Abstract
Two novel Pd-catalyzed protocols for the controllable synthesis of benzo[b]furo[2,3-d]azepines and furo[3,2-b]indoles have been developed by intermolecular oxidative annulation of 2-(furan-2-yl)anilines and propargyl carbonates versus intramolecular C-H amination reactions. These two protocols feature great scalability, functional group tolerance, and relatively mild reaction conditions. Notably, the robust methodologies could also provide valuable opportunities for assembling azepine-fused benzothiophene, indole-fused benzothiophene, and indole-fused benzimidazole, which may have potential applications in the synthesis of related pharmaceuticals or polymeric materials.

Abstract
An asymmetric intramolecular spiro-amination to high steric hindering α-C-H bond of 1,3-dicarbonyl via nitrene transfer using inactive aryl azides has been carried out by developing a novel Cp*Ir(III)-SPDO (spiro-pyrrolidine oxazoline) catalyst, thereby enabling the first successful construction of structurally rigid spiro-quaternary indolinone cores with moderate to high yields and excellent enantioselectivities. DFT computations support the presence of double bridging H-F bonds between [SbF6]- and both the ligand and substrate, which favors the plane-differentiation of the enol π-bond for nitrenoid attacking. These findings open up numerous opportunities for the development of new asymmetric nitrene transfer systems.

Abstract
A gold-catalyzed cycloaddition/ring opening of allenamides with quinoline N-oxides has been developed, which provides C2-alkenylated quinolines with high E selectivity in moderate to high yields. It is noted that quinoline N-oxides with a C8 or C7 substituent are crucial for this catalytic reaction.

Abstract
A simple, metal-free approach was developed to obtain novel pseudoindoxyl derivatives. The reaction was mediated by tBuOK on tetrahydrocarbazole 8 in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) at room temperature through the hydroxylation of the indole double bond and a subsequent pinacol-type rearrangement. Spiro pseudoindoxyl compounds and their N-benzylated derivatives were assessed for their inhibitory activities against monoamine oxidase (MAO) enzymes. Based on half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) values, 13 compounds were found to have higher inhibitory activity against MAO-B than against MAO-A. With regard to MAO-B inhibition, 11f showed the best inhibitory activity, with an IC50 value of 1.44 μM, followed by 11h (IC50 = 1.60 μM), 11j (IC50 = 2.78 μM), 11d (IC50 = 2.81 μM), and 11i (IC50 = 3.02 μM). Compound 11f was a competitive inhibitor with a Ki value of 0.51 ± 0.023 μM. In a reversibility experiment using dialysis, 11f showed effective recovery of MAO-B inhibition similar to that of safinamide. These experiments suggested that 11f was a potent, reversible, and competitive inhibitor of MAO-B activity.

Abstract
A simple and efficient approach for the synthesis of 2-spirocyclopropyl-indolin-3-ones is herein described. The method involves a diasteroselective cyclopropanation of aza-aurones with tosylhydrazones, selected as versatile carbene sources, and represents a remarkable synthetic alternative to get access to this class of C2-spiropseudoindoxyl scaffolds. The reactions proceed in the presence of a base and catalytic amounts of benzyl triethylammonium chloride and well-tolerate a broad range of substituents on both aza-aurones and tosylhydrazones to afford a series of C2-spirocyclopropanated derivatives in high yields. In addition, selected functional group transformations of the final products were explored demonstrating the synthetic potential of these indole-based derivatives.

Abstract
The combination of catalytic aqueous hydrochloric acid (HCl) and N-bromosuccinimide (NBS) generated electrophilic bromine monochloride (BrCl), which readily induced spiroannulation of 2-alkynolyl anilides (n = 1-3) to form gem-dibromospirocyclic benzo[d][1,3]oxazines in up to 92% yield. The reaction occurred under mild and metal-free conditions using EtOAc as a green solvent. The resulted spirocyclic products contained benzo[d][1,3]oxazine, which was useful both as a pharmacophore and synthetic precursor. In addition, the current protocol allowed to effortlessly introduce the sp3-gem-dibromide carbon adjacent to the sterically demanding spiroketal center. These spiroheterocycles (n = 1) were shown to be synthetically versatile and conveniently maneuvered. Base-promoted debrominative aromatization of these spirocycles unmasked rare and synthetically useful 2-aryl-3-bromofurans in mostly excellent yields. These 3-bromofurans were well-suited substrates for intramolecular Ullmann C-N bond coupling to construct difficult-to-prepare 4H-furo[3,2-b]indoles. Additionally, the current protocol was flexible and adaptable to preparing the gem-dichloride variants.

Abstract
An intermolecular radical addition, using photoredox catalysis, to allenamides and allencarbamates is reported. This transformation synthesizes N-acyl-N’-aryl-N,N’-allylaminals, and proceeds by a conjugated N-acyliminium intermediate that previously has principally been generated by electrophilic activation methods. The radical adds to the central carbon of the allene giving a conjugated N-acyliminium that undergoes nucleophilic addition by arylamines and alcohols.

Abstract

The synthesis of cyclohepta[b]indole derivatives
through the dearomative (4 + 3) cycloaddition reaction of 2-vinylindoles
or 4H-furo[3,2-b]indoles with in
situ generated oxyallyl cations is reported. Oxyallyl cations are
generated from α-bromoketones in the presence of a base and
a perfluorinated solvent. Cyclohepta[b]indole scaffolds
are obtained under mild reaction conditions, in the absence of expensive
catalysts, starting from simple reagents, in good to excellent yields
and with complete diasteroselectivity. Preliminary expansion of the
scope to 3-vinylindoles and to aza-oxyallyl cations is reported.
