Abstract
An efficient synthesis of α,β-dichlorinated ketones from α,β-dichlorinated Weinreb amides is described. Quenching with nonaqueous HCl avoided side reactions associated with typical work-up procedures. The amide reacted with various nucleophiles to give the corresponding ketones in high yields. A novel reactivity of the Weinreb amide is also discussed.

Abstract
A rhodium(III)-catalyzed aerobic oxidative cross-coupling of acrylamides with unactivated alkenes via vinylic C-H activation has been developed. The present cross-coupling reaction was examined with a variety of differently functionalized acrylamides and unactivated olefins. In these reactions, highly valuable amide-functionalized butadienes were prepared in good to excellent yields. This protocol was also compatible with Weinreb amides. A possible reaction mechanism involving the chelation-assisted vinylic C-H activation via a carboxylate-assisted deprotonation pathway is proposed.

Abstract
A reusable and highly enantioselective catalyst for the intramolecular cyclopropanation of various diazo ester and Weinreb amide derivatives was developed. The reactions catalyzed by a water-soluble Ru(II)-Amm-Pheox catalyst proceeded smoothly at room temperature, affording the corresponding bicyclic cyclopropane ring-fused lactones and lactams in high yields (up to 99%) with excellent enantioselectivities (up to 99% ee). After screening of various catalysts, the Ru(II)-Amm-Pheox complex having an ammonium group proved to be crucial for the intramolecular cyclopropanation reaction in a water/ether biphasic medium. The water-soluble catalyst could be reused at least six times with little loss in yield and enantioselectivity.

Abstract
A new efficient synthesis of sekothrixide was established on the basis of our developed regioselective coupling of epoxy sec-alcohol with Gilman reagent guided by a TMS group. The new synthetic route allowed an overall yield of 6.3% (26 steps) from optically active 3-silyloxy-2-methylaldehyde.

Abstract
Appropriately substituted 5-alkyn-1-ol systems bearing a nitrile moiety at the triple bond serve as versatile precursors to a variety of cyclooctenone derivatives via a "one-pot" base-catalyzed oxyanionic 6-exo dig cyclization/Claisen rearrangement sequence under microwave irradiation. It was found that the initially formed cyclic intermediate consists of a mixture of endo and exocyclic isomers, which appear to be in equilibrium under the reaction conditions. However, the only observed products from these reactions are α-cyano substituted cyclooctenones, derived from the exocyclic dihydrofuran intermediates.

Abstract
Racemic 4-demethylenglerin A (1'), a simplified analog of the guaiane-type sesquiterpene englerin A (1), has been synthesized. The cyclic hydrocarbon core structure was built through modified Metz approach using epoxynitrile cyclization and direct Aldol reaction to prepare the precursor of RCM. The primary cytotoxicity test summarized that C4 methyl has marked impacts on the bioactivity.
