Abstract
Estuarine-offshore sediments accumulate substantial particulate organic matter, containing organic sulfur as a key component. However, the distribution and sources of organic sulfur in such environments remain poorly understood. This study investigated organic sulfur in the Yangtze River Estuary and adjacent East China Sea. Dissolved organic sulfur varied from 0.65 to 1.99 μmol/L (molar S:C 0.006-0.018), while particulate organic sulfur ranged from 0.42 to 2.69 μmol/L (molar S:C 0.007-0.082). Sedimentary organic sulfur exhibited a similar molar S:C ratio (0.014-0.071) to particulate organic sulfur in bottom water, implying that particulate matter deposition is a potential source. Furthermore, sediments exposed to frequent hypoxia harbored significantly higher organic sulfur and S:C values compared to non-hypoxic areas. Laboratory incubation experiments revealed the underlying mechanism: sustained activity of sulfate-reducing bacteria in hypoxic sediments led to a substantial increase in sedimentary organic sulfur (from 15 to 53 μmol/g) within 600 days. This microbially driven sulfurization rendered over 90 % of the organic sulfur resistant to acid hydrolysis. Therefore, this study demonstrates that, alongside particle deposition, microbial sulfurization significantly contributes to organic sulfur enrichment and likely promotes organic matter preservation in estuarine-offshore sediments, particularly under hypoxic conditions. This finding advances our understanding of organic sulfur sources in these vital ecosystems.

Abstract
Yarrowia lipolytica N12 and A13 with high lipase activity obtained by mutagenesis were inoculated into sour meat, and their effects on physicochemical properties, microbial community succession, free amino acids, and volatile compounds of sour meat were investigated. Inoculation fermentation increased the contents of free amino acids observably, rapidly reduced pH, promoted the accumulation of total acids, decreased 2-thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) values. In addition, the addition of Y. lipolytica might contribute to the growth of lactic acid bacteria, Candida spp., and Debaryomyces udenii, which play an important role in production of volatile compounds. It was shown that inoculation promoted the production of esters, aldehydes, and alcohols, especially ethyl esters, giving sour meat a better meat flavor. Besides, it was found that Y. lipolytica A13 had better fermenting property. Sample of A13 group had higher contents of ethyl esters, free amino acids and dominant microorganisms. The results may help to provide new strains for sour meat fermentation.

Abstract
PURPOSE Benefits of docetaxel-based neoadjuvant chemohormonal therapy (NCHT) before radical prostatectomy (RP) remain largely unknown. We explored whether docetaxel-based NCHT would bring pathological benefits and improve biochemical progression-free survival (bPFS) over neoadjuvant hormonal therapy (NHT) in locally advanced prostate cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS A randomized trial was designed recruiting 141 locally advanced, high-risk prostate cancer patients who were randomly assigned at the ratio of 2:1 to the NCHT group (75 mg/m2 body surface area every 3 weeks plus androgen deprivation therapy for 6 cycles) and the NHT group (androgen deprivation therapy for 24 weeks). The primary end point was 3-year bPFS. Secondary end points were pathological response including pathological downstaging and minimal residual disease rates. RESULTS The NCHT group showed significant benefits in 3-year bPFS compared to the NHT group (29% vs 9.5%, P = .002). At a median follow-up of 53 months, the NCHT group achieved a significantly longer median bPFS time than the NHT group (17 months vs 14 months). No significant differences were found between the 2 groups in pathological downstaging and minimal residual disease rates. CONCLUSIONS NCHT plus RP achieved significant bPFS benefits when compared with NHT plus RP in high-risk, locally advanced prostate cancer. A larger cohort with longer follow-up duration is essential in further investigation.

Abstract
This study was designed to investigate the state quo of the appropriateness of alerts overrides of the medication-related clinical decision support system (MRCDSS) in China. The medication-related alerts in one hospital from Jan 2022 to Dec 2022 were acquired and sampled. Rates of alert overrides, appropriateness of alert generation and physicians' responses were observed. Total 14,612 medication-related alerts (≤ level 3) were recorded, of those, 12,659 (86.6%) alerts were overridden. The top 3 alert types were: drug and diagnosis contraindications (23.8%), drug and test value contraindications (23.3%), and compatibility issues (17.7%). Of all sampled 1,501 alerts, 80.2% of them were appropriately overridden by the physicians. The appropriate rate of alert generation was 57.9% and the inappropriate rate was 42.1%. The inappropriate rate of physicians' responses was 17.8%, and 2.0% physicians' responses were undetermined. A few medications accounted for over 10% of overrides, 88.3% of "overridden reasons" inputted by the physicians were meaningless characters or values, indicating an obvious "alert fatigue" in these physicians. Our results indicated that the overridden rate of MRCDSS in China was still high, and appropriateness of generation of alert was quite low. These data indicated that the MRCDSS currently using in China still needs constantly optimization and timely maintenance. Proper sensitivity to reduce triggering of useless alerts and generation of alert fatigue might play a vital role. We believed that these findings are helpful for better understanding the state quo of MRCDSS in China and providing useful insights for future developing and improving MRCDSS.

Abstract
Prostate cancer (PCa) has become a public health concern in elderly men due to an ever-increasing number of estimated cases. Unfortunately, the available treatments are unsatisfactory because of a lack of a durable response, especially in advanced disease states. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are lipid-bilayer encircled nanoscale vesicles that carry numerous biomolecules (e.g., nucleic acids, proteins, and lipids), mediating the transfer of information. The past decade has witnessed a wide range of EV applications in both diagnostics and therapeutics. First, EV-based non-invasive liquid biopsies provide biomarkers in various clinical scenarios to guide treatment; EVs can facilitate the grading and staging of patients for appropriate treatment selection. Second, EVs play a pivotal role in pathophysiological processes via intercellular communication. Targeting key molecules involved in EV-mediated tumor progression (e.g., proliferation, angiogenesis, metastasis, immune escape, and drug resistance) is a potential approach for curbing PCa. Third, EVs are promising drug carriers. Naïve EVs from various sources and engineered EV-based drug delivery systems have paved the way for the development of new treatment modalities. This review discusses the recent advancements in the application of EV therapies and highlights EV-based functional materials as novel interventions for PCa.

Abstract
Psoriasis is a chronic, recurrent, inflammatory dermatosis accompanied by excessive activation of dendritic cells (DCs), which are primarily responsible for initiating an immune response. The bromodomain and extraterminal domain (BET) family plays a pivotal role in the transcriptional regulation of inflammation and its inhibitors can downregulate DCs maturation and activation. Here we investigated the effect of NHWD-870, a potent BET inhibitor, on inflammation in an imiquimod (IMQ)-induced psoriasis-like mouse model and murine bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (BMDCs) stimulated by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and IMQ. Application of NHWD-870 significantly ameliorated IMQ-triggered skin inflammation in mice, and markers associated with DC maturation (CD40, CD80 and CD86) were decreased in skin lesions, spleen and lymph nodes. Additionally, NHWD-870 reduced LPS or IMQ induced DCs maturation and activation in vitro, with lower expression of inflammatory cytokines [interleukin (IL)-12, IL-23, tumor necrosis factor-α, IL-6, IL-1β, chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand (CXCL)9 and CXCL10]. In addition, we found that interferon regulatory factor 7 (IRF7) significantly increased during DCs maturation, and inhibition of IRF7 could impair BMDCs maturation and activation. What's more, IRF7 was highly expressed in both psoriatic patients and IMQ-induced psoriasis-like mice. Single-cell RNA sequencing of normal and psoriatic skin demonstrated that IRF7 expression was increased in DCs of psoriatic skin. While NHWD-870 could inhibit IRF7 and phosphorylated-IRF7 expression in vivo and in vitro. These results indicate that NHWD-870 suppresses the maturation and activation of DCs by decreasing IRF7 proteins which finally alleviates psoriasis-like skin lesions, and NHWD-870 may be a potent therapeutic drug for psoriasis.

Abstract
This paper presents a sponge-based electrochemical sensor for rapid, on-site collection and analysis of infectious viruses on solid surfaces. The device utilizes a conducting porous sponge modified with graphene, graphene oxide, and specific antibodies. The sponge serves as a hydrophilic porous electrode capable of liquid collection and electrochemical measurements. The device operation involves spraying an aqueous solution on a target surface, swiping the misted surface using the sponge, discharging an electrolyte solution with a simple finger press, and performing in situ incubation and electrochemical measurements. By leveraging the water-absorbing ability of the biofunctionalized conducting sponge, the sensor can effectively collect and quantify virus particles from the surface. The portability of the device is enhanced by introducing a push-release feature that dispenses the liquid electrolyte from a miniature reservoir onto the sensor surface. This reservoir has sharp edges to rupture a liquid sealing film with a finger press. The ability of the device to sample and quantify viral particles is demonstrated by using influenza A virus as the model. The sensor provided a calculated limit of detection of 0.4 TCID50/mL for H1N1 virus, along with a practical concentration range from 1-106 TCID50/mL. Additionally, it achieves a 15% collection efficiency from single-run swiping on a tabletop surface. This versatile device allows for convenient on-site virus detection within minutes, eliminating the need for sample pretreatment and simplifying the entire sample collecting and measuring process. This device presents significant potential for rapid virus detection on solid surfaces.

