Abstract
An efficient metal-free, photoredox-mediated cascade cyclization of aryl 1-haloalk-5-ynyl ketones has been developed. Using catalytic amounts of eosin Y (EY) and EtNMe2 as a reductive quencher, various aryl 1-haloalk-5-ynyl ketones have been transformed into the corresponding cyclization products in up to 98% yield. As a result, synthetic access to differently α-functionalized cyclopenta[b]naphthones and direct construction of cyclopenta[b]naphtholes has been developed.

Abstract
The structure of Fischer carbene complexes (FCCs) is electron deficient. If bearing an α,β-unsaturated system, it can generate a wide variety of compounds by undergoing many different transformations, including higher-order cycloadditions. The latter are described as pericyclic reactions in which more than six electrons participate. These reactions have been employed in various areas of organic synthesis, resulting in highly selective compounds with a broad range of scaffolds. The first studies on higher-order cycloadditions involving FCCs frequently yielded competing byproducts. Many groups have attempted to increase selectivity by exploring distinct reaction conditions, reagents and co-catalysts (e. g., metal-mediated cycloadditions). The present review is the first to focus exclusively on using higher-order cycloadditions involving FCCs to synthesize carbocycles and heterocycles. Based on two decades of reports, an analysis is made of the main aspects of the mechanisms proposed for higher-order cycloadditions and the structural diversity obtained by the substituent effect.

Abstract
The radical cascade protocol of the α-cyano α-TMS/aryl-capped alkynyl aryl ketones promoted by tert-butyl hydroperoxide under catalysis with tetrabutylammonium iodide in refluxing benzene has been developed, leading to the construction of a variety of highly functionalized [6,6,5] tricyclic frameworks in an efficient manner.

Abstract
The paper describes the course of cycloadditions of Diels-Alder dienophiles containing linked enyne sites, each substituted with activating groups. Consistently, it was found that in the enyne cases the Diels-Alder reaction occurred specifically at the acetylenic center. Furthermore, it was found that the regiochemical sense of the cycloaddition was apparently determined by the remote activating group bound to the olefinic site. This remote acrylyl group totally dominated the course of the cycloaddition, relative to the activating group bound directly on the acetylene site. Explanations for these findings at the computational level are provided. The computations also rationalize the strong preference for cycloaddition to occur at the acetylene linkage and encompass the otherwise surprising regiochemical dominance by the remote ester on the olefinic site. The high selectivities available through such reactions provide important new opportunities in the synthesis of orsenillate type substructures that are found in a variety of natural products of contemporary interest.
