Abstract
We present the use of Pd-complex-containing supported ionic liquid phases (SILPs) as a novel approach for continuous-flow allylic alkylation of N-nucleophiles. This immobilization strategy gave simple access to air-tolerating catalyst frameworks, providing rapid and convenient access to various achiral and chiral N-allylation products. Under optimized conditions, the flow-reaction could be maintained for 3.5 hours with constant product output; meanwhile, only a marginal 0.7 wt % of ionic liquid leaching and no detectable palladium-complex leaching could be observed.

Abstract
This Review compiles the evolution, mechanistic understanding, and more recent advances in enantioselective Pd-catalyzed allylic substitution and decarboxylative and oxidative allylic substitutions. For each reaction, the catalytic data, as well as examples of their application to the synthesis of more complex molecules, are collected. Sections in which we discuss key mechanistic aspects for high selectivity and a comparison with other metals (with advantages and disadvantages) are also included. For Pd-catalyzed asymmetric allylic substitution, the catalytic data are grouped according to the type of nucleophile employed. Because of the prominent position of the use of stabilized carbon nucleophiles and heteronucleophiles, many chiral ligands have been developed. To better compare the results, they are presented grouped by ligand types. Pd-catalyzed asymmetric decarboxylative reactions are mainly promoted by PHOX or Trost ligands, which justifies organizing this section in chronological order. For asymmetric oxidative allylic substitution the results are grouped according to the type of nucleophile used.

Abstract
A highly regio- and stereoselective route to d- and l-cyclohexenyl nucleosides has been devised, using the Tsuji-Trost reaction as the key step. Contrarily to the widely accepted mechanism (involving a net retention of configuration), the reaction proceeded in a highly stereoconvergent manner, providing cis nucleosides regardless of the relative configuration of the starting materials. DFT calculations confirmed the experimental data while suggesting the origin of the stereochemical reaction outcome.

Abstract
Sulfones are flexible functional groups that can act as nucleophiles, electrophiles, or even radicals. Changing the reaction conditions can completely alter the reactivity of a sulfonyl group, and as a result, molecules bearing multiple sulfones are versatile building blocks. This Review highlights the unique ability of 1,1- and 1,2-bis(sulfones) to masquerade as a vast array of reactive synthons including methane polyanions, vinyl cations, and all-carbon dipoles that would be difficult or impossible to access directly.

Abstract
The regio- and stereospecific rhodium-catalyzed allylic alkylation of secondary allylic carbonates with cyanohydrin pronucleophiles facilitates the direct construction of acyclic α-ternary β,γ-unsaturated aryl ketones. Interestingly, this study illustrates the impact of deaggregating agents on regiocontrol and the electronic nature of the aryl component to suppress olefin isomerization. In addition, we demonstrate that the dimethylamino substituent, which modulates the pKa of the α-ternary β,γ-unsaturated aryl ketone, provides a useful synthetic handle for further functionalization via Kumada cross-coupling of the aryl trimethylammonium salt. Finally, the stereospecific alkylation of a chiral nonracemic secondary allylic carbonate affords the enantioenriched α-ternary aryl ketone, which was employed in a formal synthesis of trichostatic acid to illustrate that the allylic alkylation proceeds with net retention of configuration.

Abstract
A highly regio- and enantioselective copper-catalyzed three-component coupling of isocyanides, hydrosilanes, and γ,γ-disubstituted allylic phosphates/chlorides to afford chiral α-quaternary formimides was enabled by the combined use of our original chiral naphthol-carbene ligand as a functional Cu-supporting ligand and LiOtBu as a stoichiometric Lewis base for Si. The formimides were readily converted to α-quaternary aldehydes.

Abstract
Aerobic hydroperoxidation of Meldrum's acid derivatives via a Cu(II)-catalyzed process is presented. The mild reaction conditions are tolerant to pendant unsaturation allowing the formation of endoperoxides via electrophilic activation. Cleavage of the O-O bond provides 1,n-diols with differentiation of the hydroxy groups.

Abstract
Biomimetic intramolecular aldol reactions on oxazolidine templates derived from serine may be used to generate densely functionalised pyroglutamates, which are simpler mimics of the right hand side of oxazolomycin. Some of the compounds from this sequence exhibit in vivo activity against S. aureus and E. coli, suggesting that pyroglutamate scaffolds may be useful templates for the development of novel antibacterials, and cheminformatic analysis has been used to provide some structure-activity data.

Abstract
Pyrroles can serve as competent nucleophiles with meso electrophiles in the Pd-catalyzed asymmetric allylic alkylation. The products from this transformation were obtained as a single regio- and diastereomer in high yield and enantiopurity. A nitropyrrole-containing nucleoside analogue was synthesized in seven steps to demonstrate the synthetic utility of this transformation.
