Abstract
A ligand-modulated synergetic nickel/photoredox-catalyzed exo-arylalkylation of unactivated alkynes was developed that was strikingly different from the known endo-arylalkylation of activated arylacetylenes. The unique arylalkylation pathway was due to the formation of a π-allyl-Ni complex from alkyne where the nickel species was engaged in a distinctive dual-catalytic cycle. The nickel/photoredox-catalyzed exo-alkenylation was applied to the divergent synthesis of tryptamines and benzofurylethylamines.

Abstract
Understanding the nature of a transition-metal-catalyzed process, including catalyst evolution and the real active species, is rather challenging yet of great importance for the rational design and development of novel catalysts, and this is even more difficult for a bimetallic catalytic system. Pd(0)/carboxylic acid combined system-catalyzed allylic alkylation reaction of alkynes has been used as an atom-economical protocol for the synthesis of allylic products. However, the asymmetric version of this reaction is still rather limited, and the in-depth understanding of the nature of active Pd species is still elusive. Herein we report an enantioselective coupling between readily available aldimine esters and alkynes using a synergistic Cu/Pd catalyst system, affording a diverse set of α-quaternary allyl amino ester derivatives in good yields with excellent enantioselectivities. Mechanistic studies indicated that it is most likely a synergistic asymmetric molecular Cu catalysis with Pd nanoparticle catalysis. The Pd catalyst precursor is transformed to soluble Pd nanoparticles in situ, which are responsible for activating the alkyne to an electrophilic allylic Pd intermediate, while the chiral Cu complex of the aldimine ester enolate provides chiral induction and works in synergy with the Pd nanoparticles.

Abstract
Pd-catalyzed intermolecular asymmetric allylic dearomatization of substituted β-naphthol derivatives with Boc-protected Morita-Baylis-Hillman (MBH) adducts was developed. The reaction occurs smoothly in 1,4-dioxane at room temperature in the presence of [Pd(C3H5)Cl]2 (2.5 mol %), (S, Sp)-PHOX ligand (5.5 mol %), and Li2CO3 (1.0 equiv). A series of dearomatized products were afforded in moderate to excellent yields and enantioselectivity (up to 99% yield, 97% ee). Furthermore, the compatibility with gram-scale reaction and mild conditions make the current method synthetically useful.

Abstract
Prenylation usually improves structural diversity and bioactivity in natural products. Unlike the discovered enzymatic gem-diprenylation of mono- and tri-cyclic aromatic systems, the enzymatic approach for gem-diprenylation of bi-cyclic hydroxynaphthalenes is new to science. Here we report an enzymatic example for dearomative C4 gem-diprenylation of α-hydroxynaphthalenes, by the F253G mutant of a fungal prenyltransferase CdpC3PT. Experimental evidence suggests a sequential electrophilic substitution mechanism. We also explained the alteration of catalytic properties on CdpC3PT after mutation on F253 by modeling. This study provides a valuable addition to the synthetic toolkit for compound prenylation and it also contributes to the mechanistic study of prenylating enzymes. A new catalyst for regiospecific dearomative gem-diprenylation of α-hydroxynaphthalenes from the F253G mutant of the fungal prenyltransferase CdpC3PT.![]()

Abstract
A direct regioselective benzoyloxylative dearomatization of both α- and β-naphthols by benzoyl peroxide under an air atmosphere, and radical inhibitor- and catalyst-free conditions at room temperature is described. The methodology provides a new efficient strategy for the construction of α-ketol derivatives bearing an oxo-quaternary carbon center from naphthols with good to excellent yields.

Abstract
A Brønsted acid-catalyzed domino ring-opening cyclization transformation of donor-acceptor (D-A) cyclopropanes and 2-naphthols has been developed. This formal [3+2] cyclization reaction provided novel and efficient access to the naphthalene-fused cyclopentanes in the absence of any transition-metal catalysts or additives. This robust procedure was completed smoothly on a gram-scale to afford the corresponding product with comparable efficiency. Furthermore, the synthetic application of the prepared product has been demonstrated by its transformation into a variety of synthetically useful molecules.

Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed redox-neutral allylic alkylation of indoles with cyclopropyl acetylenes has been disclosed. Various 1,3-diene indolenine framework bearing a quaternary stereocenter at the C3 position were synthesized straightforwardly in good to excellent yields with high regio- and stereoselectivities. The reaction could be further expanded to the dearomatization of naphthols to synthesize functionalized cyclohexadienones with 1,3-diene motifs. The reaction exhibited high atom economy and good functional group tolerance.

Abstract
A practical copper and palladium co-catalyzed highly regio-selective hydroarylation of terminal 1,3-dienes has been developed. This chemistry afforded the terminal alkenyl group containing products, which are a kind of versatile precursor for organic synthesis, from 1,3-dienes by a practical one-step reaction. With good functional group tolerance, this protocol could be used to make a series of bio-active compounds using readily accessible starting materials. Abstract
An in situ formed palladium hydride catalyst enables the sequential dual isomerization of propargylamide derivatives to 1-amido-1,3-dienes with high chemo- and regioselectivity. The reaction shows ample functional group tolerance, delivering a valuable class of products, including highly deuterated ones, from readily available reagents. The reaction occurs through a complex mechanism studied by DFT modelling.
