Abstract
2,3-Dihydrobenzofurans are noteworthy scaffolds in organic and medicinal chemistry, constituting the structural framework of many of the varied medicinally active organic compounds. Moreover, a diverse variety of biologically potent natural products also contain this heterocyclic nucleus. Reflecting on the wide biological substantiality of dihydrobenzofurans, several innovative and facile synthetic developments are evolving to achieve these heterocycles. This review summarizes the transition-metal-free, efficient, and novel synthetic pathways toward constructing the dihydrobenzofuran nucleus established after 2020.

Abstract
This study presents the synthesis of novel naphthofurano-iminosugars (4) using 2,3-O-isopropylidene D-ribose tosylate (1a), anilines (2), and 1,4-benzoquinone (3a) as starting materials through key iminium ion/enamine intermediates via [3 + 2] cyclization reactions at room temperature. The reaction has unique regioselectivity and stereoselectivity with moderate to excellent yields. The adaptability of this method has been demonstrated using various substituted anilines, on which both electron-donating and electron-withdrawing groups were well employed in the reactions. Notably, the treatment of the fused multicyclic iminosugar 4 with TFA efficiently leads to an interesting unexpected pyridinium salt (8), possible via four sequential steps: deprotection of the 2,3-O-isopropylidene group, furan ring opening, dehydration condensation of the OH groups, and elimination of water.

Abstract
We have developed a straightforward and efficient synthetic protocol to produce 5,6,7,12-tetrahydrobenzo[2,3]azepino[4,5-b]indole and 7,12-dihydro-6H-benzo[2,3]oxepino[4,5-b]indole derivatives under mild conditions. This annulation process involves the intramolecular cyclization of the in situ generated ketimine moiety via the formation of dihydrospiroindolequinoline, which serves as a key intermediate in the reaction pathway. Several control experiments and spectroscopic studies were performed to elucidate the underlying reaction mechanism.

Abstract
Michael/ammonolysis cascade reactions between cyclohexane-1,3-dione-derived enaminones and olefinic azlactones via phase-transfer catalysis have been developed. This method provides rapid access to a suite of architecturally complex and diverse quinoline-2,5-diones bearing a secondary amide group at the C-3 position in moderate to excellent yields (53-94%) and with excellent diastereoselectivities (>99 : 1 dr in most cases). The achievement of a preparative-scale reaction and the diverse product derivatization that can be obtained highlight the application potential of this protocol both in academic and industrial settings. An investigation of the reaction mechanism implies that tetrabutylammonium hydroxide may be the actual catalyst during this cascade reaction.
