Abstract
Objective: Physical activity (PA) and pain are bidirectionally related during pregnancy. There are limited data on how prenatal changes in PA relate to labor and postpartum pain. The current study examined associations between PA change from the second to third trimester (increasing vs. decreasing) with (1) labor pain, (2) postpartum hospitalization pain, and (3) the likelihood of increasing versus decreasing PA at 6-months postpartum (relative to the third trimester). Methods: A sample of pregnant people with overweight/obesity were enrolled in a longitudinal study between 12- and 20-weeks' gestation (n = 257). A subsample, with at least three pain ratings documented (n = 233), were included in the current analysis. PA change was characterized with the Paffenbarger. Pain was assessed regularly during labor and postpartum hospitalization from 0 (no pain) to 10 (most pain). Labor and postpartum pain were summarized using minimum/maximum pain ratings, percent improvement in pain following analgesia, and overall pain burden. t-Tests compared pain between the PA groups, and chi-square analyses examined the likelihood of increasing versus decreasing PA at 6-months postpartum. Results: The increasing PA group (n = 52; 22%) reported lower minimum pain scores (d = 0.46) during postpartum hospitalization. Most individuals with decreasing PA between trimesters two and three reported increasing PA at 6-months postpartum. Conclusion: Relative to individuals with decreasing PA, individuals with increasing PA experienced less pain during postpartum hospitalization highlighting potential benefits of prenatal PA for postpartum recovery.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To determine the effects of m-health on gestational weight gain and physical activity during pregnancy among pregnant women with overweight and obesity. METHODS Six databases were searched: EMBASE, MEDLINE (Ovid), CINAHL EBSCOhost, COCHRANE Library, ScienceDirect and Google Scholar. The literature search was conducted from inception to early November 2024. The population of the study was pregnant women diagnosed as obese or overweight. The interventions involve mobile health (m-Health) strategies, including mobile or smartphone applications, text messaging, wearable devices, telehealth platforms, and various other digital communication methods. The study specifically reported gestational weight gain and physical activity, or one of the outcomes. Only randomised controlled trials (RCTs) were included. The study's quality was evaluated using the Cochrane risk of bias assessment. The effect was analyzed using the Review Manager 5 program with random effect and standard mean difference (SMD). RESULTS Fourteen RCTs were included, involving 4371 participants. The current meta-analysis found that m-health had a small negative effect on gestational weight gain among pregnant women with overweight and obesity, with SMDs=-0.18, 95 % CI [-0.32, -0.04], I2: 64 %. Particularly, m-health had no significant effects on physical activity, with: SMDs= 0.13, 95 % CI [-0.06, 0.31], I2= 74 %. CONCLUSIONS M-health apps are effective for weight control among pregnant women with overweight and obesity. However, it seems not to be significant on physical activity. It is crucial to make modifications to m-health interventions to address gaps in physical exercise programs during pregnancy.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effect of replacing 1 h/week of watching television with 1 h/week of light to moderate (LMPA) or vigorous physical activity (VPA) before and during pregnancy on the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). METHODS A case-control study was conducted in pregnant women. Physical activity and television watching before and during pregnancy were assessed using the Paffenbarger Physical Activity Questionnaire. Each type of activity was classified according to intensity (metabolic equivalent of task; MET): less than 6 METs is LMPA, 6 METs or more is VPA. The duration of physical activity and watching television was calculated, and logistic regression models were used to estimate adjusted odds ratios (aOR) and 95% confidence intervals for their association with GDM risk. The isotemporal substitution model was used to calculate the effect of replacing 1 h/week of watching television with the same duration of physical activity. RESULTS The GDM cases (n = 290) spent less time performing VPA than controls without GDM (n = 1175) and more time watching television during pregnancy (P < 0.05). During pregnancy, the risk of GDM increased for each hour of watching television (aOR = 1.02; 95% confidence interval 1.00-1.03). Women who spent more time watching television during pregnancy were likely to develop GDM (aOR>14 h/week vs. 0-6 h/week = 2.03; 95% confidence interval 1.35-3.08). Replacing 1 h/week of watching television with 1 h/week of VPA during pregnancy could decrease the chance of developing GDM (aOR = 0.66; 95% confidence interval 0.43-1.00). CONCLUSIONS A simple change of 1 h/week of watching television for 1 h/week of VPA in pregnant women may reduce the risk of GDM considerably.