Abstract
A visible-light mediated protocol for the annulative trifluoroethylation, perfluoroalkylation and di/tri-chloromethylation of olefins and alkynes tethered to aromatic rings is described. Both PIDA and diazonium salts can independently promote this transformation by simultaneously acting as both an oxidant and halogen atom transfer reagent. The reaction is applicable to multiple precursor classes, leading to the synthesis of various N- and O-containing ring systems including dihydroisoquinolinones, coumarins, fused benzimidazoles, and quinazolinone. The activation of chloroform and dichloromethane was also achieved by hydrogen atom transfer, displaying a mechanistic dichotomy of aryl radicals.

Abstract
Herein, the development of a light-mediated synthesis of functionalized indolines and tetrahydroquinolines is reported. These structural motifs are considered as highly valuable targets, attributed to their widespread occurrence in pharmaceuticals and natural products. The gold-mediated approach offers a direct route to functionalized indolines in yields of up to 81% under mild photochemical conditions. Thereby, easily accessible Boc-protected N-aryl-allylamine and homoallylamine derivatives were reacted with sp3-hybridized haloalkanes in an intermolecular cascade cyclization reaction. A broad scope of substrates, including a variety of different substituents on the aromatic backbone as well as various haloalkanes, could be utilized. Indoline derivatives, which are functionalized in position 2, are also accessible by applying ortho-allylic anilines. Moreover, the synthetic appeal was demonstrated for a total synthesis of the anti-inflammatory agent AN669 in three reaction steps in an overall yield of 64%.

Abstract
An eco-friendly approach for electrochemical radical cascade annulation of 1,2,3-benzotriazinones with alkynes is described. Under catalyst-free and external reductant-free electrolysis conditions, a range of isoquinolin-1(2H)-ones were obtained in moderate to good yields. Cyclic voltammetry and control studies suggest that the reaction proceeds via a radical pathway. Furthermore, this approach could be easily scaled up.

Abstract
A tandem rhodium(III)-catalyzed system was established to access 3,4-dihydroisoquinolin-1(2H)-one by coupling of N-methoxy-3-methylbenzamide with 2-methylidenetrimethylene carbonate. This one-pot synthesis protocol processed smoothly under mild reaction conditions. Moreover, a total of 28 examples, broad substrate scope, and high functional-group compatibility were observed. Preliminary mechanism studies were also conducted and demonstrated that the rhodium(III) catalyst played a vital role in the C-H-allylation and N-alkylation cyclization process.

Abstract
A simple and highly efficient metal-free method has been developed for hydroxyfluoroalkylation of indoles and imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines via TEMPO-mediated C(sp3)-H and C(sp2)-H bond cross-dehydrogenative coupling of fluorinated alcohols and indoles. The protocol showed broad substrate scope, afforded good yields of hydroxyfluoroalkylated products, and was amenable for scale-up. Mechanistic investigation indicated involvement of the radical pathway.

Abstract
A radical-initiated cascade addition and cyclization of N-allylbenzamides with simple ethers to construct ether-substituted dihydroisoquinolinones was performed in the presence of CuI. The cleavage of the sp3 C-H bond in ether and the sp2 C-H bond in phenyl was involved in this reaction. Moreover, the arylalkylation of N-allylanilines was also realized under similar reaction conditions, providing ether-functionalized indolines in good to moderate yields.

Abstract
A novel and efficient aminomethylation approach has been developed for the regioselective functionalization of imidazoheterocycles under metal-free conditions. A wide range of imidazoheterocycles and 2/4-aminoazaheterocycles successfully provided corresponding aminomethylated imidazoheterocycles in moderate to excellent (33-80%) yields. The isotopic labelling study suggested that TBHP played a dual role as both an oxidant and a methylene source in this transformation. The developed protocol follows a radical pathway which is supported by radical trapping experiments.

Abstract
A visible-light metal-free photocatalytic synthesis of 3-position substituted 3,4-dihydroisoquinolin-1(2H)-one derivatives under mild conditions in moderate to good yields is described. EosinY Na, an organic dye, which is of low cost and has good availability, is used as the photocatalyst. A wide range of substrates are tolerated and the gram-scale reaction can also proceed smoothly. Mechanistic studies indicate that a plausible free radical process is proposed.

Abstract
An oxidative reaction for the synthesis of 4-alkyl-substituted dihydroisoquinolin-1(2H)-ones with N-allylbenzamide derivatives as starting materials has been developed. The radical alkylarylation reaction proceeds through a sequence of alkylation and intramolecular cyclization. The substituent on the C–C double bond was found to play a key role for the progress of the reaction to give the expected products with good chemical yields. Additionally, N-methacryloylbenzamides were also suitable substrates for the current reaction and provided the alkyl-substituted isoquinoline-1,3(2H,4H)-diones in good yield.