Abstract
Numerous studies have shown that geomagnetic activity (GMA) contributes to the development and escalation of cardiovascular disease (CVD), as well as increased morbidity and mortality. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms and approaches for understanding GMA remain unclear. This study aimed to investigate the impact of GMA on oxidative stress and inflammatory responses. Myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury (MI/RI) rat models were created under various geomagnetic field conditions. The range of cardiac function, markers of myocardial injury, inflammatory factors, and the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway were measured after the 24-h period. The findings showed that weak GMA significantly improved cardiac function in the MI/RI rat model and reduced the size of myocardial infarction and creatine kinase (CK) and lactic dehydrogenase (LDH) levels. Additionally, weak GMA enhanced superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and decreased malondialdehyde (MDA) content. Furthermore, weak GMA significantly reduced the levels of the myocardial inflammatory cytokines interleukin-1 (IL-1), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α). Conversely, the effects observed under severe GMA conditions were opposite to those observed under weak GMA. Western blot and qPCR analysis demonstrated that weak GMA led to a significant downregulation of TLR4, TRAF6, NF-κB, TNF-α, and MCP-1 in the MI/RI rat models. In contrast to weak GMA, severe GMA increased TLR4, TRAF6, NF-κB, and TNF-α expression. This study suggested that weak GMA had a limiting effect on MI/RI rat models, whereas severe GMA exacerbated injury in MI/RI rats. These effects were associated with oxidative stress and inflammatory responses and might potentially involve the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway.

Abstract
Unsaturated aliphatic aldehyde oxidation plays a significant role in the deep oxidation of fatty acids to produce volatile chemicals. Exposing the oxidation process of unsaturated aliphatic aldehydes is crucial to completely comprehend how food flavor forms. In this study, thermal desorption cryo-trapping in conjunction with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry was used to examine the volatile profile of (E)-4-decenal during heating, and 32 volatile compounds in all were detected and identified. Meanwhile, density functional theory (DFT) calculations were used, and 43 reactions were obtained in the 24 pathways, which were summarized into the peroxide reaction mechanism (ROOH), the peroxyl radical reaction mechanism (ROO·) and the alkoxy radical reaction mechanism (RO·). Moreover, the priority of these three oxidative mechanisms was the RO· mechanism > ROOH mechanism > ROO· mechanism. Furthermore, the DFT results and experimental results agreed well, and the oxidative mechanism of (E)-4-decenal was finally illuminated.

Abstract
To investigate extracellular vesicles (EVs) biomarkers for predicting lymph node invasion (LNI) in patients with high-risk prostate cancer (HRPCa), plasma and/or urine samples were prospectively collected from 45 patients with prostate cancer (PCa) and five with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Small RNA sequencing was performed to identify miRNAs in the EVs. All patients with PCa underwent radical prostatectomy and extended pelvic lymph node dissection. Differentially-expressed miRNAs were identified in patients with and without pathologically-verified LNI. The candidate miRNAs were validated in low-risk prostate cancer (LRPCa) and BPH. Four miRNA species (e.g. miR-126-3p) and three miRNA species (e.g. miR-27a-3p) were more abundant in urinary and plasma EVs, respectively, of patients with PCa. None of these miRNA species were shared between urinary and plasma EVs. miR-126-3p was significantly more abundant in patients with HR PCa with LNI than in those without (P = 0.018). miR-126-3p was significantly more abundant in the urinary EVs of patients with HRPCa than in those with LRPCa (P = 0.017) and BPH (P = 0.011). In conclusion, urinary EVs-derived miR-126-3p may serve as a good biomarker for predicting LNI in patients with HRPCa.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Fluorouracil (5-FU) might produce serious cardiac toxic reactions. miRNA-199a-5p is a miRNA primarily expressed in myocardial cells and has a protective effect on vascular endothelium. Under hypoxia stress, the expression level of miRNA-199a-5p was significantly downregulated and is closely related to cardiovascular events such as coronary heart disease, heart failure, and hypertension. We explored whether 5-FU activates the endoplasmic reticulum stress ATF6 pathway by regulating the expression of miRNA-199a-5p in cardiac toxicity. METHODS This project established a model of primary cardiomyocytes derived from neonatal rats and treated them with 5-FU in vitro. The expression of miRNA-199a-5p and its regulation were explored in vitro and in vivo. RESULTS 5-FU decreases the expression of miRNA-199a-5p in cardiomyocytes, activates the endoplasmic reticulum stress ATF6 pathway, and increases the expression of GRP78 and ATF6, affecting the function of cardiomyocytes, and induces cardiac toxicity. The rescue assay further confirmed that miRNA-199a-5p supplementation can reduce the cardiotoxicity caused by 5-FU, and its protective effect on cardiomyocytes depends on the downregulation of the endoplasmic reticulum ATF6 signaling pathway. CONCLUSIONS 5-FU can down-regulate expression of miRNA-199a-5p, then activate the endoplasmic reticulum stress ATF6 pathway, increase the expression of GRP78 and ATF6, affect the function of cardiomyocytes, and induce cardiac toxicity.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE [68Ga]Ga-PSMA PET imaging has been extensively utilized for the detection of biochemical recurrence (BCR) in prostate cancer. However, the detection rate declines to merely 10-40% when PSA levels are < 0.2 ng/mL employing short axial field-of-view (SAFOV) PET. Prior studies exhibited superior detection rates with total-body [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 PET compared to SAFOV [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 PET in BCR patients with PSA > 0.2 ng/mL. Nevertheless, the diagnostic utility of total-body [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 PET for BCR patients when PSA is < 0.2 ng/mL remains unclear. This study aimed to assess whether total-body [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT could improve the detection rate compared to SAFOV [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT in BCR patients with PSA < 0.2 ng/mL. METHODS Eighty BCR patients with PSA < 0.2 ng/mL underwent total-body [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT. These patients were matched by baseline qualities to another 80 patients who received SAFOV [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT. The detection rates of total-body [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT and SAFOV [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT were compared utilizing a chi-square test and stratified analysis. Image quality of total-body [68Ga]Ga-PSMA PET/CT and SAFOV [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT was assessed based on subjective scoring and objective parameters. The objective parameters measured were SUVmax, SUVmean, standard deviation (SD) of SUV, and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of liver and gluteus maximus. RESULTS The image quality of total-body [68Ga]Ga-PSMA PET/CT was superior to that of SAFOV [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT in both early and delayed scans. The detection rate of total-body [68Ga]Ga-PSMA PET/CT for BCR patients with PSA < 0.2 ng/mL was significantly higher than that of SAFOV [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT (73.75% vs. 43.75%, P < 0.001). Total-body [68Ga]Ga-PSMA PET/CT resulted in noteworthy modifications to the treatment regimen when contrasted with SAFOV [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT. CONCLUSIONS In BCR patients with PSA < 0.2 ng/mL, total-body [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT not only demonstrated a significantly higher detection rate compared to SAFOV [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT but also led to significant alterations in treatment regimens.

Abstract
Enhancing the low-potential capacity of anode materials is significant in boosting the operating voltage of full-cells and constructing high energy-density energy storage devices. Graphitic carbons exhibit outstanding low-potential potassium storage performance, but show a low K+ diffusion kinetics. Herein, in situ defect engineering in graphitic nanocarbon is achieved by an atomic self-activation strategy to boost the accessible low-voltage insertion. Graphitic carbon layers grow on nanoscale-nickel to form the graphitic nanosphere with short-range ordered microcrystalline due to nickel graphitization catalyst. Meanwhile, the widely distributed K+ in the precursor induces the activation of surrounding carbon atoms to in situ generate carbon vacancies as channels. The graphite microcrystals with defect channels realize reversible K+ intercalation at low-potential and accessible ion diffusion kinetics, contributing to high reversible capacity (209 mAh g-1 at 0.05 A g-1 under 0.8 V) and rate capacity (103.2 mAh g-1 at 1 A g-1). The full-cell with Prussian blue cathode and graphitic nanocarbon anode maintains an obvious working platform at ca. 3.0 V. This work provides a strategy for the in situ design of carbon anode materials and gives insights into the potassium storage mechanism at low-potential for high-performance full-cells.

