Abstract
We report a two-step sequence for the enantioselective construction of a rare family of stable C(sp2)─C(sp3) atropisomers featuring two additional stereogenic centers. The process begins with an organocatalyzed dihydrobenzofurannulation that establishes and controls the stereochemistry of two carbon centers, followed by a highly diastereoselective functionalization that significantly enhances the barrier to diastereomerization of the C(sp2)─C(sp3) bond, effectively locking and stabilizing its configuration.

Abstract
1,3-Enynes have demonstrated their utility as valuable precursors to furnish a diverse range of heterocycles and carbocycles. Their unique structural characteristics enable a new toolbox to introduce requisite complexity in the molecular framework. Cyclization reaction is usually a simple and straightforward way to afford complex organic frameworks. Herein, we collated versatile cyclization strategies that have been developed by employing 1,3-enynes for the synthesis of heterocyclic and carbocyclic scaffolds. Divergent synthesis and mechanistic perspectives to define stereo-, regio- and chemo-selective outcomes of such reactions have also been highlighted.

Abstract
Benzopyrans (BZPs) are among the most privileged and influential small O-heterocycles that form the core of many natural compounds, commercial drugs, biological compositions, agrochemicals, and functional materials. BZPs are divided into six general categories including coumarins, chromans, 2H-chromenes, 4H-chromenes, chromones, and 4-chromanones, each of which is abundant in many plants and foods. These oxygenated heterocyclic compounds are fascinating motifs and have extensive applications in biology and materials science. Hence, numerous efforts have been made to develop innovative approaches for their extraction and synthesis. However, most of them are step-by-step or multi-step strategies that suffer from waste material generation and a tedious extraction process. Isocyanide-based multicomponent reactions (I-MCRs) offer a highly efficient method for overcoming these problems. The I-MCR is a simple and environmentally friendly one-pot domino procedure that does not require intermediate isolation or workup and is generally more efficient in material usage. This review covers all research articles related to I-MCRs for synthesizing BZP derivatives from the beginning to the middle of the year 2023. This strategy will be useful for organic and pharmaceutical chemists to design new drugs and optimize the synthesis steps of biological compounds and commercial drugs with benzopyran cores.

Abstract
A formal palladium-catalyzed decarboxylative (4+2) cycloaddition reaction between 4-vinylbenzoxazinanones and 2-nitro-1,3-enynes has been developed to produce highly valuable, densely functionalized tetrahydroquinolines in moderate to excellent yields with high diastereoselectivity under mild reaction conditions. The optimised protocol tolerates a range of substituted 2-nitro-1,3-enynes, which represent an under-utilized class of dipolarophile for transition-metal catalyzed cycloadditions. The employed reaction methodology facilitates efficient cycloaddition with both N-H- and N-Ts-4-vinylbenzoxazinanone dipole precursors. The stereochemistry of the major and minor diastereomeric (4+2) cycloadducts was determined by single crystal X-ray analyses. A mechanistic rationale for the high intrinsic diastereoselectivity and preliminary enantioselective experiments are also presented. The tetrahydroquinoline cycloadduct products feature numerous pendant functionalities, including a vinyl handle, an internal alkyne motif and a nitro functionality (which functions as a latent C-3 nitrogen substituent) for further synthetic manipulations.

Abstract
A two-step Pd-catalyzed (3 + 2) cycloaddition/HNO2 elimination reaction sequence has been developed to give novel cyclic 1,3-dien-5-yne systems from Pd-stabilized zwitterionic 1,3-dipoles and 2-nitro-1,3-enyne substrates. The process is highly atom-efficient and tolerates the reaction of 2-vinyloxirane, 1-tosyl-2-vinylaziridine, and diethyl 2-vinylcyclopropane-1,1-dicarboxylate derived 1,3-dipoles with a variety of 2-nitro-1,3-enyne substrates. The stereochemistry of the intermediate (3 + 2) cycloadducts was determined by single crystal X-ray analysis. Furthermore, a selective kinetic elimination of the cycloadduct with an antiperiplanar relationship between the NO2 group and the participating hydrogen was demonstrated, allowing for efficient isolation of a single diastereoisomer of the cycloadduct.

