Abstract
Montmorillonite (K10) loaded on magnetite silica-coated nanoparticles was made using simple co-precipitation methods. The prepared nanocat-Fe-Si-K10 was analyzed using some techniques including field emission-scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), inductive coupling plasma-optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier transmission-infrared spectra (FT-IR), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and wavelength-dispersive spectroscopy (WDX). The catalytic activity of the synthesized nanocat-Fe-Si-K10 has been examined in one-pot multicomponent transformations for the synthesis of 1-amidoalkyl 2-naphthol derivatives under solvent-free conditions. Nanocat-Fe-Si-K10 was determined to be very active, having the ability to be reused 15 times without significant loss of catalytic activity. The suggested technique has several advantages, including excellent yield, minimum reaction time, a straightforward workup, and catalyst recycling, all of which are essential green synthetic aspects.

Abstract
In this research, a Zn transition metallic complex on functionalized mesopore silica MCM-41 has been designed and utilized as an effective, recoverable, and thermally stable heterogeneous nanocatalyst in the formation of the C-C bond. Also, the synthesis of amino benzyl quinolinols and amino benzyl naphthol derivatives was performed by the three-component reaction of Betti from aromatic aldehydes, type II amines, and 8-hydroxyquinoline and 1-naphthol in the presence of the MCM-41-tryptophan-Zn nanocatalyst under reflux conditions. The short reaction times, high efficiency of the products, the easy separation of catalysts due to their heterogeneity, and their reusability are the advantages of this method. Finally, the nature of catalysts was studied by using some techniques such as the Fourier transform infrared spectrum, energy-dispersive spectroscopy, hot filtration test, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry, and N2 adsorption-desorption (BET). The synthesized heterogeneous catalysts showed perfect catalytic activity and also good recyclability in the Betti reaction. They could be reused at least for five consecutive cycles without significant loss of their catalytic activities.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Betti bases are pharmaceutically and synthetically important scaffolds due to their diverse range of biological activities and applications in key synthetic transformations in organic synthesis. OBJECTIVE This work has been sought to contribute to the development, design, and implementation of an improved green methodology with higher atom economy and lower E-factor values for the synthesis of Betti bases. METHOD To realize our objectives, we screened out different catalysts and reaction conditions using one-pot multicomponent modified Mannich reaction/Betti reaction by employing 2-naphthol, benzaldehyde and pyrrolidine as model substrates. RESULTS The developed methodology afforded functionalized Betti bases via FeCl3•6H2O catalyzed one-pot multicomponent Betti reaction under neat conditions at 110 °C (5-15 min) to afford functionalized Betti bases by using several aromatic aldehydes and secondary amines in 60-100% yields. CONCLUSION A facile synthetic methodology with higher atom economy and lower E-factor values to synthesize Betti bases via FeCl3•6H2O catalyzed one-pot multicomponent Betti reaction of 2-naphthol, aromatic aldehydes, and secondary amines under neat conditions at 110 °C has been reported. The developed methodology offers various advantages such as excellent yields (60-100%), short reaction time (5-15 min), wide substrate scope (12 examples), green reaction conditions, readily available catalyst, and easy purification (without column chromatography).

Abstract
The utility of deoxy-isoequilenine synthesized from estrone as valuable 2-naphthol analogue is demonstrated in the three components Betti-condensation. A simple, efficient and green procedure for the synthesis of aminobenzylnaphthol analogues (so-called Betti bases) has been realized highly diastereoselectively by using (S)-phenylethylamine and 1- or 2-naphthaldehyde. The absolute configuration of the new chiral compounds obtained has been determined by means of NMR experiments and confirmed by X-ray crystallography. The chiral steroidal aminobenzylnaphthols have been evaluated as pre-catalysts for the addition of diethylzinc to aldehydes with enantioselectivities of up to 98% ee.

Abstract
To synthesize functionalized Mannich bases that can serve two different types of ortho-quinone methide (o-QM) intermediates, 2-naphthol and 6-hydroxyquinoline were reacted with salicylic aldehyde in the presence of morpholine. The Mannich bases that can form o-QM and aza-o-QM were also synthesized by mixing 2-naphthol, 2-nitrobenzaldehyde, and morpholine followed by reduction of the nitro group. The highly functionalized aminonaphthol derivatives were then tested in [4+2] cycloaddition with different cyclic imines. The reaction proved to be both regio- and diastereoselective. In all cases, only one reaction product was obtained. Detailed structural analyses of the new polyheterocycles as well as conformational studies including DFT modelling were performed. The relative stability of o-QMs/aza-o-QM were also calculated, and the regioselectivity of the reactions could be explained only when the cycloaddition started from aminodiol 4. It was summarized that starting from diaminonaphthol 25, the regioselectivity of the reaction is driven by the higher nucleophilicity of the amino group compared with the hydroxy group. 12H-benzo[a]xanthen-12-one (11), formed via o-QM formation, was isolated as a side product. The proton NMR spectrum of 11 proved to be very unique from NMR point of view. The reason for the extreme low-field position of proton H-1 could be accounted for by theoretical calculation of structure and spatial magnetic properties of the compound in combination of ring current effects of the aromatic moieties and steric compression within the heavily hindered H(1)-C(1)-C(12b)-C(12a)-C(12)=O structural fragment.

Abstract
The multicomponent reaction between 2-naphthol, arylaldehydes and ammonia yields aminobenzylnaphthols in a process known as the Betti reaction, which was first uncovered at the beginning of the 20th century. Various methods have been reported for the synthesis of aminobenzylnaphthol (Betti base) and bis-Betti base derivatives using various types of naphthols, aromatic amines, heteroaromatic amines, and aliphatic and cyclic amines instead of ammonia or diamines and aliphatic and aromatic aldehydes or dialdehyde compounds under various conditions in recent years. The Betti reaction produces racemic and non-racemic aminobenzylnaphthol ligands. It is also clear that the most important area of application of the non-racemic aminonaphthols prepared in this manner is their use in asymmetric synthesis, either as chiral ligands or as chiral auxiliaries. The functional groups in these Mannich products offer many ring closure possibilities. Some of these products or the starting bifunctional compounds possess biological activity. Herein, we present a selection of the relevant studies on this topic.
