Abstract
Lysosome imaging plays an important role in diagnosing many diseases and understanding various intracellular processes. Recently, B0 was reported as a fluorescent probe capable of detecting lysosomal viscosity changes. BODIPY is fused into the molecule as a bridge between the acceptor and donor components of B0, yielding nine new B molecules. Computational design and analysis of their optoelectronic properties were conducted to evaluate their effectiveness as fluorescent probes for lysosome imaging, with a specific target of HSA inside lysosomes. Optimized geometries reveal excellent π electron delocalization, resulting in nearly planar molecular structures. Frontier molecular orbital analysis suggests intramolecular charge transfer, along with π-π* transitions, from donor to bridge. TD-DFT calculations were performed to study absorption properties in the solvent phase, with B3PW91 showing good agreement with experiments. Molecular docking studies indicate that B derivatives can bind with HSA, and molecular dynamics simulations confirm their HSA targeting ability. This investigation highlights the introduction of BODIPY as a bridge for developing new probes capable of producing NIR fluorescence for bio-imaging, aiding in disease diagnosis.

Abstract
The study of halogen bonds (XBs) has been a subject of great interest in recent years due to its clear application in catalysis, liquid crystals, and crystal engineering. In this study, we analyzed the intermolecular interactions, in particular halogen bonds in BODIPYs with an increasing number of bromine atoms. The computational study included analyses through three different methods: the first approach of close contacts provided by mercury, then the expanded approach of the electron density partition of the molecules in the crystals provided by the analysis of Hirshfeld surfaces, and finally, the approach of the Quantum Theory of Atoms in Molecules (QT-AIM) to characterize the non-covalent interactions through finding electron density critical points between atoms and between neighboring molecules. The use of different computational methods allowed to gain insight into the interactions directing the crystal packing as the number of bromine atoms increased in the BODIPY moiety. Monocoordinated and bifurcated halogen bonds involving halide/halide were found. The penta-brominated BODIPY showed four-center cyclic nodes where each node is linked via XBs. This kind of motif can be useful in supramolecular chemistry and self-assembly.

Abstract
A simple semiempiric phenomenological approach is developed for quantifying the solvent effect on the absorption and emission properties of BODIPYs. It is based on a new rule describing the linear relationship between the difference (Stokes shift) and the sum (double Gibbs free energy of electron transfer) for absorption and emission wavenumbers derived from a combination of solvent functions of Liptay theory. This rule is correspondent to changes of dipole moments in the ground and excited states. High reliability and advantages of the developed approach in comparison with traditional methods of the analysis of the solvatochromism based on Dimroth-Reichard and Lippert-Mataga solvent scales are illustrated for selected BODIPYs exhibiting positive, negative, and near-zero solvatochromism.

Abstract
A series of push-pull BODIPYs bearing multiple electron-donating and electron-acceptor groups were synthesized regioselectively from 2,3,5,6,8-pentachloro-BODIPY, and characterized by NMR spectroscopy, HRMS, and X-ray crystallography. The influence of the push-pull substituents on the spectroscopic and electrochemical properties of BODIPYs was investigated. Bathochromic shifts were observed for both absorbance (up to 37 nm) and emission (up to 60 nm) in different solvents upon introduction of the push-pull moieties. DFT calculations, consistent with the spectroscopic and cyclic voltammetry studies, show decreased HOMO-LUMO energy gaps upon the installation of the push-pull moieties. BODIPY 7 bearing thienyl groups on the 2 and 6 positions showed the largest λmax for both absorption (635-653 nm) and emission (706-707 nm), but also the lowest fluorescence quantum yields. All BODIPYs were nontoxic in the dark (IC50 > 200 μM) and showed low phototoxicity (IC50 > 100 μM, 1.5 J/cm2) toward human HEp2 cells. Despite the relatively low fluorescence quantum yields, the push-pull BODIPYS were effective for cell imaging, readily accumulating within cells and localizing mainly in the ER and Golgi. Our structure-property studies can guide future design of functionalized BODIPYs for various applications, including bioimaging and in dye-sensitized solar cells.

Abstract
In this study, the synthesis of boron dipyrromethene dyes containing mono, bis-2-naphthyloxyhexyloxy and 4-(benzyloxy)phenoxyhexyloxy groups has been reported. Boron dipyrromethene dyes were synthesized from the mono, bis-benzaldehyde derivatives with 2,4-dimethylpyrrole in dichloromethane in the presence of trifluoroacetic, 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-p-benzoquinon, triethyl amine and boron trifluoride diethyl etherate, respectively. Electrochemical characterization of boron dipyrromethene dyes were carried out with voltammetric measurements. Electrochemical studies show that boron dipyrromethene dyes containing mono, bis-2-naphthyloxyhexyloxy and 4-(benzyloxy)phenoxyhexyloxy groups have reversible one reduction potentials unlike irreversible one oxidation potentials. Abstract
Tetracyanobutadiene (TCBD) derivatives of ferrocenyl BODIPYs 2a-2c were designed and synthesized by [2 + 2] cycloaddition-retroelectrocyclization reaction of tetracyanoethylene (TCNE) with meso alkynylated ferrocenyl BODIPYs. The TCBD substituted ferrocenyl BODIPYs were designed in such a way that the distance between the ferrocenyl unit and the TCBD remains constant, whereas the distance between the BODIPY and the TCBD unit varies. The TCBD and BODIPY units were connected directly through a single bond (in 2a), through a phenylacetylene linkage (in 2b) and through a vinyl linkage (in 2c). The photonic and electrochemical properties of ferrocenyl BODIPYs were strongly perturbed by the incorporation of TCBD. The TCBD derivatives 2a-2c show red shifted absorption compared to their precursors 1a-1c. The single crystal structures of TCBD functionalized ferrocenyl BODIPYs 2a and 2c reveal extensive intermolecular hydrogen bonding but lack π-π stacking interactions.

Abstract
A Wittig reaction was employed to synthesize conjugated BODIPYs in high yields by treating formylated BODIPYs with alkyl/aryl ylides under simple room temperature conditions. Treatment of 3,5-diformyl BODIPYs or α-formyl 3-pyrrolyl BODIPY with different alkyl/aryl ylides in CH2Cl2 at room temperature for 2 h followed by straightforward column chromatographic purification on silica afforded conjugated BODIPYs in ~65-90% yields. This is an alternate method to Knoevenagel and Heck reactions which have been used to synthesize such conjugated BODIPYs. The method works very efficiently, and we prepared 12 substituted BODIPYs including cholesterol-substituted BODIPYs to demonstrate the versatility of the reaction. The spectral, electrochemical, and fluorescence properties of these conjugated BODIPYs are also described.