Abstract
Environmental estrogen exposure has increased dramatically over the past 50 years. In particular, prenatal exposure to estrogen causes many congenital diseases, among which reproductive system development disorders are extremely serious. In this study, the molecular mechanism of hypospadias and the therapeutic effect of genistein (GEN) were investigated through in vivo models prepared by Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) exposure between 12 and 19 days of gestation. With increased DEHP concentrations, the incidence of hypospadias increased gradually. DEHP inhibited the key enzymes involved in steroid synthesis, resulting in decreasing testosterone synthesis. At the same time, DEHP increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) and produced inflammatory factors via NADPH oxidase-1 (NOX1) and NADPH oxidase-4 (NOX4) pathways. It also inhibited Steroid 5 α Reductase 2 (Srd5α2) and decreased dihydrotestosterone (DHT) synthesis. Additionally, DEHP inhibited the androgen receptor (AR), resulting in reduced DHT binding to the AR that ultimately retarded the development of the external reproductive system. GEN, a phytoestrogen, competes with DEHP for binding to estrogen receptor β (ERβ). This competition, along with GEN's antiestrogen and antioxidant properties, could potentially reverse impairments. The findings of this study provide valuable insights into the role of phytoestrogens in alleviating environmental estrogen-induced congenital diseases.

Abstract
Objective: To achieve automatic segmentation, quantification, and grading of different regions of leopard spots fundus (FT) using deep learning technology. The analysis includes exploring the correlation between novel quantitative indicators, leopard spot fundus grades, and various systemic and ocular parameters. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study. The data were sourced from the Beijing Eye Study, a population-based longitudinal study. In 2001, a group of individuals aged 40 and above were surveyed in five urban communities in Haidian District and three rural communities in Daxing District of Beijing. A follow-up was conducted in 2011. This study included individuals aged 50 and above who participated in the second 5-year follow-up in 2011, considering only the data from the right eye. Color fundus images centered on the macula of the right eye were input into the leopard spot segmentation model and macular detection network. Using the macular center as the origin, with inner circle diameters of 1 mm, 3 mm, and outer circle diameter of 6 mm, fine segmentation of the fundus was achieved. This allowed the calculation of the leopard spot density (FTD) and leopard spot grade for each region. Further analyses of the differences in ocular and systemic parameters among different regions' FTD and leopard spot grades were conducted. The participants were categorized into three refractive types based on equivalent spherical power (SE): myopia (SE<-0.25 D), emmetropia (-0.25 D≤SE≤0.25 D), and hyperopia (SE>0.25 D). Based on axial length, the participants were divided into groups with axial length<24 mm, 24-26 mm, and>26 mm for the analysis of different types of FTD. Statistical analyses were performed using one-way analysis of variance, Kruskal-Wallis test, Bonferroni test, and Spearman correlation analysis. Results: The study included 3 369 participants (3 369 eyes) with an average age of (63.9±10.6) years; among them, 1 886 were female (56.0%) and 1, 483 were male (64.0%). The overall FTD for all eyes was 0.060 (0.016, 0.163); inner circle FTD was 0.000 (0.000, 0.025); middle circle FTD was 0.030 (0.000, 0.130); outer circle FTD was 0.055 (0.009, 0.171). The results of the univariate analysis indicated that FTD in various regions was correlated with axial length (overall: r=0.38, P<0.001; inner circle: r=0.31, P<0.001; middle circle: r=0.36, P<0.001; outer circle: r=0.39, P<0.001), subfoveal choroidal thickness (SFCT) (overall: r=-0.69, P<0.001; inner circle: r=-0.57, P<0.001; middle circle: r=-0.68, P<0.001; outer circle: r=-0.72, P<0.001), age (overall: r=0.34, P<0.001; inner circle: r=0.30, P<0.001; middle circle: r=0.31, P<0.001; outer circle: r=0.35, P<0.001), gender (overall: r=-0.11, P<0.001; inner circle: r=-0.04, P<0.001; middle circle: r=-0.07, P<0.001; outer circle: r=-0.11, P<0.001), SE (overall: r=-0.20; P<0.001; inner circle: r=-0.19, P<0.001; middle circle: r=-0.20, P<0.001; outer circle: r=-0.20, P<0.001), uncorrected visual acuity (overall: r=-0.18, P<0.001; inner circle: r=-0.26, P<0.001; middle circle: r=-0.24, P<0.001; outer circle: r=-0.22, P<0.001), and body mass index (BMI) (overall: r=-0.11, P<0.001; inner circle: r=-0.13, P<0.001; middle circle: r=-0.14, P<0.001; outer circle: r=-0.13, P<0.001). The distribution of overall (H=56.76, P<0.001), inner circle (H=72.22, P<0.001), middle circle (H=75.83, P<0.001), and outer circle (H=70.34, P<0.001) FTD differed significantly among different refractive types. The distribution of overall (H=373.15, P<0.001), inner circle (H=367.67, P<0.001), middle circle (H=389.14, P<0.001), and outer circle (H=386.89, P<0.001) FTD differed significantly among different axial length groups. Furthermore, comparing various levels of FTD with systemic and ocular parameters, significant differences were found in axial length (F=142.85, P<0.001) and SFCT (F=530.46, P<0.001). Conclusions: The use of deep learning technology enables automatic segmentation and quantification of different regions of theFT, as well as preliminary grading. Different region FTD is significantly correlated with axial length, SFCT, and age. Individuals with older age, myopia, and longer axial length tend to have higher FTD and more advanced FT grades.

Abstract
Percutaneous thermotherapy, a minimally invasive operational procedure, is employed in the ablation of deep tumor lesions by means of target-delivering heat. Conventional thermal ablation methods, such as radiofrequency or microwave ablation, to a certain extent, are subjected to extended ablation time as well as biosafety risks of unwanted overheating. Given its effectiveness and safety, percutaneous thermotherapy gains a fresh perspective, thanks to magnetic hyperthermia. In this respect, an injectable- and magnetic-hydrogel-construct-based thermal ablation agent is likely to be a candidate for the aforementioned clinical translation. Adopting a simple and environment-friendly strategy, a magnetic colloidal hydrogel injection is introduced by a binary system comprising super-paramagnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles and gelatin nanoparticles. The colloidal hydrogel constructs, unlike conventional bulk hydrogel, can be easily extruded through a percutaneous needle and then self-heal in a reversible manner owing to the unique electrostatic cross-linking. The introduction of magnetic building blocks is exhibited with a rapid magnetothermal response to an alternating magnetic field. Such hydrogel injection is capable of generating heat without limitation of deep penetration. The materials achieve outstanding therapeutic results in mouse and rabbit models. These findings constitute a new class of locoregional interventional thermal therapies with minimal collateral damages.

Abstract
Tree bark is a useful bioindicator of atmospheric pollution. It is specially suitable for airborne perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) investigation due to persistence of ionic PFASs. The present work firstly systematically studied tree barks as a bioindicator of airborne PFASs. Comparison with the regular active and passive samplers found barks could produce long-term measurement of airborne PFASs, and could record the historical emission of PFASs with retrospective time frame as long as decades. Factors, e.g. tree type, trunk diameter, and sampling depth, can affect PFAS accumulation in barks, and these factors should be kept consistent during sampling. In a study area spatial distribution of airborne PFASs can be obtained by interpolation of bark results, and the concerned region can be located. Properties of the emission sources can be characterized, and the potential sources can be tracked based on the bark results. Their contributions can be further estimated by the source appointment strategies. In the economically and industrially developed study area of the present study, eight cities of southern Jiangsu Province of China, total ionic PFAS concentration of camphor bark samples collected in 34 sites was 0.44-359 ng/g dw (dry weight), dominated by perfluoroalkyl carboxylic acids (PFCAs). Two types of possible sources were characterized as with long-chained PFCAs and PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid) as the main components respectively. The sources were appointed as fluoropolymer manufacturing and textile industries, the important PFAS application fields, and their relative contribution was estimated as 32.5% and 67.5% respectively. The present study can provide useful advice to the method framework of using barks for long-term occurrence investigation, concerned region location, and emission source appointment of airborne PFASs in a study area. Based on the bark results, effective strategies can be further made for PFAS pollution elimination and risk control.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most common malignancies in men worldwide and has caused increasing clinical morbidity and mortality, making timely diagnosis and accurate staging crucial. The authors introduced a novel approach based on mass spectrometry for precise diagnosis and stratification of PCa to facilitate clinical decision-making. METHODS Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry analysis of trace blood samples was combined with machine learning algorithms to construct diagnostic and stratification models. A total of 367 subjects, comprising 181 with PCa and 186 with non-PCa were enrolled. Additional 60 subjects, comprising 30 with PCa and 30 with non-PCa were enrolled as an external cohort for validation. Subsequent metabolomic analysis was carried out using Autoflex MALDI-TOF, and the mass spectra were introduced into various algorithms to construct different models. RESULTS Serum metabolic fingerprints were successfully obtained from 181 patients with PCa and 186 patients with non-PCa. The diagnostic model based on the eight signals demonstrated a remarkable area under curve of 100% and was validated in the external cohort with the area under curve of 87.3%. Fifteen signals were selected for enrichment analysis, revealing the potential metabolic pathways that facilitate tumorigenesis. Furthermore, the stage prediction model with an overall accuracy of 85.9% precisely classified subjects with localized disease and those with metastasis. The risk stratification model, with an overall accuracy of 89.6%, precisely classified the subjects as low-risk and high-risk. CONCLUSIONS Our study facilitated the timely diagnosis and risk stratification of PCa and provided new insights into the underlying mechanisms of metabolic alterations in PCa.

