Abstract
The concentration of dopamine (DA) and tyrosine (Tyr) reflects the condition of patients with Parkinson's disease, whereas moderate paracetamol (PA) can help relieve their pain. Therefore, real-time measurements of these bioanalytes have important clinical implications for patients with Parkinson's disease. However, previous sensors suffer from either limited sensitivity or complex fabrication and integration processes. This work introduces a simple and cost-effective method to prepare high-quality, flexible titanium dioxide (TiO2) thin films with highly reactive (001)-facets. The as-fabricated TiO2 film supported by a carbon cloth electrode (i.e., TiO2-CC) allows excellent electrochemical specificity and sensitivity to DA (1.390 µA µM-1 cm-2), Tyr (0.126 µA µM-1 cm-2), and PA (0.0841 µA µM-1 cm-2). More importantly, accurate DA concentration in varied pH conditions can be obtained by decoupling them within a single differential pulse voltammetry measurement without additional sensing units. The TiO2-CC electrochemical sensor can be integrated into a smart diaper to detect the trace amount of DA or an integrated skin-interfaced patch with microfluidic sampling and wireless transmission units for real-time detection of the sweat Try and PA concentration. The wearable sensor based on TiO2-CC prepared by facile manufacturing methods holds great potential in the daily health monitoring and care of patients with neurological disorders.

Abstract
The integration of conducting polymers (CPs) with metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) has arisen as a dynamic and innovative approach to overcome some intrinsic limitations of both materials, representing a transformative method to address the pressing need for high-performance environmental monitoring tools. MOFs, with their intricate structures and versatile functional groups, provide tuneable porosity and an extensive surface area, facilitating the selective adsorption of target analytes. Conversely, CPs, characterized by their exceptional electrical conductivity and redox properties, serve as proficient signal transducers. By combining these two materials, a novel class of hybrid materials emerges, capitalizing on the unique attributes of both components. These MOF/CP hybrids exhibit heightened sensitivity, selectivity, and adaptability, making them primordial in detecting and quantifying environmental contaminants. This review examines the synergy between MOFs and CPs, highlighting recent advancements, challenges, and prospects, thus offering a promising solution for developing advanced functional materials with tailored properties and multifunctionality to be applied in electrochemical sensors for environmental monitoring.

Abstract
Self-standing electrodes with intrinsic conductivity and high electrocatalytic activity emerge as an alternative to existing sensors given their promising flexibility and wearability. Herein we demonstrate the fabrication of flexible sensors based on a hybrid nanocomposite of self-supported polypyrrole electrodes modified with copper nanoparticles (PPy-Cu) for the electrochemical detection of dopamine. The surface morphology and composition of flexible nanocomposite electrodes was studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), in combination with elemental mapping through energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Surface characterization by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) revealed that copper exists in both Cu(0) and Cu(II) forms. The incorporation of copper nanoparticles in the self-standing polypyrrole matrix introduced additional electroactive sites, further enhancing charge transfer, and improving the device's sensitivity. The sensing capability of self-standing PPy-Cu electrodes was evaluated using chronoamperometric measurements and optimized at various copper electrodeposition times. PPy-Cu 120s showed great performance for dopamine sensing with a low limit of detection of 1.19 μM and a linear range of 2.5 μM-250 μM. Additionally, the self-standing sensor is comprised entirely of Polypyrrole, a biocompatible polymer, and Copper nanoparticles, making it sustainable and environmentally friendly. These encouraging results pave the way for the development of next-generation flexible sensors for the detection of neurotransmitters and environmentally relevant analytes.