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Current research on the association between physical activity and perinatal depression is inconclusive. This study examined the association between objectively measured physical activity during pregnancy and perinatal depressive symptoms among individuals with overweight and obesity. METHODS Data came from the Health in Pregnancy and Postpartum study (N = 205). Physical activity was measured using the SenseWear Armband at 16 weeks' or fewer and 32 weeks' gestation and categorized into 1) never meeting 2018 physical activity guidelines, 2) meeting the guidelines at one time point, or 3) meeting the guidelines at both time points. Antenatal depressive symptoms were assessed at 32 weeks' gestation, and postpartum depressive symptoms were assessed at 6 and 12 months postpartum using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale. A score of 10 or higher was defined as probable at least minor depression (hereafter, probable depression). RESULTS Nearly one-half of the participants (45.4%) met physical activity guidelines both in early and late pregnancy. Pregnant individuals who met physical activity guidelines at one (adjusted odds ratio, 0.07; 95% confidence interval, 0.01-0.76) or both time points (adjusted odds ratio, 0.08; 95% confidence interval, 0.01-0.69) during pregnancy had lower odds of probable depression at 6 months postpartum than individuals who never met physical activity guidelines during pregnancy. No significant associations were found between prenatal physical activity and probable antenatal or postpartum depression at 12 months. CONCLUSIONS Antenatal physical activity was associated with lower odds of probable depression at 6 months after childbirth. Physicians should use evidence-based strategies to encourage pregnant people, especially those who are at risk for postpartum depression, to meet physical activity guidelines.

Abstract
Introduction There is a linear association between pregestational body mass index (BMI) and almost all adverse pregnancy outcomes. Pregnancy is "a window of opportunities" in terms of changing behavior and improving awareness of healthy living. The proper assessment of physical activity levels, during pregnancy, determines trends, health benefits, and their effects over time. This study aims to describe maternal physical activity levels, stratified by pregestational BMI, verify the accomplishment of physical activity recommendations in pregnant women, and correlate pregestational BMI and physical activity accomplishment with maternal, delivery, and neonatal parameters. Methods A retrospective cohort study was carried out with 103 pregnant women. Physical activity levels were evaluated using a questionnaire and accelerometry. Pregestational BMI was obtained through the Quetelet formula and used the American College of Sports Medicine's guidelines were used to determine physical activity accomplishment levels. Continuous data were presented as mean and standard deviation and categorical data as numbers and percentages. The F test was used to examine the differences between groups. Results Pregnant women in the sample spent 42.9% of their time on household activities, and for pregnant women with obesity, 91.5% of the time was spent on sedentary activities. Women with normative BMI had higher levels of moderate-intensity activities. Only 15.8% of participants with obesity reached the international recommendations for physical activity practice and women who accomplished physical activity recommendations gained less weight during pregnancy. A high percentage of pre-obesity and obese pregnant women exceeded the recommendations for gestational weight gain and the gestational diabetes prevalence was higher in the obesity group (p = 0.03 between groups). Regarding delivery and neonatal parameters (Apgar score 1st, Apgar score 5th, birth weight, length and head circumference), no statistical differences were found when adjusted to a gestational week at birth, between BMI (p = 0.58; p = 0.18; p = 0.60; p = 0.34; p = 0.34, respectively) or physical activity (p = 0.12; p = 0.15; p = 0.83; p = 0.70; p = 0.70, respectively) groups. Conclusion Pregnant women with obesity, exhibit high levels of sedentary behavior, a high prevalence of gestational diabetes, and exceed recommended gestational weight gain. Healthcare professionals have a crucial role in promoting regular physical activity and lifestyle changes before and during pregnancy.