Abstract
Oxidative stress-induced enteric neuropathy is an important factor in slow transit constipation (STC). Cistanche deserticola crude polysaccharides (CDCP) are natural antioxidants with various biological activities. We prepared CDCP through water-extract and alcohol-precipitation methods. The structural characteristics of CDCP were analyzed by infrared spectroscopy and methylation analysis. The results showed that CDCP was primarily composed of (1 → 4)-linked glucans with minor amounts of pectic polysaccharides. Different doses of CDCP (100, 200, and 400 mg/kg) were administered to loperamide-induced STC mice to explore the therapeutic effects of CDCP. Compared with the untreated group, CDCP treatment significantly improved constipation symptoms, relevant gut-regulating peptides levels, colonic pathological damage, and colonic myenteric nerons injury. CDCP enhanced the antioxidant capacity by decreasing Malondialdehyde (MDA) content, increasing Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) activity and Reduced Glutathione (GSH) content. CDCP significantly reduced oxidative stress-induced injury by preserving mitochondrial function in the colonic myenteric plexus. Furthermore, the neuroprotective effects of CDCP might be associated with the Nrf2/Keap1 pathway. Thus, our findings first revealed the potential of CDCP to protect the colonic myenteric plexus against oxidative stress-induced damage in STC, establishing CDCP as promising candidates for natural medicine in the clinical management of STC.

Abstract
Deep learning methods have been successfully used in various computer vision tasks. Inspired by that success, deep learning has been explored in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) reconstruction. In particular, integrating deep learning and model-based optimization methods has shown considerable advantages. However, a large amount of labeled training data is typically needed for high reconstruction quality, which is challenging for some MRI applications. In this paper, we propose a novel reconstruction method, named DURED-Net, that enables interpretable self-supervised learning for MR image reconstruction by combining a self-supervised denoising network and a plug-and-play method. We aim to boost the reconstruction performance of Noise2Noise in MR reconstruction by adding an explicit prior that utilizes imaging physics. Specifically, the leverage of a denoising network for MRI reconstruction is achieved using Regularization by Denoising (RED). Experiment results demonstrate that the proposed method requires a reduced amount of training data to achieve high reconstruction quality among the state-of-the-art approaches utilizing Noise2Noise.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate the possible effects of novel coronavirus disease 2019 (2019-NCOV) on male sex hormones and reproductive ability, and analyze its incidence and risk factors. METHODS We retrieved from PubMed, Embase, The Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Clinical Trails, CNKI, CBM, Wan Fang Database and VIP to collect research on the effects of COVID-19 on the male sex hormone. Our literature search was conducted until April 2022, and two investigators independently screened articles based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. In strict accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria, two researchers independently screened the literature and comprehensively analyzed 8 cohort studies on the impact of COVID-19 on male sex hormone. And We used RevMan5.4.1 and Stata15.0 for statistical analysis. Finally, there were eight cohort studies on the effects of COVID-19 on male sex hormones. RESULTS T(RR = - 3.94; 95% CI - 6.22, - 1.66; P = 0.0007), testosterone in the COVID-19 group decreased by 3.94 nmol/L compared with the control group, and the difference was statistically significant. LH (RR = 0.85; 95% CI - 0.26, 1.96; P = 0.13), the LH in COVID-19 group was 0.85 mlU/ml higher than that in control group, but the difference was not statistically significant. FSH (RR = 0.25; 95% CI - 0.72, 1.23; P = 0.61), the FSH of COVID-19 group was 0.25 mlU/ml higher than that of the control group, but the difference was not statistically significant. PRL (RR = 2.42; 95% CI 0.52, 4.31; P = 0.01), the PRL in the COVID-19 group was 2.42 ng/ml higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant. E2(RR = 11.88; 95% CI 9.90, 13.86; P < 0.00001), The level of E2 in the COVID-19 group was 11.88 pg/ml higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant. T:LH (RR = - 0.39; 95% CI - 076, - 0.02; P = 0.04), the ratio of T:LH in COVID-19 group was lower than that in control group, and the difference was statistically significant. FSH:LH (RR = - 0.38; 95% CI - 0.86, 0.11; P = 0.13), the ratio of FSH:LH decreased in COVID-19 group compared with control group, but the difference was not statistically significant. CONCLUSIONS COVID-19 can affect the level of sex hormones, especially T, which may further affect male fertility. Due to the limitations of this study, this conclusion needs to be further verified by large-sample, high-quality prospective cohort studies on the long-term effects of COVID-19 on male sex hormones and fertility.

Abstract
Purpose The purpose of this study is to compare the refracture rate of the cemented vertebral body of percutaneous curved vertebroplasty (PCVP) and bilateral percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) in the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCF). Methods Ninety-four patients with single segment thoracolumbar OVCF were randomly divided into two groups (47 patients in each) and underwent PCVP or bilateral PKP surgery, respectively. Refracture of cemented vertebral body, bone cement injection volume and cement pattern, cement leakage rate, total surgical time, intraoperative fluoroscopy time, preoperative and postoperative Cobb angles and anterior vertebral height, Oswestry disability index questionnaire (ODI) and visual analog scales (VAS) were recorded. Results The PCVP group had significantly lower refracture incidence of the cemented vertebral than the bilateral PKP group (p<0.05). There was a significant postoperative improvement in the VAS score and ODI in both group (p<0.01), and no significant difference was found between two groups. The operation time and intraoperative fluoroscopy times were significantly less in the PCVP group than in the bilateral PKP group (p<0.01). The mean kyphosis angle correction and vertebral height restoration in the PCVP group was significantly less than that in the bilateral PKP group (p<0.01). Conclusion Both PCVP and PKP were safe and effective treatments for OVCF. The PCVP had lower refracture rate of the cemented vertebral than the bilateral PKP group, and PCVP entailed less exposure to fluoroscopy and shorter operation time than bilateral PKP.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Both instrumented and stand-alone lateral lumbar interbody fusion (LLIF) have been widely used to treat lumbar degenerative disease. However, it remains controversial as whether posterior internal fixation is required when LLIF is performed. This meta-analysis aims to compare the radiographic and clinical results between instrumented and stand-alone LLIF. METHODS PubMed, EMBASE and Cochrane Collaboration Library up to March 2023 were searched for studies that compared instrumented and stand-alone LLIF in the treatment of lumbar degenerative disease. The following outcomes were extracted for comparison: interbody fusion rate, cage subsidence rate, reoperation rate, restoration of disc height, segmental lordosis, lumbar lordosis, visual analog scale (VAS) scores of low-back and leg pain and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) scores. RESULTS 13 studies involving 1063 patients were included. The pooled results showed that instrumented LLIF had higher fusion rate (OR 2.09; 95% CI 1.16-3.75; P = 0.01), lower cage subsidence (OR 0.50; 95% CI 0.37-0.68; P < 0.001) and reoperation rate (OR 0.28; 95% CI 0.10-0.79; P = 0.02), and more restoration of disc height (MD 0.85; 95% CI 0.18-1.53; P = 0.01) than stand-alone LLIF. The ODI and VAS scores were similar between instrumented and stand-alone LLIF at the last follow-up. CONCLUSIONS Based on this meta-analysis, instrumented LLIF is associated with higher rate of fusion, lower rate of cage subsidence and reoperation, and more restoration of disc height than stand-alone LLIF. For patients with high risk factors of cage subsidence, instrumented LLIF should be applied to reduce postoperative complications.

