Abstract
The authors have developed a sensitive spectrophotometric method for determination of sulfonamide derivatives such as sulfanilamide (SAA), sulfadiazine (SDZ), sulfacetamide (SCT) sulfamethoxazole (SMX), sulfamerazine (SMR), sulfadimethoxine (SDX), sulfamethiazole (SMT) and Sulfathiazole (STZ). This method is based on the Bratton-Marshall reaction, which involves the diazotization of sulfonamides with sodium nitrite under acidic conditions, followed by coupling with N-(1-naphtyl) ethylenediamine dihydrochloride (NED) to form a pink colored compound. Therefore, the Bratton-Marshall method was modified by optimizing the reaction conditions, which allows us to determine a low concentration range of sulfonamides compared to the reported methods. The limits of detection and quantification obtained were 0.019-0.05 and 0.06-0.16μgmL-1, respectively. In comparison with other reported methods using different coupling agents, the proposed method was found to be the most simple and sensitive for sulfonamides determination. In this paper, the modified method was successfully employed for the determination of sulfonamides in drinking water, seawater and pharmaceutical and veterinary formulations. The purpose of this work is to optimize and develop a simple method for extraction and concentration of sulfonamides present as residues in seawater and their quantification with the recommended spectrophotometric method. Solid phase extraction (SPE) of sulfonamides from seawater samples was evaluated using Oasis HLB cartridges (3mL, 540mg). The recovery efficiency was investigated in the sulfonamides concentration range comprised between 0.19 and 126ngmL-1. The ease of use of this extraction method makes it very useful for routine laboratory work.

Abstract
Abstract
A sensitive, simple and rapid spectrophotometric procedure for the assay of trace quantities of sulfadiazine (SDZ) drug as bulk and in diluted solution is characterized. The procedure depends on the diazotization reaction which is produced by coupling SDZ with (4-amino-2-hydroxy acetophenon) (AHA) to produce an intense colored complex spectrophotometrically determined at 410 nm. Beer’s law was applied in the range of concentration 0.5 - 15 ppm; the molar absorptivity and Sandell’s sensitivity were 2.8484 × 104 L mol-1 cm-1 and 0.008 μg cm-2 respectively. The method limit of detection (LOD) was 0.443 μg mL-1 and LOQ (the method limit of quantitation) was 0.249 μg mL-1. The procedure is not based on solvent extraction and the additives and excipients do not significantly influence the developed procedure.

Abstract
Water pollution due to organic compounds is of great concern and efforts are being made to develop efficient adsorbents for remediation of toxic pollutants. The development of new functionalized materials with increased performance is growing to meet the regulatory standards in response to public concerns for environment. In this study, an attempt has been made to investigate the influence of synthesis parameters like the reaction temperature, the surfactant-to-silica ratio and reaction time on the structural and textural properties of novel ordered mesoporous silica hybrids. In order to understand the effect of different synthesis parameters, all the prepared materials were systematically characterized by various analytical, spectroscopic and imaging techniques such as XRD, BET, TG etc. It was deduced from these studies that the synthesis temperature influence greatly the structural order whereas both the P104/Na2SiO3 molar ratio and reaction time found to influence textural properties significantly. However, under optimized experimental condition, we could achieve the functionalized silica hybrids that offers successful incorporation of -Amino, -Glucidoxy, -Methacrylate, -Vinyl and -Phenyl moieties indicated by FTIR peaks at 793 cm−1, 2870 cm−1, 796 cm−1, 1630 cm−1 and 954 cm−1. XRD studies reveal orthorhombic and tetragonal symmetry for the hybrids and these materials were found to be thermally stable due to incorporation of organic moiety in silica matrix. Functionalized silica hybrids then applied as adsorbents demonstrated efficient and comparable removal of 4-aminophenol and p-nitrophenol in 20 min facilitated through organic moiety. Detailed modeling of the sorption using equilibrium and kinetic isotherms has been carried out to get an insight into the transport process. The adsorption isotherms of phenol derivatives are well-fitted with the Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin Isotherms and the adsorption kinetics follows the pseudo second order model. The modeling confirms that the uptake is a chemisorption process.

