Abstract
A concerted five-component reaction strategy has been developed, featuring double [3+2] cycloadditions utilizing aspartic acid. This approach provides valuable insights into mechanistic pathways, allowing for the distinction between concerted and stepwise processes based on reaction efficiency and diastereoselectivity. Both aspartic and glutamic acids have been employed for a thorough evaluation and exploration of decarboxylation-driven double annulations. This method effectively constructs pyrrolizidine frameworks through a concerted double 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition with aspartic acid, as well as tetrahydropyrrolizinones via three-component double annulations, which include decarboxylative 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition and lactamization with glutamic acid. These highly convergent, decarboxylation-driven multicomponent reactions (MCRs) efficiently produce fused polyheterocyclic systems while being environmentally friendly, generating only CO2 and water as byproducts.

Abstract
The synthesis of pyrrolidine compounds with biological interest is an active research topic. Glycine could be a versatile starting material for making pyrrolidine derivatives. This review covers recent works on glycine-based [3+2] cycloaddition and combines other annulation reactions in the one-pot synthesis of pyrrolidine-containing heterocyclic compounds. Synthetic method development, substrate scope, and reaction mechanisms are discussed. Applications of the compounds in drug discovery are briefly mentioned. This paper is helpful for chemists in the development of efficient and sustainable methods for the preparation of bioactive pyrrolidine compounds.

Abstract
An unprecedented five-component [2 + 2 + 1 + 1] benzannulation strategy for regioselective assembly of densely functionalized aromatic amines from two ynals, two malononitriles, and sodium sulfinates is established. The benzannulation protocol enables the efficient installation of five substituents on a benzene ring via the formation of multiple chemical bonds in a single operation, providing various multifunctionalized aromatic primary amines in moderate to good yields. Additionally, three-component [3 + 2 + 1] cycloaddition of malononitriles, ynals, and NH4SCN was also achieved to produce 2-amnopyridine derivatives with NH4SCN serving as an ammonia surrogate.

Abstract
The [3 + 2] cycloadditions of stabilized azomethine ylides (AMYs) derived from amino esters are well-established. However, the reactions of semi-stabilized AMYs generated from decarboxylative condensation of α-amino acids with arylaldehydes are much less explored. The [3 + 2] adducts of α-amino acids could be used for a second [3 + 2] cycloaddition as well as for other post-condensation modifications. This article highlights our recent work on the development of α-amino acid-based [3 + 2] cycloaddition reactions of N-H-type AMYs in multicomponent, one-pot, and stepwise reactions for the synthesis of diverse heterocycles related to some bioactive compounds and natural products.

Abstract
A novel four-component reaction in one pot as an atom- and step-economic process was developed to synthesize diastereoselectively spirooxindolepyrrolothiazoles through sequential N,S-acetalation of aldehydes with cysteine and decarboxylative [3 + 2] cycloaddition with olefinic oxindoles. High synthetic efficiency, operational simplification and reaction process economy using EtOH as solvent, and only releasing CO2 and H2O as side products confer this approach favorable in green chemistry metrics analysis.

Abstract
1,3-Dipolar cycloaddition of nonstabilized azomethine ylides derived from α-C-H functionalization of tetrahydroisoquinoline for regio- and diastereoselective synthesis of spirooxindole-pyrrolidines is developed. A three-component reaction of readily available cyclic amine, aryl aldehydes, and olefinic oxindoles provides a pot, atom and step economy (PASE) approach for making spiro-heterocyclic compounds with biological interest.
