We demonstrate that
aryltriazenes can promote three distinctive
types of C–H functionalization reactions, allowing the preparation
of complex benzene molecules with diverse substitution patterns. 2-Triazenylbenzaldehydes
are shown to be efficient substrates for Rh(I)-catalyzed intermolecular
alkyne hydroacylation reactions. The resulting triazene-substituted
ketone products can then undergo either a Rh(III)-catalyzed C–H
activation, or an electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction, achieving
multifunctionalization of the benzene core. Subsequent triazene derivatization
provides traceless products.

Abstract
A novel method for the synthesis of para-substituted phenylalanine containing cyclic peptides is described. The main features of this strategy are the coupling of phenylalanine to the solid support through its side chain via a triazene linkage, on-resin cyclization of the peptide chain, cleavage of the cyclic peptide from the resin under mild acidic conditions and further transformation of the resulting diazonium salt. The usefulness of this approach is exemplified by the solid-phase synthesis of some derivatives of the naturally occurring cyclic depsipeptide zygosporamide.

Abstract
Numerous developments in useful linkers are closely related with the advances in solid-phase organic synthesis. These linkers allow facile attachment functionalization and release molecules of interest. Designing a new anchoring group can be essential for synthesis success, especially for small molecules on solid supports. Many novel linkers have recently been developed. Traceless linkers can be excised efficiently and quantitatively when desired while leaving behind no trace of the solid-phase synthesis. However, multi-functional cleavage allows the introduction of new functionalities during cleavage from the resin.

Abstract
With the implementation of combinatorial chemistry into the modern drug discovery process, the approach to novel diverse heterocycle libraries is an indispensable requirement. Triazenes, which are concealed diazonium salts, can be used to link functionalized arenes and amines to generate various heterocyclic structures, namely, benzoannelated nitrogen heterocycles, upon cleavage from the resin. Since triazene anchors are stable toward various reagents and perform well under a range of reaction conditions, these multifunctional linkers are well suited for automated solid-phase syntheses and the syntheses of complex organic molecules, such as natural products, on solid supports.

Abstract
The acid lability of electron-rich N-benzylanilines has been exploited in a linker for the traceless solid-phase synthesis of benzimidazoles, 2-aminobenzimidazoles, quinoxalinones and tetrahydroquinoxalines. The target compound precursors were assembled on a solid-phase support derivatized with either a benzylamine or a benzhydrylamine linker. Exposure to an acidic reagent caused cleavage of the C(benzyl)-N(aniline) bond, releasing the product with only a hydrogen atom on the descending nitrogen. The Encore technique for directed sorting on SynPhase Lanterns has been developed and applied to combinatorial synthesis of generic drug discovery libraries.