Abstract
Protein clustering is a powerful form of optogenetic control, yet remarkably few proteins are known to oligomerize with light. Recently, the photoreceptor BcLOV4 was found to form protein clusters in mammalian cells in response to blue light, although clustering coincided with its translocation to the plasma membrane, potentially constraining its application as an optogenetic clustering module. Herein we identify key amino acids that couple BcLOV4 clustering to membrane binding, allowing us to engineer a variant that clusters in the cytoplasm and does not associate with the membrane in response to blue light. This variant-called BcLOVclust-clustered over many cycles with substantially faster clustering and de-clustering kinetics compared to the widely used optogenetic clustering protein Cry2. The magnitude of clustering could be strengthened by appending an intrinsically disordered region from the fused in sarcoma (FUS) protein, or by selecting the appropriate fluorescent protein to which it was fused. Like wt BcLOV4, BcLOVclust activity was sensitive to temperature: light-induced clusters spontaneously dissolved at a rate that increased with temperature despite constant illumination. At low temperatures, BcLOVclust and Cry2 could be multiplexed in the same cells, allowing light control of independent protein condensates. BcLOVclust could also be applied to control signaling proteins and stress granules in mammalian cells. While its usage is currently best suited in cells and organisms that can be cultured below ∼30 °C, a deeper understanding of BcLOVclust thermal response will further enable its use at physiological mammalian temperatures.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Several studies have described prophylactic closure after endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) of colorectal lesions for improving postoperative outcomes. We reviewed the evidence on the impact of prophylactic closure after ESD. METHODS A literature search was conducted on PubMed, Embase, CENTRAL, and Web of Science by 2 reviewers independently for studies published up to July 9, 2023. All types of comparative studies were eligible. RESULTS Ten studies compared 939 patients undergoing prophylactic closure with 1074 controls. Three were randomized controlled trials (RCTs) while the rest were observational. Pooled data from all included studies showed that prophylactic closure resulted in reduced incidence of delayed bleeding after ESD [odds ratio (OR): 0.30; 95% CI: 0.15, 0.72; I2 =0%]. These results were significant only for observational studies but not for RCTs. Meta-analysis showed no significant difference in the risk of delayed perforation (OR: 0.55; 95% CI: 0.18, 1.70; I2 =0%) or post-ESD coagulation syndrome (PECS) (OR: 1.15; 95% CI: 0.41, 3.19; I2 =63%) between closure and nonclosure groups. CONCLUSIONS Observational data suggest that prophylactic closure of colorectal mucosal defects after ESD may reduce the risk of delayed bleeding. However, the results are not concurred by RCTs. Furthermore, there seems to be no impact of prophylactic closure on the risk of delayed perforation and PECS.

Abstract
Ergothioneine (EGT) is a high-value natural antioxidant that cannot be synthesized by the human body. This study showed that Rhodotorula mucilaginosa DL-X01 can use untreated molasses and fish bone meal enzymatic hydrolysate as the substrates to synthesize EGT. By optimizing the growth conditions, the EGT yield reached 29.39 mg/L when molasses and fish bone meal (FBM) were added at 60 g/L and 400 g/L respectively. Finally, the EGT yield was increased to 216.25 mg/L by fed-batch fermentation in a 5 L bioreactor. Compared with the fermentation by yeast extract peptone dextrose medium, the feedstock cost of EGT production was reduced by 330.91 % by using molasses and FBM as substrates. These results showed that R. mucilaginosa DL-X01 can produce high-value EGT using two cheap processing by-products, molasses and FBM, which is of great significance for environmental protection and sustainable development.

Abstract
mRNA-based molecular subtypes have implications for bladder cancer prognosis and clinical benefit from certain therapies. Whether small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) can reflect bladder cancer molecular subtypes is unknown. We performed whole transcriptome RNA sequencing for formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tumour tissues and sEVs separated from matched tissue explants, urine and plasma in patients with bladder cancer. sEVs were separated using size-exclusion chromatography, and characterized by transmission electron microscopy, nano flow cytometry and western blots, respectively. High yield of sEVs were obtained using approximately 1 g of tissue, incubated with media for 30 min. FFPE tumour tissue and tumour tissue-derived sEVs demonstrated good concordance in molecular subtype classification. All urinary sEVs were classified as luminal subtype, while all plasma sEVs were classified as Ba/Sq subtype, regardless of the molecular subtypes indicated by their matched FFPE tumour tissue. The comparison within urine sEVs, which may exclude the sample type specific background, could pick up the different biology between NMIBC and MIBC, as well as the signature genes related to molecular subtypes. Four candidate sEV-related bladder cancer-specific mRNA biomarkers, FAM71E2, OR4K5, FAM138F and KRTAP26-1, were identified by analysing matched urine sEVs, tumour tissue derived sEVs, and adjacent normal tissue derived sEVs. Compared to sEVs separated from biofluids, tissue-derived sEVs may reflect more tissue- or disease-specific biological features. Urine sEVs are promising biomarkers to be used for liquid biopsy-based molecular subtype classification, but the current algorithm needs to be modified/adjusted. Future work is needed to validate the four new bladder cancer-specific biomarkers in large cohorts.

Abstract
BACKGROUND We aimed to identify preoperative predictors of aggressive pathology for cT1 solid renal cell carcinoma (RCC) by combining clinical features with qualitative and quantitative CT parameters, and developed a nomogram model. METHODS We conducted a retrospective study of 776 cT1 solid RCC patients treated with partial nephrectomy (PN) or radical nephrectomy (RN) between 2018 and 2022. All patients underwent four-phase contrast-enhanced CT scans and the CT parameters were obtained by two experienced radiologists using region of interest (ROI). Aggressive pathology was defined as patients with nuclear grade III-IV; upstage to pT3a; type II papillary renal cell carcinoma (pRCC), collecting duct or renal medullary carcinoma, unclassified RCC or sarcomatoid/rhabdoid features. Univariate and multivariate logistic analyses were used to determine significant predictors and develop the nomogram model. To evaluate the accuracy and clinical utility of the nomogram model, we used the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, calibration plot, decision curve analysis (DCA), risk stratification, and subgroup analysis. RESULTS Of the 776 cT1 solid RCC patients, 250 (32.2%) had aggressive pathological features. The interclass correlation coefficient (ICC) of CT parameters accessed by two reviewers ranged from 0.758 to 0.982. Logistic regression analyses showed that neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), distance to the collecting system, CT necrosis, tumor margin irregularity, peritumoral neovascularity, and RER-NP were independent predictive factors associated with aggressive pathology. We built the nomogram model using these significant variables, which had an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.854 in the ROC curve. CONCLUSIONS Our research demonstrated that preoperative four-phase contrast-enhanced CT was critical for predicting aggressive pathology in cT1 solid RCC, and the constructed nomogram was useful in guiding patient treatment and postoperative follow-up.

Abstract
PURPOSE To explore the critical role of the tumor margin irregularity degree (TMID) of renal tumors in predicting adverse pathology of patients with clinical T1/2 (cT1/2) renal cell carcinoma (RCC). METHODS A total of 821 patients with cT1/2 RCC undergoing nephrectomy in the Second Hospital of Tianjin Medical University between January 2017 and December 2020 were reviewed. The tumor margin irregularity (TMI) was classified into renal mass with locally raised protrusion and smooth margin called 'lobular', sharply and unsmooth nodular margin called 'spiculation', blurred margins between tumor and renal parenchyma or a completely irregular and non-elliptical shape. The ratio between the number of irregular cross-sections (X) and the number of total cross-sections from top to bottom occupied (Y) was defined as TMID (X/Y). The logistic regression was performed to determine the independent predictors of adverse pathology, and the Kaplan-Meier curve and log-rank test were used to analyze the survival outcomes. RESULTS Among 821 cT1/2 RCC patients, 245 (29.8%) had adverse pathology. The results of the univariate and multivariate logistic regressions showed that the age, tumor size, hemoglobin, and TMID were the independent predictors of adverse pathology. Incorporation of TMID could increase the discrimination of the predictive model with the area under curve (AUC) of ROC curves increasing from 0.725 to 0.808. Patients with adverse pathology or higher TMID both had significantly shorter recurrence-free survival (RFS). CONCLUSION The nomogram model incorporated with TMID for predicting adverse pathology could increase its discrimination, calibration, and clinical application values, compared with the models without TMID.

Abstract
In recent years, frequency-multiplexed metasurfaces have received extensive attention due to the increasing demand for multifunction integration and communication capacity. However, multi-channel studies achieved with a mono-layered frequency-multiplexed metasurface are limited. Herein, a universal design strategy for a frequency-multiplexed mono-layered geometric phase metasurface is proposed by utilizing Pancharatnam-Berry (PB) phase modulations. The elementary meta-atom is judiciously designed to transmit the cross-polarized component of a circularly polarized incident wave at four distinct frequencies with independent 360° phase shifts and a constant amplitude of 0.48, close to the theoretical limit of 0.5. As a proof-of-concept demonstration, a four-channel meta-hologram is designed to achieve distinct holographic images of "three foci", "five foci", "J" and "X" at 7.2 GHz, 9.1 GHz, 10.9 GHz, and 15.2 GHz respectively. The images are projected in the desired azimuth planes by exploiting the time-shifting properties of the Fourier transform. The experimental and full-wave simulation results are in good agreement, which indicates that the proposed strategy has great potentials in various applications, such as multi-channel imaging and information encryption technology.