Abstract
Neurological diseases are the foremost cause of disability and the second leading cause of death worldwide. Owing to the special microenvironment of neural tissues and biological characteristics of neural cells, a considerable number of neurological disorders are currently incurable. In the past few years, the development of nanoplatforms based on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) has broadened opportunities for offering sensitive diagnosis/monitoring and effective therapy of neurology-related diseases. In this article, the obstacles for neurotherapeutics, including delayed diagnosis and misdiagnosis, the existence of blood brain barrier (BBB), off-target treatment, irrepressible inflammatory storm/oxidative stress, and irreversible nerve cell death are summarized. Correspondingly, MOFs-based diagnostic/monitoring strategies such as neuroimaging and biosensors (electrochemistry, fluorometry, colorimetry, electrochemiluminescence, etc.) and MOFs-based therapeutic strategies including higher BBB permeability, targeting specific lesion sites, attenuation of neuroinflammation/oxidative stress as well as regeneration of nerve cells, are extensively highlighted for the management of neurological diseases. Finally, the challenges of the present research from perspective of clinical translation are discussed, hoping to facilitate interdisciplinary studies at the intersections between MOFs-based nanoplatforms and neurotheranostics.

Abstract
A chemically modified carbon paste electrode, based on a CoMOF-graphene oxide (GO) and an ionic liquid of 1-methyl-3-butylimidazolium bromide (CoMOF-GO/1-M,3-BB/CPE), was fabricated for the simultaneous determination of dopamine (DA) and uric acid (UA). The prepared CoMOF/GO nanocomposite was characterized by field emission-scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), the X-ray diffraction (XRD) method, a N2 adsorption-desorption isotherm, and an energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS). The electrochemical sensor clearly illustrated catalytic activity towards the redox reaction of dopamine (DA), which can be authenticated by comparing the increased oxidation peak current with the bare carbon paste electrode. The CoMOF-GO/1-M,3-BB/CPE exhibits a wide linear response for DA in the concentration range of 0.1 to 300.0 µM, with a detection limit of 0.04 µM. The oxidation peaks' potential for DA and uric acid (UA) were separated well in the mixture containing the two compounds. This study demonstrated a simple and effective method for detecting DA and UA in real samples.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have significant advantages over other candidate classes of chemo-sensory materials owing to their extraordinary structural tunability and characteristics. MOF-based biosensing is a simple, and convenient method for identifying various species. Biomarkers are molecular or cellular processes that link environmental exposure to a health outcome. Biomarkers are important in understanding the links between environmental chemical exposure and the development of chronic diseases, as well as in identifying disease-prone subgroups. Until now, several species, including nanoparticles (NPs) and their nanocomposites, small molecules, and unique complex systems, have been used for the chemical sensing of biomarkers. Following the overview of the field, we discussed the various fabrication methods for MOFs development in this review. We provide a thorough overview of the previous five years of progress to broaden the scope of analytes for future research. Several enzymatic and non-enzymatic sensors are offered, together with a mandatory measuring method that includes detection range and dynamic range. In addition, we reviewed the comparison of enzymatic and non-enzymatic biosensors, inventive edges, and the difficulties that need to be solved. This work might open up new possibilities for material production, sensor development, medical diagnostics, and other sensing fields.

Abstract
Dopamine (DA) is an important neurotransmitter used for diagnosing various diseases from its abnormal concentrations in human fluids. Herein, an electrochemical sensor based on a composite of re-doped poly(N-methylaniline) (rePNMA) and modified multi-walled carbon nanotubes (fMWCNTs), termed fMWCNT-rePNMA, was developed to measure DA concentration. The successful modification of the fMWCNT surface was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Cyclic voltammetry (CV) displayed an excellent electrocatalytic activity of the fMWCNTs-rePNMA composite towards the oxidation of DA. The developed fMWCNTs-rePNMA composite demonstrated a broad linear range from 5 to 90 μmol L-1 with a low limit of detection (LOD) value of 2.23 μmol L-1, and a fast response with a high sensitivity of 251.5 nA μmol-1 L as determined from the calibration curve of the DA determination. In addition, the fMWCNTs-rePNMA composite selectively identified and quantified DA in the presence of ascorbic acid (AA) and uric acid (UA). Therefore, the fMWCNTs-rePNMA composite sensor shows potential to determine the level of DA in human urine.

