Abstract
We present the magnetic properties of the metal-organic framework {[CoCxAPy]·2.15 H2O}n (Cx = bis(carboxypropyl)tetramethyldisiloxane; APy = 4,4`-azopyridine) (1) that builds up from the stacking of 2D coordination polymers. The 2D-coordination polymer in the bc plane is formed by the adjacent bonding of [CoCxAPy] 1D two-leg ladders with Co dimer rungs, running parallel to the c-axis. The crystal packing of 2D layers shows the presence of infinite channels running along the c crystallographic axis, which accommodate the disordered solvate molecules. The Co(II) is six-coordinated in a distorted octahedral geometry, where the equatorial plane is occupied by four carboxylate oxygen atoms. Two nitrogen atoms from APy ligands are coordinated in apical positions. The single-ion magnetic anisotropy has been determined by low temperature EPR and magnetization measurements on an isostructural compound {[Zn0.8Co0.2CxAPy]·1.5 CH3OH}n (2). The results show that the Co(II) ion has orthorhombic anisotropy with the hard-axis direction in the C2V main axis, lying the easy axis in the distorted octahedron equatorial plane, as predicted by the ab initio calculations of the g-tensor. Magnetic and heat capacity properties at very low temperatures are rationalized within a S* = 1/2 magnetic dimer model with anisotropic antiferromagnetic interaction. The magnetic dimer exhibits slow relaxation of the magnetization (SMM) below 6 K in applied field, with a tlf ≈ 2 s direct process at low frequencies, and an Orbach process at higher frequencies with U/kB = 6.7 ± 0.5 K. This compound represents a singular SMM MOF built-up of Co-dimers with an anisotropic exchange interaction.

Abstract
Six cobalt-organic frameworks (1-6) were solvothermally constructed with a tritopic pyridine-carboxylate linker (L-H) and its methyl- and methoxy-functionalized derivatives (L-OCH3 and L-CH3). Due to incorporated multiple substituents with various steric hindrances, the tritopic linkers adopt different molecular configurations, Y-shaped and T-shaped, which further combine octahedral or trigonal-prismatic inorganic nodes to afford diverse (3,6)-connected nets. Consequently, 1 and 2 are rtl nets and 3 and 4 are ant nets. Notably, 5 and 6 present rarely observed chiral anh (flu-3) networks with left-handed double helical chains. The structural investigation indicates that the steric tuning of linkers may essentially dictate the resulting diverse MOF structures. Furthermore, the MOFs presented here can be regarded as an ideal structural platform for a better understanding of the assembly of (3,6)-connected rtl, ant, and chiral anh nets, which are closely related to the shape and geometric configuration/conformation of tridentate organic nodes as well as inorganic building nodes.

Abstract
This work reports an efficient method for the oxidation reaction of aliphatic, aromatic allylic, and benzylic alcohols into aldehydes catalyzed by the cyclopentadienyl ruthenium(II) complex (RuCpCl(PPh3)2) with bubbled O2. Through further optimizing controlled studies, the tendency order of oxidation reactivity was determined as follows: benzylic alcohols > aromatic allylic alcohols >> aliphatic alcohols. In addition, this method has several advantages, including a small amount of catalyst (0.5 mol%) and selective application of high discrimination activity of aliphatic, aromatic allylic, and benzylic alcohols.

Abstract
Two examples of Co(II)-N-heterocyclic coordination polymers based on 1-hydroxyethylidenediphosphonic acid (H5L=CH3C(OH)(PO3H2)2), namely 0.5(H3NCH2CH2NH3)·[Co6(Cl2)(H3L)2(H2L)(HL)(2,2'-bipy)6] 1 and 2(NH4)·[Co3(HL)2(H2O)2(phen)2]·2(H2O) 2, have been solvothermally obtained by introducing the second ligands 2,2'-bipyridine/1,10-phenanthroline (2,2'-bipy/phen) and characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), elemental analysis, IR, TG-DSC. The single-crystal X-ray diffractions show that compound 1 possesses a 0-D structure with hexa-nuclear cluster [Co6(O-P-O)8] built through single/double O-P-O bridges and compound 2 displays a 1-D ladder-like chain structure with magnetic topology building blocks [Co4(O-P-O)4]n. Then H-bonding and π-π stacking interactions further expand the two low-dimensional structures into three-dimensional supramolecular frameworks. Fluorescent measurements reveal that both the maximum emission peaks of 1-2 are centered at 423nm, mainly deriving from intraligand π*-π transition state of N-heterocyclic ligand 2,2'-bipy/phen, respectively. Magnetism data indicate that 1 exhibits antiferromagnetic behavior within hexa-nuclear Co(II) clusters, while 2 shows weak ferromagnetic interactions in 1-D topology Co(II)-chain, showing promising potential as magnetic materials.