Abstract
PURPOSE Pregorexia is a phenomenon posited to occur in the peripartum, characterized by an attempt to counter pregnancy's physiological changes in body shape through reduced calorie intake or increased physical activity. METHODS In this pre-registered systematic review and meta-analysis, body image dissatisfaction and eating psychopathology in the peripartum according to gestational age were formally assessed. PubMed was searched up to May 2023. Selection criteria were represented by studies on body image concerns or eating psychopathology in the peripartum (up to 1 year after delivery). The population needed to include women from the general population or among patients with a history of (or current) eating disorder. For the meta-analysis, 17 studies were included: 10 for body image dissatisfaction (2625 individuals overall), 7 for eating behaviors (2551 individuals overall). The interplay between body image and the following themes was examined in depth: the adoption of breastfeeding, peripartum depression, sociocultural influences on body image, sexual disturbances, experiencing or reporting an altered food intake. RESULTS Progressive dissatisfaction with body image during pregnancy by gestational age was observed, stably elevated for at least 12 months postpartum. Eating psychopathology was observed as elevated only at 12 months in the postpartum, but not during pregnancy. DISCUSSION The current work offers normative values of body image satisfaction and eating psychopathology in the peripartum by gestational age. The relevance of current results was discussed, in order to inform both current clinical practice and future public policies. Abstract
BACKGROUND The lockdown linked to COVID-19 was shown to have negative effects on healthy behaviors in the general population, prompting the implementation of adapted public health measures. However, more vulnerable populations, such as pregnant women, were not specifically taken into account. At the time of writing this study, we know little about how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the physical activity (PA) behavior of pregnant women in France. Given the many reports in the literature about women's low level of PA throughout pregnancy and the negative effects of the COVID-19 lockdown on behaviors in the general population; however, we might assume that their sedentary behaviors increased. The current study aimed to analyze the French recommendations and PA promotion among pregnant women. MATERIALS AND METHODS A literature search was done using PubMed for the key terms "physical activity/physical activity promotion," "pregnant women/pregnancy,", and "French population/France." All the relevant studies were included to support the argument for this narrative review. RESULTS Efforts to promote PA for pregnant women often seem ineffective and even unrealistic, and many women become overweight or obese during pregnancy. Health professionals need evidence-based guidelines and continuous training and skills development in order to convincingly encourage women to be more active during pregnancy and the postpartum period. CONCLUSION Health policies should strengthen PA promotion among pregnant women with detailed evidence-based guidelines on PA during postpartum.

Abstract
In the absence of medical contraindications, physical activity (PA) can offer health maternal and fetal health outcomes during pregnancy. However, most pregnant women may not consider PA to be feasible, suitable and safe. Hence, it is essential to determine the prevalence of pregnant women who meet the PA recommendations and the possible factors associated with that meeting, since it might be important from the perspective of pregnant women's health. The aim of the present study was to establish the prevalence of meeting the World Health Organization PA recommendations for Colombian pregnant women, as well as possible factors that may be associated with meeting that recommendations. A cross-sectional study including representative data from the National Nutritional Situation Survey (2015) in Colombia was performed. Data were collected in 2015-2016. From an initial sample of 1140 Colombian pregnant women, 702 participants with complete data were included in the final analysis. PA was assessed by self-reported information through the long version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire. Several potential factors were analysed according to four levels of the socioecological model: the individual, interpersonal, organizational and community levels. The prevalence of Colombian pregnant women who met with the PA recommendations was 7.5%. Indigenous and Mestizo pregnant women showed lower probabilities of meeting the PA recommendations [Indigenous: OR 0.05, 95% CI (0.01-0.18); Mestizo: OR 0.12, 95% CI (0.06-0.22)] than Afro-Colombian participants. Additionally, participants who lived near green and safe spaces for PA were more likely to meet the PA recommendations [OR 2.30, 95% CI (1.06-4.79)] than those who did not live near green areas. In conclusion, a low percentage of Colombian pregnant women met the new PA recommendations. The associations found according to race/ethnicity and living near green and safe areas underline the presence of fundamental disparities associated with meeting PA recommendations.