Abstract
Naturally abundant and inexpensive alcohols represent appealing and suitable Csp3 coupling partners in transition metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions. A palladium-catalyzed/titanium-promoted Csp3-Csp3 cross coupling between two distinct unprotected alcohols has been accomplished. The reaction features a Pd-catalyzed β-H elimination, enabling the reversal of the electrophilic π-allyl-Pd intermediate into a nucleophilic dienolate and the generation of an all-carbon quaternary center.

Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed regioselective [8 + 3] cycloaddition of tropsulfimides and tropones with vinylidenecyclopropane-diesters (VDCP-diesters) has been disclosed in this paper, affording decahydro-1H-cyclohepta[b]pyridine derivatives bearing an allene moiety or decahydro-1H-cyclohepta[b]pyran derivatives having a conjugated diene unit in moderate to good yields. The reactions proceed through a zwitterionic allenyl palladium species derived from VDCP-diesters. The substrate scopes have been investigated and the plausible reaction mechanisms have also been proposed according to the previous work, the first captured zwitterionic Pd-allenyl intermediate, and control experiments.

Abstract
(Z)-alkenes are useful synthons but thermodynamically less stable than their (E)-isomers and typically more difficult to prepare. The synthesis of 1,4-hetero-bifunctionalized (Z)-alkenes is particularly challenging due to the inherent regio- and stereoselectivity issues. Herein we demonstrate a general, chemoselective and direct synthesis of (Z)-2-butene-1,4-diol monoesters. The protocol operates within a Pd-catalyzed decarboxylative acyloxylation regime involving vinyl ethylene carbonates (VECs) and various carboxylic acids as the reaction partners under mild and operationally attractive conditions. The newly developed process allows access to a structurally diverse pool of (Z)-2-butene-1,4-diol monoesters in good yields and with excellent regio- and stereoselectivity. Various synthetic transformations of the obtained (Z)-2-butene-1,4-diol monoesters demonstrate how these synthons are of great use to rapidly diversify the portfolio of these formal desymmetrized (Z)-alkenes.

Abstract
Synergistic palladium/copper catalysis for asymmetric allylic alkylation of vinylethylene carbonates with aldimine esters has been developed for the synthesis of α-quaternary (Z)-trisubstituted allylic amino acids under mild conditions. This methodology features broad substrate compatibilities in yields of up to 87% and up to 94% ee. A facile scale-up and straightforward conversion to 1,2,3,5-tetrasubstituted pyrrole and 1,2,5,6-tetrahydropyridine bearing chiral quaternary carbon centers verifies the synthetic utility of this method.

Abstract
The catalytic activity and selectivity of two different water-soluble palladium nanoparticles capped with 5-(trimethylammonio)pentanethiolate and 6-(carboxylate)hexanethiolate ligands are investigated using the catalytic reaction of allyl benzene. The results show that the regioselective transformation of allyl benzene to 3-phenylpropanal occurs at room temperature and under atmospheric pressure in neat water via a Tsuji-Wacker type oxidation. Conventionally, the Tsuji-Wacker oxidation promotes the Markovnikov oxidation of terminal alkenes to their respective ketones in the presence of dioxygen. Water-soluble Pd nanoparticles, however, catalyze the anti-Markovnikov oxidation of allyl benzene to 3-phenylpropanal in up to 83% yields. Catalytic results of other aromatic alkenes suggest that the presence of benzylic hydrogen is a key to the formation of a p-allyl Pd intermediate and the anti-Markovnikov addition of H2O. The subsequent b-H elimination and tautomerization contribute to the formation of aldehyde products. Water-soluble Pd nanoparticles are characterized using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), UV-vis spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Catalysis results are examined using 1H NMR and/or GC-MS analyses of isolated reaction mixtures.

Abstract
The asymmetric synthesis of multisubstituted allylic amino acid derivatives was accomplished by the allylic alkylation of a chiral glycine-based nickel complex with vinylethylene carbonates. High enantioselectivities and diastereoselectivities were obtained under mild reaction conditions. The gram-scale synthesis was carried out with a good yield and high enantioselectivity, indicating that the method is a highly efficient route to chiral multisubstituted allylic amino acid derivatives.

Abstract
The challenging metal-catalyzed asymmetric synthesis of highly functional quaternary carbon centers using decarboxylative C(sp3 )-C(sp3 ) bond formation reactions is reported. The key substrate, a vinyl cyclic carbonate, is activated to provide concomitantly both the requisite nucleophile (by formal umpolung) and electrophile reaction partner preceding the asymmetric cross-coupling process. A wide screening of reaction conditions, additives and catalyst precursors afforded a protocol that gave access to a series of compounds featuring densely functionalized, elusive quaternary carbon stereocenters in appreciable yield and with enantiomeric ratios (er's) of up to 90 : 10.

Abstract
Dual palladium/photoredox-catalysis provides an effective method for the decarboxylative asymmetric synthesis of vicinal α,β-tri/tetra- or α,β-tetrasubstituted homoallylic alcohols using Hantzsch-type esters as radical precursors. This mild methodology capitalizes on vinyl cyclic carbonates as accessible reagents providing the target molecules in appreciable to good yields, high branch selectivity, and enantiomeric ratios of up to 94:6, making it a rare example of using prochiral electrophiles for the creation of vicinal congested carbon centers.

Abstract
A diastereoselective (3 + 2) cycloaddition of N-sulfonyl ketimines with vinylethylene carbonates (VECs) in the presence of Pd2dba3·CHCl3 and PPh3 has been developed. The reaction of various substituted VECs and diverse cyclic N-sulfonyl ketimines proceeded smoothly under mild conditions, giving highly functionalized oxazolidine frameworks in good to excellent yields with moderate to good diastereoselectivities. With the use of spiroketal-based diphosphine SKP as a chiral ligand, an asymmetric version of the current (3 + 2) cycloaddition was achieved, and chiral products were obtained in >99% ee in most cases.

Abstract
A transition-metal-free synthesis of heterobiaryl 4-aryl furans through a base-promoted decarboxylative propargylation/cycloisomerization annulation of ethynyl benzoxazinanones and readily accessible β-keto esters or 1,3-diketones has been developed. A series of novel heterobiaryl 4-aryl furans were accessed efficiently in the presence of base under mild reaction conditions. This protocol is significant for probing the reaction mechanism of ethynyl benzoxazinanones and even other propargylic compounds.

Abstract
Functionalized cyclic organic carbonates and carbamates are frequently used in a number of transition metal-catalyzed decarboxylative reactions for the construction of interesting molecules. These decarboxylative transformations have attracted more and more research attention in recent years mainly due to their advantages of less waste generation and versatile reactivities. On the basis of previous reviews on this hot topic, the present review will focus on the development of transition metal-catalyzed decarboxylative transformations of functionalized cyclic carbonates and carbamates in the last two years.