Abstract
The development of sensitive and selective sensors using facile and low-cost methods for detecting neurotransmitter molecules is a critical factor in the health care system in regard to early diagnosis. In this research, an electrocatalyst derived from Mo,Zn dual-doped CuxO nanocrystals-based layer coating over one-dimensional copper nanowire arrays (Mo,Zn-CuxO/CuNWs) was successfully designed using a facile electrodeposition approach and used as an electrochemical sensor for non-enzymatic dopamine (DA) neurotransmitter detection. The synergistic effect caused by the dual-doping effect along with its excellent conductivity produced a large electroactive surface area and an improved hetero-charge transfer, thereby boosting DA sensing ability with a low limit detection of 0.32 µM, wide-range of detection (0.5 µM - 3.9 mM), long-term stability (5 weeks), and high selectivity in phosphate buffer solution (pH 7.4). Also, the sensor accurately determined DA in real blood serum-spiked solutions. The achieved results evidenced that the Mo,Zn-CuxO/CuNWs derived sensor is highly suitable for DA detection. Therefore, it also opens new windows for the development of low-cost, accurate, high-performance, and stable sensors for other neurotransmitter sensing for the purposes of better health care and early diagnosis.

Abstract
Developing a convenient and accurate method for the determination of acetaminophen (APAP) content is very vital, and ferrocene (Fc) based nanocomposites coupled with polyoxometalates (POMs) as electrochemical sensor is a promising approach to address the issues. Herein, a new ternary nanocomposite of Fc based carbon nanomaterials (Fc-rGO) with PMo12 (Fc-rGO/PMo12, rGFP-n) was successfully fabricated, and the electrochemical activities and APAP detection of rGFP-n as electro-active materials were systematically investigated, and results of the differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and electro-active surface area (0.0332 cm2) show that rGFP-1 is an excellent electrochemical sensor for APAP, and the proportion of Fc in rGFP-n can affect the charge transfer between APAP and rGFP. Under the optimal experimental conditions, rGFP-1 can be used to detect APAP with the limit of detection (LOD) of 13.27 nM (S/N = 3), the sensitivity of 36.81μA⋅μM-1cm-2, and the detection range from 1×10-6 to 1×10-3M, meeting the lowest plasma concentration of APAP (1.3 mM).

Abstract
Sensitive and selective determination of protein biomarkers with high accuracy often remains a great challenge due to their existence in the human body at an exceptionally low concentration level. Therefore, sensing mechanisms that are easy to use, simple, and capable of accurate quantification of analyte are still in development to detect biomarkers at a low concentration level. To meet this end, we demonstrated a methodology to detect thrombin in serum at low concentration levels using polypyrrole (PPy)-palladium (Pd)nanoparticle-based hybrid transducers using liposomes encapsulated redox marker as a label. The morphology of Ppy-Pd composites was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, and the hybrid structure provided excellent binding and detection platform for thrombin detection in both buffer and serum solutions. For quantitative measurement of thrombin in PBS and serum, the change in current was monitored using differential pulse voltammetry, and the calculated limit of quantification (LOQ) and limit of detection (LOD) for the linear segment (0.1-1000 nM of thrombin) were 1.1 pM and 0.3 pM, in serum, respectively. The sensors also exhibited good stability and excellent selectivity towards the detection of thrombin, and thus make it a strong candidate for adopting its sensing applications in biomarker detection technologies.

Abstract
This work focuses on an interdisciplinary issue in energy management and biosensing techniques. Aiming at enhancing the biosensing detection of dopamine at high ambient temperatures, we developed an innovative integration of phase-change microcapsules with a metal-organic framework (MOF) based on zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 to develop an intelligent electrochemical biosensing system with a thermal self-regulation function. We first fabricated a type of electroactive microcapsules containing a MOF-anchored polypyrrole/SiO2 double-layered shell and a phase-change material (PCM) core. The resultant microcapsules not only exhibit a regular spherical morphology with a layer-by-layer core-shell microstructure but also display an effective temperature-regulation capability to enhance enzymatic bioactivity under phase-change enthalpies of around 124.0 J·g-1 along with good thermal impact resistance and excellent thermal cycling stability for long-term use in thermal energy management. These electroactive microcapsules were then used to modify a working electrode together with laccase as a biocatalyst to construct a thermal self-regulatory biosensor. With a high sensitivity of 3.541 μA·L·μmol-1·cm-2 and a low detection limit of 0.0069 μmol·L-1 at 50 °C, this biosensor exhibits much better determination effectiveness toward dopamine at higher temperatures than conventional biosensors thanks to in situ thermal management derived from its PCM core in the electroactive microcapsules. This study offers a promising approach for development of intelligent thermal self-regulatory biosensors with an enhanced detection capability to identify various chemicals accurately in a wide range of applicable temperatures.