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To examine the influence of physical activity before and during pregnancy on maternal mental health outcomes. METHODS Ten electronic databases were searched up to May 11, 2021. Studies of all observational designs (except case studies and reviews) were included, which contained information on the relevant population (women before and or during pregnancy), exposures (objective or subjective measures of physical activity), comparator (low or no physical activity), and outcomes (diagnosis and symptom severity of depression or anxiety, quality of life scores, stress and emotions). RESULTS Forty-four observational studies (N = 132,399) were included. 'Low' to 'very low' certainty evidence revealed that compared with low levels of PA during pregnancy, high levels of PA were associated with a reduced odds of developing prenatal depression (odds ratio (OR): 0.68, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.58 to 0.80) and anxiety (OR: 0.67, 95% CI: 0.54 to 0.83). We also found a reduction in the severity of prenatal depressive symptoms (standardized mean difference (SMD): -0.37, 95% CI -0.57 to -0.17), prenatal anxiety symptoms (SMD: -0.45, 95% CI -0.64 to -0.27), and prenatal stress (SMD: -0.33, 95% CI -0.55 to -0.11), concurrent with improved quality of life (SMD: 0.38, 95% CI 0.23 to 0.54). PA before pregnancy did not impact the outcomes of interest. CONCLUSION Physical activity during pregnancy is associated with a reduction in the odds and severity of prenatal depression and anxiety, as well as reduced stress and improved quality of life. Abstract
Adverse childhood experiences such as abuse, neglect, and poverty, profoundly alter neurobehavioral development in a manner that negatively impacts health across the lifespan. Adults who have been exposed to such adversities exhibit premature and more severe age-related declines in brain health. Unfortunately, it remains unclear whether the negative effects of early life adversity (ELA) on brain health can be remediated through intervention in adulthood. Physical activity may represent a low-cost behavioral approach to address the long-term consequences of ELA on brain health. However, there has been limited research examining the impact of physical activity on brain health among adults with a history of ELA. Accordingly, the purpose of this review is to (1) review the influence of ELA on brain health in adulthood and (2) highlight evidence for the role of neurotrophic factors, hypothalamic-adrenal-pituitary axis regulation, inflammatory processes, and epigenetic modifications in mediating the effects of both ELA and physical activity on brain health outcomes in adulthood. We then propose a theoretical framework to guide future research in this area.

Abstract
Low levels of physical activity (PA) are of a health concern among high body mass index (BMI) women living a sedentary lifestyle and being overweight or obese during pregnancy is associated with increased risks of maternal and fetal health complications. Obstetricians often provide advice regarding recommended PA levels, yet this has not been easily achieved in this group to prevent adverse birth-related outcomes. The purpose of this study is to explore motivators/enablers and perceived barriers through in-depth qualitative inquiry, guided by a behavioral change model, for understanding of pregnant women's decisions to engage, or refrain from PA practice. Thirteen overweight and obese pregnant women aged 28 to 45 years with an inactive, sedentary lifestyle in urban areas of northern Taiwan were recruited to participate in six focus group sessions for their intent and readiness for PA engagement in pregnancy. A thematic content analysis was performed with a constant comparison method to categorize interview data and generate themes. The findings illustrate the extent to which obese and overweight pregnant women's readiness for PA is affected by multiple factors, including personal beliefs, perceived societal norms, peer support, and the competing priorities in the environment. PA interventions are to be effective by focusing on overcoming barriers, increasing motivations, and enhancing self-management. Strategies shared by participants shed lights for program developers to design preferable behavioral interventions for this group of women who are low self-esteem with low self-efficacy to increase PA and meet recommended levels. There is considerable potential for health care providers to provide accessible information, facilitate PA, and promote an active lifestyle during and after pregnancy.