Abstract
A new, simple, rapid and sensitive flow injection spectrophotometric method was developed for the screening and determination of sulphonamides in bovine milk samples. The method is based on the condensation of sulphathiazole, sulphamethazine, and sulphadimethoxine with p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde (p-DAB) in acid medium, in the presence of sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS), producing a yellow compound (λmax=465 nm). Optimisation of the experimental parameters was performed using a multivariate methodology. The linear range was 90-500 μg/L and the limits of detection and quantification were in the ranges 25-29 μg/L and 84-88 μg/L, respectively. The procedure was applied for the determination of sulphonamide antibiotics in bovine milk samples submitted to a prior extraction procedure based on QuEChERS (Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged and Safe) methodology. Recoveries of 60.5-70.5% were achieved for milk samples spiked with 0.09, 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3 μg/g of each sulphonamide.

Abstract
Spectrophotometric methods are proposed for the determination of drugs containing a phenol group [salbutamol sulphate (SLB), ritodrine hydrochloride (RTD), isoxsuprine hydrochloride (IXP)] and drugs containing an aromatic amine group [dapsone hydrochloride (DAP), sulfamethoxazole (SFM), and sulfadiazine (SFD)] in pharmaceutical dosage forms. The methods are based on coupling of N, N-diethyl-p-phenylenediamine sulphate with the drugs in the presence of KIO4 to give a green colored product (λmax at 670 nm) and a red colored product (λmax at 550 nm), respectively. Linear relationships with good correlation coefficients (0.9986-0.9996) were found between absorbance and the corresponding concentration of drugs in the range 1-7, 2-22, 1-17, 1.5-12, 2-25, and 2-21 μg mL-1 for SLB, RTD, IXP, DAP, SFM and SFD, respectively. Variable parameters such as temperature, reaction time and concentration of the reactants have been analyzed and optimized. The RSD of intra-day and inter-day studies was in the range of 0.2-1.0 and 0.4-1.0%, respectively. No interference was observed from common pharmaceutical adjuvants. The reliability and performance of the proposed methods was validated statistically; the percentage recovery ranged from 99.5 ± 0.1 to 99.9 ± 0.3%. Limits of detection were 0.14, 0.21, 0.51, 0.44, 0.33 and 0.37 μg mL-1 for SLB, RTD, IXP, DAP, SFM, and SFD, respectively.

Abstract
In the title compound, C(11)H(11)ClN(4)O(3)S, the S atom is bonded in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry, by two O atoms, a C atom of the benzene ring and an amino N atom. The essentially planar pyrimidine ring [maximum deviation = 0.020 (1) Å] forms a dihedral angle of 87.57 (5)° with the benzene ring. In the crystal structure, pairs of mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds to generate centrosymmetric R(2) (2)(8) ring motifs. In addition, mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional extended network by inter-molecular N-H⋯N, N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Abstract
A new, simple and sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of some sulfonamide drugs has been developed. The method is based on the diazotization of sulfacetamide, sulfadiazine, sulfaguanidine, sulfamerazine, sulfamethazine, sulfamethoxazole, and their coupling with 8-hydroxyquinoline in alkaline media to yield red coloured products with absorption maxima at 500 nm. Beer's law is obeyed from 0.1-7.0 microg mL-1. The limits of quantification and limits of detection were 0.11-0.18 and 0.03-0.05 microg mL-1, respectively. Intraday precision (RSD 0.1-0.5%) and accuracy (recovery 97.3--100.8%) of the developed method were evaluated. No interference was observed from common adjuvants. The method has been successfully applied to the assay of sulpha drug in pharmaceutical formulations.

Abstract
A rapid, sensitive and selective spectrophotometric method has been developed for the quantitative determination of dapsone (DAP) and metoclopramide hydrochloride (MCP) in both pure and dosage forms. Individual and simultaneous methods are based on the diazo coupling reaction of these drugs with benzoylacetone (BAC) in alkaline medium. The resulting azo dyes exhibit maximum absorption at 437 and 411 nm with a molar absorptivity of 4.14x10(4) and 2.97x10(4) l mol-1 cm-1 for DAP and MCP, respectively. Simultaneous determination of DAP and MCP was developed utilizing first-order digital derivative spectrophotometry. All variables have been optimized. No interferences were observed from drug excipients and the validity of the methods was tested against reference methods.