Abstract
A simple, cost-effective system was developed for dopamine (DA) detection using green synthesized 1-6 nm honey-based carbon quantum dots (H-CQDs) exhibiting bluish green fluorescence. The H-CQDs exhibited emission at 445 nm, with a quantum yield of ∼44%. The H-CQDs were used as a probe for electron transfer based DA detection and changes in H-CQD color in the presence of DA. The H-CQDs were formed with polar functional groups and were highly soluble in aqueous media. In the fluorometric mode, the proposed system demonstrated high specificity toward DA and effective limit of detection (LOD) values of 6, 8.5, and 8 nM in deionized (DI) water, male geriatric plasma, and female geriatric plasma, respectively, in the linear range 100 nM-1000 μM. In the colorimetric mode, the color changed within 5 min, and the LOD was 163 μM. A colorimetric sensor array system was used to precisely detect DA with a smartphone-integrated platform using an in house built imaging application and an analyzer app. Additionally, no additives were required, and the H-CQDs were not functionalized. More importantly, the H-CQDs were morphologically and analytically characterized before and after DA detection. Because the sensor array-based system allows high specificity DA detection in both DI water and geriatric plasma, it will play an important role in biomedical applications.

Abstract
In this review article were considered the works of electrochemical sensors modified with molybdenum oxide. The work of sensors based on molybdenum oxide was systematized, a comparison table was developed, the sensors were classified according to the purpose of use. Methods of molybdenum oxide synthesis used to modify the working electrode in electrochemical sensors were considered. The various methods have been used to synthesize molybdenum oxide, such as a thermal, hydrothermal, electrochemical, electric spark, pulsed laser method, acid condensation, electrophoretic precipitation, pulse potential precipitation. The main parameters of the molybdenum oxide modified sensors, such as the detection limit, linear range, response time, sensitivity, and other parameters were compared. As a result of studies, it was found that molybdenum oxide is selected as a modifying material in electrochemical sensors due to the unique physicochemical properties of molybdenum oxide, in particular because of mechanical strength, electrical conductivity, electro catalytic activity, crystallinity. The features of electrochemical biosensors coated with molybdenum oxide were described for the detection of important compounds in specific samples. Sensors based on molybdenum oxide have been used for detection of glucose, dopamine, ethanol, ascorbic acid, troponin-1, norepinephrine, procalcitonin, L-lactate, bromate, chlorate, E110, tartrazine, hydrochlorothiazide, human epidermal growth factor-2, lithium, sodium, potassium. This paper provides general summarized information about current aspects of research works related to electrochemical sensors based on molybdenum oxide.

Abstract
Developing new catalysts for highly efficient and selective oxidation of saturated C-H bonds is significant due to their thermodynamic strength. Via incorporation of PW12O403-, pyridine-2,5-dicarboxylic acids (pydc), and Fe(III) ions into one framework, a new polyoxometalate-based metal-organic framework, [HFe4O2(H2O)4(pydc)3PW12O40]·10.5H2O (FeW-PYDC), was successfully prepared by a hydrothermal method. Interestingly, FeW-PYDC features a three-dimensional porous structure with {Fe4O2} interconnecting with PW12O403- units. FeW-PYDC displayed excellent performance in the selective oxidation of C-H bonds of alkylbenzenes with high conversion (95.7%) and selectivity (96.6%). As an effective heterogeneous catalyst, FeW-PYDC demonstrates good reusability and structural stability.