Abstract
Cuproptosis, a novel mechanism of programmed cell death, has not been fully explored in the context of spermatogenic cells. This study investigated the potential involvement of cuproptosis in spermatogenic cell death using a mouse model of copper overload. Sixty male Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) mice were randomly divided into four groups that received daily oral gavage with sodium chloride (control) or copper sulfate (CuSO4) at 50 mg kg-1, 100 mg kg-1, or 200 mg kg-1, for 42 consecutive days. Mice subjected to copper overload exhibited a disruption in copper homeostasis. Additionally, significant upregulated expression of key cuproptosis factors was accompanied by a significant rise in the rates of testicular tissue cell apoptosis. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed the presence of ferredoxin 1 (Fdx1) in Sertoli cells, Leydig cells, and spermatogenic cells at various stages of testicular development, and the Fdx1-positive staining area was significantly increased in copper-overloaded mice. Mitochondrial dysfunction and decreased adenosine triphosphate levels were also observed, further implicating mitochondrial damage under cuproptosis. Further analyses revealed pathological lesions and blood-testis barrier destruction in the testicular tissue, accompanied by decreased sperm concentration and motility, in copper-overloaded mice. In summary, our results indicate that copper-overloaded mice exhibit copper homeostasis disorder in the testicular tissue and that cuproptosis participates in spermatogenic cell death. These findings provide novel insights into the pathogenic mechanisms underlying spermatogenic cell death and provide initial experimental evidence for the occurrence of cuproptosis in the testis.

Abstract
Avulsion fracture of the anterior superior iliac crest (ASIC) following autogenous bone grafting for anterior lumbar fusion (ALF) is an extremely rare complication. We describe a very rare case of avulsion fracture of the ASIC following autograft for ALF in a revision surgery for treating lumbar tuberculosis. A 68-year-old woman with lumbar tuberculosis underwent posterior debridement and posterior iliac crest bone graft fusion; however, her lumbar tuberculosis recurred 9 months after surgery. She then underwent a lumbar revision surgery, including removal of the posterior instrumentation and debridement, followed by anterior L2 corpectomy, debridement, anterior left iliac crest bone graft fusion, and internal fixation. When walking for the first time on postoperative day 3, she experienced a sharp, sudden-onset pain in the anterior iliac crest harvest area. X-ray revealed an avulsion fracture of the ASIC. Considering her failure to respond to conservative treatment for one week and large displacement of the fracture ends, an open reduction and internal fixation surgery was scheduled. Her pain symptoms were significantly relieved after the operation. Although rare, fracture of the ASIC following autograft for ALF should not be ignored. Fracture of the ASIC is usually treated conservatively. Additional surgical treatment is required only when intractable pain fails to respond to conservative treatment or when there is a large displacement of fracture ends that are not expected to heal spontaneously.

Abstract
Prostate cancer (PCa) is the second most common cancer in males worldwide. The Gleason scoring system, which classifies the pathological growth pattern of cancer, is considered one of the most important prognostic factors for PCa. Compared to indolent PCa, PCa with high Gleason score (h-GS PCa, GS ≥ 8) has greater clinical significance due to its high aggressiveness and poor prognosis. It is crucial to establish a rapid, non-invasive diagnostic modality to decipher patients with h-GS PCa as early as possible. In this study, ferric nanoparticle-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (FeNPALDI-MS) to extract prostate fluid metabolic fingerprint (PSF-MF) is employed and combined with the clinical features of patients, such as prostate-specific antigen (PSA), to establish a multi-modal diagnosis assisted by machine learning. This approach yields an impressive area under the curve (AUC) of 0.87 to diagnose patients with h-GS, surpassing the results of single-modal diagnosis using only PSF-MF or PSA, respectively. Additionally, using various screening methods, six key metabolites that exhibit greater diagnostic efficacy (AUC = 0.96) are identified. These findings also provide insights into related metabolic pathways, which may provide valuable information for further elucidation of the pathological mechanisms underlying h-GS PCa.

Abstract
Topography is an important factor affecting soil erosion and is measured as a combination of the slope length and slope steepness (LS-factor) in erosion models, like the Chinese Soil Loss Equation. However, global high-resolution LS-factor datasets have rarely been published. Challenges arise when attempting to extract the LS-factor on a global scale. Furthermore, existing LS-factor estimation methods necessitate projecting data from a spherical trapezoidal grid to a planar rectangle, resulting in grid size errors and high time complexity. Here, we present a global 1-arcsec resolution LS-factor dataset (DS-LS-GS1) with an improved method for estimating the LS-factor without projection conversion (LS-WPC), and we integrate it into a software tool (LS-TOOL). Validation of the Himmelblau-Orlandini mathematical surface shows that errors are less than 1%. We assess the LS-WPC method on 20 regions encompassing 5 landform types, and R2 of LS-factor are 0.82, 0.82, 0.83, 0.83, and 0.84. Moreover, the computational efficiency can be enhanced by up to 25.52%. DS-LS-GS1 can be used as high-quality input data for global soil erosion assessment.

Abstract
Background: Several medications have been used for glucocorticoids-induced osteoporosis (GIO). However, the best therapeutic option for GIO is still controversial. A Bayesian network meta-analysis was conducted to compare the efficacy and safety of denosumab, teriparatide and bisphosphonates for patients with GIO. Methods: Relevant randomized controlled trials published in PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library and ClinicalTrials.gov up to August 2023 were searched. The following efficiency and safety outcomes were extracted for comparison: bone mineral density (BMD) percentage changes in lumbar spine, femur neck and total hip, and incidences of adverse events (AEs), serious adverse events (SAEs), vertebrae and non-vertebrae fracture. Bayesian random effects models were used for multiple treatment comparisons. Results: 11 eligible RCTs involving 2,877 patients were identified. All the six medications including alendronate, risedronate, etidronate, zoledronate, teriparatide, and denosumab and were effective in increasing BMD. Teriparatide and denosumab were more effective in improving lumbar spine and femur neck BMD, and reducing vertebrae fracture. Alendronate and denosumab were more effective in improving total hip BMD. Alendronate and teriparatide had the lowest incidences of AEs and SAEs. Conclusion: Teriparatide denosumab and the bisphosphonates are all effective in improving BMD for GIO patients. Based on this network meta-analysis, teriparatide and denosumab have higher efficiency in improving lumbar spine and femur neck BMD, and reducing vertebrae fracture. Abstract
A novel method for the determination of trace arsenic (As) by photochemical vapor generation (PVG) with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry measurement was developed in this study. The synergistic effect from antimony (Sb) and cadmium (Cd) was found for the photochemical reduction of As for the first time. Effective photochemical reduction of As was obtained in the system containing 10% (v/v) acetic acid, 5.0 mg L-1 Sb(III), and 20.0 mg L-1 Cd(II) with 100 s UV irradiation. Analytical sensitivity of As(III) was comparable with that of As(V) under the tested conditions, making direct determination of total As feasible. Compared to the pneumatic nebulization method, analytical sensitivity of the developed method was enhanced about 50 folds. The PVG efficiency was estimated up to be 99 ± 3%. The limit of detection (LOD) (3σ) was found to be 2.1 ng L-1 for As, which was improved about 30-fold compared to that using direct sample introduction solution nebulization. Considering the sample dilution prior to analysis (usually one-fold), the LOD was actually enhanced about 15 folds. The relative standard deviations of seven replicate measurements of 1.0 μg L-1 As(III) and As (V) standard solutions were 2.3 and 2.9% for As(III) and As(V), respectively. The proposed method was successfully applied for the detection of As in certified reference materials of sediments (GBW07303a and GBW07305a), as well as three water samples. The mechanism of the PVG system was investigated by using gas chromatography mass spectrometry, electron paramagnetic resonance, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. (CH3)3As along with (CH3)3Sb were synthesized under UV irradiation. Besides, volatile species of Cd were also found. The result obtained in this study is useful for developing efficient "sensitizers" in PVG and understanding the transformation of As in the presence of hydride/cold vapor forming elements in the photochemical process.

