Abstract
The plant hormone jasmonic acid plays an important role in plant growth and development, participating in many physiological processes, such as plant disease resistance, stress resistance, organ development, root growth, and flowering. With the improvement in living standards, people have higher requirements regarding the quality of vegetables. However, during the growth process of vegetables, they are often attacked by pests and diseases and undergo abiotic stresses, resulting in their growth restriction and decreases in their yield and quality. Therefore, people have found many ways to regulate the growth and quality of vegetable crops. In recent years, in addition to the role that JA plays in stress response and resistance, it has been found to have a regulatory effect on crop quality. Therefore, this study aims to review the jasmonic acid accumulation patterns during various physiological processes and its potential role in vegetable development and quality formation, as well as the underlying molecular mechanisms. The information provided in this manuscript sheds new light on the improvements in vegetable yield and quality.

Abstract
Greasiness in apple skin reduces its quality, and its level varies depending on the variety. In this study, low-temperature (1 ± 0.5 °C) stored 'Hongro' and 'Fuji', which had differences in the occurrence of greasiness, were moved to room temperature (20 °C) and untargeted metabolite and fatty acids for skin and flesh along with quality changes due to greasiness occurrence were compared. Ethylene production differed noticeably between the two varieties and increased rapidly in 'Hongro' until 9 d of room-temperature storage. The ethylene production did not differ significantly between the two varieties on day 20 when greasiness occurred. According to the PLS-DA score plot, while 'Hongro' had similar amounts of unsaturated and saturated fatty acids, 'Fuji' had approximately twice as much unsaturated-fatty-acid content. 'Hongro', after 50 d of low-temperature (1 ± 0.5 °C) storage, produced excessive ethylene during room-temperature storage, which was directly related to greasiness development. As a result, the primary wax components of greasy 'Hongro' were nonacosane and nonacosan-10-ol. As the room-temperature storage period elapsed, pentyl linoleate and α-farnesene contents increased significantly. Furthermore, these greasiness-triggering characteristics of 'Hongro' may have been genetically influenced by the paternal parent used during breeding.

Abstract
Mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) play important roles in the stress response of plants. However, the function of MPK proteins in freeze-resistance in wheat remains unclear. Dongnongdongmai No.1 (Dn1) is a winter wheat variety with a strong freezing resistance at extremely low temperature. In this study, we demonstrated that TaMPK6 is induced by JA signaling and is involved in the modulation of Dn1 freeze resistance. Overexpression of TaMPK6 in Arabidopsis increased the survival rate of plant at -10 ℃. The scavenging ability of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the expression of cold-responsive genes CBFs and CORs were significantly enhanced in TaMPK6-overexpressed Arabidopsis, suggesting a role of TaMPK6 in activating the ICE-CBF-COR module and antioxidant enzyme system to resist freezing stress. Furthermore, TaMPK6 is localized in the nucleus and TaMPK6 interacts with TaICE41, TaCBF14, and TaMYC2 proteins, the key components in JA signaling and the ICE-CBF-COR pathway. These results suggest that JA-induced TaMPK6 may regulate freezing-resistance in wheat by interacting with the TaICE41, TaCBF14, and TaMYC2 proteins, which in turn enhances the ICE-CBF-COR pathway. Our study revealed the molecular mechanism of TaMPK6 involvement in the cold resistance pathway in winter wheat under cold stress, which provides a basis for enriching the theory of wheat cold resistance.

Abstract
Freezing damage is a common phenomenon responsible for reduced yields of economic crops. Regulation of lipid metabolism plays an important role in plant growth and adaptation during freezing. We previously carried out transcriptome and untargeted metabolome analyses to determine the regulation of flavonol and anthocyanin biosynthesis during freezing treatment (FT) and post-freezing recovery (FR) in Dendrobium catenatum. However, changes in lipid levels are hard to confirm by untargeted metabolomics analysis alone. Regulation of lipid metabolism in response to freezing is largely unknown in Dendrobium. In this study, a multi-omics strategy was used to offer a better means of studying metabolic flow during FT and FR. To this end, 6976 proteins were identified by the 4D_label-free proteome, including 5343 quantified proteins. For each of the two conditions, we enriched differentially accumulated proteins (DAPs) into 15 gene ontology (GO) terms, including primary metabolism, lipid metabolism, and photosynthesis processes. We also identified 7 lipid categories and 3672 lipid species using lipidome assays. We found significant remodeling occurring in the phospholipid category during FT and FR. We also found that most sphingolipids were significantly upregulated. An integrated multi-omics analysis revealed significant changes in the expression levels of 141 mRNAs and encoding proteins under both FT and FR conditions. During FT, phospholipase A (PLA) and phospholipase D (PLD) were associated with phospholipid editing and galactolipid remodeling. These results provide valuable new insights into how the freezing tolerance of D. catenatum might be improved by genetic engineering.

