Abstract
The 0-D hybrid salt bis-(2-methyl-imidazo[1,5-a]pyridin-2-ium) tetra-chlorido-manganate(II), (C8H9N2)2[MnCl4] or [L]2[MnCl4], consists of discrete L + cations and tetra-chlorido-manganate(II) anions. The fused heterocyclic rings in the two crystallographically non-equivalent monovalent organic cations are almost coplanar; the bond lengths are as expected. The tetra-hedral MnCl4 2- dianion is slightly distorted with the Mn-Cl bond lengths varying from 2.3577 (7) to 2.3777 (7) Å and the Cl-Mn-Cl angles falling in the range 105.81 (3)-115.23 (3)°. In the crystal, the compound demonstrates a pseudo-layered arrangement of separate organic and inorganic sheets alternating parallel to the bc plane. In the organic layer, pairs of centrosymmetrically related trans-oriented L + cations are π-stacked. Neighboring MnCl4 2- dianions in the inorganic sheet show no connectivity, with the minimal Mn⋯Mn distance exceeding 7 Å. The Hirshfeld surface analysis revealed the prevalence of the non-conventional C-H⋯Cl-Mn hydrogen bonding in the crystal packing.

Abstract
The hybrid salt bis-(2-methyl-imidazo[1,5-a]pyridin-2-ium) hexa-chlorido-stannate(IV), (C8H9N2)2[SnCl6], crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n with the asymmetric unit containing an Sn0.5Cl3 fragment (Sn site symmetry ) and one organic cation. The five- and six-membered rings in the cation are nearly coplanar; bond lengths in the pyridinium ring of the fused core are as expected; the C-N/C bond distances in the imidazolium entity fall in the range 1.337 (5)-1.401 (5) Å. The octa-hedral SnCl6 2- dianion is almost undistorted with the Sn-Cl distances varying from 2.4255 (9) to 2.4881 (8) Å and the cis Cl-Sn-Cl angles approaching 90°. In the crystal, π-stacked chains of cations and loosely packed SnCl6 2- dianions form separate sheets alternating parallel to (101). Most of the numerous C-H⋯Cl-Sn contacts between the organic and inorganic counterparts with the H⋯Cl distances above the van der Waals contact limit of 2.85 Å are considered a result of crystal packing.

Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of a series of N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complexes of Au(iii), (NHC)AuCl3, is described. High yields are obtained when the corresponding Au(i) species (NHC)AuCl are oxidized with inexpensive aqua regia. The oxidation is in some cases accompanied by substitution and/or anti addition of Cl2 across the backbone C[double bond, length as m-dash]C bond of unsaturated NHC ligands.

Abstract
In single crystals of 2-naphthylisonitrile-gold(i)-halide (halide = Cl, Br, I) complexes, AuAu distances are found to be significantly shorter than twice the van der Waals radius, indicating attractive interactions between gold atoms in adjacent molecules. In the particular case of the studied 2-naphthylisonitrile-gold(i) complexes, homodimers are the common structural motifs, in which the linearly coordinated gold exhibits a crossed swords arrangement with the Au atoms of two molecules being at the intersection point. The crossed swords motif is preserved upon physical vapour deposition of both the chlorine and bromine derivatives on amorphous substrates like glass and glassy carbon. The determined activation energies of desorption for the chlorine (0.9 eV) and the bromine (1.2 eV) derivative are comparable to that of unsubstituted naphthalene. Using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and ion scattering (RBS), we confirmed the chemical integrity of the molecules in thin films and revealed the orientation of the crossed swords dimers with respect to the substrate surface.

Abstract
A common method to dissolve elemental gold involves the combination of an oxidant with a Lewis base that coordinates to the gold surface, thus lowering the metal's redox potential. Herein we report the usage of organic iodide salts, which provide both oxidative power and a coordinating ligand, to dissolve gold under formation of organo-gold complexes. The obtained products were identified as AuIII complexes, all featuring Au-C bonds, as shown by X-ray single-crystal analysis, and can be isolated in good yields. Additionally, our method provides direct access to N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC-type) complexes and avoids costly organometallic precursors. The investigated complexes show dynamic behavior in acetonitrile and in the case of the NHC(-type) complexes, the involved species could be identified as a monocarbene [AuI3 (carbene)] and biscarbene complex [AuI2 (carbene)2 ]+ .

