Abstract
Zinc oxide (ZnO) shows great potential as an anode material for advanced energy storage devices owing to its good structural stability and low cost. However, its inferior cycling capacity seriously restricts its practical application. In this work, a pre-lithiation strategy is adopted to construct pre-lithiated ZnO (Li-ZnO) via the facile solid-state reaction method. This well-designed Li-ZnO is polycrystalline, consisting of fine particles. XPS analysis and Raman results confirm the successful pre-lithiation strategy. The pre-lithiation strategy increases the electronic conductivity of Li-ZnO without further carbon coating and suppresses the volume expansion during the electrochemical reaction. As a result, 5 mol% Li-ZnO displays good reversible capacity with a specific capacity of 639 mA h g-1 after 200 cycles at 0.1 A g-1. After 1440 cycles at 1.0 A g-1, the capacity retention is 380 mA h g-1. The pseudocapacitance contribution can reach up to 72.5% at 1.0 mV s-1. Electrochemical kinetic analysis shows that this pre-lithiation strategy can accelerate the lithium-ion diffusion and charge transfer kinetics of the Li-ZnO anode and suppress the pulverization of the electrochemical reaction. This study demonstrates the necessity of developing new anode materials with good cycling stability via this pre-lithiation strategy.

Abstract
With their high theoretical energy density, Li-S batteries are regarded as the ideal battery system for next generation electrochemical energy storage. In the last 15 years, Li-S batteries have made outstanding academic progress. Recently, research studies have placed more emphasis on their practical application aspects, which puts forward strict requirements for the loading of S cathodes and the amount of electrolytes. To meet the above requirements, electrode catalysis design is of crucial significance. Among all the catalysts, single-atom site catalysts (SASCs) are considered to be ideal catalyst materials for the commercialization of Li-S batteries due to their high activity and highest utilization of catalytic sites. This perspective introduces the kinetic mechanism of S cathodes, the basic concept and synthesis strategy of SASCs, and then systematically summarizes the research progress of SASCs for S cathodes and, the related functional interlayers/separators in recent years. Finally, the opportunities and challenges of SASCs in Li-S batteries are summarized and prospected.

Abstract
The practical application of lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs) is still hindered by the shuttle effect of lithium polysulfides (LiPS) and slow sulfur conversion kinetics. Herein, a LiPS inhibited covalent organic framework (COF)-coated conductive porous metal oxide design strategy is proposed towards the development of efficient and durable sulfur cathode in LSBs. This strategy is demonstrated by coating a TpPa-1 COF layer on cobalt-decorated titanium oxynirtide (TiOxNy) with a three-dimensional ordered microporous framework (3DOM) structure. In this strategy, the oxygen-deficient TiOxNy framework ensures a good conductivity and structural stability of the cathode during the charge/discharge process. The 3DOM macrospores provide a high capacity for sulfur accommodation and exposes active interfaces, whereas the coated TpPa-1 COF featured with ultrafine microspore offer an effective confinement of LiPS within the 3DOM framework, mitigating its shuttling effect. At the same time, the Co embedded in 3DOM TiOxNy servers as efficient catalyst promoting the sulfur electrochemical reaction. Attributed to these structural superiorities, the 3DOM TpPa-1@Co/TiOxNy/S cathode exhibits excellent performance even under high sulfur loading and low electrolyte condition. This work of using microporous COF coating with conductive macroporous metal oxides offers an effective alternative strategy for the design of practical sulfur battery.

Abstract
To address the problem of shutting effect of Li-S batteries, we used Ti-based MOF as precursor to obtain a conductive matrix with dual inhibitors. The target material, namely NTiPC, shown remarkable discharge capacity with 1178 mA h g-1, and maintained at 732 mA h g-1 after 100 cycles. The results indicated the N- and Ti-active sites synergistic acted with conductive framework can facilitate binding reaction between matrix and polysulfides.

Abstract
Lithium-sulfur battery is one of the most promising choices for next-generation batteries due to its high theoretical energy density and natural abundance. However, the sulfur cathode undergoes a stepwise reduction process and generates multiple soluble polysulfide intermediates; for the further conversion from the dissolved intermediates to the final solid product (Li2S), the surface nucleation barrier limits the speed of the electrochemical precipitation, resulting in serious polysulfide diffusion loss and low sulfur utilization. Herein, the trace Li2S (tLi2S) is modified on the carbon fiber (CF) skeleton as preloaded crystal nuclei to boost the electrokinetics of Li2S deposition in the initial cycle. The trace Li2S decreases the nucleation barrier on the modified electrode (tLi2S@CF), resulting in a high initial capacity of 1423 mAh g-1 for the Li2S6 catholyte (0.2 C), which corresponds to a nearly 100% utilization of Li2S6. Furthermore, the trace Li2S nuclei induce a uniform distribution of the redeposited active materials, and the uniform distribution persists in the following cycles, which benefits the cycle life significantly. The sulfur cathode based on the tLi2S@CF matrix maintains a capacity of 1106 mAh g-1 at 1 C rate after 100 cycles. The strategy can provide a new avenue for the rational design of the sulfur cathode.
