Abstract
Tannic acid (TA), as a stabilizing agent, was successfully utilized to establish blue-emitting copper nanoclusters (TA-Cu NCs) on the basis of a facile chemical reduction preparation method. Characterization results proved successful synthesis of TA-Cu NCs with uniform size and excellent stability. TA-Cu NCs exhibited a blue emission wavelength at 431 nm when excited at 364 nm. Interestingly, the as-prepared TA-Cu NCs were selectively quenched by furazolidone based on static quenching. In addition, this analysis platform for furazolidone detection had an excellent linear range from 0.5 to 120 μM with a detection limit of 0.074 μM (S/N = 3). Furthermore, the accuracy of this sensing method was successfully confirmed by detecting furazolidone in bovine serum samples, indicating that TA-Cu NCs had bright application prospects.

Determination of Nitrofuran Metabolites in Complex Food Matrices Using a Rough, Cheap, Easy-Made Wooden-Tip-Based Solid-Phase Microextraction Probe and LC-MS/MS. J CHEM-NY 2022. Abstract
In this study, a rough, cheap, easy-made wooden-tip-based solid-phase microextraction (SPME) probe was first developed for simultaneous determination of 4 nitrofuran metabolite derivatives in complex food matrices via LC-MS/MS. A simple dip-coating method was used to coat wooden tips with biocompatible polyacrylonitrile (PAN) and N-vinylpyrrolidone-co-divinylbenzene, also known as HLB particles, which served as the extractive substrate in the proposed device. Compared with the traditional solid-phase extraction (SPE) method, the proposed device shortens sample clean-up time, reduces solvent consumption, and decreases testing costs. In addition, the main parameters affecting the SPME procedure efficiency were investigated in detail and the optimal conditions were found. The method was validated using three different food matrixes (pork, croaker, and honey) by spiking with the four metabolites at 0.5, 1.0, and 5.0 μg/kg, as well as their internal standards. The average recovery of all nitrofuran metabolite derivatives ranges from 97.4–109.5% (pork), 87.5–112.7% (croaker), and 98.6–109.0% (honey). Relative standard deviations were all <10% for intraday and interday precision. The values of limit of detection and limit of quantification were, respectively, ranging from 0.011 to 0.123 and 0.033 to 0.369 μg/kg (pork), 0.009 to 0.112 and 0.027 to 0.339 μg/kg (croaker), and 0.010 to 0.131 and 0.030 to 0.293 μg/kg (honey). The presented method was applied to the analysis of real positive samples.

Abstract
In this work, blue emission fluorescent carbon dots (CDs) were fabricated by using the hydrothermal strategy from coix seed for the first time. We found that the prepared CDs possessed many excellent characteristics including excitation-dependent properties, good solubility and strong photostability. The optimal excitation and emission wavelength of CDs were 363 and 435 nm, respectively. Unbelievably, the fluorescence of CDs was selectively and effectively quenched with the addition of furazolidone (Fu). The quenching mechanisms might be assumed to the static quenching and inner filter effect (IFE). Based on this principle, a novel fluorescence probe was developed for the determination of Fu. At the same time, the proposed probe showed excellent sensitivity and selectivity towards Fu with a wide linear range from 0.5 to 100 μM, and the corresponding detection limit was 0.096 μM. Moreover, the CDs also could be applied for the sensing of temperature. The practical application of the CDs for Fu detection in real samples was also confirmed with the satisfactory recoveries changing from 96.6% to 108.5%, which provided huge possibility in the field of medical analysis.

Abstract
Herein, a facile, straightforward and green method was developed to prepare copper nanoclusters by using glutathione (GSH) as the protecting agent and ascorbic acid as the reducing agent. The glutathione-templated copper nanoclusters (GSH-Cu NCs) were characterized through fluorescence spectroscopy, UV-vis absorption spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and fluorescence lifetime analysis. The as-synthesized Cu NCs showed blue fluorescence with a peak centered at 426 nm. The Cu NCs had excellent water solubility, stability and dispersibility. Based on the inner filter effect and static quenching mechanism, Cu NCs were employed to detect furazolidone in bovine serum samples. Under optimal detection conditions, a good linear relationship was observed between F0/F and the furazolidone concentration from 0.05 to 60 μM. The detection limit (LOD) was 0.012 μM. Furthermore, the fluorescence probe was successfully used in the quantification of furazolidone in bovine serum samples. In addition, this analytical method provides a rapid, easy and ultrasensitive fluorescence platform for the detection of furazolidone.

Abstract
A simplified method is described for reducing the analysis time of nitrofurans (NFs) and nitrofuran metabolites (NFMs) in the aquatic animals. Most existing HPLC-MS/MS methods are intended only for NFMs and are based on their fast metabolic transformations. We optimized a method for simultaneously detecting major NFs and their metabolites, including nitrovin (NV) that imply use of an optimized buffer solution. The novel method was validated by six different aquatic animal matrices (loach, catfish, shrimp, lobster, scallop, and eel) spiked with the analytes at 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 μg kg-1. Recovery rates and %RSDs (relative standard deviations) of 82-97% and 1-8% were observed for NFMs, respectively, with values of 70-96% and 1-8% obtained for furazolidone, furaltadone, nitrofurazone, nitrofurantoin, and NV, respectively. Linearity was observed in the 0.1-20 μg L-1 range, with correlation coefficients greater than 0.99 recorded for all compounds. The developed method is sensitive, accurate, easier to use, and faster than previous methods when applied to real samples. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first method that can simultaneously determine NFs and their metabolites, as well as NV, using a single-step extraction process.

Abstract
The development of analytical strategies for the regulatory control of drug residues in food-producing animals is discussed. Analytical methods for the determination of veterinary drugs in edible products are based on microbiological, immunochemical and physicochemical principles. Because of complexity of biological matrices such as egg, milk and meat, well designed, and often sophisticated, off-line or on-line sample treatment procedures are essential, especially when utilising physicochemical multi-residue screening procedures. Since large series of samples have often to be analysed, automation is increasingly becoming important. Confirmation of the identity of drug residues and validation of the analytical results implies the use of adequate analytical methods. In its turn, this requires well established criteria for those methods and/or equivalent reference methods.

Abstract
Rapid and complete postmortal degradation of furazolidone and furaltadone occurred in liver, kidney and muscle tissues of veal calves. Different degradation half-lives were observed between these tissues, the mean ranging from less than 7 minutes to 63 minutes. At 24 h after slaughter the parent nitrofurans were no longer detectable in edible tissues. For residue monitoring purposes plasma and/or urine can be used, if these matrices are treated in a specific way immediately after slaughter; muscle tissues and organs are unsuitable for residue monitoring of parent nitrofurans.