Abstract
A formal reductive [3+2] annulation of 4,4,4-trifluorocrotonate and α-iminoketones was developed under Brønsted base catalysis. A single phosphazene base efficiently catalyzes the one-pot tandem reaction involving two mechanistically different elementary processes, namely the chemoselective reduction of an imine moiety of α-iminoketones with thiols as the reductant and the subsequent intermolecular Michael addition of an enolate of α-aminoketones concomitant with lactam formation. This operationally simple method provides β-trifluoromethyl-substituted γ-lactams with a tetrasubstituted carbon as a single diastereomer.

Abstract
The rapid enantioselective synthesis of valuable building blocks and pharmaceutically important compounds from easily accessible precursors is one of the major areas of focus in organic chemistry. In this context, 2-activated 1,3-enyne has emerged as a powerful synthon in recent years for the efficient synthesis of enantioenriched furans, allenes, 4-H-pyrans, and 4-isoxazolines, which are privileged scaffolds in bioactive compounds and natural products. This review will cover the history of the development of 2-activated 1,3-enyne in enantioselective synthesis along with the corresponding mechanisms, which may motivate further development in this area to forge more complex and valuable molecules.

Abstract
A variety of axially chiral biaryldiols were synthesized in good yields with excellent atropo-enantioselectivities through construction of axially chiral indoles catalyzed by asymmetric hydrogen-bond donors. In addition, the new axially chiral compounds were proved to be efficient and practical catalysts for asymmetric catalysis. The strategy not only provides a novel method to synthesize axially chiral compounds but also extends the scope of chiral catalysts.

Abstract
Reported is the utilization of electronically biased conjugated alkynes in the development of highly diastereo- and regioselective dearomative [2 + 2] cycloadditions, alkenylations, and ring expansions of electron-rich indoles. Regioselective protonations of cross- and linear-conjugated alkynes were found to be crucial for accessing various cyclobutene-fused indoline and alkenylated indole derivatives. Furthermore, the facile ring expansion of [2 + 2] keto adducts, which were successfully synthesized from ynones, provided 1 H-benzo[ b]azepine scaffolds.

Abstract
A novel domino reaction of (2-iminoaryl)divinyl ketones with nitromethane was developed for the efficient synthesis of hexahydrophenanthridin-9(5H)-ones. The reaction proceeded smoothly from readily available starting materials under mild reaction conditions to construct three new bonds and two rings with high diastereoselectivities in good to excellent yields in a single step. A mechanism is proposed, involving a stepwise double Michael addition/aza-Henry reaction cascade, and in this transformation, nitromethane acts as a trinucleophile.

Abstract
Here we describe the divergent, biosynthetically inspired syntheses of (±)-rhodonoids C-G and (±)-ranhuadujuanine B. The key steps of the syntheses include the construction of the chromene unit through a formal oxa-[3 + 3] annulation and a biomimetic acid-catalyzed ring cyclization. Cationic [2 + 2] cycloaddition is accomplished to form the cyclobutane core of (±)-rhodonoids E and F.

Abstract
The asymmetric organocatalyzed diversity-oriented one-pot synthesis has been developed to construct chroman-2-one derivatives and other heterocyclic compounds with excellent efficiency and stereoselectivity. The reactions represent a challenging issue, since it altered the inherent selectivity profiles exhibited by the substrates of 2-hydroxycinnamaldehyde 1 and trans-β-nitrostyrene 2, which was previously reported as the asymmetric oxa-Michael-Michael cascade to generate chiral chromans. It should be noted that polycyclic O,O-acetal-containing compounds, which are found in numerous natural products and biologically interesting molecules, could also be achieved in good yields with excellent enantioselectivity as a single diastereoisomer with five continuous stereogenic centers.