Abstract
Abstract
CuII and AuIII chlorido complexes bearing the bis(NHC) carbazolide pincer ligand (bimca) were synthesized by transmetallation from the respective lithium complex [Li(bimca)] (NHC=N-heterocyclic carbene). In the case of copper, two different molecular structures were obtained depending on the copper source. With Cu(II) chloride the paramagnetic mononuclear [Cu(bimca)Cl] complex is formed and has been characterized by EPR spectroscopy and X-ray structure analysis, while copper(I) chloride leads under oxidation to a dinuclear structure in which two cationic [CuII(bimca)] moieties are bridged by one chlorido ligand. The positive charge is compensated by the [CuCl2]− counter ion, as proven by X-ray structure analysis. Transmetallation of [Li(bimca)] with AuCl3 leads to the [Au(bimca)Cl]+ complex with a tetrachloridoaurate counter ion.

Abstract
Gold(I) dicarbene complexes [Au2 (MeIm-Y-ImMe)2 ](PF6 )2 (Y=CH2 (1), (CH2 )2 (2), (CH2 )4 (4), MeIm=1-methylimidazol-2-ylidene) react with iodine to give the mixed-valence complex [Au(MeIm-CH2 -ImMe)2 AuI2 ](PF6 )2 (1 a(I) ) and the gold(III) complexes [Au2 I4 (MeIm-Y-ImMe)2 ](PF6 )2 (2 c(I) and 4 c(I) ). Reaction of complexes 1 and 2 with an excess of ICl allows the isolation of the tetrachloro gold(III) complexes [Au2 Cl4 (MeIm-CH2 -ImMe)2 ](PF6 )2 (1 c(Cl) ) and [Au2 Cl4 (MeIm-(CH2 )2 -ImMe)2 ](Cl)2 (2 c(Cl) -Cl) (as main product); remarkably in the case of complex 2, the X-ray molecular structure of the crystals also shows the presence of I-Au-Cl mixed-sphere coordination. The same type of coordination has been observed in the main product of the reaction of complexes 3 or 4 with ICl. The study of the reactivity towards the oxidative addition of halogens to a large series of dinuclear bis(dicarbene) gold(I) complexes has been extended and reviewed. The complexes react with Cl2 , Br2 and I2 to give the successive formation of the mixed-valence gold(I)/gold(III) n a(X) and gold(III) n c(X) (excluding compound 1 c(I) ) complexes. However, complex 3 affords with Cl2 and Br2 the gold(II) complex 3 b(X) [Au2 X2 (MeIm-(CH2 )3 -ImMe)2 ](PF6 )2 (X=Cl, Br), which is the predominant species over compound 3 c(X) even in the presence of free halogen. The observed different relative stabilities of the oxidised complexes of compounds 1 and 3 have also been confirmed by DFT calculations.

Abstract
To investigate the geometry and stereochemical activity of the lone pair at the lead atom, lead(ii) complexes () with one tripodal (L(1)), one dipodal (L(2)) boron-centred soft ligand and eight other small soft heterocyclic ligands, 2-mercaptobenzimidazole (L(3)), 2-mercapto-5-methylbenzimidazole (L(4)), 3-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole (L(5)H), 3-mercapto-4-methyl-1,2,4-triazole (L(6)), 2-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole (L(7)H), 2-mercapto-5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole (L(8)H), 5-mercapto-1-methyltetrazole (L(9)H) and 2-mercapto-4-phenylthiazole (L(10)H) were prepared. The structures of these complexes were elucidated on the basis of X-ray crystallography, elemental analyses as well as (1)H NMR, (1)H DOSY, (13)C NMR and (207)Pb NMR spectroscopy. The coordination numbers of these complexes vary from 4 to 8. The majority of the complexes are polymeric and possess a hemi-directed environment around the lead atoms. Solution studies revealed that most of the complexes are dissociated in highly polar solvents. Most of the complexes are emissive both under ambient conditions and at 77 K in the solid state. However, no obvious relationship between their solid state structures and luminescence behaviour with respect to the nature of the excited state could be identified.
