltammetric determination of MNP in real samples.

Abstract
In the past several decades, significant efforts have been paid toward photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants in environmental research. During the past years, titanium dioxide nano-architectures (TiO2 NAs) have been widely used in water purification applications with photocatalytic degradation processes under Uv/Vis light illumination. Photocatalysis process with nano-architectural design of TiO2 is viewed as an efficient procedure for directly channeling solar energy into water treatment reactions. The considerable band-gap values and the subsequent short life time of photo-generated charge carriers are showed among the limitations of this approach. One of these effective efforts is the using of oxidation processes with advance semiconductor photocatalyst NAs for degradation the organic pollutants under UV/Vis irradiation. Among them, nano-architectural design of TiO2 photocatalyst (such as Janus, yolk-shell (Y@S), hollow microspheres (HMSs) and nano-belt) is an effective way to improve oxidation processes for increasing photocatalytic activity in water treatment applications. In the light of the above issues, this study tends to provide a critical overview of the used strategies for preparing TiO2 photocatalysts with desirable physicochemical properties like enhanced absorption of light, low density, high surface area, photo-stability, and charge-carrier behavior. Among the various nanoarchitectural design of TiO2, the Y@S and HMSs have created a great appeal given their considerable large surface area, low density, homogeneous catalytic environment, favorable light harvesting properties, and enhanced molecular diffusion kinetics of the particles. In this review was summarized the developments that have been made for nano-architectural design of TiO2 photocatalyst. Additional focus is placed on the realization of interfacial charge and the possibility of achieving charge carriers separation for these NAs as electron migration is the extremely important factor for increasing the photocatalytic activity.

Abstract
Diltiazem (DTZ) is one of the most important drugs in blood pressure that is used to treat cardiovascular diseases. With this overuse of this drug and its use for suicide, swelling and neck cramps and fever has made it important to measure it. So, this paper will give an account of modification of carbon paste electrode with the ternary-nanocomposite including reduced-graphene oxide (rGO), cadmium oxide and 1-ethyl 3- methyl imidazole chloride as ionic liquid for using the determination of DTZ in blood serum samples. Characterization of the synthesized rGO, cadmium oxide, and modified electrodes and their electrochemical performance were studied by, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and voltammetry technique. The improvement of the DTZ oxidation current by modified electrode originated from the increased electrode surface area. The optimized method was validated and the results showed that LOD = 3 nM and good linearity. Also, a linear concentration range of 0.01-150 μM with a LOD of 0.03 μM in presence methyldopa were achieved based on the electrochemical investigations. The prepared sensor showed good repeatability (RSD = 2.26%) and selectivity for DTZ determination in the real samples (relative recovery of 93-102%).

Abstract
The electronic conductive metal-organic frameworks (EC-MOFs) based on a single ligand are not suitable for the accurate detection of bisphenol A (BPA) due to the limitations of their electron-transfer-based sensing mechanism. To overcome this drawback, we developed EC-MOFs with novel dual-ligands, 2,3,6,7,10,11-hexahydroxy-sanya-phenyl (HHTP) and tetrahydroxy 1,4-quinone (THQ), and metal ions. A new class of 2D π-conjugation-based EC-MOFs (M-(HHTP)(THQ)) was synthesized by a self-assemble technique. Its best member (Cu-(HHTP)(THQ)) was selected and combined with reduced graphene (rGO) to form a Cu-(HHTP)(THQ)@rGO composite, which was thoroughly characterized by X-ray diffraction, field scanning electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. Cu-(HHTP)(THQ)@rGO was drop-cast onto a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) to obtain a sensor for BPA detection. Cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance tests were used to evaluate the electrode performance. The oxidation current of BPA on the Cu-(HHTP)(THQ)@rGO/GCE was substantially higher than on unmodified GCE, which could be explained by a synergy between Cu-(HHTP)(THQ) (which provided sensing and adsorption) and rGO (which provided fast electron conductivity and high surface area). Cu-(HHTP)(THQ)@rGO/GCE exhibited a linear detection range for 0.05–100 μmol·L−1 of BPA with 3.6 nmol·L−1 (S/N = 3) detection limit. We believe that our novel electrode and BPA sensing method extends the application perspectives of EC-MOFs in the electrocatalysis and sensing fields.

Abstract
This work presents an all-in-one origami paper-based electrochemical platform for simple and inexpensive l-cysteine (Cys) detection using Cys as a monomer for modifying electrode surfaces. The proposed method combines the steps of electropolymerization and detection into a single device to offer a highly convenient method for the end-user. In comparison, the sensitivity toward Cys detection is a significantly increased using this modified electrode. The developed device provided a linear concentration range of 10-800 μM with a limit of detection of 5.5 μM. For application, the device was successfully applied to detect Cys in different food products such as wheat flour, bread, and cake with satisfactory results, yielding excellent intra-day and inter-day relative standard deviations (1.5-4.9%) and recoveries (84.2-110.8%). This discovery is important from the viewpoint of the development of Cys detection in other applications in the future.

Abstract
Flunitrazepam is one of the frequently used hypnotic drugs to incapacitate victims for sexual assault. Appropriate diagnostic tools should be available to victims regarding the growing concern about "date-rape drugs" and their adverse impact on society. Miniaturized screen-printed potentiometric sensors offer crucial point-of-care devices that alleviate this serious problem. In this study, all solid-state screen-printed potentiometric flunitrazepam sensors have been designed. The paper device was printed with silver and carbon ink. Formation of an aqueous layer in the interface between carbon-conducting material and ion-sensing membrane nevertheless poses low reproducibility in the solid-contact electrodes. Accordingly, poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDT) nano-dispersion was applied as a conducting hydrophobic polymer on the electrode surface to curb water accumulation. Conditioning of ion-sensing membrane in the vicinity of reference membrane has been considered carefully using special protocol. Electrochemical characteristics of the proposed PEDT-based sensor were calculated and compared favorably to PEDT-free one. The miniaturized device was successfully used for the determination of flunitrazepam in carbonated soft drinks, energy drink, and malt beverage. Statistical comparison between the proposed sensor and official method revealed no significant difference. Nevertheless, the proposed sensor provides simple and user-friendly diagnostic tool with less equipment for on-site determination of flunitrazepam.

Abstract
A screen-printed electrode (SPE) is described modified with sulfur-tin oxide nanoparticles (S@SnO2NP) for the determination of entacapone (ENT) in the presence of other medicines against Parkinson's disease (PD). The S@SnO2NP was synthesized through the hydrothermal method and used in the modification of the SPE. The smart utilization of the S@SnO2NP and the SPE provided excellent properties such as high surface area and current density amplification by embedding an efficient sensing interface for highly selective electrochemical measurement. Under optimized experimental conditions, the anodic peak current related to the ENT oxidation onto the sensor surface at 0.46 V presented a linear response towards different ENT concentration sin the range 100 nM to 75 μM. The limit of detection (LOD) and electrochemical sensitivity were estimated to be 0.010 μM and 2.27 μA·μM-1·cm-2, respectively. The applicability of the sensor was evaluated during ENT determination in the presence of other conventional medicines againts, including levodopa (LD), carbidopa (CD), and pramipexole (PPX). The results of the analysis of human urine and pharmaceutical formulation as real samples using the developed sensor were in good agreement withre sults of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) as a standard method. These findings demonstrated that the strategy based on the SPE is a cost-effective platform creating a promising candidate for practical determination of ENT in routine clinical testing.Graphical abstract.
