Abstract
BACKGROUND Mycosis fungoides (MF) in solid-organ transplant recipients (SOTRs) is rare, with limited data on disease characteristics. OBJECTIVE The aim was to study the characteristics of MF in SOTRs with an emphasis on the immunosuppressive therapy. METHODS A retrospective cohort of patients diagnosed with MF, who were also SOTRs, were followed at 3 cutaneous lymphoma outpatient clinics, between January 2010 and February 2022. RESULTS Ten patients were included (7 male; median ages at transplantation and at diagnosis of MF were 33 and 48 years, respectively; 40% were diagnosed before the age of 18 years). Median time from transplantation to diagnosis of MF was 8 years (range 0.5-22). Transplanted organs and immunosuppressive treatments included: liver (n = 5; 4 treated with tacrolimus, 1 with tacrolimus and prednisone), kidney (n = 3), liver and kidney (n = 1), and heart (n = 1), all treated with mycophenolic acid, tacrolimus, and prednisone. Nine had early-stage MF (IA - 4, IB - 5; 40% with early folliculotropic MF), treated with skin-directed therapies, in 2 combined with acitretin, achieving partial/complete response. One patient had advanced-stage MF (IIIA) with folliculotropic erythroderma, treated with ultraviolet A and narrow-band ultraviolet B with acitretin, achieving partial response. Immunosuppression was modified in 3. At last follow-up (median 4 years, range 1-8), no stage progression was observed; 5 had no evidence of disease, 5 had active disease (IA/IB - 4, III - 1). CONCLUSIONS MF in SOTRs is usually diagnosed at an early stage, with overrepresentation of folliculotropic MF, and of children. Immunosuppressive therapy alterations, not conducted in most patients, should be balanced against the risk of organ compromise/rejection. Disease course was similar to MF in immunocompetent patients, during the limited time of follow-up.

Abstract
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is a heterogeneous group of lympho-proliferative disorders. We performed a meta-analysis to summarize the available evidence from case-control studies and cohort study on the inconsistent association between occupational sun exposure and the risk of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. We searched PubMed, ISI web of science, the Cochrane Library, EMBASE and reference lists for relevant articles. Study specific odds ratios or relative risk and 95% confidence intervals were pooled by using fixed-effects or random-effects models. Ten case-control studies and one cohort study were included in the meta-analysis. Overall, the pooled odds ratios for occupational ultraviolet exposure and non-Hodgkin lymphoma risk was 1.15(95% confidence intervals: 0.99, 1.32; I2 = 44.4%). Occupational sun exposure was positively associated with the risk of NHL 1.14 (95% confidence intervals: 1.05, 1.23; I2=25.4% p for heterogeneity =0.202) in Caucasian population. Common subtypes of non-Hodgkin lymphoma and ultraviolet exposure had the negative results. The pooled odds ratios was 1.16, (95%confidence intervals: 0.90, 1.50) for T-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma; 0.79, (95%confidence intervals: 0.61, 1.02) for B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma; 1.13, (95%confidence intervals: 0.96, 1.34) for chronic lymphocytic leukemia; 1.25, (95%confidence intervals: 0.95, 1.64) for males; 1.49, (95%confidence intervals: 0.99, 2.25) for females. Data suggested that occupational ultraviolet exposure was a risk factor for non-Hodgkin lymphoma in Caucasian population. While, there had no relationship between occupational ultraviolet exposure and risk of non-Hodgkin lymphoma in general population as well as non-Hodgkin lymphoma common subtypes. Besides, gender specific occupational sun exposure also indicated no association on risk of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Mycosis fungoides (MF) is an indolent, most common type of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) with an average estimated incidence of 0.5 cases per 100,000 persons per year in the western world. Although various clinical and epidemiological features are well delineated in the western population, the data is scarce from our region. OBJECTIVES To study the clinicoepidemiological features of MF from Kuwait. SETTING A referral photobiology unit for cutaneous lymphomas in a national dermatology department in collaboration with three other dermatology departments in Kuwait and Kuwait cancer center. PATIENTS AND METHODS One hundred and ninety-three cases of MF registered between July 1991 and June 2006 were included for this study. RESULTS Eighty-six percent of our MF cases were of Arab ethnicity. Males outnumbered the females by 2:1 ratio. Mean age at diagnosis was 35.20 ± 14.37 years, and 16% of the patients were diagnosed by the age 20 years. The annual incidence rate (IR) of MF in Kuwait was observed to be 0.43 cases per 100,000 persons with a significantly higher IR among Arabs as compared to non-Arab Asians (RR = 4.4; 95% CI = 2.9-6.6). A successive rise in the IR of MF was noticed with the advancing age. The annual IR among males was more or less comparable to that of females. Skin patches were the most prevalent skin lesions (67%) at diagnosis, and 22% of the patients had a pure hypopigmented variant. Patients with hypopigmented MF were observed to have younger mean age at diagnosis (27.60 ± 12.42 years) as compared to other MF cases (38.14 ± 14.37 years) (P = 0.000). Ninety-two percent of the patients had the early stage (IA, IB, and IIA) of disease. CONCLUSIONS Our patients with MF were observed to have a relatively younger age at diagnosis, with a high proportion of patients diagnosed by the age 20 years. Arabs were observed to have a higher annual IR of MF as compared to non-Arab Asians. Hypopigmented MF is prevalent in our population. The study highlights the ethnic and/or regional variations in the clinicoepidemiological characteristics of MF.

Abstract
In 2004-2007 4 independent case-control studies reported evidence that sun exposure might protect against NHL; a fifth, in women only, found increased risks of NHL associated with a range of sun exposure measurements. These 5 studies are the first to examine the association between personal sun exposure and NHL. We report here on the relationship between sun exposure and NHL in a pooled analysis of 10 studies participating in the International Lymphoma Epidemiology Consortium (InterLymph), including the 5 published studies. Ten case-control studies covering 8,243 cases and 9,697 controls in the USA, Europe and Australia contributed original data for participants of European origin to the pooled analysis. Four kinds of measures of self-reported personal sun exposure were assessed at interview. A two-stage estimation method was used in which study-specific odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs), adjusted for potential confounders including smoking and alcohol use, were obtained from unconditional logistic regression models and combined in random-effects models to obtain the pooled estimates. Risk of NHL fell significantly with the composite measure of increasing recreational sun exposure, pooled OR = 0.76 (95% CI 0.63-0.91) for the highest exposure category (p for trend 0.01). A downtrend in risk with increasing total sun exposure was not statistically significant. The protective effect of recreational sun exposure was statistically significant at 18-40 years of age and in the 10 years before diagnosis, and for B cell, but not T cell, lymphomas. Increased recreational sun exposure may protect against NHL.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Patterns of mycosis fungoides incidence and associated mortality in the United States were evaluated. METHODS Data were taken from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results cancer registry program and the National Center for Health Statistics. RESULTS The incidence rate from 1973 through 1992 was 0.36/10(5) person-years. The age-adjusted incidence rate ratio of Blacks to Whites was 1.7; that of Asians to Whites was 0.6. There was no evidence of increasing incidence rates during the period 1983 through 1992. Mortality rates declined steadily from 1979 to 1991 and were less heterogeneous geographically than incidence rates. Mortality rate patterns with age, sex, and race were similar to the corresponding incidence patterns. CONCLUSIONS The incidence rate of mycosis fungoides has stabilized and the mortality rate has declined. For unknown reasons, the disorder varies greatly among demographic and geographic subgroups.