Abstract
Pepper fruit (Capsicum annuum L.) is sensitive to chilling stress with chilling injuries occurring below 7 °C; however, chilling injuries occur at different temperatures depending on the genotype. The present study aimed to identify the factors that affect chilling sensitivity in pepper fruits. A total of 112 F2 pepper fruits crossed between chilling-insensitive 'UZB-GJG-1999–51' and chilling-sensitive 'C00562' pepper were grouped according to the seed browning rate, which is a typical chilling symptom of pepper fruit under chilling conditions. Physiological traits, amino acids, fatty acids, as well as ethylene responsive factor (ERF) and jasmonate resistant 1 (JAR1) expression levels were analyzed, and their correlations with the seed browning rate were confirmed. The expression level of JAR1 showed a strong negative correlation with the seed browning rate (r = − 0.7996). The expression level of ERF11 and content of hydrogen peroxide showed strong positive correlation with the seed browning rate (r = 0.7622 and 0.6607, respectively). From these results, we inferred that JAR1 and ERF11 are important factors influencing the chilling sensitivity of pepper fruit.

Abstract
Mung bean (Vigna radiata L. Wilczek) is an economically important grain legume crop in Asia, with high nutritional quality and potential in other parts of the world particularly arid and semiarid regions. Considering the potential adverse effects of drought, high salt, and other abiotic stresses on crop yield, significant efforts have been made to understand the underlying molecular mechanisms of tolerance to these abiotic stresses in legumes. In this study, a total of 186 putative AP2/ERF genes were identified, which were named VrERF1-186. These VrERF genes were classified into four main subfamilies according to the number of AP2 domains and sequence similarity, including 24 AP2 gene members, 81 ERF gene members, 79 DREB gene members, and 2 RAV members. VrERF genes are scattered across all 11 chromosomes and form small gene clusters on chromosomes due to segmental or tandem duplication. Promoter analysis revealed various cis-acting elements related to light, hormones, and stress responsiveness processes. The expression profiles of the VrERF genes in tissues during development and in response to abiotic stresses were assessed by transcriptome sequencing, and the selected reference genes were validated by qRT-PCR. A total of 174 VrERF genes were expressed in at least one of five tissues, while others showed distinct expression patterns in different tissues or under specific abiotic stress treatments, which indicates that VrERF genes are involved in developmental and environmental stress responses in V. radiata. In conclusion, the genome localization, genome-wide characterization, gene duplication, phylogenetic relationships, and expression pattern of VrERF genes in V. radiata were analyzed, and these results will lay the foundation for further functional analysis of these genes and improve stress tolerance to adverse conditions in plants.

Long Non-Coding RNA and Its Regulatory Network Response to Cold Stress in Eucalyptus urophylla S.T.Blake. FORESTS 2021. Abstract
Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) plays an important regulatory role in plant growth and development, but its systematic identification and analysis in Eucalyptus has not yet been reported. Cold stress has a huge impact on the survival and yield of Eucalyptus seedlings, but the regulatory mechanism of lncRNA in Eucalyptus in response to cold stress is still unclear. In this study, the transcriptomes of young leaves of Eucalyptus urophylla S.T.Blake under low-temperature treatment and restoration were analyzed by RNA-seq. A total of 11,394 lncRNAs and 46,276 mRNAs were identified, of which 300 were differentially expressed lncRNAs (DE_lncRNAs) and 5606 were differentially expressed target genes of lncRNAs under cold stress, with the total number of target genes of DE_lncRNAs being 1681. A total of 677 differentially expressed transcription factors (TFs) were also identified, mainly including ERF, MYB and the NAC transcription factor family. Gene ontology (GO) analysis of the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and target genes of DE_lncRNAs was mostly related to the response to cold stress and external stimuli. Furthermore, lncRNA–miRNA–mRNA regulatory networks were constructed, and 22 DE_lncRNAs were predicted to be targets or targeting mimics of 20 miRNAs. A qRT-PCR was used to verify the relative expression of genes in the regulatory EuGBF3-EUC_00002677-MSTRG.7690 network, and it matched the transcriptome data, indicating that it may play an important role in the response to cold stress in E. urophylla. This study provides a new insight into lncRNA and its regulatory network under abiotic stress, especially cold stress in E. urophylla.