Abstract
Gene therapy, as a revolutionary treatment, has been gaining more and more attention. The key to gene therapy is the selection of suitable vectors for protection of exogenous nucleic acid molecules and enabling their specific release in target cells. While viral vectors have been widely used in researches, non-viral vectors are receiving more attention due to its advantages. Chitosan (CS) has been widely used as non-viral organic gene carrier because of its good biocompatibility and its ability to load large amounts of nucleic acids. This paper summarizes and evaluates the potential of chitosan and its derivatives as gene delivery vector materials, along with factors influencing transfection efficiency, performance evaluation, ways to optimize infectious efficiency, and the current main research development directions. Additionally, it provides an outlook on its future prospects.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the characteristics of gene mutations in angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL). Methods: Seventy-five AITL cases diagnosed at the Department of Pathology, Ruijin Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, Shanghai, China from June 2021 to June 2023 were included. Their formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded or fresh tissues were subject to targeted next generation sequencing (NGS). The sequencing data was collected, and the distribution and type of gene mutations were analyzed. Results: 492 potential driver mutations were identified in 74 out of the 84 genes. Targeted sequencing data for the 75 AITL patients showed that the genes with mutation frequencies of ≥10% were TET2 (89.3%), RHOA (57.3%), IDH2 (37.3%), DNMT3A (36.0%), KMT2C (21.3%), PLCG1 (12.0%), and KDM6B (10.7%). There were significant co-occurrence relationships between TET2 and RHOA, TET2 and IDH2, and RHOA and IDH2 gene mutations (P<0.05), respectively, while TET2 and KDM6B gene mutations were mutually exclusive (P<0.05). Conclusions: The study reveals the mutational characteristics of AITL patients using NGS technology, which would provide insights for molecular diagnosis and targeted therapy of AITL.

Abstract
To explore the biological characteristics related to the pathogenesis and severity of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) bronchiolitis by RNA sequencing of white blood cells in children with RSV bronchiolitis. This study is a case-control study. A total of 87 children diagnosed with bronchiolitis and RSV antigen positive and/or RSV nucleic acid positive in the pediatric respiratory department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University from October 2019 to April 2022 were selected as the case group. The case group was divided into three groups based on the condition: mild, moderate, and severe, and there were two groups according to the presence or absence of atopic symptoms: the atopic group and the non-atopic group, forty healthy children in the same period were selected as the control group. The whole blood leukocyte RNA of the children in the case group and the control group was extracted for RNA sequencing, and the data were analyzed to obtain differentially expressed genes (DEGs). Then, the immunobiological pathways and genes related to the pathogenesis, disease condition, and atopy were screened through Gene Ontology (GO) annotation, Kyoto Gene and Genome Encyclopedia (KEGG) annotation, and protein interaction network (PPI) construction methods. Construct the weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) module to identify potential biological indicators related to disease severity.Compared with the control group, the case group had a total of 1 782 DEGs, including 1 586 upregulated genes and 196 downregulated genes. The GO pathway enrichment of DEGs is mainly enriched in molecular functions such as peroxidase activity and oxidoreductase activity. In the cytological components, it is mainly enriched in cytoplasmic vesicle lumen and secretory granule lumen. In biological processes, it is mainly enriched in processes such as neutrophil activation involved in immune responses, neutrophil degranulation, and neutrophil activation. KEGG analysis is mainly concentrated in the signal pathway of the viral protein interaction with cytokine and cytokine receptor. A PPI network was constructed to screen four genes at the core position, including CCL2, IL-10, MMP9 and JUN. The DEGs obtained by comparing different disease groups with the control group are mainly enriched in retrograde endocannabinoid signaling and cell apoptosis pathways. WGCNA analysis showed that the brown module related to oxygen saturation was most closely related to the disease, and its gene was mainly enriched in the RNA helicase retinoic acid inducible gene-I (RIG-I) like receptor signal pathway. There are 230 specific DEGs in the atopic group and 444 in the non-atopic group. KEGG enrichment analysis results show that both groups are enriched to NF-κB signaling pathway, the characteristic does not cause significant changes in immune response and transcriptome characteristics in children with RSV bronchiolitis. In conclusion, neutrophil activation, degranulation pathway and signal pathway of interaction between viral protein and cytokine and cytokine receptor are involved in the immune response of RSV bronchiolitis host. CCL2, IL-10, MMP9 and JUN genes may be associated with the pathogenesis. They might be potential biomarkers related to disease severity in RIG-I like receptors, cell apoptosis, and endogenous cannabinoid related signaling pathways.

Abstract
BACKGROUND T cell stress response state (TSTR), as a novel immune concept previous studies have proposed, has not yet been explored in prostate cancer (PC). As a type of cellular efflux, exosomes play important roles in the occurrence and development of PC. METHOD Here, we conducted a combined analysis on extracellular vesicle related genes (EVRGs) in PC using data from single-cell RNA (scRNA), spatial transcriptome (ST), and bulk RNA sequencing. RESULT Preliminary findings have revealed that heat shock protein family H (Hsp110) member 1 (HSPH1) possesses two identities, one being EVRGs and the other being a member of the heat shock protein family involved in TSTR, which may promote the differentiation of conventional T cells towards Th1 or Th2 cells through the pathway of IL2-MYC-IL2RA, thereby promoting the increase of CD8 + T cells in the tumor area, especially in the invasive zone, and inhibiting the invasion of PCs. We also notice the negative response of HSPH1 + CD8 + T cell related genes in immune checkpoint blockade (ICB). Western blot (WB) and droplet digital Polymerase Chain Reaction (ddPCR) demonstrated that the mRNA and protein levels of HSPH1 in EVs of PCs were significantly higher than those in adjacent tissues. CONCLUSION Results above indicate the potential of HSPH1 as a critical therapeutic target in PC.

Abstract
PURPOSE Airway remodeling is a critical feature of asthma. Secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine (SPARC), which plays a cardinal role in regulating cell-matrix interactions, has been implicated in various fibrotic diseases. However, the effect of SPARC in asthma remains unknown. METHODS We studied the expression of SPARC in human bronchial epithelial cells and serum of asthmatics as well as in the lung tissues of chronic asthma mice. The role of SPARC was examined by using a Lentivirus-mediated SPARC knockdown method in the ovalbumin (OVA)-induced asthma mice. The biological processes regulated by SPARC were identified using RNA sequencing. The function of SPARC in the remodeling process induced by transforming growth factor β1 (TGFβ1) was conducted by using SPARC small interfering RNA (siRNA) or recombinant human SPARC protein in 16HBE cells. RESULTS We observed that SPARC was up-regulated in human bronchial epithelia of asthmatics and the asthmatic mice. The levels of serum SPARC in asthmatics were also elevated and negatively correlated with the forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) to forced vital capacity ratio (FVC) (r = -0.485, P < 0.01) and FEV1 (%predicted) (r = -0.425, P = 0.001). In the chronic asthmatic mice, Lentivirus-mediated SPARC knockdown significantly decreased airway remodeling and airway hyper-responsiveness. According to gene set enrichment analysis, negatively enriched pathways found in the OVA + short hairpin-SPARC group included ECM organization and collagen formation. In the lung function studies, knockdown of SPARC by siRNA reduced the expression of remodeling-associated biomarkers, cell migration, and contraction by blocking the TGFβ1/Smad2 pathway. Addition of human recombinant SPARC protein promoted the TGFβ1-induced remodeling process, cell migration, and contraction in 16HBE cells via the TGFβ1/Smad2 pathway. CONCLUSIONS Our studies provided evidence for the involvement of SPARC in the airway remodeling of asthma via the TGFβ1/Smad2 pathway.

Abstract
AIM To compare the clinical efficacy and safety of first-line treatments for advanced unresectable oesophageal squamous cell cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS A systematic review and network meta-analysis was carried out by retrieving and retaining relevant literature from databases. The studies were randomised controlled trials comparing first-line treatments for advanced unresectable oesophageal squamous cell cancer. A Bayesian network meta-analysis was used to assess clinical outcomes. RESULTS Nine studies including 4499 patients receiving first-line treatments were analysed. For all populations, toripalimab plus chemotherapy tended to provide the best overall survival (hazard ratio 0.58, 95% confidence intervals 0.43-0.78) and sintilimab plus chemotherapy provided the best progression-free survival (0.56, 0.46-0.68). Nivolumab plus chemotherapy presented the best objective response rate (odds ratio 2.45, 1.78-3.42) and camrelizumab plus chemotherapy (0.47, 0.29-0.74) appeared to be the safest. Sintilimab plus chemotherapy (0.55, 0.40-0.75) and nivolumab (0.54, 0.37-0.80) plus chemotherapy had the best overall survival in programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) tumour proportion score <1% and ≥1% subgroups. Toripalimab plus chemotherapy (0.61, 0.40-0.93) and pembrolizumab (0.57, 0.43-0.75) were the best in overall survival in combined positive score <10 and ≥10 subgroups, respectively. Toripalimab plus chemotherapy showed the best overall survival in the Asian group; pembrolizumab presented better overall survival in the Asian population than the non-Asian group. CONCLUSION Most immunotherapy combined with chemotherapy showed superior clinical benefits and sintilimab plus chemotherapy, toripalimab plus chemotherapy and tislelizumab plus chemotherapy had better comprehensive clinical efficacy. PD-L1 expression detection and ethnicity differences are still of great significance and most suitable regimens varied from each subgroup.