Abstract
Electrochemical sensors appear as low-cost, rapid, easy to use, and in situ devices for determination of diverse analytes in a liquid solution. In that context, conducting polymers are much-explored sensor building materials because of their semiconductivity, structural versatility, multiple synthetic pathways, and stability in environmental conditions. In this state-of-the-art review, synthetic processes, morphological characterization, and nanostructure formation are analyzed for relevant literature about electrochemical sensors based on conducting polymers for the determination of molecules that (i) have a fundamental role in the human body function regulation, and (ii) are considered as water emergent pollutants. Special focus is put on the different types of micro- and nanostructures generated for the polymer itself or the combination with different materials in a composite, and how the rough morphology of the conducting polymers based electrochemical sensors affect their limit of detection. Polypyrroles, polyanilines, and polythiophenes appear as the most recurrent conducting polymers for the construction of electrochemical sensors. These conducting polymers are usually built starting from bifunctional precursor monomers resulting in linear and branched polymer structures; however, opportunities for sensitivity enhancement in electrochemical sensors have been recently reported by using conjugated microporous polymers synthesized from multifunctional monomers.

Abstract
Dopamine (DA) is an essential type of neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. DA neurons usually exist as nuclei which are mainly found in the ventral tegmental area (VTN) and substantia nigra pars compacta (SNc). Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, schizophrenia and other diseases are all related to the abnormal metabolism of DA. Compared with traditional DA detection methods such as spectrophotometry and electrophoresis, electrochemical sensing technology has high detection efficiency, high sensitivity, fast and convenient real-time detection, which is recognized as the most effective method for measuring neurotransmitters in vivo. The working electrode of an electrochemical sensor can be generally divided into the conventional electrode and the microelectrode according to its size. The microelectrode shows excellent properties such as high sensitivity, high temporal resolution, and high spatial resolution while detecting DA, which makes it possible to detect neurotransmitters in vivo. In order to further investigate the role of DA in regulating action, emotion, and cognition, and to further clarify the relationship between DA abnormalities or lack and neurological diseases such as Parkinson, more and more researchers apply microelectrode-based electrochemistry sensing technology to detect DA in vivo. This article reviews recent applications of microelectrodes and the latest researches in DA detection in vivo, focusing on the following three types of microelectrodes: (1) non-nanomaterial-modified carbon fiber microelectrodes (CFE); (2) nanomaterial-modified microelectrodes; (3) microelectrode arrays (MEA).

Abstract
Due to their large specific surface areas and porosity, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have found many applications in catalysis, gas separation, and gas storage. However, their use as electronic components such as supercapacitors is stunted due to their poor electrical conductivity. We report a remedy for this by combining the MOF structure with polypyrrole (PPy), a well-known conductive polymer. Three MOFs are studied for modification to this end: CPO-27-Ni and CPO-27-Co (M2DOBDC, M = Ni2+, Co2+, DOBDC = 2,5-dihydroxy-1,4-benzenedicarboxylate) and HKUST-1 (Cu3(BTC)2, BTC = 1,3,5 benzenetricarboxylate). The gravimetric capacitance of pure MOFs is boosted several orders of magnitude after reinforcement of PPy (e.g., from 0.679 to 185 F g-1 for HKUST-1 and PPy-HKUST-1, respectively), and is much higher than reported for pure PPy. In total, these PPy-d-MOFs exhibit specific capacitances up to 354 F g-1, retaining 70% of this value even after 2500 cycles. Among them, the highest capacitance is found for PPy-CPO-27-Ni (354 F g-1), followed by PPy-CPO-27-Co (263 F g-1) and PPy-HKUST-1 (185 F g-1). The maximum operating potential for these electrodes is 0.5 V, which is restricted by the contact of MOF with aqueous electrolyte and with extremely low PPy content. As a solution, higher PPy loading and rational adjustment of particle size and porosity of both MOF and PPy are recommended so that the MOF/electrolyte interface is limited, leading to more robust electrode. The work completed here describes a highly promising approach to tackling the electrically insulating nature of MOFs, paving the way for their use in electrochemical energy storage devices.
