Abstract
INTRODUCTION Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a common chronic disease with high rates of complications. Although there are successful treatments, rates of medication non-adherence remain high. This study aims to evaluate the impact of financial incentives on medication adherence in people living with T2DM. METHODS PubMed, Scopus, and Embase were searched via the terms "medication adherence," "diabetes," and "financial/economic incentive." Data on study characteristics, incentive type, and impact were extracted. The outcome measures included the proportion of days covered (PDC), mean possession ratio (MPR), percent adherent (PDC/MPR > 80%), and others. Two pooled Bayesian meta-analyses were conducted, analyzing the mean differences in PDC or MPR and the percentage of adherent patients (MPR > 80%). RESULTS The search yielded 8244 results with 126 full-text articles reviewed. In total, 22 studies that met the inclusion criteria were included. Among these 22 studies, 16 reported that financial incentives significantly increased medication adherence in all, four reported that they did not lead to significant changes in adherence, and two studies reported differing results per subgroup. For the pooled meta-analyses, the effect of financial incentives on percent adherent was significant in three studies (weighted Cohen's D: 0.03, P = 0.02) and in the ten studies assessed PDC/MPR, financial incentives significantly increased adherence (weighted Cohen's D: 0.02, 95%, P < 0.01). CONCLUSION This systematic review and meta-analysis demonstrated that financial incentives lead to statistically significant but possibly clinically irrelevant increases in medication adherence for patients living with T2DM.

Abstract
Purpose This study aims to explore and compare Chinese university students' preferences for various physical activity motivation programs. Patients and methods A cross-sectional study was conducted in China from February 25 to March 25, 2022. Participants anonymously completed an online questionnaire based on a DCE. A total of 1,358 university students participated in the survey. The conditional logit model (CLM), willingness to accept (WTA), and propensity score matching (PSM) were used to assess college students' preferences for different attributes and levels of physical activity incentive programs. Results Respondents identified the number of bonus, exercise time, and academic rewards as the three most significant attributes of the athletic incentive program. The importance of each attribute varied based on individual characteristics such as gender and BMI. In CLM, college students displayed a preference for a "¥4" bonus amount (OR: 2.04, 95% CI 1.95-2.13), "20 min" of exercise time (OR: 1.85, 95% CI 1.79-1.92), and "bonus points for comprehensive test scores" as academic rewards (OR: 1.33, 95% CI 1.28-1.37). According to the WTA results, college students were willing to accept the highest cost to obtain academic rewards tied to composite test scores. Conclusion The number of bonus, exercise time, and academic rewards emerge as the three most crucial attributes of physical activity incentive programs. Furthermore, college students with different characteristics exhibit heterogeneity in their preferences for such programs. These findings can guide the development of programs and policies aimed at motivating college students to engage in physical activities.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Community pharmacies currently offer Medicare Part D consultation services, often at no-cost. Despite facilitating plan-switching behavior, identifying potential cost-savings, and increasing medication adherence, patient uptake of these services remains low. OBJECTIVES To investigate patient preferences for specific service-offering attributes and marginal willingness-to-pay (mWTP) for an enhanced community pharmacy Medicare Part D consultation service. METHODS A discrete choice experiment (DCE) guided by the SERVQUAL framework was developed and administered using a national online survey panel. Study participants were English-speaking adults (≥65 years) residing in the United States enrolled in a Medicare Part D or Medicare Advantage plan and had filled a prescription at a community pharmacy within the last 12 months. An orthogonal design resulted in 120 paired-choice tasks distributed equally across 10 survey blocks. Data were analyzed using mixed logit and latent class models. RESULTS In total, 540 responses were collected, with the average age of respondents being 71 years. The majority of respondents were females (60%) and reported taking four or more prescription medication (51%). Service attribute levels with the highest utility were: 15-min intervention duration (0.392), discussion of services + a follow-up phone call (0.069), in-person at the pharmacy (0.328), provided by a pharmacist the patient knew (0.578), and no-cost (3.382). The attribute with the largest mWTP value was a service provided by a pharmacist the participant knew ($8.42). Latent class analysis revealed that patient preferences for service attributes significantly differed by gender and difficulty affording prescription medications. CONCLUSIONS Quantifying patient preference using discrete choice methodology provides pharmacies with information needed to design service offerings that balance patient preference and sustainability. Pharmacies may consider providing interventions at no-cost to subsets of patients placing high importance on a service cost attribute. Further, patient preference for 15-min interventions may inform Medicare Part D service delivery and facilitate service sustainability.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Patients with chronic conditions continue to face financial and system-related barriers to medication adherence. Pharmacy, provider, and payer-based financial and social incentive-based interventions may reduce these barriers and improve adherence. However, it is unclear how patient demographics and clinical characteristics influence the type of incentives preferred by patients. OBJECTIVES To examine individuals' preference for financial versus social incentives and to explore the association between patient demographic and clinical characteristics with preferences for financial or social incentives. METHODS A cross-sectional survey of a nationally representative sample of patients was conducted with Qualtrics panelists (N = 909). U.S. adults taking at least 1 prescription medication for a chronic condition were included. Survey items elicited participants' demographic characteristics, preference for financial or social incentives, self-reported medication adherence, number of prescribed medications, and number of chronic conditions. Bivariate associations between patient characteristics and incentive preferences were tested using t and chi-square tests. Logistic regression was performed to determine patient characteristics associated with participants' preference for incentives. RESULTS When compared with those who were adherent to medications, individuals who were nonadherent were less likely to prefer financial incentives over social incentives (adjusted odds ratio [OR] 0.55 [95% CI 0.31-0.98]). Patient income, sex, and ethnicity were also associated with preferences for financial incentives. Those earning less than $50,000 per year were less likely to prefer financial incentives compared with social incentives (adjusted OR 0.44 [0.24-0.79]). Females were more likely to prefer financial incentives (adjusted OR 1.98 [1.16-3.37]). Hispanic/Latinos were less likely to prefer financial incentives compared to non-Hispanics/non-Latinos (adjusted OR 0.51 [0.29-0.89]). CONCLUSION Preferences for medication adherence incentives differed on the basis of adherence status and patients' demographic characteristics. Findings have implications for how incentive-based interventions can be structured to target certain patient groups.

Abstract
Background: Nowadays, mental health problems have become a major concern affecting economic and social development, with severe mental health disorders being the top priority. In 2013, Beijing began to implement the Community Free-Medication Service policy (CFMS). This article aims to evaluate the effect of the policy on medication adherence. Methods: In this study, multi-stage sampling was used to select representative patients as samples. Some of the baseline data were obtained by consulting the archives, and information about patient medication adherence measured by Brooks Medication Adherence Scale was obtained through face-to-face interviews. Logistic regression was used to examine the impact of the policy. Results: Policy participation had a significant positive impact on medication adherence (OR = 1.557). The effect of policy participation on medication adherence in the Medication-only mode and Subsidy-only mode were highly significant, but it was not significant in the Mixed mode. Conclusion: This study found that the CFMS in Beijing as an intervention is effective in improving the medication adherence of community patients. However, the impact of the policy is not consistent among service modes. Reinforcement magnitude and frequency should be considered when designing reinforcement interventions.