Abstract
The purpose of this critical review is to give a representative and comprehensive overview of the arising developments in the field of magnetic metal-organic frameworks, in particular those containing cobalt(II). We examine the diversity of magnetic exchange interactions between nearest-neighbour moment carriers, covering from dimers to oligomers and discuss their implications in infinite chains, layers and networks, having a variety of topologies. We progress to the different forms of short-range magnetic ordering, giving rise to single-molecule-magnets and single-chain-magnets, to long-range ordering of two- and three-dimensional networks (323 references).

Abstract
Porous metal-organic framework compounds with coordinatively unsaturated metal sites on the inner surface of the pores promise to be valuable adsorbents and catalyst systems, either in industrial applications or as model systems to study interactions with guest molecules. The dehydration process of two isostructural microporous coordination polymers, [M2(dhtp)(H2O)2].8 H2O, termed CPO-27-M (M=Co, Zn; H(4)dhtp=2,5-dihydroxyterephthalic acid) was investigated by in situ variable temperature X-ray diffraction. Both compounds contain accessible coordination sites at the metal after complete removal of the solvent. However, despite the analogy of their crystal structures, they behave differently during dehydration. For CPO-27-Co, water desorption is a smooth topotactic process of second order with no concomitant space group change and no increase in microstrain, which is beneficial for the applicability of the material. Removal of the water propagates from the center of the channels outwards. The coordinating water molecule at the metal desorbs only when almost all the bulk water in the pores has disappeared. In contrast, discontinuities in the powder pattern of CPO-27-Zn indicate the occurrence of first-order transitions. The crystal structures of four of the five individual phases could be determined. The structure of the intermediate phase occurring just before the framework is completely evacuated was elusive in respect to full structure solution and refinement, but it is most probably related to the removal of the axis of threefold symmetry. The zinc-based material experiences a significant amount of strain.

Abstract
The literature on open-framework materials has shown numerous examples of porous solids with additional structural, chemical, or physical properties. These materials show promise for applications ranging from sensing, catalysis and separation to multifunctional materials. This critical review provides an up-to-date survey to this new generation of multifunctional open-framework solids. For this, a detailed revision of the different examples so far reported will be presented, classified into five different sections: magnetic, chiral, conducting, optical, and labile open-frameworks for sensing applications. Abstract
Two stable supramolecular microporous cobalt(II) polymers, namely [Co(HAIP)2]n.3nH2O (1) and [Co(AIP)(H2O)]n (2), AIP = 5-aminoisophthalate, were hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR spectra, thermogravimetric analyses, and variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements. The two complexes are constructed from the same Co2(CO2)2 SBU, which is extended into a 1D chain in 1 and a 2D layer in 2. As a result, 1 and 2 are 2D and 3D coordination polymers, respectively. The 3D supramolecular network of complex 1 is held up by strong hydrogen bonds formed between carboxylate groups and shows very high stability when the free H2O molecules are removed, indicating an extraordinarily stable H-bonding system. Upon water ligands being liberated, complex 2 becomes a stable microporous solid with coordination-unsaturated Co centers. The behavior of the susceptibility curve of 1 suggests the occurrence of an interesting intrachain antiferromagnetic coupling between the Co(II) ions and the presence of a significant orbital contribution, whereas the features of 2 indicate an antiferromagnetic coupling with T(N) = 3.5 K and a long-range antiferromagnetic order with a field-induced magnetic transition.

Abstract
A series of imidazolium dicarboxylic acids have been prepared from the reaction of the 1,3-bis(carboxymethyl)imidazolium zwitterion with the Brønsted acids HX (X = F, Br, Cl, ClO4). The structures of these acids have been established in the solid state by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, which revealed that the cations and anions form strong hydrogen bonds through O-H...X interactions, leading to the formation of dimeric and polymeric networks. These acids react with elemental zinc and cobalt to form stable polymeric coordination complexes, some of which have also been characterised by X-ray diffraction.

Abstract
The trimer [Co3(mu-OOCCF3)4(mu-H2O)2(OOCCF3)2(H2O)2(C4H8O2)].2C4H8O2. (1) is composed of three tetragonally distorted Co(II) centers bridged by four trifluoroacetates and two bridging water molecules. 1,4-Dioxane is coordinated at a distance of 2.120(3) A from the terminal cobalt Co2; the remaining oxygen of this 1,4-dioxane links the terminal cobalt to a neighbor trimer, forming a one-dimensional chain. The crystal structure displays a network of hydrogen bonds between four noncoordinated 1,4-dioxane molecules and the coordinated terminal water molecules. The magnetic properties of 1 were analyzed with the use of the Hamiltonian including isotropic exchange interactions between real spins of a high-spin Co(II), spin-orbit coupling and a low-symmetry crystal field acting within the (4)T(1g) ground manifold of each cobalt ion. A weak antiferromagnetic exchange interaction between cobalt ions in 1 was found. The results of the magnetic model are in good agreement with the experimental observations.
