Abstract
Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is one of the most aggressive form of breast cancer. It is characterized by the absence of estrogen, progesterone and human epidermal growth factor receptors. The main issue with TNBC is that it exhibits poor prognosis, high risk of relapse, short progression-free survival and low overall survival in patients. This is because the conventional therapy used for managing TNBC has issues pertaining to poor bioavailability, lower cellular uptake, increased off-target effects and development of resistance. To overcome such pitfalls, several other approaches are explored. In this context, the present manuscript showcases three of the most widely used approaches which are (i) nanotechnology-based approach; (ii) gene therapy approach and (iii) Phytochemical-based approach. The ultimate focus is to present and explain the insightful reports based on these approaches. Further, the review also expounds on the identified molecular targets and novel targeting ligands which are explored for managing TNBC effectively. Thus, in a nutshell, the review tries to highlight these existing treatment approaches which might inspire for future development of novel therapies with a potential of overshadowing TNBC.

Abstract
Capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) complemented with Taylor Dispersion Analysis-CE (TDA-CE) was developed to physicochemically characterize phthalocyanine-capped core/shell/shell quantum dots (QDs) at various pH and ionic strengths. An LED-induced fluorescence detector was used to specifically detect the QDs. The electropherograms and taylorgrams allowed calculating the phthalocyanine-QDs (Pc-QDs) ζ-potential and size, respectively, and determining the experimental conditions for colloidal stability. This methodology allowed evidencing either a colloidal stability or an aggregation state according to the background electrolytes nature. The calculated ζ-potential values of Pc-QDs decreased when ionic strength increased, being well correlated with the aggregation of the nanoconjugates at elevated salt concentrations. For the same reason, the hydrodynamic diameter of Pc-QDs increased with increasing background electrolyte ionic strength. The use of electrokinetic methodologies has provided insights into the colloidal stability of the photosensitizer-functionalized QDs in physiologically relevant solutions and, thereby, its usefulness for improving their design and applications for photodynamic therapy.

Singlet Oxygen Generating Properties of Different Sizes of Charged Graphene Quantum Dot Nanoconjugates with a Positively Charged Phthalocyanine. J Fluoresc 2018; 28:827-838. Abstract
Various sizes of graphene quantum dots (GQDs) denoted as GQD2, GQD6 and GQD10 (increasing in size) were non-covalently attached to 2,9,16,23-tetrakis[4-(N-methylpyridyloxy)]-phthalocyanine (ZnTPPcQ) to form GQDs-ZnTPPcQ nanoconjugates. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) showed that increasing sizes of GQDs decreases the atomic concentrations of oxygen, which leads to blue shift in spectra of the GQDs. Relative to Pcs alone (0.03), the presence of GQDs improved the singlet oxygen quantum yields with the following values: GQD2-ZnTPPcQ (0.17), GQD6-ZnTPPcQ (0.27) and GQD10-ZnTPPcQ (0.11). GQD2-ZnTPPcQ nanoconjugate system had the most ZnTPPcQ loading, but did not generate the most singlet oxygen species due to aggregation. This study shows that, the quantity of oxygen, size and quality of GQDs as well as amount of Pc loading are amongst the vital properties to consider when constructing GQD-nanoconjugate systems with optimal singlet oxygen quantum yields.

Abstract
Photodynamic therapy represents a very attractive therapeutic tool considered to be effective, minimally invasive and minimally toxic. However, conventional photodynamic therapy actually has two main constraints: the limited penetration depth of visible light needed for its activation, and the lack of selectivity. Considering this, this work reports the synthesis and evaluation of a novel nanoconjugate for imaging and selective photodynamic therapy against HER2-positive breast cancer, a particularly aggressive form of the disease. It was demonstrated that upon 975 nm near infrared light exposure, the red emission of the NaYF4:Yb,Er up-conversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) can be used for optical imaging and simultaneously represent the source for the excitation of a covalently bound zinc tetracarboxyphenoxy phthalocyanine (ZnPc), a photosensitizer that in turn transfers energy to ground state molecular oxygen to produce cytotoxic singlet oxygen. The specificity of our nanoconjugates was achieved by immunoconjugation with Trastuzumab (Tras), a specific monoclonal antibody for selective detection and treatment of HER2-overexpressing malignant breast cancer cells. Selective tracking of SKBR-3 HER2-positive cells was verified by confocal microscopy analysis, and the photodynamic therapy effect was considerably improved when Trastuzumab was incorporated into the nanoconjugate, the UCNPs-ZnPc-Tras being practically inert in the absence of infrared light exposure but reducing the HER2-positive cell viability up to 21% upon 5 min of the irradiation. This theranostic nanoconjugate represents a valuable alternative for HER2-positive breast cancer imaging and selective photodynamic therapy.

Abstract
Quantum dots (QDs), nano-carriers for drugs, can help realize the targeting of drugs, and improve the bioavailability of drugs in biological fields. And, a QD nano-carrier system for drugs has the potential to realize early detection, monitoring, and localized treatments of specific disease sites. In addition, QD nano-carrier systems for drugs can improve stability of drugs, lengthen circulation time in vivo, enhance targeted absorption, and improve the distribution and metabolism process of drugs in organization. So, the development of QD nano-carriers for drugs has become a hotspot in the fields of nano-drug research in recent years. In this paper, we review the advantages and applications of the QD nano-carriers for drugs in biological fields.

Abstract
The formation of nonluminescent aggregates of aluminium sulfonated phthalocyanine in complexes with CdSe/ZnS quantum dots causes a decrease of the intracomplex energy transfer efficiency with increasing phthalocyanine concentration. This was confirmed by steady-state absorption and photoluminescent spectroscopy. A corresponding physical model was developed that describes well the experimental data. The results can be used at designing of QD/molecule systems with the desired spatial arrangement for photodynamic therapy.