Abstract
The repertoire of aberrant signaling underlying the pathogenesis of lung adenocarcinoma remains largely uncharacterized, which precludes an efficient therapy for these patients, especially when distant metastasis occurs. Cyclin-dependent kinase 10 (CDK10) has been reported to modulate the progression of malignant tumors; however, contradictory effects have been found among different types of malignant tumors. In the present study, we found that CDK10 was downregulated in lung adenocarcinoma compared with the paired adjacent normal lung tissue, and lower expression level of CDK10 was associated with more frequent N2 staged lymph node and distant metastasis, higher TNM stage, and shorter overall survival. Further study indicated that CDK10 inhibited the migration and invasion abilities with no impact on the proliferation of lung adenocarcinoma cells. Mechanistically, CDK10 could bind to and promote the degradation of ETS2, a transcription factor for C-RAF and MMP2/9, thereby inactivating the downstream c-Raf/p-MEK/p-ERK pathway that drives epithelial-mesenchymal transition and impairing the expression of matrix metalloproteinases involved in cell invasion. In addition, the p-MEK/p-ERK pathway conducts a positive feedback regulation on the expression of ETS2. Knockdown of CDK10 in human lung adenocarcinoma cells significantly promoted the formation of metastatic foci in lungs in a xenograft mouse model. In conclusion, CDK10 suppresses metastasis of lung adenocarcinoma by disrupting the ETS2/c-Raf/p-MEK/p-ERK/ETS2 signaling and MMP2/9, providing a new therapeutic target for the treatment of lung adenocarcinoma with metastasis.

Abstract
This paper performed as a frontier try to investigate the effect of high temperatures on entrepreneurship, assessed from an urban perspective. This paper estimated the impact of high temperatures on urban entrepreneurship levels using data from 281 prefecture cities in China, during the period 2000-2017. This paper found that a single day with a temperature of above 30 °C led to a decrease of 0.47 % in urban entrepreneurship levels, compared with a single day recording comfortable temperatures. Following a series of robustness tests, the results were found to be significant. Next, this paper conducted a series of heterogeneity analyses and discovered that cities with advanced industrial structures, larger sizes and more essential hierarchies were less affected by high temperatures. Finally, this paper further analyzed the potential influence mechanisms of high temperatures on entrepreneurship. This paper found that high temperature affects urban entrepreneurship levels by worsening the entrepreneurial environment, especially by reducing human capital, hindering innovation, decreasing the financial support available to enterprises, and hindering economic development. The results of our study have thus enriched the literature on entrepreneurship by exploring the impact of climate change on entrepreneurship.

Abstract
CONTEXT Luteolin can affect multiple biological functions, such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and immune enhancement processes. Luteolin can inhibit inflammation of T2-high asthma, but its role in neutrophilic asthma has been insufficently studied. OBJECTIVE This study determines the effect of luteolin on IL-36γ secretion-mediated MAPK pathway signalling in neutrophilic asthma. MATERIALS AND METHODS The asthma model was established by using ovalbumin/lipopolysaccharide (OVA/LPS). Female 6-8-week-old C57BL/6 mice were divided into control, asthma, luteolin (20 mg/kg) and asthma + luteolin (20 mg/kg) groups. To explore the mechanism of anti-inflammatory effects of luteolin in neutrophilic asthma, Beas-2B cells were treated with luteolin (20 µmol/L), LPS (100 ng/mL), recombinant human IL-36γ protein (rhIL-36γ; 100 ng/mL) or IL-36γ siRNA. RESULTS IL-36γ secretion and MAPK/IL-1β signalling were significantly increased in the asthma mouse model compared with the control (p < 0.05). However, the levels of IL-36γ secretion and MAPK/IL-1β signalling were reduced by luteolin (p < 0.05). In addition, luteolin inhibited IL-36γ and MAPK/IL-1β levels after LPS (100 ng/mL) stimulation of Beas-2B cells (p < 0.05). We found that in Beas-2B cells, luteolin inhibited activation of the MAPK pathway and IL-1β secretion following stimulation with rhIL-36γ (100 ng/mL; p < 0.05). Finally, IL-1β and phosphorylated MAPK levels were found to be lower in the IL-36γ siRNA + LPS (100 ng/mL) group than in the nonspecific control (NC) siRNA + LPS group (p < 0.05). DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS Luteolin alleviated neutrophilic asthma by inhibiting IL-36γ secretion-mediated MAPK pathways. These findings provided a theoretical basis for the application of luteolin in the treatment of neutrophilic asthma.

Methods: A convenience sampling method was used to collect 129 geriatric patients who underwent inguinal hernia surgery from January 2018 to January 2023 in nine hospitals in Liaoning Province. There were 120 males and 9 females, of whom 89 patients were 60 to <75 years old, 33 patients were 75 to <85 years old and 7 patients were ≥85 years old. The 129 patients included 11 elderly patients with inguinal hernia who had recovered from preoperative infection with COVID-19. Statistical methods such as Cronbach's coefficient, Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin test, Bartlett's test, Pearson's correlation analysis, etc. were calculated to verify the reliability indexes such as feasibility, content validity, structural validity, criterion-related validity, internal consistency reliability, and re-test reliability. Taking the 5-item modified frailty index (5-mFI) as the gold standard, the area under the curve was used to analyze the ability of the two scales to predict the occurrence of postoperative acute urinary retention, postoperative delirium, poor incision healing, operative hematoma seroma, and postoperative complications. Results: The frailty assessment scale for elderly patients with inguinal hernia showed good reliability and validity (valid completion rate of 99.2%; item content validity index of 1.000, and the scale content validity index of 1.000; exploratory factor analysis extracted a total of 1 principal component, and factor loadings of each item of 0.565 to 0.873; the AUC for frailty diagnosis using 5-mFI as the gold standard of 0.795 (P<0.01) Cronbach's coefficient of 0.916, retest reliability coefficient of 0.926), it could effectively predict postoperative acute urinary retention, delirium, hematoma seroma in the operative area and total complications (AUC of 0.746, 0.870, 0.806, and 0.738, respectively; all P<0.05), and prediction efficiency was higher than that of 5-mFI (AUC of 0.694, 0.838, 0.626 and 0.641, P<0.05 for delirium only), but both scales were inaccurate in predicting poor incision healing (AUC of 0.519, P=0.913 for the frailty assessment scale and 0.455, P=0.791 for the 5-mFI). Conclusions: The frailty assessment scale for elderly patients with inguinal hernia is reliable and significantly predicts the occurrence of postoperative adverse events in elderly inguinal hernia patients. The scale can also be used for preoperative frailty assessment in elderly patients with inguinal hernia after rehabilitation from COVID-19 infection.

Abstract
Background Pulmonary hypertension (PH) represents a threatening pathophysiologic state that can be induced by chronic hypoxia and is characterized by extensive vascular remodeling. However, the mechanism underlying hypoxia-induced vascular remodeling is not fully elucidated. Methods and Results By using quantitative polymerase chain reactions, western blotting, and immunohistochemistry, we demonstrate that the expression of N-myc downstream regulated gene-1 (NDRG1) is markedly increased in hypoxia-stimulated endothelial cells in a time-dependent manner as well as in human and rat endothelium lesions. To determine the role of NDRG1 in endothelial dysfunction, we performed loss-of-function studies using NDRG1 short hairpin RNAs and NDRG1 over-expression plasmids. In vitro, silencing NDRG1 attenuated proliferation, migration, and tube formation of human pulmonary artery endothelial cells (HPAECs) under hypoxia, while NDRG1 over-expression promoted these behaviors of HPAECs. Mechanistically, NDRG1 can directly interact with TATA-box binding protein associated factor 15 (TAF15) and promote its nuclear localization. Knockdown of TAF15 abrogated the effect of NDRG1 on the proliferation, migration and tube formation capacity of HPAECs. Bioinformatics studies found that TAF15 was involved in regulating PI3K-Akt, p53, and hypoxia-inducible factor 1 (HIF-1) signaling pathways, which have been proved to be PH-related pathways. In addition, vascular remodeling and right ventricular hypertrophy induced by hypoxia were markedly alleviated in NDRG1 knock-down rats compared with their wild-type littermates. Conclusions Taken together, our results indicate that hypoxia-induced upregulation of NDRG1 contributes to endothelial dysfunction through targeting TAF15, which ultimately contributes to the development of hypoxia-induced PH.
