Abstract
Nowadays, the most important aspect related to the use of dietary supplements seems to be their quality. There are many reports indicating their insufficient quality primarily related to a much lower content of ingredients or even their absence. Currently, there is an increasing interest in supplementing the diet with various kinds of supplements, including those containing combinations of vitamins and minerals, among which preparations with vitamin D are very popular. This is probably due to the reduced production of this vitamin, depending on the amount of time spent in the sun and the use of UV-filters. Very often, preparations with cholecalciferol also contain vitamin K2, which is associated with their synergistic effect. Therefore, the question arises about the effectiveness of supplementation, which may be correlated with the quality of commonly available dietary supplements. In the presented work, it was undertaken to develop optimal conditions for the qualitative and quantitative determination of vitamins D2, D3 and K2 in dietary supplements available in various forms, using thin-layer chromatography with densitometric detection. As a result, the methodology for analyzing the content of three vitamins from various matrices was developed, optimized and validated in accordance with ICH requirements. The obtained results allow us to conclude that it is reliable and meets the requirements for analytical procedures used in the analysis of medicinal products. Based on the results obtained for examined dietary supplements, it can be stated that the amount of vitamin D3 in analyzed products is basically similar to that declared by the manufacturer, in contrast to vitamin K2, the content of which is diverse. The developed methodology seems to be a good, low-cost and quick way to control the quality of dietary supplements so that they can supplement the human diet and be a wholesome product.

Abstract
Menadione (VK3), an essential fat-soluble naphthoquinone, takes very important physiological and pathological roles, but its detection and quantification is challenging. Herein, a new method was developed for quantification of VK3 in human plasma by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) after derivatization with 3-mercaptopropionic acid via Michael addition reaction. The derivative had been identified by the mass spectra and the derivatization conditions were optimized by considering different parameters. The method was demonstrated with high sensitivity and a low limit of quantification of 0.03 ng mL(-1) for VK3, which is about 33-fold better than that for the direct analysis of the underivatized compound. The method also had good precision and reproducibility. It was applied in the determination of basal VK3 in human plasma and a clinical pharmacokinetic study of menadiol sodium diphosphate. Furthermore, the method for the quantification of VK3 using LC-MS/MS was reported in this paper for the first time, and it will provide an important strategy for the further research on VK3 and menadione analogs.

Abstract
Quinones are widely distributed in nature and have various bioactivities. Besides, quinones are also considered as toxicological intermediates which cause severe dangerous effects. Hereby, a sensitive, simple, and rapid method is reported for quinones determination. The proposed method employed time resolved fluorescence (TRF) microplate reader based chemiluminescent (CL) detection for the first time as a novel approach for measurement. Under pulse photo-irradiation, the unique photochemical characteristic of quinones is exploited to liberate reactive oxygen species (ROS) which reacted with photosensitized CL reagent. L-012, luminol analogue, was selected for its high sensitivity. Under our investigation, para-quinones showed high CL response when compared to ortho-quinones. A linear response was obtained for studied quinone concentrations in the range of 0.05-50 μM for 1,4-naphthquinone and of 0.05-150 μM for 2-methyl-1,4-naphthoquinone (menadione) and 9,10-anthraquinone with detection limit (blank + 3SD) of 0.01 μM. The proposed method allowed the rapid determination of large number of samples in very short time (96 sample/125 s). The proposed method was successfully applied for determination of menadione in spiked human serum.

Abstract
A rapid, simple and sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of some sulfa drugs is described. The method is based on the formation of orange yellow colored azo product by the diazotization of sulfonamides, viz., dapsone (DAP), sulfathiazole (SFT), sulfadiazine (SFD), sulfacetamide (SFA), sulfamethoxazole (SFMx), sulfamerazine (SFMr), sulfaguanidine (SFG) and sulfadimidine (SFDd) followed by a coupling reaction with 3-aminophenol in aqueous medium. Absorbance of the resulting orange yellow product is measured at 460 nm and is stable for 6 days at 27 degrees C. Beer's law is obeyed in the concentration range of 0.05-8.0 microg/ml at the wavelength of maximum absorption. The method is successfully employed for the determination of sulfonamides in various pharmaceutical preparations and common excipients used as additives in pharmaceuticals do not interfere in the proposed method. Plausible reaction mechanism is proposed for the formation of the azo product.

Abstract
A simple, sensitive and selective spectrophotometric method for the determination of indomethacin (INM) either in pure form or in capsules is described. The method is based on the coupling reaction of hydrolyzed INM with diazotized p-phenylenediamine dihydrochloride (PPDD) in sulphuric acid medium to give a red coloured product having the absorption maximum at 510 nm. The product is stable for 20 h. Beer's law is obeyed in the concentration range of 0.2-10 microg/ml. Results of the proposed method compare favourably with those of the official methods and offer the merits of sensitivity and stability. Common excipients used as additives in pharmaceutical preparations do not interfere in the proposed method.

Abstract
Novel coupling reagents are used for the simple and sensitive spectrophotometric determination of folic acid either in pure form or in its pharmaceutical preparations. The methods are based on the probable diazotization of the p-aminobenzoylglutamic acid obtained after reductive clevage of folic acid, followed by either coupling with iminodibenzyl to give a violet product with lambda(max) of 580nm or coupling with 3-aminophenol to produce an orange yellow-colored product with lambda(max) of 460nm. Sodium molybdate and pyrocatechol are used in the third method and the pale red-colored product formed has a lambda(max) of 490nm. The methods are highly reproducible and have been applied to the determination of folic acid in tablets and the results compare favorably with the official method. Common excipients used as additives in pharmaceutical preparations do not interfere in the proposed methods.
