Abstract
Indole scaffolds, which are important structural motifs in organic chemistry, have garnered sustained interest due to their prevalence in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and natural products. This study establishes a novel umpolung activation strategy for γ-position functionalization of electron-poor alkenyl sulfoxides, generating allylidenesulfonium intermediates that are subsequently trapped by indoles, achieving the synthesis of 3-functionalized indoles. Further transformations and plausible mechanism were investigated.

Abstract
Quinolones and isoquinolones are privileged scaffolds in synthetic/medicinal chemistry and drug discovery due to their unique chemical structures and intrinsic properties. Herein, we reveal a transition-metal-free approach for their synthesis from the reaction of dimethyl-2-((phenylamino)methylene)malonate with aryne precursors under mild conditions. The substrate scope is broad, accommodating a wide range of functional groups. The synthetic utility of the developed protocol has been demonstrated in the total synthesis of the potent antagonist agent AS2717638 and key intermediates of floxacin congeners. The gram-scale experiments illustrate its synthetic potential.

Abstract
In this work, a facile and efficient method for the synthesis of sulfilimines through multicomponent reaction of arynes, sulfamides, and thiosulfonates was developed. A variety of structurally diverse substrates and functional groups were very compatible in the reaction, giving the corresponding sulfilimines in good to high yields. This protocol could be conducted on a gram scale, and the product was easily converted to sulfide and sulfoximine. Mechanism studies revealed that sulfenamide generated in situ is the key intermediate for the reaction.

Abstract
An insertion of benzyne into the Se═O bond has been realized. In this reaction, two types of compounds containing selenium could be synthesized from different substrates. When diaryl selenium oxides were used, triarylselenonium salts were furnished, while o-(alkoxy)phenyl phenyl selanes could be produced from aryl alkyl selenium oxides.

Abstract
Arynes are highly reactive transient intermediates having enormous applications in organic synthesis. In the last three decades aryne chemistry has shown incredible developments in carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bond formation reactions. After the discovery of Kobayashi's protocol for the generation of aryne intermediates in a mild way, this field of chemistry witnessed rapid growth in synthetic organic chemistry. One aspect of development in this field involves C-S bond formation under mild conditions which has a tremendous scope for the synthesis of various important organosulfur building blocks.

Abstract
A phosphine-catalyzed oligomerization of arynes using selenocyanates was developed. The use of JohnPhos as a bulky phosphine is the key to accessing α,ω-bisfunctionalized oligo(ortho-arylenes) with RSe as the substituent at one terminus and CN as the substituent at the other. The in situ formation of R3PSeR' cations, serving as sterically encumbered electrophiles, hinders the immediate reaction that affords the 1,2-bisfunctionalization product and instead opens a competitive pathway leading to oligomerization. Various optimized conditions for the predominant formation of dimers, but also for higher oligomers such as trimers and tetramers, were developed. Depending on the electronic properties of the electrophilic reaction partner, even compounds up to octamers were isolated. Optimization experiments revealed that a properly tuned phosphine as catalyst is of crucial importance. Mechanistic studies demonstrated that the cascade starts with the attack of cyanide; aryne insertion into n-mers leading to (n+1)-mers was ruled out.

Abstract
The efficiency and selectivity of annulation reactions are often difficult to control in the presence of multiple potential reactive centers, like in the case of allylic sulfur ylides (ASY). Here, we describe a novel base mediated [3+3] benzannulation of ASY and readily available alkynones, which accomplishes the regioselective formation of multisubstituted thioanisoles, highly sought after chemical scaffolds. A new reactivity pattern of ASY has been unearthed, where it acted as both a 3C component and sulfur source in benzannulation. Use of a widely available base, operational simplicity and broad substrate scope are the additional salient features of the conversion.

Abstract
Organosulfur compounds have long played a vital role in organic chemistry and in the development of novel chemical structures and architectures. Prominent among these organosulfur compounds are those involving a sulfur(IV) center, which have been the subject of countless investigations over more than a hundred years. In addition to a long list of textbook sulfur-based reactions, there has been a sustained interest in the chemistry of organosulfur(IV) compounds in recent years. Of particular interest within organosulfur chemistry is the ease with which the synthetic chemist can effect a wide range of transformations through either bond formation or bond cleavage at sulfur. This review aims to cover the developments of the past decade in the chemistry of organic sulfur(IV) molecules and provide insight into both the wide range of reactions which critically rely on this versatile element and the diverse scaffolds that can thereby be synthesized.
