Abstract
Conjugated trienes are fascinating building blocks for the rapid construction of complex polycyclic compounds. However, limited success has been achieved due to the challenging regioselectivity control. Herein, we report an enantio- and diastereoselective process allowing to regioselectively control the functionalization of NH-triene-carbamates. Synthesis of chiral cis-3,6-dihydro-2H-1,2-oxazines is achieved by a chiral phosphoric acid catalyzed Nitroso-Diels-Alder cycloaddition involving [(1E,3E,5E)-hexa-1,3,5-trien-1-yl]carbamates. Moreover, modular access to three different regioisomers with excellent diastereoselectivities and high to excellent enantioselectivities is obtained by a careful choice of the reaction conditions. A computational study reveals that the regioselectivity is influenced by the steric demand of the substituents at the 6-position of the triene, as well as noncovalent interactions between the two cycloaddition partners. Utility of each regioisomeric cycloadduct is highlighted by a variety of synthetic transformations.

Abstract
With their unique reactivity, selectivity, availability and stability, allenamides are receiving increasing attention, and reports on the functionalization of allenamides are rapidly growing in number. In this review, recent developments in transition-metal-free functionalization of allenamides are highlighted. First, developments based on allenamide reactivity are simply introduced. After presenting the advantages of allenamides, recent progress in transition-metal-free functionalization of allenamides is classified and discussed in detail in four parts: chiral phosphoric-acid-catalyzed asymmetric functionalization, iodine-reagent-mediated functionalization, 1,3-H-shift reaction of allenamides, and other metal-free allenamide functionalizations. For the majority of these transformations, plausible mechanisms are presented in detail. The purpose of this review is to provide illustrations of elegant allenamide chemistry, and thereby elicit further interest from the synthetic community to develop novel allenamide methodology.

Abstract
Triene 6π electrocyclization, wherein a conjugated triene undergoes a concerted stereospecific cycloisomerization to a cyclohexadiene, is a reaction of great historical and practical significance. In order to circumvent limitations imposed by the normally harsh reaction conditions, chemists have long sought to develop catalytic variants based upon the activating power of metal-alkene coordination. Herein, we demonstrate the first successful implementation of such a strategy by utilizing [(C5 H5 )Ru(NCMe)3 ]PF6 as a precatalyst for the disrotatory 6π electrocyclization of highly substituted trienes that are resistant to thermal cyclization. Mechanistic and computational studies implicate hexahapto transition-metal coordination as responsible for lowering the energetic barrier to ring closure. This work establishes a foundation for the development of new catalysts for stereoselective electrocyclizations.

Abstract
A new method was developed to synthesize iodine-substituted Z-enamides through N-iodosuccinimide-mediated intermolecular iodofunctionalization of allenamides with indoles, pyrroles, and furans. These reactions proceed rapidly and tolerate a broad scope of substrates. The conjugated sulfimide ion species probably acts as the key intermediate.

Abstract
A highly stereoselective aza-[4 + 2] cycloaddition of chiral cyclic 2-amidodienes with N-sulfonyl aldimines is described. While this Lewis acid promoted heterocycloaddition provides an efficient strategy for constructing optically enriched isoquinuclidines, it is mechanistically intriguing. The cycloaddition favored the endo-II pathway in the absence of a viable bidentate coordination. This represents an unexpected switch from the anticipated endo-I selectivity obtained in the all-carbon cycloaddition.

Abstract
Lewis acid promoted Diels-Alder cycloadditions of a series of de novo chiral cyclic 2-amidodienes are described. These cyclic 2-amidodienes are derived from chiral α-allyl allenamides via a sequence of E-selective 1,3-H shift and 6π-electron pericyclic ring closure. With enones serving as effective dienophiles, these cycloadditions can be highly diastereoselective depending upon the chiral amide substituent, thereby representing a facile entry to optically enriched [2.2.2]bicyclic manifolds.

Abstract
A novel stereoselective electrocyclization developed for the total synthesis of reserpine has been explored by both experiment and theory. A stereocenter six atoms away from the newly forming chiral center is responsible for the diastereoselectivity of the ring closure. This stereogenic center, lying at the junction of two six-membered rings, defines the conformation of the substrates' fused ring skeleton that ultimately distinguishes between the two allowed, disrotatory triene geometries at the transition state. The presence of allylic strain in the disfavored transition state results in a torquoselective ring closure (dr up to 15.7:1).

Abstract
A highly torquoselective thermal triene 6π electrocyclization controls the relative stereochemistry between the C3 and C18 stereocenters of the dodecahydroindolo[2,3-a]benzo[g]quinolizine skeleton of reserpine-type alkaloids. Employing a tandem cross-coupling/electrocyclization protocol allowed us to form the requisite triene and ensure its subsequent cyclization. A novel low-temperature dibromoketene acetal Claisen rearrangement established the requisite exocyclic dienylbromide precursor for the palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction.

Abstract
An imino-Nazarov cyclization using α-aryl-substituted allenamides is described. This gold(I)-catalyzed cascade is efficient and regioselective in constructing a diverse array of synthetically useful aromatic-ring fused cyclopentenamides. The success in this transformation represents a solution to the challenge in establishing an imino-Nazarov cyclization process.

Abstract
A new approach to Oppolzer's intramolecular Diels-Alder cycloaddition (IMDA) through γ-isomerization of readily available N-tethered allenamides is described. These IMDA reactions are carried out in tandem with the allenamide isomerization or 1,3-H shift, leading to complex nitrogen heterocycles in a highly stereoselective manner.

Abstract
Preparations of de novo acyclic 2-amido-dienes and 3-amido-trienes through 1,3-hydrogen shifts from allenamides are described. These 1,3-hydrogen shifts could be achieved thermally or they could be promoted by the use of Brønsted acids. Under either condition, these processes are highly regioselective in favour of the α-position, and highly stereoselective in favour of the E-configuration. In addition, 6π-electron electrocyclic ring-closure could be carried out with 3-amido-trienes to afford cyclic 2-amido-dienes, and such electrocyclic ring-closure could be rendered in tandem with the 1,3-hydrogen shift.

Abstract
Herein we report the first all-carbon N-heterocyclic carbene-catalyzed (4 + 2) cycloaddition. The reaction proceeds with α,β-unsaturated acid fluorides and silyl dienol ethers and produces 1,3-cyclohexadienes with complete diastereocontrol (dr >20:1) while demonstrating a new type of reaction cascade exploiting α,β-unsaturated acyl azoliums.
